Unreliable and frustrating

I don’t think this is news to anyone, but I have an old Sonos system and I can say for the last number of years it has had more attitude then my teenage daughter. Basically it decides when it’s going to work when it’s gonna stop when it’s going to have zones appear and reappear. I have tried the book and had professionals look at it. I’ve reconfigured my system installed and uninstalled and reinstalled. All software gone back on updates and even factory reset all of the speakers and hardware. It’s been a total nightmare. But about a month ago, everything seemed to reappear and has been giving me no problems. I wonder if it will last if not, I’m ditching this system all its hardware and looking for something else.

Backwards compatibility

Not sure why S2 is not backwards compatible with S1 but it would be convenient if legacy products were visible in S2 and when you clicked on them it would “launch” the S1 code so everything could be done through one app. Assuming there is no seamless way to control legacy products through the S2 controller.

Not good enough

This app not only needs to be better but should be. Sonos is one of the best in the business, just because someone is using Gen 1 products (which is a testament to the quality) doesn’t mean they should be stuck with sub par app quality. Try harder.

Accessibility issues with Sonos

While the S1 app works just fine, after Sonos introduced the Liquid Glass in the main bottom navigation menu a couple of months ago, it introduced a huge readability issue: The text of the selected item is white, over a very light gray background. This means you can’t tell properly which item is selected on the menu. This update was made months ago, but is still an issue. I know we are not supposed to expect updates for the S1 app other than security fixes, but the unexpected design update broken the readability, so I trust Sonos devs will fix the introduced issue. Thank you!

Ok, but not great for older units

I really like my Sonos products, when I can access them and pair them together. Having a couple of the older amps and newerish playbar, move and play:1, they don’t always work well together. Also the app is very slow to responds at times and regular get a “ failure” and have to try and do whatever I was doing to get it to work. Replacing the older units is not feasible right now AND they still work and sound good. 😕

Sonos One seems to be very unstable these days: frequently can’t connect, can’t find some of the speakers, cuts out a lot, looses some of our music, skips through tracks (I can’t remember the last time I managed to listen to a whole album the whole way through) etc. Could this be because Sonos wants us to invest around £2000 in a whole new - Sonos Two - system I wonder???

Sonos is awesome!

Absolutely love Sonos. Living in a house that was built before sound systems were installed I had always wanted a house system. Sonos gives me that pleasure without construction. I recently moved. I am 100% tech illiterate. I called the 800 # and through a patient operator was able to restore all 4 of my speakers in the new house with a new wifi system. I am so grateful. I NEED my music!

Dysfunction at its finest

Ranks as probably the number one most frustrating expensive experience of any of my purchases. I invested in 13 Sonos speakers and with each “new generation” the syncing functionality has decreased and decreased, let alone the speakers even being found to begin with. One day five will only be found, the next day one, today I have 9 functioning. Yesterday, only 4. Considering the thousands of dollars I have spent, I know of no other WiFi based operating system which is so inconsistent and aggravating. And I’m not alone. Many of my clients and friends roll their eyes and have their own stories of dysfunction when I observe that they have Sonos speakers. We have hired professional audio persons who state the same. Even after purchasing WiFi boosters (additional $500) we are again experiencing the same poor performance after a brief three month slight upgrade. As an owner of a 25 year old company, I can’t imagine selling such a poor experience with no resolution over the length of time which complaints have been out there on social media and on Sonos’s platform. Aside from that, they look great. 🙄

Sonos is not playing its own tune, where is the integrity to loyal fans

As an original owner I am dismayed at the way Sonos is trying to push people out of S1. The speakers still sound great, a testament to the quality. But the endless disconnects to some of my speakers is obviously an engineered problem designed to make me “upgrade”. Sell an app to us long haulers so we can keep it going or support the people who got you here.
