Respect

I respect this game cause despite being free to play it has no ads, in return it has a lot of pay to win, but the level of cost people have to pay is actually insane. Stuff that would take me maybe a day in game people are spending 20 bucks on, so this isn’t exactly the game devs fault that it’s pay to win, pay to win is a choice by the players while ads are a choice forced upon them. What I’m saying is this game has earned my respect for being a decent game and didn’t try to sell out by making the only good way to progress to spend money. For example I’m my shard currently I’m up next to a lot of the people who spend money In game. It just takes some skill, but be warned there are some people who spend way too much on the game who propel themselves to the top with literally thousands of dollars, we call him crazy Carl.

So close but the loss of Creativity, diversity and poor PvP all made this a pass for me.

I tried this game for a significant while and it is a mixed bag that i give a harsh score because of what could have been. The way you start things is creative but within a few levels you are funneled into a pattern starves your creativity. You start off designing three important things, your crest, the Lord and Lady of your kingdom. It lets you make them well enough and with some doing you can do East Asian and black folk are just a color job. If you are and want to have a Europeans look and game they have you covered. They will be human. Now the crest is a fun thing to do and you can redo them anytime (the royals not so much ) . You will get to make may rolls with classes only make two of the miners and only one of the others (your mate will be one) leave it like that so you can marry (They don’t tell you that ) also marry like to like class to like class so when they bonk they can magnify their abilities. As your king home grows you will have to take a single form for your keep and buildings look around or ask others can help you. There will be no real creativity here as well. When you sleep you should make a good alliance (The ones I had were great I actually miss them) as your keep will often not hold. In fact if you are hit at random you will not be able to strike back. As you try to build your family that too will be restricted.
Do not expect to see any brown skinned humans as heroes There is only one East Asian. Understand you will find elves, orcs, undead and Europeans - it that is an issue you are warned. You can and should try to get a dragon and likely you will get it by building your Keep. Never stop building. They will give you gold but the resources are not all easy to get and often they have the same icons but the money .. they have a 100 kinds of in game season money. Confusing yes but creative no. You will have to spend a lot of money or marry into better royals - you do as you like there. Your book marks will disappear often so don’t rely on them. The PVP is far from good. Limitations on who can attack who is loose at best. Your armies may not Avenue able to help you by where they spawn from. If you are attacked you can be attacked over and over and not actually know where the person that attacked you was unless you already had a relationship with them .. seriously! The creativity is too tight and the fixes obvious. So many almost great ideas in the package. But it just misses the mark.

Good but not great

I wanna say thanks to the men and women in development who work on this game. This game connects people from different religions, backgrounds and countries all over the world to be able to come together and achieve a common goal. Starting off it’s a pretty good game, the game map is huge and it feels like you’re entering another world when you play. Most games of this genre are still using the old square checker board map. The counties have a lot of PvE’s so you’ll definitely stay busy because another thing I like about this game is NO ENERGY CAP, YAY! That alone makes this a wonderful game to play. Having to wait until your energy builds back up or purchase energy to play the game makes me never wanna play the game again. Thank you for that. Something else I like that this game doesn’t do is teleport cities. It’s not realistic and so un-original. Having to breakdown the base and having some time for it to be rebuilt is the best thing I’ve seen in any of the other games of this genre, I think that’s more original. Being able to interact in the keep is pretty cool a lot of games don’t do that with their castles. Penalties for attacking lower tier players is also great Things that would’ve liked to see in the game is more stats. Players like games that put as much stats in the game to see how you compare with other players, stats that players like to see in this types of games are battles won and lost, attacks won and lost, defenses won and lost, battle win/ loss ratio, troop kill/death ratio, castles destroyed, monster kills, destroyed enemy power, tributes sent, resources collected just to name a few. Something that I felt missing in this game was some sort of arena where you could send nobles to battle. The mobile game “Knighthood” is a perfect example of something that would fit perfectly in a game such as this one. I would’ve liked to do more in the keep, the mobile game “Castles Elder Scrolls” is a perfect example of keep interactions and making the keep another part of the game to have fun in, I would’ve also liked to be able to equip champions with equipment like in other games to boost their abilities and change the names of the champions to make the game more personalized. the kingdom needs more buildings in it to take up a lot of empty space, how are the armies healing with out infirmaries and med tents. What about traps, moats, things that they had in that era and other games do have these in their games. The more realistic the better. I would’ve liked to have seen day night cycles rain, snow, tornadoes, who goes through the trouble to put birds and roaming live stock in the game and not add elements to the game to make it more alive and immersive. Water, what army marches without water. Speaking of water how about naval units and islands to trade on and have naval battles to add another element to the game. A game like this has the potential to add even more upgradable troops at least up until the modern era where troops can have muskets and possibly beyond. All these games stop at a certain era in time which is a waste because the potential is limitless with upgrading and keeping players hooked. Things I didn’t like about the game the biggest thing was the campaign for the dragon is awful. It’s super hard to beat to the point I don’t think it’s meant for anyone to get the dragon lol. I think it’s put there for a tease. Your finger hurts after so long of dragging your finger across the screen I was so sad because I knew I was giving up on getting the dragon. It’s a part of the game I’ll never get to experience. I hate those type of games any ways so that didn’t help either. Another thing i really disliked about the game was that all those PVE’s looking like statues. The PVE’s should be more interactive instead of us waiting to attack them they should be attacking us as well periodically wasted opportunity to make the game more interesting. It would’ve been nice to attack a PVE after it sacked a city and took the loot back to its layer and it kept doing until an actual player beat it and was able to take the loot from the PVE and it started the cycle over again just wishful thinking. Overall it’s an ok game it has potential and room for growth and to morph into something great I’m looking forward to see where it’s headed in the future.

