In-App Signup for Membership Times Out / Does Not Work
Tried to sign up for a “Pro” membership utilizing the in-app purchase flow, but upon pressing “Continue” the pop up screen disappears and the Apple Pay confirmation pop up does not appear.
Paid app with Additional Membership
I think it’s a bit shady this is a paid app that then locks most features behind an additional subscription. Ive seen other comments with the developer defending this by saying you can also buy individual feature à la carte without a full membership. And yes, you’ll see these marked in the application as “try free”—but it’s not free, since you had to pay to download the app. I think this app has a lot of potential, but please be aware that your first purchase is paying for a demo. EDIT: Adding following the developers response. To say 2/3s of features are available is again misleading. Take Animations for instance- one of the listed features in the app description. I counted over 60 animations available in your app. Only six of them are included in the base price. No one would reasonably expect that they would have less than 10% of a feature listed in the description when making an actual purchase. If I had three apples and let you take a single bite out of two of them - I couldn’t conscionably say you paid for 2/3s of my apples. I don’t think this is a poorly designed app, I just think you’re being opaque about what is available at what price. You responded with a “magazine” analogy and described the options to buy one issue or a whole subscription. But you have always been able to flip through magazines before purchasing them. And if I thumbed through a magazine and saw it only contained 10% of the cover story, then I certainly wouldn’t buy it.

Just let us buy the app and the features for a one time purchase, it’s a good app but not everything needs a subscription.
Order of magnitude better than the stock Hue app
Which isn’t saying much, of course. But even if the official Hue app *weren’t* miserable, I’d still love iConnectHue. All kinds of thoughtfully-implemented features, but doesn’t take long to get the hang of.
Total Scam. Shame on iConnectHue
This was a fantastic app until you updated it, and now our request requesting me to pay for something I already paid for. Whoever is in charge needs to reverse this decision. Why should I buy your lights if you’re gonna charge me more later than to operate them totally ridiculous!
Handy
The old widgets have now been replaced with new ones, which have limits and require a sub when you go above one small and one medium. The old “classic widgets” are now found under classic widget but may require a phone restart to appear. That or support did something server side like they did for the new ones. Useful tool to join across multiple hubs.
Pay to download, pay more to use basics, pay even more to use everything
Pay to download a base app and get almost no functionality (much less than the Philips Hue app), you then need to pay for a base membership to get a few free samples of the pro membership items but will need to individually buy them (not as much functionality as the Philips Hue app yet), finally you need to pay for a Pro membership to get full functionality and get all the animations/scenes for “free” (same as the Philips Hue app, but iConnectHue has more animations). Only get this if you are sure the Philips Hue app does not have the animations you need and know this app has it. Comparison: Color change: Philips Hue app matches all versions of iConnectHue Scenes: Philips hue app has more scenes than the base iConnectHue version of the app and the basic membership, but has a better ability to modify the scenes (even beats the pro membership) Animations: Philips hue app has more animations than the base iConnectHue app and the base membership. The pro membership has more animations than the Philips Hue app.
A decent app but not as good as it used to be to be
I use to love this app because it offered a lot more flexibility when it came to setting up hue switches… it seems like it’s starting to lack behind the default hue app in some ways though. The thing that bothers me most is that in the hue app you can set a button to cycle through up to 10 screens. This app only allows 5. I’m actually surprised they haven’t updated this yet. I do like that this app has more options for press and hold though. The other thing is this app doesn’t let you save hue effects to a scene. The default hue app does allow that. I do like that it has more options for selecting color temperatures… would be nice if you could type a value in though… would be a lot easier than trying to get the slider just right. This app also doesn’t support grouping scenes into folders, or even arranging scenes like the default app does.

Long time user here. This app keep getting better and better. The developer continues to add new features. Really appreciate everything and the ease of use. Highly recommend.

Does not support Festivia correctly
This app, unfortunately, does not support free placement of colors on the Festivia Christmas lights or other gradient lights. Edit: developers response is misleading. Festivia and other gradient lights are not fully supported. Specifically scattered modes do not work. Gaslighting is uncouth
👎Moved Widget functionality behind paywall with iOS 18. 👎
I would have given this app four or five stars except that they removed widget functionality with the latest iOS 18 update and now you must subscribe or pay $3.99 for a function that I was using for free for years up until this afternoon when I updated my os.

The app is $3.99 to download. Fair enough. If you want see the actual temperature (6500 Kelvin, for example), though, that's a PRO feature. $14.99 a year? This is misleading. Will be disputing this with Apple.

