Must have app for a Chicagoan
I have been using this apps for past couple of years and have found it useful. There are picture uploads features. Whenever I have submitted an issue it’s has been worked on. It’s works well as you report it they work and will notify you once it gets resolved.
New Account Login never Works
I keep getting a notification saying my login attempt has failed. I created a brand new account with a new password and I still get the following message when trying to login. “City of chicago 311 Email Password Your login attempt has failed. Make sure the username and password are correct. You will be locked out of logging in for 15 minutes after 3 failed attempts”
Great app, when it works
I love the concept of this app and all of the services is can connect you to. The only problem is that it can be glitchy. For example, I tried to submit a graffiti removal request and it will not allow me to select an address.
Glitchy
I tried submitting a request for a pothole and included photos. Did not work. Had to cancel request and redo it without photos.
App has problems
When tapping to open app the app crashes completely closes itself. Fix it.
Can’t upload photos
Unfortunately, including Photos has become impossible because you can’t resize the images in the file sizes are too large. Please fix this.
Poor development practices
The app produces vague errors like “Request Create Error” with no info for resolution. Desperately needs updates, but the city isn’t following any standard practices for tracking and fixing bugs. They don’t answer phone calls to the support number and hide the email address.
Ok but can be improved
1) city is too slow to address submitted issues. Feels pointless to submit anything on here 2) no option to submit illegally cars parked
Mark incomplete jobs as complete
This app is basically useless because they keep on marking jobs complete that they haven’t even gone to. There’s been a crate around Lakeshore Drive for about a month and they keep ignoring it.
Glitchy app
This app works less than half of the time. Chicago needs to hire different developers to fix this glitchy app.
Promising but needs updates
Centralizing and digitizing most city requests is incredibly helpful and promotes community engagement. However, this app has been neglected for over two years and urgently needs improvements. The file size limits for photos prevent most smartphone photos from being used, and there’s no effective way to find information specific to your ward. Additionally, the request statuses are vague and confusing.
Rarely works
It’s the buggiest app I have ever used. You spend the time writing up a 311 complaint only for it to say there was an issue when you try to submit it. It’s totally useless.
Submit errors causes by poor app info
The app has an arbitrary 5mb limit per photos but it’s only visible on the website so when you try to upload an image on the app you simply get an error message without being able to understand why it’s failing. I guess most people just give up because of this outdated file size issue. A modern image is 10-20mb on an iPhone. Please update to stop preventing people from submitting important local issues.
Add more request options
This is a great app for requesting things in the city, but it needs more options for requests. Or at least an “Other” option that allows residents to type something specific. There’s no request for getting the crosswalks lines repainted since they started fading away the day after they were painted!?!? There’s no request to get a street light that’s too bright at night turned off!?!? Would love to see this app and its features become more useful for tending to specific needs and not just a drop down list of most common requests. Best
Worst app
The app does not let you submit request. Keep saying their a error in your request to submit your request. I don’t see the purpose of this as being developed if they can’t fix the issues.
Not maintained
Many of the requests I try to submit just result in endless flashing 3 dots. The app hasn’t been updated in years and there seems to be no way to report bugs.
Would be extremely useful if some bugs were resolved
I appreciate the amount of information on the app - the “learn more” pages for service requests is super helpful for example, and I recognize that a lot of work probably went into building this. However, there are a few things that need improvement for this app to be truly useable. I experienced a lot of issues with confirming my email. It resolved eventually (that is, after trying to confirm my email but being unable to load the page after clicking the link in the email, a few months passed and randomly I managed to reset my password and successfully log in) but it shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. The app also doesn’t keep me logged in, which is annoying. There are no options to stay logged in. I also am unable to follow requests. When looking up a service request number, pressing the “+ Follow” button collapses the open request but does not add it to my “following” list of requests. Could be a great city services app. Hope it will be, sooner rather than later. God knows we pay enough in taxes!
Comically bad app
Couldn’t even verify my email address, the verification email took me to a dead link and now I’m stuck in a cycle where I can neither confirm my account nor say I forgot my password.
Won’t let me submit tickets
Recently, the 311 app has stopped allowing me to submit tickets. I get all the way through the ticket creation and it gives me an error when I click submit.
Wish there were more categories to report an issue
It would be great if there were more categories to select from while trying to report an issue, like vehicles parking on sidewalks or reporting delivery vehicles
App sucks needs a lot of improvements
I downloaded this app to make path holes reports and made an account, but couldn’t login. It kept telling my email or password is wrong which isn’t the case and app crashes a lot while in use.
Requires Location Sharing for No Reason
When trying to submit service requests, the app appears to crash if you don’t turn on your location sharing when using the app. I should not be required to share my location with you. I can just type in an address like I do when using the website. Also the login page should be coded so that it allows for my phone to access saved usernames and passwords.
Can’t even make a working login
0/10, made two separate accounts and neither could log in, even after verification
Fix it
Cant submit reports because it errors out. Happens when photos are attached. Very buggy.
Completely useless
The app seem to have a broken registration flow, I tried 2 times to register and every time it does not recognize the password. after one attempt it tells me the account is locked , so I have to wait 5 minutes. This is after I tried 311 to call to report an abandoned vehicle 2 times in a week and no action was taken, when I try to trace some accountability it seems like it’s impossible due to a broken app. Same like your services useless services useless app.
Picture attachment is broken.
For whatever reason, on iOS, the picture attachment doesn’t work and I believe it’s because the file size is throwing an error.

I’m trying to place a new service request (report an abandoned vehicle). I completed all of the fields. It even let me upload a few photos. Now, at the very end, I click the ‘send request’ option, I see the little dots like its thinking, and then nothing. Ugh!
