Works as expected
Idk what these other reviewers are talking about. I expected a non functional app and was surprised to find a run of the mill OTP generation app, same as on Android.
It works, sometimes
The app often gives an error, which prevents the setup. And for what? This is already done by Google Authenticate and other apps.
No longer can be setup
This app no longer will let a new user set it up. Chatting with TD after it failed while traveling, they informed me that the app was disabled after some earlier security issues. So only option is to use two factor SMS or calls. As this app is not functional why is it still on the App Store?
Deactivated
I have been trying to register for the TD Authenticate app FOR MONTHS. Every time I try I am told “we are temporarily unable to register …..”. I have tried on line help, chat help, in branch help, I even tried Cari or whatever the BOT help is called. On my last call I was told the app has been deactivated for everyone (not just me) but there is a “silent authentication method” for which there is no documentation or any other information. Cari was the most entertaining - it said ”I don’t understand” to any question with the words “TD Authenticator” This makes me seriously concerned about the IT infrastructure team at TD. And this is not the first time.
This app should not exist
There is no reason whatsoever for this app to exist. TD’s reasoning that it provides for a more secure process is completely incorrect. Every layer that is added to a process introduces vulnerabilities to the security of that process. If TD is genuinely concerned with security, they should fix the login procedures for the web site instead of creating apps. Not being able to disable text and email based MFA is a bigger problem that needs to be addressed.
Broken
Not working. I need to go to Europe and can’t use my phone number while away so needed a different method. However this isn’t working. Very sad.

TD has abandoned the app. Why still in App Store?
Unable to process my registration
Just downloaded in preparation for upcoming travel. When I try to register it says ‘we are temporarily unable to process your registration.’ Already annoying before even beginning to use it. Please think of a better way, TD.
TD Authentication app still broken!
If TD insists upon only offering their own authentication app for “security reasons” (which is nonsense), they should at least address it being broken. SMS fallback is not secure! If they can’t maintain it, allow other MFA methods.
Can’t register
This app is useless. They don’t seem to be allowing new registrations. I’m considering changing banks over this joke. How does TD not support one of the existing established authentication apps?
Please tell me why?
Like everyone else says, it doesn’t allow you to register your device and there is no reason for this app anyways. TD should allow use of generic authenticate apps (eg Google authenticate, Authy) that just work and allow users to turn off SMS 2FA.
