What people like
- Fast and easy to buy tickets
- You can buy multiple tickets at once
- Convenient for quick travel needs
What they complain about
- Tickets expire before you use them
- No Apple Wallet integration available
- QR codes often fail to scan
- Old buses cannot read your ticket
- Login process is slow and buggy
Be carefully with this “half- fraud” app
Be careful guys if you have to use this app! Don’t per-purchase the tickets! The tickets will expire during the day! And nothing on the page will tell you that unless you already purchased!! You cannot refund the ticket if you bought wrong! I pre-purchased the ticket tonight and want to use it tomorrow morning, after I purchased it I saw a few words under the ticket said expire today. So guys, be careful! I can’t believe that this is a gov app. Who designed this?
not responding
after clicking buy tickets
Not updated charging machine on legacy buses
Pros: convenient, fast, easy to use Cons: some legacy buses’ machines have not been updated, so they won’t accept your qr code
Would be better
Would be a good app if I could log into the damn thing email and password are both correct but the app says invalid
Apple Wallet?
Great app overall, but one feature that would really elevate it is Apple Wallet integration. Being able to store my MetroCard directly in Wallet for quick, one-tap access would be a game changer — especially when you’re rushing for a bus or train. This isn’t a new concept either. Apps like Opal (Sydney), myki (Melbourne), and even international transit apps like Transport for London and Clipper (San Francisco) have all nailed Wallet integration. Adelaide Metro shouldn’t be far behind.
issue
sometimes the tickets don’t work
wth
I can’t uninstall this app to log back in
Ms
There are times when I cant access the app because of a device error, leaving me with no choice but to use my debit card and pay again even though I have an active monthly subscription.
Lacking features
Would be great to have a metro time table and a feature to plan your route built into the app
bad
error so many times
Piece of junk
I rely on this slop every day. After 2 years all the bugs should be ironed out, but no. Once I updated the app and all my tickets disappeared. Luckily I didn’t buy too many. And now its just randomly not letting me log in, just spinning endlessly, even after reinstalling and restarting my phone. I can’t even reset my password. Its just hanging with no error code or anything. What a joke
Enable interstate concession cards to be added
There does not appear to be a mechanism to add a concession card to the App. For those of us who are Seniors and interstate visitors it makes sense that those cards should be able to be added. As a 71yo tech savvy person, it’s a bit disappointing to not see an option to be able add my newly purchased concession card to the App just to simplify things and reduce the number of cards I need to carry. As an alternative perhaps those concession cards should be configured to be able to be added to the Apple wallet (as an example).
Useless with scanners
Sometimes the ticket scanners refuse to read my digital concession 28 day pass, leaving me to use my debit card..
Please add password support or at least copy and paste!
Love that the app makes buying tickets easy. I don’t love typing in a complex password without copy and paste. Can you please integrate with phone password system?? Also my wife has had to enter her payment details twice on the same day. Seems like a bug.
genuinely terrible
two authentications to log in, have to restart the app every time you open it because it loads indefinitely on the first pass, need to buy and activate ticket before getting on the bus because it takes a minute for the validated ticket to even work on the scanner
Logging In
Takes forever to let me log into my account
Should allow to integrate with my already existing metro card
Overall I’m glad to see Adelaide is moving in the correct direction. I was hoping this app would allow me to see and use my already existing metro card and just top it up like you can via the website and then use my phone to get one the train. But no - which is a real shame. Don’t need this app as I still have my metro card.
