What people like
- Real extensions block ads well
- Fast and lightweight performance
- Great for privacy focused users
What they complain about
- Keeps crashing and freezing randomly
- Extensions often stop working in background
- Support never actually helps users
- Too many annoying interface bugs
Update Fixed Any Issues
Like it much better after the update. Nice browser!
Super Buggy | Blank Tabs
Orion is horrible, particularly with the extensions. Dark Reader and other extensions will stop working once app is in background, this can happen within 60 seconds. The only fix is to completely close out the app and reopen, rinse and repeat. There is also no one to Mass-Add Tabs (Bookmark All Tabs is missing). Storage is not full, so that has nothing to do with it and this is on an iOS 18+/26 Device.
Move multiple tabs
I can only seem to organize tabs into groups one at a time Simple fluid tab management update Maybe an enhanced video player if possible I’ve seen a few apps try I like aloha browsers current approach swiping for video controls are rare but very nice I’d make this my default browser at this point It would be nice to have the menu button available within the search bar area or as a hold gesture as an option other than just the tool bar for a slightly cleaner look
Something changed
Used to be fantastic but ever since the latest OS update it’s getting laggier and laggier and constantly freezing. Tried clearing caches, changing settings, always keeps happening. Love all the other Kagi offerings though but unfortunately I had to switch back to a different browser on my phone.
Lacks Functionality
Good browser but using the features breaks the websites when searching. The inability to use the “vertical tabs” option is also a hindrance. I do appreciate the soft update to the UI, but customization options are still subpar compared to competitors. The performance has improved but could be contributed to the iOS 26.6.1 update.
First desktop level browser for iPad
The first browser that can replace Firefox on my Mac including complex filtering rules and many user scripts, access to eruda for web inspection via violentmonkey extension… After adjusting a few of my filters, 100% of the web sites I usually go are presented the way I like. I have been waiting since the original iPad for this!!! Big tip sent to the developer(s)!
Bugs don’t get fixed
Orion has had a bug for over a year that causes search results to not be shown unless you open and close the tab switcher. There are discussions about this on Reddit from months ago but the developer is either unaware or doesn’t care. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the issue persists. I am switching to the Quiche browser
Swiping left to right to close tab in the grid view not working
Overall good desige, just unable to close tab by swiping from left to right on the tab in the grid view, which most browsers can do. Update: Received reply from the developer suggesting me to go to their forum to ask for the missing feature, and that forum always think I am a robot and don't let me ti sign up using Apple or Google account. Very frustrating and time-wasting, just for a small basic feature that most other major browsers have.
really hope it success, but…
like the concepts and vision, but small annoying bugs are like marmots, keeps popping here and there. appreciate the honest update changes logs indicating the fixed bugs and improvements, unlike some other apps always saying “ fixed some bugs “, but as for orion, it has gone too far. the change logs gives unconfident feeling.
Good but not consistent
I’ve used this browser for over 6 months but I’m switching back to Brave. It had weird slowness navigating to new pages on existing tabs. I like it but not stable enough for every day use.
Good at Everything Always
The most consistently functioning browser, desktop view friendly, uncompromising quality. It doesn't allow Facebook to overthrow the audio of a Youtube video if it happens to be playing in the background when I open it. Best browser currently
Tabs
I don’t need 3 different ways to close a tab displayed at all times. Swiping right on a tab was perfectly fine. Now there are multiple ways to accidentally close tabs just by scrolling. Annoying change that also looks bad
Great app
First Nice Work. actually only blocked in desktop mode can fixit thanks
Poor-ion...
I was using it for a while and it was great. Recently, not so great. Crashes every so often, YouTube website will sometimes freeze or won't respond to input. Hopefully it gets better. As for right now, it's off my phone. It crashed and didn't save the last two hours of browsing history.
Great But Buggy
It's nice to be able to use real extensions. Annoying bugs like tabs freezing make certain web based activities unusable.
I’ve tried all the browsers…
Orion absolutely smokes every single one of them. It isn’t even close. Including Safari which has become so bloated and so restricted, I’m surprised the app doesn’t require a hand crank to push it along.
