Useless
Couldn’t even login, the button is non-functional. Not much good if I can’t log in.
Almost Perfect
Subtitles sometimes won’t turn off, and its positioning gets screwy when zooming media, otherwise, great app. Browsing is better than other competitors. Would be nice if there was a video filter to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, gamma, and hue, like you can in the VLC app. That’d make this app truly perfect
Downloads need work
I appreciate this app as an alternative to the barely-there download feature in the official Jellyfin app. I only used Streamyfin for downloading, and there are several serious bugs there. I’m sure they will be fixed soon, but just reviewing them here since they eventually completely blocked me from using the app when I was on the go. The download process itself is smooth and allows you to set your own bitrate which is great. Subtitles are only baked in, there’s no option for using a separate subtitle track - maybe an iOS player limitation? The problems begin when playing back content. If you exit a video partway through and then try to seek to the same spot again, the app gets stuck and hangs for minutes or forever. Clicking through the download menus takes very long to load the next page. And if you download too many videos, you are completely blocked from playing one because the app becomes unable to handle playing any of the downloaded videos. Thanks to the developers for providing this app, I hope to revisit it someday when the download feature is more stable.

5 out of 5 stars
Great UI, but one terrible flaw on tvOS
While I love the player when it works for jellyfin, the app constantly signs you out of your jellyfin server randomly after a while. Tried clearing caches and reinstalling but same behaviour- makes it unusable unfortunately and made me move to plezy instead.
Works great
It works great with jellyfin/jellyseerr combo. Only problem I have is a minor bug in the notif badges. Stuck with 1 all the time. Checked all through the app and can’t find any reason for it so I’ve disabled all notifs so I won’t have to look at it anymore. Ruins the look of the sleek icon design. Otherwise, a great app indeed!
Love app, but new issue
Unable to play videos on iphone 13 pro latest version . Works on Android and native Jellyfin client but not streamify for iphone. Happened yesterday out of the blue, was working then wasn't. Rebooted phone, even hard reboot. Reinstalled app and still. must be a new update. Using Android since working flawlessly.
Great features but there are some serious bugs
I love the chromecast support and the download functionality but the player ui always disappears after using picture in picture, requiring you to close the app, and sometimes the app doesn’t launch, just shows a splash screen with the logo
Best Jellyfin client app
I’m very impressed with this app. Even in its development phase, it looks highly professional, feels premium, and is already super stable with very few quirks. The fact that it’s open-source is a massive plus, and I am incredibly excited about the roadmap, especially upcoming support for Apple TV and other platforms. Huge props to the developers, keep up the amazing work!
Settings and downloads don’t work
Tapping settings, downloads, and the other buttons at the top don’t do anything
ALMOST Perfect
This is the best Jellyfin client by far imo BUT it does not support pop out play which is sadly a dealbreaker
Still not good enough to switch from Plex
No subtitle-selection during playback, no disabling autoplay next episode… basic features Plex can do since the beginning. No alternative to Plex unfortunately…
Great but which network was handled differently
Overall decent design. The thing that makes me not love it, is that for local network access to work, you have to enable location instead of just providing a local address the server would be available at. Finamp does this for Jellyfin music and it works beautifully. Other than that I’m really liking this open source player. Thanks for your hard work
Awesome
I never review anything but I love this app. Works really well, clean.
Subtitles not working, makes it a total dealbreaker!
Subtitles don’t seem to be working, and can’t be changed/selected from playback screen, this makes the app virtually unusable for me as I require subtitles!
Spatial Audio
Very nice Jellyfin alternative. Please add support for AirPods Spatial Audio feature 🙏
Subtitle feature
Please add subtitle controls back to the video player
Unique functionality, but everything else…
The download ability in this app is unique, as far as I can tell. It is similar to what you’d expect in a normal streaming service download feature, you get the full experience with subtitles, episode overview and trickplay pictures on downloads. However, every other aspect of this app is highly problematic, and getting worse AFAICT. IDK what the author is actually doing, but it feels like a vibe coded app. The UI is very unresponsive and may trigger actions multiple times when you redo it while uncertain if the first action worked. And the way that this interacts with each other is really weird. Like, it may trigger actions you did on a page before you navigated off that page and then back to it. There are also plenty of visual glitches, like rotation placing the video stream in only part of the window. Sometimes these glitches repair themselves, sometimes not. There are also UX issues that someone that actually uses the app themselves should probably notice, like the search tab not automatically selecting the search box and opening the keyboard, when that is the only thing that can be done on that page. Last but not least, AFAICT (with all the other glitches it may be something else for all I can tell) the last update seems to have broken the offline playback, which was the only reason I used this app in the first place.
fantastic app
wow seeing PiP added was such a pleasant surprise. this client feels complete to me now :) great UX
Subtitle issue
This app would be amazing if I could turn off subtitles. I understand this is probably made by a small team but that should be a bare minimum feature/bug fix. It has been this way for months. I set them to off and they are still displayed. It would be nice to have hdr support but I don’t need it for my purposes.
good view
very nice client, but lack of basic functions, like playback speed control... please add it!
