Highest quality video player on IOS… if you pay
this is basically just reskinned mpv for ios, and that makes it the best player by default. the problem is that if you use it for free it forces low quality scaling that makes everything blurry would be nice to get more customization similar to the options available in mpv
Zoom function doesn’t work
And the auto rotation doesn’t work… off or on it just stays horizontal Beyond the fact I can’t zoom it’s a pretty good app.. I get that figured out I’ll change to 5
Promising App That Can Be Even Better
Outplayer is a really good app with a lot of potential. The UI is clean, and the overall experience is enjoyable. With a few key improvements, it could easily become one of the best video players. The two features I feel are most important are: 1. More playback speed options – Please add finer controls like 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.3x, etc., instead of only the standard speed presets. This would make watching videos much more comfortable. 2. Manual aspect ratio controls – It would be great to have the ability to manually force different aspect ratios (such as Fit, Fill, Stretch, 16:9, 4:3, or Original). This would help when videos don’t display correctly. Overall, it’s an excellent app that just needs these features to make it even better. Keep up the great work!
Exceptional Value
Great value for the paid version. Can play any format that I can toss at it. Quality is noticeably better than other players, especially for HDR.
There are better options.
Just wanted a free video app, don't want to see features I can click then be informed come on pay up. I wish there was a way to just hide anything in these apps that was paid junk. Moved to infuse app, if that fails I'll use Vic.
Almost perfect
I use Outplayer daily as my default for watching videos. It’s one of the few apps I’ve purchased the full version of and it’s easily worth the price. It collects NO USER DATA; try finding another app that doesn’t. Its only major deficiency is its inability to cast videos. With that fixed, a few minor nitpick-y enhancements would make it perfect—eg the ability to change the library folder location, view the library while watching a video in PIP, or rename multiple videos at once. I hope the creator’s still making substantive updates because it’s so close to being the best player available. Well done—

App is great except that it’s missing/has removed casting features which greatly limits the purpose of it

AWESOME VIDEO PLAYER
Thank you SOOOOOOOO MUCH…for adding back the volume boost feature. Unless there was a bug in my installation, I couldn’t get the volume boost feature that I loved so much when I downloaded this app years ago. I was really hoping to have it back. Looks like it was bright back in a previous update, but I never noticed it. Makes such a big difference when in on a noisy train watching a movie with my Bluetooth headphones. 10 STARS!!!

Full Version Is…
Inexpensive app for some features I haven’t seen elsewhere. HDR all the time/enhanced video quality/frame grabs and vid grabs. No what I don’t like no auto next file, no searching sub folders, no WebDAV no remote from other device.. It plays well thats about it.
Paywall for changing playback speed
I deleted the app as soon as I saw that a basic features such as changing the playback speed is behind a $10 paywall
Eh, somewhat.
It is better than VLC in usability and has a speedy response to playback of my files via SMB share. However, there are issues in playback at times, in which I have to deal with a gray overlay that varies in shades, which saturates the colors and ruins my experience. I would also like for buffering options to exist as I have larger files that I can't playback without dealing with jitter.
Better alternative to the ‘bigger’ media players on the App Store
Best minimal and clean media player app that I have tried out of all the big hitters on the App Store. Bought the pro version without a second thought to support the dev. Only thing it’s missing is maybe toggles for mono audio or downsampling, incremental speed adjustments instead of fixed and maybe showing chapters in the seekbar which could all be addressed in future updates. Also maybe ytdlp support for webstreaming… Please keep this app minimal and free of unnecessary bloat like the others!
Outplayer advanced is a scam. Requesting refund
I just bought the advanced version for improved scaling and color option with support of Spatial Audio. After the purchase I played Dolby vision and atmos content. Neither the scaling and color toggle does anything nor the Spatial Audio. Infact the Spatial Audio toggle downgrades any directional audio. Please refund me my money.
almost perfect
works amazing, just a "skip to next chapter" button would be nice. also switching audio tracks was a bit sluggish and sometimes didnt work, and trying to stream over wifi networks to another machine works, but makes you unable to pause or rewind without restarting the entire video.
Good not great
Stable player that can handle many file formats. However it lacks some simple functionality such as ability to automatically play the next video or sort by file size.
Form over function
I really appreciate the Liquid Glass design. It almost feels like an official Apple media player, and the overall ease of use and HDR support are excellent. However, as a video player, it feels far too basic. The lack of pinch-to-zoom is difficult to justify, and the absence of proper multi-channel audio output for 5.1 or similar sound files is a major limitation. From what I can see, upgrading to the Pro subscription doesn’t meaningfully address these shortcomings. It’s unfortunate, because the UI is genuinely close to perfect. If these core playback features were implemented, I’d have no hesitation in paying for the Pro version.

