Cost of app

Why is the cost hidden? The free trail of 7 days is not long enough to even get the hang of the app. Then the cost of $88/year, I just can’t. You can break it down to a couple of dollars a week, still the same at the end of the year. I’m retired due to disabilities including diabetes. I just can’t let myself get started in costly apps, even $88 helps with medical costs.

Potential

I like where there is app is headed, it has the potential to be 5 stars but unfortunately being an Australian based user the food database is limited for anyone outside the US. For the reviewers complaining about the 7 day free trial and then automatic subscription they have failed to understand that if you subscribe to a 7 day free trial then go in and unsubscribe from app directly after you subscribed you still get to use the app for free for the 7 days without the fear of forgetting to unsubscribe before free trial ends. It’s not rocket science people!

Discover spike triggers

I was type 2 for decades, past tense. Using this app I was able to identify the food additives that were contributing to my insulin resistance. I avoid those inorganic additives and now I have a normal A1C and enjoy all the delicious carbs I had to avoid for decades; potatoes, pasta, rice. Oh my! And I have the evidence to prove it. Thank you snaq!

Unreliable - Underdeveloped

We are a newly diagnosed T1D family. I was excited to scan food and find trends and tips. With my first AI scan, it estimated 20 carbs for 3 grilled tenders and 20 carbs for a regular side of fries. This is gross incompetence… to the point where I feel like they shouldn’t offer this feature until it is more accurate. With that said, I thought I’d try to just type in foods. When I type “slim chickens fries,” it takes a minute to think and then a regular side of fries was way down at the bottom of what the search generated. Why would fried tenders be before fries when fries was clearly in the search field? I’m gonna try again today, but this is not quick or easy. It also took so many clicks to get anywhere in the app.

Drastically improved my A1c

I used this app for 6 months last year and it helped to take my A1c from 7.6 to 5.3. I learned a lot about food and how each meal item affects my bs. I made tweaks and changes along the way to fine tune my glucose control. I took a break over the past three months to put into practice what I learned and was able to maintain my A1c at 5.6. I am back to using the app again to assist with weight loss and blood pressure goals I have set for myself. In doing so there are a couple things I do wish could be added and improved upon within the app. #1. I would like to see fiber per day/meal, maybe within the ‘Insight’ tab. Best I can get in the Insight tab is 1 week average. #2. Improve the photo estimates option beyond 3 items. My meal last night had 5 items (smoked brisket & turkey, collard greens, green beans & 1/2 Texas toast). It populates 3 items then gives suggestions on the remaining items to add. BUT when you add a suggested item it will delete a one of the three populated ones. Why not just be able to add the suggested item to the populated ones? I find this to be frustrating and don’t typically use this feature because of this. Beyond these two items the app is easy to use and I recommend it to others all the time in my online diabetes groups.

This app is VERY helpful!

The SNAQ app is very helpful in the fact that it connects to my LIBRE 3+, and helps me keep track of my carbs and how they affect my glucose during the day. The one drawback is the food database isn’t nearly as big as it could be. Sometimes I have to go into Myfitnesspal and find my meal and then go back and find something comparable in the SNAQ app. Hopefully they will expand that as the app gets more traction. Thank you for this tool!

Nutritional values are not correct

I don’t feel I can trust this app to accurately count carbs. Most of the time I can’t find the food I’m looking for and when I do the carbs are often way off. I was really hoping this was going to be good since I thought I could match up my meals with the behaviour of my blood sugar to look for trends. But it’s not worth it if the nutrition information of common foods is unreliable or missing completely. I’d rather use this than Lose it but so far I’ve had to keep going back to that to find the carbohydrate information I need.

This is a good visual app, however this is a US product so many foods in UK are not recognised … also in UK you cannot enter your insulin dosage so I feel the UK members should receive a cheaper charge as not all aspects are available for us hence only three stars .. if we had a UK data version this would be grand.

Fabulous post-meal glucose reports!

Snaq has THE best post-meal glucose reporting I've seen. I love it!!!! It tells you all you want to know: for the three hours following a meal you’ve entered, how much of that time you remained in your target range (which is customizable in the Units section of Settings), what your glucose peak was, how long it took to reach the peak, and your total glucose rise over what it was before the meal. You can also see how many carbs, fats, proteins, and calories each meal contains as well as your day’s total for each macro. The pdf data exports are beautiful and super easy to read and share with a nutritionist. I also love the running glucose graph which is easy to scroll through. Also love that it displays your activity level with little bars at the bottom of the graph (health data like steps is imported from Apple Health). So much to love about this App! I highly recommend it.

I’ve had Type 1 diabetes for 21 years, and this is honestly the app I’ve been waiting for. It doesn’t just tell you the carbs—it teaches you how to eat your meal in a smarter order, suggests ways to reduce glucose spikes, and even explains why. Not Consistent

I am absolutely disappointed in this app. This app continuously doesn’t save entries I put in. It’s almost on the daily that I enter a dosage & when I go back to check what time it was at the entire entry is gone. I’ve already left this as a review & they emailed me telling me to track when it doesn’t do it. I don’t have time to do that. The whole point of paying for this app is so it tracks so I don’t have to track. Not only is this a huge disappointment & inconvenience, but it’s ridiculous. I am making health decisions based on what I track here & now I have no idea what time or what amount my dosage was because it doesn’t save my entry. Why is it that an app like Snapchat, I could take a Snapchat & not have reception for 3 days and it still saves my Snapchat, but here is I don’t have service it won’t even let me make an entry & if I do have service it doesn’t even save it at least once a day. How does this not have an auto save feature no matter what, where it can upload later if for whatever reason it fails to upload the first time. This is a safety concern. Not to mention, the whole reason I even initially signed up was because it advertised that it will track patterns & give me advice, it hasn’t done that once, there’s been no patterns tracked or advice given to better manage my diabetes. To charge that much for an app & have it work this poorly is crazy work.
