- Navigation feels cumbersome and confusing
- Quizzes lack clear answer explanations
Instrument Rating Course is the best for pilots
IMO Boldmethod has the best courses for pilots, especially the Instrument Rating course. I passed my ASEL Instrument Rating Checkride using this course. I also used Cirrus Approach’s Instrument Rating course which is good, but Boldmethod’s course is much more comprehensive. The new learning UI and UX introduced with the Instrument Rating course is also a major improvement. I highly recommend all Boldmethod’s courses.
Great training with room to improve
I love the way the material is presented. The visual highlight with text block selections is great. I love the quizzes and the potential length. The improvement I’d suggest is that when I get an answer wrong twice and the program gives me the answer ‘how’ it arrived at that answer would be most welcomed. Often while I might know the right answer, I’m unsure why that is the right answer.
Cumbersome!
There’s no doubt very good content in the course segments in this app. But it wasn’t particularly what I was looking for as a help in making better landings. And, I found the app layout to be maddeningly cumbersome and confusing with regards to progressing through the course. It would back up to a segment that had previously completed and I had a hard and frustrating time moving to the segment. Or, I couldn’t complete a segment and move to the next lesson. It would take me back to previous lessons after I hit the finish button. It was frustrating! I’ve been using Apple products for nearly 50 years so I’m not a complete amateur with programs and apps.

Airspace course
I am almost done with this course, as a preliminary to taking my BFR next week. I am getting a great deal of information that I have missed in the past 45 years of flying. I find the organization of the course to be smooth and easy to understand. I have only one real complaint: I would like to have explanations of the answers in the quizzes, and sometimes I get the right answer or the wrong answer and I don’t know why. It’s a small complaint, as. I have learned a great deal. Thank you for the course.
Somewhat happy
Quits on me every once in awhile for no reason
Best IFR course out there
I have been looking at and working with quite a few courses, but Boldmethod is my favorite. Just the right speed of talking us through everything and GREAT info. Thank you!
First Time User
I decided that I needed a little help with my airspace knowledge so I signed up for a review with Boldmethod. I love the format and ease of use, it’s really helpful to be able to keep taking the quizzes until you are satisfied with your scores, but I wish that there was a better way to go back and review those areas with low scores. It may be there but I haven’t found it yet. Still, I would be happy to recommend the Boldmethod site for both old and new Pilot’s. I plan on taking some of the advanced courses in the near future. The best
I’m a CFI and this is hands down the best course for instrument students and even instrument rated pilots refreshing their skills. It truly is worth the money.
Best way to learn
These guys really are the best. I’ve bought every study guide available and bold method is definitely the best
Experienced Military Pilot
I fly just frequently enough to feel current and comfortable in an airplane. This is a great app to keep anyone’s mindset always fresh on those IFR and VFR rules and techniques. It’s a great refresher and a great extension beyond their already fantastic website.
Instrument Course Review
It’s been a couple of months since I took the instrument written knowledge exam. I purchased this course to help me prepare for the checkride. It’s thorough and logically presented. Aleks is a great instructor. He’s very easy to understand and he doesn’t bore me to sleep like some of the competitors’ courses do. Great job and thank you to the folks at Boldmethod!
Incredible Free Tools
The information available for students, especially instrument students, is amazing. The format allows easy absorption of data and the structure is aesthetically pleasing as well. Boldmethod… you guys did great.
Best instructional videos by far
phenomenal instruction that is current and in-depth. I’ve purchased several pilot courses over the years, this one is the best by far and well worth the price
Great Explanations!
Always love listening to Boldmethod. Precise information on great topics, both IFR and VFR with fun quizzes.
