App is Not WORKING
The App Won’t Load Just Keeps Goes in Circles Loading⭕️
This is not following my location?????
I live in two parts of the country. I am now in Rochester NY, under high heat and humidity, an an air warning. Mold is toxic to me and I have no idea what it is here. Please advise.
Good allergy data is impossible
Pollen wise is the best I’ve found. The other apps are terrible, or at least their data sources are. Before this app I kept a bookmark to the aaaai on my phone and manually checking sites to find one near me with recent data! Because the other apps and websites are probably using statistical modeling or other inaccurate systems to report. Pollensense, having their own realtime sensor network and an easy to consume app makes this a lot easier. But even here there are some difficulties. It’s not really clear where the stations are. They could be 50 miles away “in your metro area” but that might not be helpful if you are upwind of the station. They also seemed to have removed information about actual detected allergens from the app - unless it’s a bug - and that makes it pretty useless. Finally, I’d pay for access to the realtime dataset, but paying a subscription fee for an app used so infrequently is just blah. A website, daily - detailed- email, or api access to integrate into my own dashboards is worth the price.
New format
DON’T LIKE THE NEW FORMAT!
Expensive
Assuming that the data is reliable, this is really the only app I found that gives you measured data rather than estimates and algorithm forecast. The UX is a little wonky, but I can overlook that as annoying as it is. My main problem is $50 a year for the pro level, which is what it takes for the widget to work. It’s hard to justify paying that much unless my health absolutely depended on getting an accurate reading, which it doesn’t. Widget accuracy is a convenience to me, not a necessity, and I’m probably not alone in that regard.
Great improvement to show High pollen time for each day
Really help me plan better. Version 5.5 brought back specific information and made it better than Version 4 by showing the High grass pollen time.
App is broken for a week
Does not render any data for the last week or so, just keeps refreshing the UI.
Great allergy app!!
This is by far the best app for tracking allergies. It includes dust and mold, as well as the seasonal vegetation based pollens. I have a wish list item: I’d like to see a graph section added that shows all categories overlapped together. Like blue line for weeds, red for trees, etc. Reason being that I would like to see if there is a tipping point for symptoms to kick in or get worse. I know I am sensitive to mold at some medium to high, and higher, levels. But there are also times when I have symptoms but can’t tell what the cause is, and I wonder if it’s because of a combination. I’ve swiped back and forth between categories to try to see a relationship, but a combined graph would, or might, make it much easier and plainer. Just a suggestion. Thanks for your excellent information.
Used to be pretty good, but…
Ruined with the new version. They got greedy, put everything useful behind a paid tier, and made it impossible to know up front what you have to pay for access. PMs and marketers really did a number on this one. I would have gladly chipped in before all the bad vibes.
Mold Counts
I really wish that this app had mold counts. I am most allergic to mold and this app is of limited use to me without tha mold counts.
Still the best pollen data available
Version 5 has had some major hiccups, with some users unable to view data. The current update seems to fix the issue for almost all users, and the developer is responsive and can assist with some workarounds if you still encounter the issue. Once resolved, everything is business as usual: PollenWise is still the best pollen information available, with counts from automated sensing stations updated multiple times a day. If you have allergies and know what you’re sensitive to, the app presents clear and useful data to plan your activities to minimize your exposure to allergens.
Less than Worthless
I have low requirements - I just want to see the pollen counts for today and a few days before. Despite the pictures in the app description, none of the information is present. All I can access is a useless “allergy journal” that allows me to enter if I had runny eyes today. For health reasons, I need pollen counts to gauge the safety of outdoor activities. This information used to be available on websites. Now, they want to just send people to a worthless app that risks the health of people when we cannot access data that is supposed to be publicly accessible.
Sensor Always Far
I don’t really understand the long post from the devs on sensor distance, anywhere I go the distance is “very far.” If I’m in SoCal near LA… it’s very far. If I’m in Sonoma County (which is like a mold hot spot) still very far. Now in Sedona… very far. I just don’t know how to trust the accuracy at all and wish there was a more reliable app to track mold
Frustrated
Since “upgrading “ I now have to login every time I want an accurate measurement for the current time.
Pay Wall
It was a pretty great app until they put everything behind a paywall. $4.99 is too much for an app like this. It’s just not worth it.
Dust Allergy
I really like this app and recommend it to others! For me, it's all about the "Dust" levels, as this app is the best app when it comes to information about the Dust levels in other air! This app covers more allergy alerts in several areas, such as Gras, Trees, Mold,-- which is why I recommend it to others. The other feature I love, is when I travel, it allows you to enter the city you are traveling to check on what the air quality and allergies are for that city. This is my go to app every morning!
Great when it works
Very sketchy performance. I have paid for the expanded features but I frequently have to go back into the app and “restore” my status as a paid account. The widget, which I rely on, hardly ever works anymore.
