What people like
- Controls Sonos directly from Lock Screen.
- Much faster and simpler than official app.
- Developer support is quick and helpful.
- Great for setting playback shortcuts.
What they complain about
- App often fails to connect reliably.
- Many features require complex shortcut setup.
- Widgets need constant manual refreshing.
- UI design can be frustratingly small.
Great app
Possible to have a double wide widget?
Apple Watch shortcut
Apple Watch is unable to run shortcut without asking permission each time
Nice clean app
Nice clean app. No preset to set the hight audio on an Arc Ultra. No toggle spatial Audio
App redesign poor interface
What I liked about Soro was that it WAS one iPad screen, full sized, to manage the volume of all my different Sonos devices, so easy. However, now with the redesign instead of using the full screen, it uses about 1/6 of it, and I have to scroll to see all my speakers and inadvertently tap on something that I didn’t mean to change. I don’t see any settings to adjust either… Going back to the Sonos app 🤨
Setting loudness doesn't work
Not sure when this broke but using the new set loudness action does not do anything for my speakers. Toggling night mode is fine...
Finally Lock Screen Control
For a brief period, the Sonos app allowed you to control playback from your Lock Screen… then it went away. This Soro app now bridges the gap and allows you to do just that- plus a lot more. When I’m hosting people, I’m often skipping tracks, adjusting volume up or down, and each time I’d have to open my phone and get into the Sonos app. Not the biggest of first world problems, but when you are trying to be an attentive host, it’s nice to be on your phone as little as possible. A tap to wake it and a tap to skip, then my attention is back on my guests.
Skip this app if you want good lock screen controls!
App has more features than most others & looks nice, But man is the performance bad! I wanted to utilize lock screen & volume controls but they are unreliable. Lots of lag, delays, or no response. Constantly needs to be refreshed to work even slightly which is annoying. I requested a refund with Apple, thats how terrible this is. Good idea but needs work.
Instant purchase!
Been using this app for a couple of years now! I almost never open the Sonos app. My biggest complaint right now is that the live activity information does not persist.. so within seconds of the screen going off I have to keep clicking the refresh button or room that I’m controlling to see what’s currently playing. Please fix this!
Can’t load source
Appears there’s no way to play anything. Pushed all the buttons and none of them load content.
Clean but still limited by Sonos itself
I don't want to take my frustration with Sonos/apple/spotify out on Soro. Soro does thes best it can with what Sonos gives it. I got too excited by some online reviews for Soro and was hoping for more but ended up spending $8 for an EQ shortcut. Hoping to someday have a button that just plays my current Spotify session on a group of speakers.
Works flawlessly
I have been using it mostly for the shortcuts actions and it has been working flawlessly. It is simple to use, snappy and a joy to use.
Doesn’t enable Add to Apple Favorites or Playlists
The app description states that you can add the currently playing track to Apple Music Favorites via Shortcuts. Unfortunately this doesn’t work (no supported way to use the currently playing track using Apple Music track URL to favorite or add to playlist. Requesting Refund.
Really great! But
Can you please add mic control? Thanks! I use Soro daily in my shortcuts.
Disappointing lack of out of the box functionality
Everything seems to be done with shortcuts, so the actual app is lacking. For $7.99, I expected a quality app with shortcuts. Lots of real features (walkie talkie) but wish I could use then without having to set up trigger mechanisms.
Why are the volume controls so hard to click
They make the volume slider 5px tall and then expect your finger to activate and control it? Ends up dragging the entire window and not moving slider. Terrible terrible UI design
Love it! This takes Sonos to a whole new level!
This app accomplishes so many smart tasks that honestly should be available natively through the Sonos app. Since so many smart home functions are lacking in the Sonos app, this is the logical next best thing. It is awesome and more than worth the small price!
Got scammed
Doesn’t work. Lost $8.
Walkie talkie broken… Edit: found a workaround.
Walkie talkie shortcut simply doesn’t work when default Normal audio is selected. After changing to high quality audio, it works.
Great when it works, frustrating when it doesn’t
This has really changed the game for our nighttime routine, but it often requires that we re-choose the speakers within the Shortcut’s settings.
Best Sonos companion app
Soro simplifies playback on my Sonos system and allows me to set up shortcuts that initiate playback of my favorites and reset my preferred settings like volume and speaker groupings. I highly recommend this app for anyone that wants additional control of their Sonos experience.
Does not work
I purchased this app to do one thing: to create a shortcut to use the line-in connected to my turntable and select rooms to stream the sound to. The shortcut I created always tells me I've succeeded, but lo and behold, no sound, and I have to end up interacting with the Sonos app to select line-in. So I think it's safe to say this app does not function as advertised. Don't waste your money.
Excellent
10/10 — better than the OEM Sonos app 😂👏
Froze my Sonos
Great concept. Wish it worked !!! Had to reboot my Sonos. This app froze the whole thing up
Apple Music Integration 😘
The new Apple Music integration is perfect. There is no need for the Sonos app now.
Unreliable
Simply does not work reliably. Every destkop widgets require me to manually refesh them to get current status. Complete waste of time and money.
Awesome app for Sonos users!
Absolutely great. Thank you for developing this app.
Worked great until SONOS app remake mid-2024
Formerly a good tool for home automation and iOS shortcuts, at least until SONOS reinvented their app (no thanks SONOS)... now the functions do not function, and this app requires rewrite.
Soro is awesome
The Sonos app has many deficiencies. It is slow to connect, and it can be difficult to use for simply adjusting the volume. Soro solves those problems. And it is free!
Hard to use.
Can’t adjust different volume for different speakers which is the only reason I bought this. Very complicated to use.
Great app
Great app - really nice being able to control Sonos from my Lock Screen. Support is great as well - I had a temporary issue that the developer quickly helped me resolve.
Ms
In 40 years I’ve never download it a worse app than this. It does not connect. All it wants to do is send me to Shortcuts. It does absolutely nothing maybe I’m missing something but it certainly is not intuitive. Don’t waste your money.
