It is wonderful that I can see all of the plays at one location. However, I couldn’t find his sonnets. Did I miss them?

They keep finding things to charge you for. I downloaded this app four years ago and had access to all the features. Now those same features I had for free are behind yet another pay wall. Before this I would’ve given a 5 star review, but being nickel-dimed for the qualities that made the app exceptional greatly diminishes its value in my eyes. They should honor their customers. Simple as that.

Was great now trash
new: app shows signs of paste buffer hack issues. (old: Was a wonderful app. Now abject trash thats barely functional. App makers: shakespeare pdf's are free . You crippled you own good app trying to squeeze £10 for a pro version upsell. £10?! For things that are free and part of the common heritage of mankind.)
Helpful, but sloppy
Full of typos and errors — none catastrophic, but still…. Will be helpful to some, just annoying to others. I can’t imagine why they put so much fine work into creating this app, but have not bothered to go back and correct all the mistakes.
Awful modern translation
Don’t waste yout money on the modern translation add-in. The ‘translations’ are puerile and in many cases unnecessary. - for example Shakespeare’s line in Romeo and Juliet, “She speaks” is translated as “She said something” - not a really a helpful addition (quite apart from using the wrong tense). For the next line “As glorious to this night, being o’er my head”, the translation is “you’re as gorgeous in the night, up there” I really wish that I hadn’t wasted my money on this infantile rubbish. Re the response, the need may not be diminished but satisfying that need with poor quality and sometimes mindless ‘translations’ will certainly diminish the experience. As to your suggestion that I contact you whenever I feel that something is incorrect, life is too short to afford the amount of time required. In answer to the second response (1) I meant that trying to itemise the inadequacies would take far too long to contemplate, (2) it is not my responsibility to review and suggest corrections to those inadequacies and (3) clearly there is little point in contacting a developer that belittles any negative review as a ‘drive by response’.

A furia di aggiungere funzioni inutili e al solo scopo di giustificare una versione a pagamento, ora se uno vuole semplicemente leggere Shakespeare sull'iPad è divenuto impossibile. So, I’ve paid for the whole bang! I paid for Shakespeare Pro, and now, with the latest update, they want me to pay more. They actually want me to pay more than the full app I paid for before! No no no no no! Might I suggest you don’t screw us? - Edit - yeah actually, you do. The modern translations and the lexicon features. You want more money for it.

Disappointed with the pro feature
I purchased the pro feature and I thought I was getting everything. The pro version doesn’t even come with the modern translations and lexicons so I have to make further purchase. This is very misleading and disappointing. Don’t waste your money just stick to the free version and use spark notes!
Good app
Just what I need for my work at the RSC
Not able to create note
After clicking create note button, the keyboard covers the buttons. So can’t create any notes and stay stuck in that dialog. Pls fix asap
7 months since the last update?
I will give it 4 stars if we get an update. The option for icon change should appear after the in-app pro purchase. Also, the app shall run smoothly after the ios 14 release.

This is a good app if you want to quickly look up a line, or count the number of times a particular word is used. Might be more useful if the app made clear which version of a text it was using - e.g. for Hamlet is it Q2 or Folio? But as a basic word search app it is fine.
Please reverse the update
I purchased the initial app and I was happy. Then through updates I now have a permanent banner telling me to purchase the pro app. I don't want the pro app, I am fine with the app I purchased, which had no banner.

Remakable
The level or detail, thought and care that went into this app is remarkable.
It doesn’t show anything
I’ve downloaded the free version of it and, when I want to read the play it doesn’t appear. It shows the act I’m in but not the content, it’s all blank. I’m really disappointed, was really hyped to read them.
Good reference
iOS 6 users should remove and reinstall the app and it will start working. Only thing I don't like is navigating the search results can be a bit clunky. Otherwise a good reference source.
Too many ads
Ads everywhere you look, telling you to spend $10 on the pro version. Ruins the reading experience.
Not bad
This app is very well-presented, but epitomises the sort of app that offers little/nothing that isn't available for free on the internet, but tries to make you pay for it. Not much is available without upgrading and it constantly nags you to do so. Also, surprisingly slow on my iPhone 4 for an app that mostly only displays text.

I’m in love not with the man
Can’t read plays
I have the free version and an iPhone XS Max and I cannot read any play - when I click one all I see is a white screen that does not load the text. I restarted my phone and reopened the app and one specific play loaded and was readable after restarting but the other plays were not - I still see a white screen and no text! After closing the app and reopening again the play that I was able to read was no longer readable either!
Won't work with iOS6
Hope an update comes soon because this is an awesome app - five stars!
langsam und unhandlich
Die Texte gehen in Ordung, was auch sonst, nur benutzt das App den SunGlow eReader, der ewig langsam ist, alle paar Seiten erst wieder die nächsten paar Seitengrafiken berechnen muss. Da gibt es wesentlich bessere eReader Apps.
Pro update buggy on iPhone
Upgrades to the pro version. Text selection is very buggy Running on iPhone 6 with iOS 8.1: text selection jumps everywhere, top menu appears and goes away while tring to select text for highlighting. Glossary Search function is buggy. More glossary terms would be good also.

Has bugs
A great free resource with most of the most popular Shakespearean plays. Simple, easy to use, but it constantly opens up Hamlet when I don't want it to -- very frustrating!

I raised a support ticket on their website and it's still ignored. Time to find a better app. Shame it was very good.

Abbreviated character names?
Great collection but unfortunately, the character names are abbreviated. Why? It's not like they had to worry about wasting paper. So I'm deducting points for poor usability. Maybe the pro version fixes this?
Memories revisited
I am old and read S. Not recently, but when I recall the line, or part o a line, I turn to the app to locate and fill in memories. What a superb way to recall memories.
Unusable after recent updates
Used to be great but now useless. Can't contact app support without registration hassle first. LOOK ELSEWHERE! I wanted to give app support a chance to comment before negative review but can't face registration with yet another website... I've pasted what I wanted to send below. ======== Dear Shakespeare app Was unable to open app after last update but one. After re-instal could open app but not get into any plays/works - the app just crashed. After latest update (02 May 2018) I could go into works but just got blank screen, Re-installed again (2nd time in a couple of weeks) and still the same: I can see list of scenes, etc, but get blank screen when I try to access. Have used the app for many years but frustrated now... I use an iPhone 5S. Any Q's or more info needed just let me know. Best wishes, Neil

Not right yet
It is probably a good idea to look on this as a beta. While I love the idea I couldn't get it to scroll at, meaning I never got past the first page of any play. Just as bad, all the character names are shrink to three letters. This last is madness. I will be watching for an improved version.
LINE NUMBERS!
Please, please, please put line numbers in the works. I was so excited when the lastest update arrived because I thought it would add line numbers but I was left disappointed. Shakespeare needs line numbers. Please add them in the next update and this app would be five-star worthy.