Works until it doesn’t
Been using this app since the last one Apple no longer supports…. $$ :-( lately on only one of my iOS devices it fails to function… tried removing it and re-downloading it to see how long it will last. Lately Apple has been disallowing functionality due to VPN usage. This also is very concerning as functionality is growing less and less since their AI efforts are growing more and more restricting.
Awful UI/UX
This is a very capable app, but navigating it is a nightmare. The icons are too abstract so there’s a lot of time spent just pressing random things to see what they do, and then trying to find out how to get back to the previous page. There are places where you drag and it can either scroll the whole window or adjust a light brightness level based on some invisible threshold that you can’t see. The ‘on/off’ button for a room is bottom-right on the summary page but bottom left when you go into the room’s page. The menu option for Automation leads to a page that does not let you set automation. Etc. It’s a usability nightmare, meaning I’m not tempted to buy any in-app purchases which might just make it even more confusing!

Going from basic to pro screwed this up. Rooms that used to work now show up with no lights. Paid $18 to get a project I didn’t want to deal with.
Overpriced
Call me cheap but it already cost to get the app, then cost for features etc .... Found the feature I was looking for while testing, and tells me to wait 15 minutes or to pay...it's just an app I don't understand the app market at this point everything is a subscription just let me pay once and move on. Taking money consistently is annoying the ecosystem cost enough
Still my go to after 10 years
I love this app and it’s one of the few that I happily choose to pay an annual subscription for (of course I pay for some subscriptions, just not very happily). I probably don’t use more than a quarter of its features, but I want to support them and make sure they continue to operate and keep making this app better and better. I have used it absolutely daily since 2015, as my stock of hue lights went from three to more than 30. It’s simply the best and most intuitive one I’ve used. Plus they are a great little company that never stops innovating, and in my direct experience is 100% responsive to customer inquiries and issues. You just can’t beat that, and you just can’t expect every part of what they do for a living to be offered for free. So I pay for it, and every year or two when they drop a major release, I update my review. I do that for exactly 2 apps on the well over 200 apps on my iPhone. So make of that what you will.

Long time user some issues
Long time user. Great and powerful app. Only issue is it constantly logs me out of both my remote hue bridges. Every few days I have to re login to both. Its so frustrating.
One lasting issue…
For years now it seems like every month or two my remote access will return an error notification when I leave and return home. This means I have to open the app, go to remote access, log into my hue account through my email account, and tap “Allow Access”. This is really annoying. I’ve allowed it, why won’t it stick? I always have to wonder when I leave if my lights are actually going to turn off. It’s supposed to make life easy, not stressful…
Interface 👌🏻 In app transactions 👎🏻
The interface is actually great, the price for the initial app is fine, £3.49 on offer and £4.99 normal price. The gripe for this is, and I’ve requested a refund, I’m not paying an extra £2.49 for three colours to spin in an automatic cycle for christmas. That’s why I wanted it, if it were like £0.89 or something to unlock that. Fine… I guess. I can just automatic this with the Philips Hue original app, which I will. For how long it will take me, it wouldn’t be £2.49 worth.

Bought in 2021 & used every day since. Some favorite features: - Hold for secondary action & long press exclusivity. - Time alternations. - Inactivity timers as low as 30 secs. - Battery indicators & low warning. - Toggle motion sensors & set lights color. - Adjust motion sensor sensitivity.