Good if it worked
The app has a nice design, and decent ideas (jellyseer integration for example). The problem comes with actually using it. The app is constantly freezing or crashing. If the app is closed (this includes automatic closing in the background) all pending downloads are removed.
Quick connect
Quick connect doesn’t work on both ios and apple tv. Please fix it
Love it
This is by far the best of the jellyfin apps I’ve ever used. It combines all the great features into one easy to use application.
New update messed up horizontal mode
You cant swap the subtitles when watching a video now, you have to exit out the video and change the subtitles also on the iphone 16 pro the Exit button is improperly cropped out
Only way to Google Cast on iOS with Jellyfin
This app is super awesome and I hope the development continues to make the casting and overall experiences using the app even better. As the title mentions it’s the only way to google cast, or chromecast your jellyfin content on iOS and I gotta highly paise it just for that alone since the official Jellyfin client does not. I hope to see updates on the activity tracking of casted shows. Keep up the awesome work!
Idea is great, execution less so
Sometimes the screen randomly turns and then turns back quickly during playback in landscape mode. It also randomly crashes during playback making the app almost unusable
Almost perfect
Everything in this app works great, however, when adding music videos - u can’t have music videos randomly play or even added on a playlist, it would have to be selected. It plays only a single video each time. Other than that, the app is flawless.
PLEASE GIVE IT AIRPLAY
the normal Jellyfin app has it, if this app had it it would be 100%complete, going to give 5 star because of its versatility
Fantastic but..
Please remove the gesture controls. All of them. They constantly bug with newer phones due to the swiping required to close the app. Disabling doesn’t even work in the settings.
So close to perfect!
This app is almost perfect. I couldnt believe the official Jellyfin client app is missing the ability to download videos, having that here is awesome. The jellyseerr integration is an amazing touch as well. When there’s app integration across services it makes my spouse believe more in selfhosted applications (which helps justify the time and money spent on the hobby lol). The only thing this app is lacking is polish. Design-wise it looks great. However, occasionally opening videos will throw a playback URI error but hitting okay plays the video anyways. Subtitles don’t seem to work on downloads. Also the app occasionally crashes when switching between watching videos. Once polished, this app deserves to be the official Jellyfin client app. The only feature adds I would love are an Apple TV app and AirPlay support. This app is extremely promising and I hope development continues!
Not actually the client that can download your content
Sure the overall look of this app is different than jellyfin and it looks good. However the reason this app is supposed to be better is because it can let you download your content and play it offline. It straight up doesn’t work, it’s so frustratingly buggy and broken. At first it took a really long time to finally download something. Then the app would crash within 5 seconds every time it was opened. There was no fix to this so I deleted and redownloaded the app. Now it will download to 100% then backtrack to 99% and then restart back from 0%. I left it overnight and the whole night not one thing downloaded. Very frustrating. I’ve tried downloading with different quality options as well as with and without subtitles and nothing works. In the past the downloads had worked at times but it is a huge gamble each time.
Buggy but has potential
It’s a good app but has quite a few bugs. For example the sliders for brightness and audio prevent you from pulling down the control center on an iPad in landscape mode. There was also another bug where the app would complain my server is unreachable while playing a video. It would complain over and over with a popup which was frustrating. You also can’t change subtitle track from the video player which is also frustrating.
Better Than All Alternatives
Functional chrome cast is appreciated! Missing support for some things, but I can use the web portal if needed.
Does not work
I punch in my url and it says it cannot connect despite the official client working fine.
Best Jellyfin Client on IOS!
