I love Protake and taught myself how to use it. It’s the most advanced, easy to learn app and in my opinion! However, I’ve been wanting to create reaction videos. Unfortunately, Protake doesn’t give any options for that. Please consider giving us a way to do that. I would be okay with using a mask option to place myself in the corner of a primary video that I’m reacting to via a link that’s placed in Protake. Can you please help by coming up with a way to do reaction videos while maintaining the beauty effects? I don’t know if it’s possible but that would be great. Thank you.

Worst app / freezes and overheat
Just subscribed to protake pro for more manual control , and my phone just keeps overheating, the videos are unwatchable lagging, I would like my money back , such a waste of money and time
I can only suggest two improvements
I like this app even more than the BlackMagic camera app. I find it easier to use, and I like the presets. I'd like to see three improvements: #1, when recording to an external drive, I'd like to keep the same file naming as files saved internally. Instead, the app creates a folder called "dcim" and saves the videos with just 0001, 0002, so I have duplicate file names. This also causes my Mac mini to treat the hard drive as a camera, so it doesn't allow me to import files into Final Cut Pro in an external location. #2, I like the button that hides camera controls and clears the edges of the screen. But I think stopping the recording should bring this back. I'd like it to hide when filming and come back when filming stops. Maybe a third auto-hide option could be added. #3 I'd like to find a desktop version that can be used as a monitor for other devices.
Interface is great, 4K and or 60fps modes do not work on iPhone 15 Pro Max
The interface looks fantastic and intuitive. However the app is useless as you can’t switch to 4K or 60fps on iPhone 15 Pro max

Today I shot whole day by keeping storage options to camera roll, but I got shocked I did not found any glimps of my entire day shot videos. Please help me with the procedures to recover my videos.
Almost useful
I appreciate the great image with lots of features. Two problems at the moment: 1. I cannot integrate an external mic (which is working fine with the iPad’s native Camera) into this app. 2. There’s no website to find a solution.

App crashing
App is crashing on my iphone xr which is currently running on ios 17.0.3.
Remote monitoring works but is limited
I started using this primarily for the remote monitoring function. Overall the app is better designed than any of the other camera apps I’ve tried. The remote monitoring, though, works but is very limited. It doesn’t show grids or tilt and it only has focus and zoom controls. If the remote side saw exactly what the recording side saw and gave access to the full controls, this app would be perfect.
Great functionality but couldn’t save
Functionality list was impressive. I got it because of social media review. I made a mistake by testing only on a short recording and was happy with it. During a live performance of my kid’s symphony group, using my iphone pro max with plenty of memory left, it consistently ran into ‘out of storage’ problems and cost me a few recordings. Test it out first.
Good app with major flaw
No DJI osmo support. It’s the number one gimbal and very popular among the exact demographic this app is targeting. App is almost useless without DJI support.

Good and Bad
Switched from Filmic Pro that went subscription and I can’t even find their legacy version anymore. Protake free version comes close to Filmics free version but there’s things I don’t see. I can’t compare paid versions because it’s preposterous to pay monthly for a camera app. Compared to Filmic, there don’t seem to be as many audio/video codec choices, and I can’t rotate the app’s landscape mode 180° so I can hold the camera in my left hand (left hand holds left side of iPhone, where camera is - hand can barely hold phone so as not to block camera). But I like the overall layout of the app. The beauty features are neat and work pretty well. I never saw that on Filmic Pro. The pro features I’m really glad are there. Manual focus works smoothly as long as you’re on the standard lens, not wide lens. False color is awesome. I even love the red outline when you record the way Sony and Atmos do it. Multiple levels of stabilization is great. The portrait effect is a neat idea, albeit the little gimmicky and flawed. There is a clear cut out outline between the subject and focus in the background. I’ve seen much better results from applications that to the effect with a still image. Of course it’s going to be way more difficult and processor intensive with video, but it certainly would have been better if they found a way to make the future look better. It certainly doesn’t look pro or cinematic, I guess that’s why it’s not in the “pro” shooting mode It definitely has a good handful of great features that work really well. That’s why it’s so frustrating and disappointing that other features which I think are equally important don’t work; like more codec options and being able to hold the phone in another hand. Even for a free version, I feel it should have those fundamental features. Add the fact that Apple won’t let you make this the default camera app, that’s just more reason to continue using the built in camera which while it doesn’t have manual audio control, it does allow left-handed use, and can open from the Home Screen.
Not good as other apps
I have been having this app for a long time and compare to other apps I don’t see anything different however they advertise, film looks , clog e.t.c those are only achievable in 8-bit recoding but as soon as you switch to 10-bit they can’t be used. Anyhow zebra’s that displays in pro mode which I can’t figure out to turn it off. I would rather pay for a different app which comes with features that they advertise for at least.
Some good, some bad
I started with 5 stars for the array of recording formats and ProRes support, and my first impression of the great UI. Then I subtracted one star for absolutely no support or any way to contact the developer. I took away another star for not being able to record in Log except in 8-bit SDR. No 10-bit SDR or HDR Log recording. No constant frame rate recording in 10-bit SDR or HDR, either. The developer doesn't provide any LUTs for this camera. The competition does. Minus a half-star. Another half-star goes away for the subscription pricing model. It's only a half-star deduction because of the two apps that are available that IMO are as overall full-featured as Protake, one is a very reasonable one-time purchase and the other requires a subscription at double the price of Protake. So we're down 3 stars overall, but I give one back for the outstanding set of metadata that is recorded with each clip. Three stars. YMMV.

Freezes iphone 14 pro
My phone heats up like ironbox within a minute after launching the app and I have to wait for a while before I can start using my phone. Please do something about it because right now this app is really not for professional videography. Would rate with 0 stars if there was an option.
Great. Needs Inverted Mode
Amazing app. Needs a way to turn invert iPhone to use lens on right side - not all gimbals or setups work with lens on left side.
Protake video app keeps saying that my storage is full when it’s not.
I took a 20 min video with protake and it said it couldn’t save my video because it said my memory was full…Even though this was not true I then took a 20 min video with my normal iPhone camera and it saved just fine. This is very frustrating. Will give five stars if they fix this.
Really cool but falls a little short
So far so good, I’ve noticed some bugs: -monitoring 4k 30fps video with standard stabilization on crashes on iphone within 30 seconds while recording -can’t view/connect more than one camera at a time- whichever phone camera I setup first is monitored properly but adding another never works I have an Iphone 13 pro and ipad pro 2, there’s also no official support channel for the app

Unable to Connect my Smooth 5 with Protake App
My smooth 5 connects Flawlessly with Filmic Pro but it doesn’t even show up in the bluetooth scan of Protake app. Im using Iphone 14 pro. Team Pls help soon.

Every time unexpectedly close app
When i am set to mobile frame aspect ratio, but it not set. Only take 16:9 ratio. Pls fix this problem otherwise superb. Last fews days may after ios 14 this problem facing with this app. Please fis this problem as soon as possible
Easy to use but some features are missing
Overall it’s an easy-to-use interface but there are some improvements that I think are needed:- 1) The focus control dials are too small for manual adjustments, need to enlarge them somehow. 2) I believe the DJI Gimbals are not yet supported in the app. They should add this support. 3) As far as I could tell, there is no way to change the speed of automatic focus pulling. If it’s not there then this feature should be added. So far, only these things are keeping me from subscribing to the pro features.