Promised ratings change.

I love this game and normally would recommend it. There is a great balance between pvp and pve. A good alliance makes all the difference. There is pay to win but there are always people at my level. However, the only thing keeping this from being five stars is the incredible lack of mines. Before the merge we could find mines for our dailies and improvements. Now, there is never an open iron mine unless you find a kind soul that will switch you. The emerald and sulfur are almost as bad. The merger jammed too many people into a place that lacks sufficient ore nodes. If this could be fixed, or give better rewards from the ore refinement it would be perfect. Update 2026: with a new and larger map my earlier concern has been fixed. I promised one of the devs that when they gave us army presets I would make my review 5 stars and I did. There are changes I would still like to see but the Dev team is responsive and easy to chat with.

Loosing interest

Rewards are getting hard to win. I don’t see why they make people fight over rewards but you can easily get sniped. Imagine spending hundred’s of dollars to get pushed out of 5th and loose your chance of getting a reward. Least they could do is let people buy the one of time reward if they missed it. No matter if it’s a global event or a shard event anyone at the last minute can snipe you for the rewards you thought you could win. I’ve spent way too much already and still can’t win special rewards but hey I guess I’ll just stop spending so much. Seems like they make more money letting people fight for a reward then to just sell the reward for a price. Once you realize how much money you spend and you loose out on those rewards after spending hundred’s of dollar’s it really just burns you out. Now I’m just going to give up on those special rewards and try to continue playing but I’m loosing interest. If anyone is reading this..save your money and don’t waste it on this game. I’ve spent thousands to get rewards so I don’t loose out on them but I can’t even compete anymore because I’m not as rich as most people on this game. I’ve come to an understanding I just need to quit cold turkey and give up on thinking I can win. I’ve been sniped to many times to care anymore

my experience in the game

The game is actually good at fist, but little by little you realize it’s pay-to-win. The game heavily favors those who pay, and if all the strong players form an alliance, they literally prevent others from growing. The penalties are also too weak to prevent someone with overwhelming power from attacking a weak player. My recommendation is, if you’re not going to spend money on the game don’t play, because you’ll waste a lot of time

Fun to play, but watch out for the bullies in the server’s

This game can be a lot of fun especially when you get in with a good clan of active players. However the bigger players that can afford to buy the upgrades will gang up on you and relentlessly attack so you have no chance of building up your resources. Which really makes it less fun because you are stuck between a proverbial rock and a hard place. Unless you fork over the cash to buy an upgrade to get you out of that spot. The longer that I play this game, the more it feels like the developers let these guys do this so they can squeeze more cash out of desperate players. So unless you have money to burn and want to avoid drama, maybe go find another game. The only reason I keep playing is because I’ve sunk enough money into this account that I feel like it would be a shame to walk away from it.

Two years of strategy and $1k+ flushed by developers interference.