“This is a new device or function that wasn't supported when you purchased the app.” This is the message I get when trying to use this app. I’ve already nought the app, how many times do we have to throw money at you?? In reading the dev responses here, it seems this app is their whole career & needs ongoing subscriptions. As I’ve already paid, I’m not doing it again. Deleting it & suggest anyone reading reviews takes a second thought on this one.
Great app overall but slow in adopting new features.
Great app and simple to use, more ideal than the original Hue app. Only orobe is they still don’t support hue gradient in scenes. And since the dimmer switch accessories only work with scenes this makes having a gradient strip useless. Hopefully the developers can allow gradient settings to be saved to scenes in the future. This would take the app to 5 stars.
Great when it works
The app was great at first as it was working, and I bought the full all package (forgot name) subscription. -I have no issues connecting on the hue app, not with my bridge or lights or anything else. -Likewise, no issue with range, nor with WiFi and Zigbee connectivity or signal. All hue products are up-to-date including bridge. Sensors perfectly functional. Same device. Latest iOS. Narrowed down every possible issue you can think of. -Have even changed bridge channel, reconnected bridge to both hue and I connect hue, signed in and out , enabled and re enabled remote access. Deleted and redownloaded the app. 0 difference. All permissions enabled including local network, Bluetooth, location. - Despite this, ICH has trouble finding my bridge about 50% of the time. This error forbids me from controlling my lights. However, Hue app is perfectly fine. -Usually just works a few hours later. But is disappointing. -There also doesn’t appear to be a simple way to alter light speed beyond minimum seconds. However I’ve not had a full look on the app (need to find time) to do this. I otherwise really love that the devs behind this are small-scale, and have achieved so much, enabled so much function. Most importantly, a lot of credit is due for iconnecthue being the only iOS 3rd party Hue app that is still frequently updated with the ever-evolving iOS. Much respect there. Others still charge for even poorer functionality. Even if I don’t get access half the time to this platform, I do appreciate it. Hopefully devs can help me get it resolved, if they will accept that I’ve covered all basic troubleshooting areas. There may be an ‘ignore bridge’ option in settings.. however I can’t see half the settings’ names as they’re too long for text size and finish with … Merry Xmas regardless, got a nice custom xmas scene :!
Formerly great app spoiled by ads and IAPs
I used to love this app, but now there’s just too much pestering to buy gaudy add-ons, upgrades and subscriptions. I can see how it’s a full time job supporting all the latest Hue products, but I’d rather pay one honestly earned update price from time to time than have what’s supposed to be a home automation app turn into a tacky storefront.

A good solution for motion sensors but not perfect
Largely a great app that does most of what I want with motion sensors (which are simply impossible to get functioning well with Home or Hue app). One thing that’s really frustrating is I paid for the week/weekend split and it turns out the app only allows 5 splits of time on the inactivity side for the weekend and only one during the week, really odd and I’m assuming it’s a bug. My only other feedback is that even though you can split the day into 5 chunks of time they can’t be discreet. For example if I wanted the motion detector to work from 9-10 and then 11-12 I’d have to also use one of my 5 times for 10-11.

It’s worth it.
This app gets the best out of my Hue system. It’s worth it for the ease and mastery of my Hue setup. I’m saying that as a subscriber. One of the best apps of the whole App Store in my opinion.
beware
i purchased this app because i wanted one of my lights to pulse in a way to make it look like it was breathing. i googled online and this app came up saying it did it. within 12 seconds after setting up i realized that this was false. i went to request a refund and the app was pending for a week and now they are refusing my refund. there is nothing this app does that the original hue app doesn’t do that i want. that to me is false advertising. i do not recommended this app

Just want to say that this looks like a great app to control your Hue and Friends of Hue lights. I’ve not been through all the functions yet so this review maybe a little early. However, I’m a little saddened that I cannot run the Discotainment addon. After purchasing this I only then read that it’s Hue lights only, I am running a third party strip light controllers which the App does see but not the addon. Not the apps fault just wish I’d read the info before purchase. Will this ever be implemented?

Cool features, not the most usable app
The good: accessory configuration is way better than Hue app and other 3rd party apps The bad: I find the UX/UI quite confusing at times. Scenes: you will now have 3 different types. Hue scenes, HomeKit scenes, iConnectHue scenes, the one being one being the only one compatible. I’m not sure I feel like starting recreating all my scenes if I move away from iConnectHue.
The Philips Hue app & clearly a work of love.
This app is the only app to use. It is wonderfully written and has a user interface far better than other apps I’ve tried using. It allows you to use the basic functionality of Hue switches, and will also allow you to go farther in implementing sophisticated switch behaviors. I’ve been using the app for 3 years now, and it just keeps getting better.
Going back to Hue app
The Philips Hue app doesn’t charge a subscription to use a widget. I paid for this app years ago and yet I can’t use the most basic features. I hope more people follow suit and stand up to these greedy practices.

Easy to use and configure custom lights. Far too many in app purchases.

Now it’s so buggy, connection issues. Won’t fade on demand. Some lights stay on when the rest in a room fade. I’m out 😷
Needs improvements
Nice app but needs more improvement and bugs fixing, for example every time i click once to choose a scene it takes me to editing colour even though the instruction say click once to activate the scene and click twice for editing!!! Needs more dynamic animations ideas like candle, rain, thunder, colour wheels rotation, disco animations not only scene....plus the app is a bit laggy and slow.