Not so great
If there is a sensor that is nearby this app was great. However the sensor near me is gone and now the closest sensor is not close. This app is no longer useful to me
Previously was excellent.
I’m not an expert, but the breadth and depth of data captured by PollenWise is second to none. The equivalent here in Australia is Stone Age in comparison. AFAIK, all other American alternatives are too narrow in focus, or give historical data a day too late. I couldn’t make use of PollenWise directly, but have been able to recommend it to dozens of people in America. However things have broken in the last two updates. I can’t see any data at all now. Any location tried instantly returns a big red error message “unable to load data, please wait a few minutes and try again.” Nothing I try makes any difference. I’m guessing there’s an either a major bug, or I’m now geo-blocked because I’m not located in America/the covered areas. If it’s the latter, and it’s an intentional design feature, it makes it much less useful for international travellers, if they can’t get the allergen levels in advance. I hope this is rectified soon.
Only Hourly Source
I learned Pollen Wise is the ONLY actual source of hourly forecasting since they have a real sensor network. It’s cloud-based so all the sensors are connected for the company to send our data for app users. No other app or report gives as much detail to manage my day as an allergy sufferer. It’s really cool what they can do! The best app! Thank you
Paywalled
Can’t access anything beyond what other weather apps provide unless you pay. But my biggest gripe is that you can’t even answer the question whether you have a sensor close by for free. Why would I pay for something before knowing if there is a Pollen Wise sensor in my area first? If I pay for the app and find my closest sensor is 50+ miles away, you will have just stole my money, so I won’t be doing that.
Used to be great
I’m actually a little sad to delete this app. It was amazing when it was first launched. But there hasn’t been a pollen sensor in my state for I can’t remember how long. A year? More than that? That’s especially frustrating, since this company is based in Utah, and I live in Utah. They can’t seem to get/maintain a sensor in the state they’re based in. Maybe the company is going under. I guess Allergy Plus will have to do. I don’t know how often they update their data. But even once a day is vastly better than getting up-to-the-minute information about Nevada.
Reports drop to zero for half a day at a time
As one of the very few data sources for pollen counts, we had high hopes of using the app to correlate with our symptoms and help us narrow down the source of our allergies. But the data has been dropping to zero for almost a day at a time, leaving us in the blind. There’s no warning or explanation in the app. During a period of very high pollen counts, an app that charges us to deliver that data can’t just come and go like this.
Amazing
Very awesome app. Gives hourly detailed updates for pollen levels along with graphs. Also has articles on how to manage allergies and when best to go outside etc. Really helpful app.
👎🏼
Was my favorite seasonal app but they took the hourly away for free users and ultimately made the app useless.
Always too far!
I live in an urban area yet the monitoring station is always “Far”. Perhaps the data will get better?
Lack of basic options without an account
Needing an online account for basically every options available on the app is a big thumbs down. Why do you force us to login in order to edit notifications, or to record our symptoms? I thought I’d really appreciate this app but for someone that do not want to login, it’s really restrictive.
Finally!!!!
So awesome to have nearly real time, local data available for a seasonal allergy sufferer like me. I correlate my symptoms with the data from the app, and can manage my allergies way better now!
Got worse over the years
Was great a few years ago. The imaging of particles at each sensor was pretty cool, not sure where that went with the recent update. Also the new update seems inaccurate. Levels often read as low when other apps show moderate dust or mold. Deleted
Dependent on their sensors
The allergy levels are dependent on an allergist or hospital buying and installing one of their sensors. The nearest sensor to me is “very far” in Austin while I live near Houston. The weather and allergens is very different in these cities. If they had a sensor close to me, it would be my main tracker.
Reliable accurate information
Key part is how far away your this app is from the actual testing center. In my case I’m only about a half a mile away so the information is very accurate for my particular area.
No longer user friendly.
Once a favorite but now I hate it. Not user friendly and confusing. Im deleting
This app talks a big game
…but doesn’t really deliver. The pollen counts are erratic and don’t correspond to my symptoms, the symptoms of my friends, or to what other pollen trackers say. The app claims the sensor is “very close” but refuses to disclose what that means. My guess: on the same or neighboring continent. But it gives a dust reading, which none of the others do, and that’s valuable.
So happy to have my local monitor at close status!
I am severely reactive to environmental allergens and suffer asthma attacks even after brief periods of being outside. PollenWise is the only app that lets me plan outside excursions with confidence.
Unusable now
All the features that made this app great are now behind a paywall. Not worth using anymore.
Real air quality information
It is so great to get a timely, complete and accurate assessment of air quality conditions. Better yet, specific to your part of town. A must have app for anyone with allergies or a compromised respiratory system.
Broken
$70 subscription for an app that doesn’t work. Broken features behind pay wall. Refund requested.