1.5 Update broke
Since the 1.5 update yesterday browser has not worked. Pages don’t load.
Tool bar location
I really enjoy this browser but the latest update puts the tool bar at the bottom of the screen which is confusing and inefficient. Is there a setting to move it back to the top?
Promising, but not quite there yet
Orion is a very promising browser, but it's still in beta and is still very buggy. I've decided to put it on the back shelf for a while till they get things ironed out. I had tons of issues with bookmark sync between desktop, phone, and iPad. I really do like the concept--ads are blocked, it's very fast, and the interface is almost exactly like Safari.
Pop ups broken in bad way
Great browser except certain sites are unusable. Sites that require popups to function (like websites with manuals to view, or internal work websites) are totally broken because there is no way to let popups be on and function normally. In safari you get a popup to allow the popup to happen. That works great! Because of that I cannot use this browser.
Great browser, yet it needs more customization options
Fast, lightweight, reliable and private. Yet it would be nice to have an option to change the Home Page background and some alternative app icons too.
Agonizingly slow
Fast?!?!?!? Ha! Agonizingly slow loading by times. Screen goes black at random at which time you have to reload for the next 5 minutes. This browser is trash
Peak but please bring back old gui
Please add an option in the settings to bring back the old gui, since the Liquid Glass design can be somewhat inconvenient on the iPad, and an option to use the old ui, with its tabs on top and no Liquid Glass and all would be a huge help.
Once great, now extremely unreliable
Used to be my default browser but the iPhone app has been working horribly lately and no one ever responds to feedback on the support website. Had to switch back to Safari.
slow and super clunky
youtube ad blockers are not turned on by default, which was my only reason for downloading this. Even with youtube ad blockers on, youtube behavior is super clunky and awful, full screen view screws up CONSTANTLY.
Exactly what I needed!
Been using this app for a year now. It supports Chrome, Firefox and local extensions. I tweak/create local extensions to block doom scrolling features and annoyances on social media
Doesn't do the one thing it offers
Unfortunately, I made an extremely simple extension for this browser. It is capable of reading it since it loads the name and notes what permissions it needs, but then it doesn't actually install or work. Given that this is sort of the only differentiator of this browser, I have to give it one star. No point to having it.
Amazing Tool with Quirks
Indispensable in an ad laden world. Struggles a bit with dynamic type on IOS
Used it for a while but
Tried using this for a while but at some point i started getting weird page loads like on sites like reddit. Good browser when i can actually browse
Was great…
So it just started randomly crashing for no reason, reinstalling did nothing, and I generally I have zero idea what the problem is… Info Version: 26 beta Phone: iPhone 12
Is possible to bring ublock origin ?
That will be greates browser to make the unlock origin work perfectly. Will it come? Thanks !
Slow
Slowest browser I’ve ever used. No wonder you need to falsely market it as “fastest mobile browser “ instead of letting the results do the talking.
Easier Kagi Search Integration
Found this easier to use than the Kagi Safari extension. You gotta change the icon, though. Icon makes this seem like an AI forward browser, and it’s not!
About at my limit
As the title says, I’m about at my limit for the clunkiness of this browser. I love the idea of privacy, but there are just too many issues to forgive at this point, which is a shame. I really wanted the idea of Orion to work, but after more than a year of use, I’m throwing in the towel. Many pages just don’t load properly. Some just cause the software to lock up entirely, forcing me to hard-quit and relaunch. It’s noticeably slower than other options and I find that I often have to resort to other browsers just to regain basic functionality for websites that I have to use. And its password manager regularly fails to work. Maybe I’ll check back in a year from now.
Good but has its problems
As others have review the ad block isn’t perfect and recently I’ve had another huge problem. All my tab groups have been getting deleted basically every time I close the app. I’ve lost probably nearly 100 tabs trying to figure this out while still using it. Fix tab groups or allow me to open all recently closed tabs and this probably goes back to 5 star.
Good direction
I recently switched to iPad for coding. This browser is awesome. There still a lot to do, i missing sidebar tabs badly. And I would love to see some sort of Inspect element eventually. Overall amazing experience, it is the closest thing that comes to a real browser.