I played the long game for two years. I stayed in a non-PvP alliance, grounded my account to the bone, and spent over $1,000 to max out specifically to hold my own against the 7 alliance coalition that dog-piled me when I was a new player. I built the strongest troops for my level and finally maxed out my gear and champion configurations. Because I prefer tactical play, I’d hit their bases when their massive wave of players wasn't online. My goal was a war of attrition—making it too expensive for them to keep ganging up on me by forcing them to burn through heals. Then the developers completely undermined the game's mechanics: 1. Garrison Heals: They made it so no one has to heal garrisons anymore. This removed the only deterrent in the game and allowed a 7-alliance mob to dog-pile one person with zero financial consequence. 2. Targeted Nerfs: The moment I perfected a champion/gear combo that allowed me to actually defend against these endless waves, the devs nerfed it. 3. Moving Goalposts: There are weekly updates that trump any progress you make. Players who couldn't dent my army suddenly can take it out after 'patches' that seem to specifically benefit one side of the shard. If you plan on spending time or money to get ahead through strategy, don’t bother. The developers will just 'update' the rules to protect the majority when they start losing.

Baby roles

So it’s pretty great they work actively on its development and growth, speaking of which, I have a baby in my city that I assigned to the adventuring role however I have no way to change that role (it is still a baby) I think it would be good to add a way to change the role of a baby when you have assigned it to a role that already has all of its slots full.

From F2P to pay to win

When I first started playing this game, it had insane potential, like it was just us new players in one serve duking it out or growing and we had balanced gameplay. Obviously some of us spent money to get ahead but not to the point where it became unfair. However then we had a merge, which is like when one serve goes and combines with another. The server was like a week younger than us, so all was fair and it still came down to being a bit less balanced but manageable. However we just had a merge a week ago with a server that is about 45days older and let me tell you, that it’s no longer F2P when the other older players have so much time and payments invested onto the game. Balance went right out the window and you gotta pay over a grand to keep up with the bare minimum defense.

This was once the best of the best

When this game was in its infancy, it was remarkable, a true test of wits, clan cooperation and coordination, deep layers of gameplay, immensely enjoyable, evoking the greatest of emotions from players. Medieval greatness, pvp battles to gain valuable resources (wood, stone and silver!), plenty to do solo, daily challenges, upgrading and enhancing nobles, armies, keep, champions…brilliant. (Oh how we miss lancers and balistas) Then…Something happened after an update sometime ago; the game slowly removed the need to attack other players, monsters and fantasy moved in, daily challenges became a monotonous job, a bore. A once great medieval pvp game became a pve FarmVille wretch, where players attacking other players was only for spite, not for resources or gain. Maybe Scopely are gaining more money with this pve version, I don’t know, but as a game experience it’s such a shame it changed from what was once the best mobile game I think ever existed. We miss you original KM!

The game has issues with bugs, which has secondary monetary affects. Additionally, the UI gets bugged out requiring restart. There’s no transfer from iOS to PC unlike with google. Game has great concepts, but support is near non existent and not because they aren’t there. They respond, they just don’t care. Additionally, global chat is a cesspool pool of racism, and toxicity (like most of these games). Lastly, this is not a casual game, it’s a time sink, it can be fun, but the devs need to fix some issues. When they do, I’ll rate higher.

Great game but is a massive let down since a server merger, we have the 2 top alliances have teamed together and made it near impossible for anyone else to grow or gain anything from the game, as soon as you get something it’s taken away from us by the top 2. I was not like this pre merger, a lot of my team and player from other alliances have completely given up and are going to other games due to the unfair power monopoly that’s happened. Addicting game

Been playing this game for over a year now. Play it daily, love it and don’t think I will quit any time soon. If you get into this game, I highly you do not rush your keep levels. Take your time and enjoy each level. PvP can seem scary with the red flashing light and stuff, but in truth this game punishes players far less the other games like it when it comes to PvP. Troops don’t get killed, player get a penalty if attacking a player more then two keeps below them, if you get burned, you get a smoke shield where player get a major penalty if they attack you and get nothing for burning you in smoke. Game also seems very pay to win, but you don’t actually need to spend to be good at this game. It really about being strong for your keep level and saving for events more then anything else. Spending just helps you progress faster or helps you earn skins (which can be possible to earn for free most of the time) Game is also always evolving and growing. New content seems to come out monthly. Developers care a lot about their community and use discord to stay in touch with the players. Honestly this is best custom serves I have ever seen in a game like this. I highly respect Dave and his team. You haven’t questions, join the Kingdom Maker Official Discord and ask. I’m a bit obsessed with emojis because when I don’t know what to say I use an emoji. When I’m in my alliance chat, instead of putting 👌or 👍 I have to but ‘Okay.’ Or when I want to say thank you as an emoji because when I’m happy I have to put ‘ :)’ instead of 🙂or 😀. Meh.