Wastes 1/2 GB Data & Documents
It’s a 35.5 MB app. Why is it wasting HALF A GIGABYTE of memory with Data/Documents when deleted and reloaded fresh? It’s a slush fund for wasted memory and Lego developers. I really don’t buy Apple anymore. And especially no iOS apps anymore with the garbage quality, Apple’s complicity and the simple mindedness and the subscription’ scourge. If you’re over 40 you walk away from Apple, as they have us first.

UI is painful on fingers for long use, VLC player is much nicer. I have emailed the owner and received no reply. The file loop feature turns on randomly. Unbelievably annoying to dig into the menu to turn it off. Does not adhere to the standard iPhone ui controls, one should be able to tap the right side to go to best video, swipe top to bottom to exit the player. The only reason I use the app is due to MPV👌 however I now want my money back. That is an official request.

Good app but the video blinks in between playback , like there’s little cut while watching video . Plus color control like brightness and contrast control should be added by developer.
Outstanding
This the file player I’ve been waiting for. Great library configuration. Excellent file folder views. Unlimited folders. Speeds are carried from current video to subsequent videos. Plus a lot more.

Best App for near seamless video playback
The app is fantastic. I’ve got over a hundred videos and playback never fails me. I do experience the somewhat common issue of a buggy progress bar after doing PiP, but it’s a minor inconvenience. Even more inconvenient is the lack of a shuffle feature. It’s irritating at times, because I’m forced to watch my vids in the same order that my brain has memorized after so many watches. Messing around with upload date and name isn’t enough. This is the best app for me, and if shuffle is implemented it’ll become the absolute perfect app for me. I don’t know much about the making of an app, but shuffle seems quite common so I hope this isn’t a large ask. Thank you for this app, I’d have been stuck on mediocrity otherwise.

Good video player but one huge issue in the Advanced version
I bought the advanced version of the app to take screenshots from videos but the app doesn’t take screenshots in HDR colors even though it can play videos in HDR. The colors in the screenshots are washed out and have very low contrast and saturation. I hope the developers will fix it but I’m probably going to request a refund due to this issue.

Great app but has one problem
I have both a 13 pro max and ipad m1 pro When i use the 13 pro max the hdr work on it But in the ipad the hdr doesn’t work and the video become dark ( the video is dark even when i am putting my brightness to the highest) I think thats a problem in ipad os ( could you please fix it )
Missing basic functionalities
It’s not having an option to create a playlist or select the specific files to play. That’s the only purpose I downloaded it.
Problem with eastern asian language subtitles
When external subtitles in eastern asian languages are being loaded, video playback becomes into frame by frame since last update.

Makes my iPhone incredibly laggy
Don’t usually review but using Picture in Picture mode this thing make my iPhone 13 Pro unusable and slows the entire device, as soon as I uninstalled it. Zero lag…
Good player supported by Stremio, but no premium HDR formats
Premium HDR (or audio, not sure if thats supported) formats would be nice, and I think anybody who desires them would be perfectly happy to pay for them, just like how Infuse is paid. I know Dolby Vision probably would be difficult to implement, maybe same with HDR10+, but it would be a great addition, free or not.

I’ve been having problems with this sooo much. It buffers like crazy even though my internet/wifi connection is good, also i’m not able to fast foward?? Every time i try to it goes back. This is trash don’t get this app if you see this!

This app is great. Love that it’s based on mpv. If we can get custom aspect ratios (like being able to stretch-to-fill), it’d be a 5/5!

Love the player but…
It has started stuttering mkv videos recently. It never used to happen. I hope the dev fixes it. I will happily pay one time fee for this app.
Great app. Just wish it had shuffle for playlists.
The app is wonderful. Honestly shuffle is the only thing the app needs to reach perfection. Here’s hoping the developer is able to do that. I’ll be upgrading to pro if it is added.
HDR playback issue
There's significant color issues with HDR especially in bright scenes. I compared the same videos on my PC with a non HDR monitor and Plex app on my iPad. Plex on iPad and my Monitor displayed accurate images but Outplayer does not.