Recycled NJ Transit app, needs work
This app is off to an OK start. I love that I can buy and validate multiple tickets together. It’s an essential feature for travelling in a family group. However, it suffers from some major usability issus. I noticed that this app is a modified copy of the NJ Transit app, so it was most likely built 100% by NJ Transit and its back-end systems are most likely built and managed by NJ Transit too, which is concerning in terms of privacy and data sovereignty. I didn’t see this disclosed anywhere in the app, which is concerning. I also didn’t find any reference to this on the internet, so I can only conclude that it’s been made confidential. That’s pretty poor form. In terms of actually using the app, these are the things I struggled with: • The two-hour time limit on tickets starts when activating a ticket, not when it’s first validated. I’m sure you’ve had a lot of complaints from people who bought and activated ticket in advance, then as they were going to get on the bus or train, found that their tickets had expired. • Creating an account is an absolute pain. The password manager’s new password suggestion isn’t triggered. Manually creating a new entry in the Passwords app using a suggested password results in a password that doesn’t match the app’s criteria. The email address and password have to be entered twice, which is a very outdated practice and just super annoying when combined with a lack of password manager support. • The short password limit of 20 characters strongly suggests that passwords aren’t being hashed and salted in line with best practice. Should the database be compromised, it could become a treasure-trove of recycled credentials from which unscrupulous people could gain access to more important accounts such as Google, etc. • The login screen doesn’t trigger auto-filling of credentials from a password manager. • The option to enable biometrics is greyed out with no explanation. • There is no option to use Apple Pay. I signed up in a public place and felt a bit uneasy about whipping out my credit card. • The app doesn’t respect my dark mode preference. • Apple Wallet integration would be nice. In Australia, our privacy laws state that you should only gather the information required to deliver the service. Any other information you ask for should be optional. There is absolutely no need to gather an email address, phone number or postcode to deliver this service. If I change phones or delete the app, for example, iCloud backup can restore ticket purchases. You should strongly consider an account-less approach for a future version. Combined with Apple Pay and respecting people’s UI preferences, it will make for a seamless, low-friction onboarding experience. It would be nice to have more ticketing options, such as: • 14 and 28 day passes so we can ditch our metroCARDs, especially kids who always lose them • Multi-Trip – 10 trips for the price of 8 like the good old days (a reward for buying in bulk) * Support for login via Passkey Thank you for this app. Please keep improving it. Consider bringing it in-house so you can take ownership of the user experience rather than leaving it in the hands of NJ Transit.
Just use a metro card atp
I wanted to use this so I don’t have to bring a wallet with me but I’ve found the app consistently breaks either singing me out when trying to scan the horrible QR code design or it not scanning looking like a nob whilst everyone else is behind me waiting to get on
App is not supported
App works fine in itself but the validator does not recognise the QR code. There happened to be Adelaidemetro staff on the bus at the time: he was not aware of this app. The driver was aware and thought it was highly problematic.
Ridiculous Password Requirements
The password requirements are absolutely ridiculous and only serve to reduce security. It has long been proven that password LENGTH and not complexity provide better security than obscure requirements. Developers: search “XKCD password complexity”; your password requirements are hard for humans to remember and easy for computers to guess. Consider using a password complexity library such as “zxcvbn”. All the current password requirements tell us is that whoever wrote the bizarre requirements has absolutely zero clue about information security. I’d even hazard a bet that the requirement was copy-pasted from some outdated system requirements document which is 20 years outdated. To fix it, remove ridiculous complexity requirements and use a modern library (like zxcvbn) to calculate compute complexity (ie how long it takes a machine to brute force the password). Make the various forms work seamlessly with password managers and built-in device password generators. These will generate far more secure passwords than a human trying to manually satisfy some BA’s ignorant perception of password complexity requirements. Grrrr. Also seems like I can’t use aliases on my email address (I’m guessing, can’t sign up, no reason why). This thing is 20 years outdated already. Trying again several years later: still unable to paste a password in. I don’t know what my password is, I just copy+paste from a password manager. It’s a complicated password which I’m not going to type out by hand. So I can’t even log in. Still. After how many years??
Not helpful
I installed this assuming I’d get access to my metro card account but it appears not WT? It’s Useless I want to be able to check and recharge my existing metro card account, why another convoluted process just to enter more user data to buy tickets?? No wonder our user data gets leaked with the amount of user info we are expected to give over !!
Poor functioning app
Please reference the ways NSW and VIC done with their apps.
Why
Stupid password requirements. Can’t even use secure auto generated ones because of the requirements. It doesn’t link with the account for managing the metro card. It looks like Adelaide metro now has 3 different account systems. The app doesn’t seem to work with apple wallet. Just ditch all of this and add it to the Apple wallet.
Terrible
Hands down the worst app I’ve ever used! This app is fundamentally unfit for purpose. Accessing the QR code requires multiple taps, even when using shortcuts, and the app frequently logs users out or crashes without warning - often at the most inconvenient times. Most concerning is that the QR code does not reliably scan on some buses, rendering a paid ticket unusable. A ticketing app that cannot consistently present a valid, scannable ticket fails at its most basic function. I will not use this app again once my current pass expires unless substantial improvements are made.