Used to be great but needs work
The majority of random sites have been breaking for me lately in the same way, they freeze while loading and then I have to quit the app or it will never finish loading, can't even hit the back button or close tab, it becomes unresponsive.
Super good but I would like to see some features
The browser is super clean looking and has ad blocking as good as brave and small but satisfying settings I haven’t seen on any other browser but I haven’t seen the ability to customize any menus like the ones that pop up with the three dot button and that’s kinda frustrating because they display the extensions there and some of them I don’t really need to be looking at also my biggest problem with the browser is that it’s missing the ability to pop up with the search bar as soon as the app is opened witch is something so small but a feature I love on other browsers overall though it’s the best browser I’ve ever seen
Buggy, especially with starting a new search
It’s a decent alternative; however it’s quite buggy and needs lots of improvement. The biggest grief I have is starting a new search. Sometimes it takes 5-6 seconds from opening a new tab to letting me type my search keywords. Also, the first attempt 100% ends up a blank page; I have to search the same thing again to get to the search results (via Google, in my case). I was quite hopeful when I found this browser but all the quirks stop me from taking this browser seriously.
Flickering colors
Liquid Glass may have the design element of changing light text on dark background and vice versa depending on the context underneath, but A) you don’t have to follow Apple’s dumb design decision here and B) if you do, you should respect the system setting for Reduce Transparency which should put a blank space toolbar behind said UI elements to avoid this flickering. Scrolling and seeing the text/controls invert flickering is distracting and regardless of whether it was Apple’s design, this decision by Apple was sloppy and distracting. At the very least there should be the option to disable it.
Finally I don’t have to deal with YouTube Shorts Brainrot!
After getting rid of shorts on desktop via chrome extensions, and the YouTube app to discourage shorts further, I finally permanently removed the brainrot inducing stain on humanity that is YouTube shorts thanks to this browser’s support for extensions!
Trash
I can’t query unless setting default browser. Pathetic.
Good, but has bugs
As fast as safari with better customization/privacy feature set. Bugs: -Too many open tabs ~200, and Orion wont open, only fixed by reinstalling app in extreme cases. (seems to be a ram issue as it can be fixed sometimes by closing other apps) -Back button sometimes goes back 2 or 3 times rather than once. -Certain sites will not load whatsoever (Rarely). -Bottom navigation bar will get stuck in place or disappeared until app restart. -Bottom navigation bar will lose buttons/functionality until app restart -Closing 5+ tabs at once can freeze app for 1+ minutes -Closing current tab sometimes sends you to the top of the tab group rather than to the next in line/last active tab -downloads menu cannot be accessed from button directly in nav bar, only from popup menu downloads -Orion takes progressively longer to open the more tabs are open even if they are hibernating.
Recent update made completely unusable
For a couple weeks now, pages get stuck at like 10% loading mark. Sometimes will work, most of the time will not.
option to browse in Private only
It keeps closing my Private windows. I only browse Private. I don’t want cookies or history saved. I still want to be able to return to my open private windows. Please fix!!!!!!
Yes excellent!
Smooth working tool, efficient, fast, user friendly, a pleasure to get actions completed effectively!
Chrome, Firefox extensions
The extensions almost always never worked.
Fantastic, But I Recently Have Been Having Issues
Honestly it would be a solid 5 stars from me, if I hadn’t been having problems with the app recently. I mostly use it for ad-block and background play with YouTube. Though for a while now after IOS 26 launched with the Liquid Glass update, YouTube specifically won’t display text anywhere on the site. The odd thing is if I open the link to the website or any video on it through google or any other search browser, it temporarily shows the text until I click onto a different video through YouTube.
Buggy
The browser can be very unstable at times like crash entirely when a pop up opens or constantly open and close the keyboard when in landscape mode when trying to open a new tab. Sometimes it closes all my tabs when the app restarts.
I lowered my 5 star rating
I prefer the appearance and functionality of Orion Browser (as still currently shown in the preview photos), which existed before the recent update. The toolbar keeps changing between white and black while scrolling, often so quickly that it has a flashing effect.