I played this game in its infancy, and it was brilliant. Fun to play, easy to progress in. Now, it seems like a TOTAL money grab. I played in a server where somebody had become obsessed and splurged all of his savings on this. The fact the developers are now actively encouraging people to spend ridiculous amounts of their money on virtual progress is disgusting. It quite literally ruins lives. Furthermore, the people who play… I’m going to put it bluntly, are douchebags. If you want to play for yourself, it gets boring. It’s one of those things where you thrive from being in an alliance with other players. However, the people that do play are toxic, they have a mentality that they’re genuinely enemies with the other people in the server. It’s gross, but if you’re power hungry, narcissistic and think you’re some sort of medieval knight who’s just walked out of the movie ‘The Last Duel’, go ahead and play this game. You’ll likely get addicted and spend your savings on it until you’re broke.

Maybe the worst community i’ve ever seen

The way this works is you start in a server with a bunch of other low level kingdoms and work your way up, as the population of your server diminishes, you’ll merge with other servers. Makes sense, except people who have played the game for a long time will create alt accounts and just grow faster, with far more knowledge about what’s to come and how to play. If you’re trying to get into it, good luck. I’ve never met so many toxic people in one place before. Taking pride in making someone quit, saying racist, or sexist, or homophobic things just to get a rise out of people to make them quit. If you’re looking for a community of people who enjoy being offensive, and will outright reject anyone who thinks differently from them, this is the game for you. it’s just a circle jerk of rich mommy’s boys with the occasional rational person. They don’t care about the players but they do care about your money..The game had potential but lost it when they started adding new units (like titans just like every other medieval game like this with dragons as well)… I got to Keep level 33.. each offer in the store at that level is worth $50, $100 and even $200 and thats not even worth for the stuff that you get for that kind of money… at that point lets say that you have about 12 armies to fill up with 5-6 battalions slots each with 1,400-1,600 troops in each battalion (if you’re nobles are at a certain level and thats another way they manipulate you to purchase from the store and im just not gonna get into that point but I will make it short for ya… nobles is what you need in order to have good armies and thats another long grind you gotta focus on).. well the store offers about enough “royal honors” for about 1 battalion of troops.. Whats royal honors ? Well its the rewards from attacking armies on the map.. and thats about 7 royal honors for a lvl 32 army that you can attack… for a level 34 army it will give you 8 royal honors each time you attack.. well a full battalion takes about 12,000-15,000 royal honors.. Thats over atleast about 1,500 level 34 armies… If you have the time to do all that congrats to you.. I had the time when I was at like a lower level but as you progress and move to a higher level the prices will get higher and the time to grind for one certain section of the game will get even longer… there’s alot of things you gotta do to get to that point and it took me 2 years by using money thats not even worth it.. imagine playing for free.. itll take you about double the time or even more to get to that point.. and once you get to that point in the game.. the game isn’t fun anymore… All spenders end up in the same alliance or two or 3 and gang up on the free to play alliances and bully them off the game.. Its how all competitive mobile games like this one end up as. To be honest games like these don’t last long and end up shutting down because people start to realize how ridiculous the game and devs are. Mining… this is another major grinding part of the game… youll feel like you’ve been mining throughout the whole time you’ve been playing this game… gotta mine to get the resources you need to get your city leveled up… oh research I forgot too.. gotta mine certain materials to unlock certain things in the game to help you become stronger.. purchase and make armor in the armory as well… all those materials you gotta mine… yeah you gotta refine all those materials too and that takes about 8 hours or more I would say to refine the materials each time and it doesn’t give you that much after refining.. it may seem like a fast paced process as you start but as you progress im telling you it will take you awhileeee to get to where I was without spending or even spending.. All those things I mentioned about the game are only a few things that you gotta grind for to waste your time or if ya want you can purchase each of those offers in the store to help you skip that process… but at that point if you purchase and skip the process then you won’t know how to properly play the game.. people will know you’ve purchased and that you are a weak whale. Another thing about this game is they care more about spenders than free to play players.. if you’re free to play your basically wasting your time.. if you’re a spender you’re basically wasting both your time and money… either way you choose you’re basically a slave to the game because im telling you now.. if you have the time and money for this game go ahead but im giving you a fair warning and review about this. Reason I gave 5 stars was how ridiculous this game is and how pathetic the devs/support are. Again this is coming from someone who has played this game for about 2 years now and has put money in this game.. Im moving on and don’t have the time or patience to play this game that I would call a scam and a waste of time / money. People that are still on the game honestly are just there for the people and communicating and getting to know new people.. not the game because they know how much of a scam it is. Yall can do that in person and do that out in reality rather than in a scam type game.. so don’t waste your time and money on this. I’ve met alot of new people and still talk to them today and plan on keeping in touch with them in the future as well but the game.. yeah its not worth it. Goodluck to those who choose to waste their time and money on this. Hope you don’t end up doing what I did.. atleast I learned from this and moving on.. The game lost its sparkk and is no longer fun.. just a scam.. the return on your effort if you do play this is just isn’t there anymore.. If you read all of this I appreciate you for taking your time.. just gave you a fair warning… You’ll understand and you’ll appreciate me taking my time to post a review over this game. Just don’t want others to end up how I ended up. Sincerely, Sparkk of Treetop