I have tried *many* Jellyfin clients over the years I’ve been using Jellyfin, and this one by far is the best - with a few (not so minor) drawbacks. If you are a newcomer and confused as to what this app technically entails, it is a client for an open source media server called Jellyfin. To use this app, you will need to physically host a Jellyfin server and populate it with your own media, and this will allow you to access that media on your phone. The positives first: -It uses a native video player! Most Jellyfin clients (including the “official” app) is just wrapping paper for a website - this one is an actual robust app with really good performance and nice features. -You can download compressed media! This is the most requested feature for Jellyfin - and Streamyfin has it! Every movies home page has an icon showing the average bitrate for the movie and the size. From there you can choose to stream or download at a lower frame rate for a lower file size! -It adds new home and movie categories. The base Jellyfin is a little bland, this actually natively adds “suggested” media to Jellyfin home page, as well as Movie pages, which includes other movies the main actors are in. This is amazing for fleshing out the quantity you have in your Jellyfin library! -The last thing I just want to make sure I note is that everything looks nice. Transitions are smooth, everything is large enough that a small media library seems full, but not so large that you still have a wide field of view - which is also good for how easy it is to navigate. But now we have the cons: -It only supports videos. Only movies and TV shows. I share my Jellyfin server with some of my family, and many… are not as tech savvy as me. I also have books and music on my server, and it would make things a lot easier for them (and less tough of a sell for me to convince them to use it) if everything was accessible on one app. As of right now though, this is the main thing people use Jellyfin for. -It does not show custom names for movies. If you have multiple versions of a movie Streamyfin will just list it as “<Resolution> <codec> <HDR profile>.” I have a good few movies with extended editions, but when choosing a version they are named identically. This makes it confusing for choosing the right movie version, and it seems as if this was made to make it easier if you have different versions of quality for a movie. I’m not sure on that thought because they already have the option to stream/download at a lower bitrate - already solving that problem. -“Fit to screen” button currently does not work. Not as big of an issue for me, as all of my media is cropped to remove black bars. This automatically has the media completely fill my phone, with black bars around only two sides. However, I would much prefer that over cropping any of the video. Overall, the features this provides are very sought-after, and is what should be implemented in Jellyfin as-is, almost like this app is a snapshot into the future of Jellyfin. So much so that its cons can be overlooked, at least for me. This is the one I recommend to everyone - just make sure you have a way to access books and music if they’re available.
No Offline Support
Doesn’t work offline, so the download function is pretty useless. Don’t expect to watch your shows on a plane
Great design but plagued by bugs
The app is very well designed and easily my preferred iOS client, but unfortunately it has constant bugs most prevalent being freezing constantly when browsing libraries. Almost anytime i’m browsing I will have to restart the app because it inevitably freezes. Other common bugs I’ve experienced are media not loading even on local network (other device clients will load perfectly), the client failing to report the correct hardware causing the video to be transcoded instead of direct playing half the time (client will sometimes report no HDR support on my OLED iPhone), and some buttons being unresponsive even when the rest of the UI is not frozen (mainly the seasons button when viewing a show I’ve noticed). Overall there isn’t a better client for iOS that I could recommend as each has their own problems and limitations, but it would be a lie to say the issues with this app aren’t very irritating sometimes.
Not perfect but very good
Still a young app… some bugs yet… but easily superior to all the other iOS Jellyfin apps. A great start. Well done. Excited to see progress going forward. Thanks for your work here.
Doesn’t work at all
Love the UI and features but videos just won’t load at all. Jellyfin and Swiftfin both work fine. Really disappointing
Nice modern & clean UI, but fit to screen button is not functioning.
Lots of potential for this app… the UI is very clean and modern looking, plus the ability to easily download for offline viewing is a game changer. The only negative aspect I’ve encountered is that the ‘Stretch to fill / fit’ button doesn’t seem to work for me, when the official client has no issue with the same media. As another reviewer said, this absolutely is a diamond in the rough, but more diamond than rough— it’s shaping up very nicely. I can see this easily becoming my preferred mobile client once I get ‘stretch to fit’ working on my iOS devices. Thanks for all the hard work!
Strong Promise, But Not There Just Yet
This app really does seem like it can replace the official Jellyfin app (which is just a wrapper of the web version) and be a strong contender against Infuse for downloading content from the fin, but the app and its features feel very half baked at the moment. I’m continuously running into error messages when playing downloaded content from my Jellyfin server, exiting out of a stream can lead to weird resizing and orientation issues, and downloaded content doesn’t display subtitles properly in my experience. I do believe that this app shows strong promise and I am really hoping that this app will allow for people using Jellyfin be able to download non-H264 content and offer playback for free, but given the instability and quirks in its current state I just can’t recommend it. Am very hopeful that future updates will polish it and make it a better client.
Good UI and functionality, missing one key thing
The one big thing the Streamyfin app needs is to continue videos where I left off. Each time I try to play a video I was partway through, it starts over at the beginning. Otherwise it’s a good app with a lot of potential.
Solid app
Love this app and love the new UI updates.
Constantly crashes.
I tried downloading some content from my server. And the doing so broke the app in such a way where it now crashes every time I open the app. And it crashes hard, freezing and crashing all of IOS. I tried reinstalling and doing it again and the same thing happened. It’s sad because otherwise the app seems so good.
Chromecast!
Very useful to cast to those stuck with chromecast. However, I wish it would recognize folder structure in loose libraries like official client app.
Needs serious work
Always in favor of a great feature set and slick UI, but this one's not ready for primetime. Your results may vary, but I am crashing left and right with this app, sometimes within mere seconds or opening it. And that wouldn't be so bad but every time the app crashes I lose all my downloads, because for some reason my data is dependant on the app continuously being open. Big time bad design there. Good thing I figured that one out before my trip eh?
