Only one hour
After only one hour I am glued to this guide. Thank you so much!
Lazy marketing
Why show an ad for art work that sends you to a link to the generic page of the museum? Seems almost click bait
Great app
Great app. Some minor bugs such as the close button hovering over the time on the iPhone
Political
Too much political commentary when discussing art.
Deceiving
Shows Kennedy Space Center in the ad, doesn’t actually include Kennedy space center, barely has anything in the major cities.
Monet & friends in Venice
Amazing beautiful joyful awesome
Stop
Please stop interrupting my museum experience; it’s a piteous distraction from the artistic experience, like brutally awakening someone from a delightful dream. Please stop.
Cathedral

Frequently needs to reload if you toggle to a different app
If you need to toggle to a different app like messages or weather and come back, this app frequently requires you to reload the entire app — like it doesn’t remember what museum you’re in or where you were in the guide. It’s so bad that I frequently use the museum’s own website with the same content (searching by painting number) so I can avoid using this app. It’s frustrating because this app is now ubiquitous at museums and I know Bloomberg is doing this philanthropically for the right reasons.
Some lookups hang
According to Speedtest I have great speed but the lookup page and the actual lookup hangs. Unclear what the problem is.
FCP
A beautifully presented exhibition of Mozart’s genius.
Exclusion
Amazing this app doesn’t have the California African American Museum. It’s expected.
Great museum
Not enough narrative
Needs to run on iPad as well as iPhone.
Why isn’t there an iPad version of this app? Much of the content is visual and would display so much better on the larger screen
Ok content, but reloads often
When switching to the camera and back to the app (which is something you do often in a museum) the app resets and all context is lost. You have to chose the museum again and then there is a loading screen. All this repeated loading leads to battery drain
Thank you, Mr Bloomberg
Excellent use of your fortune.
Poorly designed app. Tried using Metropolitan Museum of Art and there is no search feature
There is no information on Metropolitan museum of art section for the Costume Institute or its exhibitions
Great - but the odd problem with lighting
Some (very few) paintings are partly invisible because of reflected light at their top third. A slight adjustment could fix this
App and photos
It’s great having an app to provide commentary to lots of great museums/exhibitions. The problem is once you leave the app (ie to take a photo) then you need to restart the app from the homepage. It would be so much better if it can remember your last location in the tour so you can flip between apps.
Nice idea but lacking finishing touches
Using this app for the Storm King Art Center guide, it’s a nice start, but lacks details, such as the tram stops and schedule, and external links don’t open. Pretty limited and its functionality. Can’t navigate you between points.
Awesome! Use it in your own Backyard!
I use this app all over the world, but never thought to use it locally until recently. You can always find something fascinating to do and learn.
Very slow and non-responsive
Please, we don’t need fancy but useless eye-candies. We only want the content to be shown in a reasonable amount of time. The app literally freezes every time after checking an object. Completely ruining the experience of learning in these marvelous museums. If I can I want to give multiple lowest score reviews to this app. Now I can only avoid the museums that rely on this lab and only come back later to see whether there are some fixes.
Very useful, but restarts every time the screen closes
Frustrating that every time the screen is closed, the app completely closes too. Getting the detail of a painting then requires multiple steps starting from choosing the museum.
should be a website
i don’t get the point of having to download an app to see information about arts and culture. so that they can track you? NYPL kept pushing me to get the app to see the “full exhibition “ of their Treasures. it has two videos of 2 minutes and 4 minutes. that’s all.
save guides??
how about a way to personalize the app so we can save our favorite guides??? or put a star beside them so we can return to them easily?? thanks!
Love this
Having the audio tours for museums at my finger tips makes the museum experience even more rich.
This is so dumb
You know what would be great? Instead of writing the artist name and piece next to the artwork we put a QR codes on the walls next to the pieces, you download an app, choose your museum, then search for the artist and exhibition, then guess at which piece you are looking at. Also great would be if everyone is looking at their phones instead of the art. Super idea!
Poorly designed app that is annoying to use in a museum
The use case of his app is very frequently pulling your phone from your pocket/purse and quickly accessing information. QUICKLY is the important word, but it fails at that. First, every time I open the app, it freezes for 5-10 seconds. Why? Who knows. Also the back button fails to work much of the time. Let's say that I'm in a gallery, and the numbers of each artwork increases sequentially. Not all galleries do this, but probably common enough. So if I'm at artwork #405 and need to get to #406 which is right next to it, there should obviously be a button to do that, right? Nope. I have back out, and input 406. FOR EVERY SINGLE ARTWORK. so frustrating.
Good app, could be better
I loved using the app to learn more about Central Park. But I could only access the audio clips as I came across signs in the park telling me the location number. I wish the app had a map showing all the location numbers.
Amy Sherald
Reviews are great! Help me to understand Sherald’s work.
Don’t Get It!
This is a bumbling, frustrating App that will kill all of your museum Zen. Use the museum’s audio tour if available but skip this aggravation
Great idea, poor execution
Excellent idea to allow downloadable guide content for visiting museum, and rich with text and videos. However, you DO have to have internet (wifi or cellular) to find and open the content for the museum you are visiting. Why? Also, very annoyingly, each time the app gets switched out of memory (because you've launched other apps, etc.) you have to get online again to search for your museum and relaunch the content. Incredible that the app doesn't remember what musuem you were at literally 5 minutes previous.
Dolly and Giacometti
Very good explanations. I’m surprised that more people aren’t using it.
Not great
App works awfully with frequent crashes and some parts of interface not loading correctly. Audio is also trash with built-in player not responding half a time.
YSP - Promised a lot, delivered very little.
I love Yorkshire Sculpture Park. I hoped this app would provide an interactive map which nearly happened, but it was unstable, at times would only open a single random information screen for all icons selected, kept crashing out, eventually lost the map altogether. Information was good where/if accessed, but didn’t add too much to where there were already info boards. Best to use and recycle the paper maps available outside the shop.
The best cultural app there is
And it’s everywhere you go!!
Downloaded for Burrell collection in Glasgow
App ok for giving you an online map of layout but other than that useless. I really wanted to use the lookup facility to find out about each exhibit, only to discover there are no labels in the exhibition to use with the app. Asked a member of staff who said don’t use it- it won’t work. This despite the fact I downloaded from a QR code on a leaflet in the cafe area of the collection. Shame as in principle it would be really helpful
Needs a lot of work
Like other reviews on here, I downloaded this to navigate our way around Yorkshire Sculpture Park. But every time I left the app (for example, to photograph a sculpture), I was returned to the main screen. I then had to navigate back to the guide each time. For what it’s worth, when I was using the guide, it was really useful and full of interesting information about the art. However, I suspect this has nothing to do with the app developers, and more to do with the efforts of the sculpture park. So, this needs work. If I didn’t have to continuously work my way back to where I wanted to be it would get a better review. But in truth, I stopped using it after an hour and didn’t bother with it again.
tease
The intro is a teaser creating in me the desire to get there right away to take in the touch and physical orientation of the Huntington experience
Needs work
I found the app to be unusable. The interface is very confusing. I wanted to use it at the Wallace Collection but it didn’t show up on the first screen. I then found as part of a series (Art something?) but couldn’t see anything there except some general venue info.
Does not work
Downloaded this app to plan a trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The park is quite a large outdoor park and I wanted to look at the maps to plan which artworks to see. The only part of the app that worked was the part that allowed us to book tickets. None of the maps worked and the guide wouldn’t download. Bit pointless really