Have to spend money to compete!

Pay to play. If you don’t spend money the players that do bully the lower level players and management does nothing about it because they’re only about the money, not actual player experience. Really disappointing!

Could be great but needs work.

It’s a fun game that I’ve enjoyed. The battle controls are really good as the attacker but the defender has to rely on AI. It’s heavily pay to win. The fights work on a morale based system where if you attack someone smaller than you your morale decreases for 24hrs but you get a morale boost for buying packs. If you have the money you can negate this feature. You can also buy troops which is annoying when a lower lvl player can buy gold troops and attack one of your teammates but if you try to help you get a morale penalty even though your using the same troops. The devs don’t care about player welfare at all. My friend had someone set up an alt account with a similar name and badge then start talking smack about them in global. Despite multiple complaints from players and screenshots the devs refused to do anything with the account. All in all it has potential but the people in charge are greedy and lazy.

No search bar for friends

This game was good at first however I wanted to play with my friend and the game didn’t allow me to find my friend. Everything we tried doesn’t work and there isn’t even a search bar to use in order to find people you want to play with or you want to be friends with. I recommend that the game maker if this game updates the game by adding a search bar to search for friends as it will make this game much more enjoyable for me and for others.

Heavily addictive gameplay and amazingly fast and attentive customer support.

ROK

This game functions almost identically to rise of kingdoms. In order to deactivate my account I have to go to a separate website, put in a bunch of info, and wait about 30 days for it to “process”. I expected there to be a “kingdom building” aspect to a game titled kingdom builder, but the game is literally just rise of kingdoms. Also any apple users check the privacy tab on the App Store. I didn’t look at it beforehand but the app needs my purchase info, ID, and my literal location to run. This ROK knockoff cash grab is 100% selling my data to third parties.

Kingdom Maker is now not playable for F2P

Okay so where to begin, this game was enjoyable and now it’s become almost unplayable for F2P. It’s clear that the guys running this are only interested in cashing out and leaving the game in ruin. This game is heavy pay to win with extortionate prices, you’ll have to sell your car if you want a few expensive packs to make a tiny bit of progress lol. If the developers start listening to the customers/players this game could be a gem, but it seems they don’t care about what you think and because of this a lot of servers are dying out with no new players staying to play. Please sort it out because you won’t have a game left guys.

Good fun….until….

I was enjoying this, nice game with plenty to do and keep me amused. Then, sadly, I reached a level where I could be attacked by the more experienced players…one did…took my nobles into prison and that was that….I was not strong enough to take them back and he happened to be in the strongest alliance so not much I could do there. Such a shame….I don’t mind a bit of ‘balance’ but the opportunities for the more experienced to ‘bully’ and effectively end the game of up and coming players is not quite right…yet.
