What people like
- Helpful tool for comparing fuel prices
- Small app that works on all devices
- Does not feel invasive or creepy
What they complain about
- Login and setup keep failing constantly
- Security questions are weird and unfair
- Excludes people with older, cheaper phones
- Fuel price data is often outdated
Fuel prices
Handy to have the fuel comparison information, click on the servo saver at the bottom of the app.
Digital inequality and discrimination
The decision to only support phones with newer iOSs is disappointing and feels unfair to users who cannot afford to upgrade their devices regularly. Not everyone has the financial ability to purchase the latest phone, so restricting access based on device age can disproportionately exclude lower-income users. While updating technology is understandable, developers should consider supporting older devices for longer so affordability doesn’t become a barrier to accessing the app. Overall, the app risks contributing to the digital divide rather than providing an inclusive experience for all users.
Apple Watch
Sometimes I leave my phone at home and just rely on my Apple Watch. Please port to Apple Watch, or allow Seniors Card to use Apple Wallet.
Weird
Why design an app app that calls up a web site then asks you to download the app to be able to geographically locate fuel outlets
Logout message says “all data will be lost”
As the Logout message says “all data will be lost” which is a bit bizzare ! and implies the need to stay logged in, but you need to setup a PIN. It should also allow Face ID, given the Account info contains personal data.
Great app
5/5
One star
Absolutely useless app. I’m trying to add my valid Victorian driver licence, entering the details exactly as they appear on the physical card, and the app simply says “Licence not found.” No useful explanation, no way to resolve the issue, and no proper support when something goes wrong. A government app should be reliable and actually help users when verification fails. Extremely frustrating and a complete waste of time.
QR Code checkin
Useful but would the developers be able to allow an iOS shortcut that launches the QR code scanner and check in feature? That would save several screen taps and allow faster check-ins.
Nothing new in fuel saver
Travelling. In WA atm. The WA service app shows today’s prices and tomorrow’s prices must be lodged by 14:30 the day before. Failure results in fines. This gives people the chance to decide whether to buy on the day or wait till better prices the next day. Why can’t we have the same laws in vic, seems simple.
The fuel app
I have found that the fuel app does not show the brands I have selected I will stick with fuel map and petrol spy the both of them cover all brands that’s the only problem with it so far….
Typical of Labor
I’ve had a Services Victoria since Covid. When the certificate was in the app. Haven’t logged in for a while. Tried to log in and says ‘doesn’t recognise my email’ . Okaaaay. This government really needs to go.
A citizen
This app is hopeless. Just sends you round in circles and gives you no info.
Login issue
I tried to login with saved password, it failed. I did reset my password and tried logging in with new password again it failed. Not sure if it is a bug or what. It is happening since a month. Initially I thought maybe issue is from my end. But it is still happening, I can’t login at all…
Data mining.
There are those who say that this app was developed by Palentir. Very concerning who this data is being collected by and who is using it possibly for unauthorised purposes.
Going round in circles
Trying to get the servo saver from service Victoria just takes you round and round to the whole service Victoria basic app. So I registered and logged in thinking that would solve the loop. If didn’t do round and round I go. There is another app on the Apple site but it’s not the government app and totally different. So basically this is one big fail Victorian Government
App is good, logic is broken
The app is good, very well optimised. What isn’t good, is the fuel logic. Retailers can just set really high maximums and readjust their prices anywhere within. It should be like PetrolSpy that has a set price, not a max/min.
Doesn’t work.
Servo Saver App. Can’t get it to work. Keeps telling me to download the app. I have. I even deleted the app and reinstalled. No surprise. More govt technology that over promises and under delivers.
Petrol prices not updated
Petrol prices in the 20 or so locations I looked at have not been updated in weeks, or even months.
Seems to work
This app appears to work functionally, but the UI/UX is sub par. Maybe there’s a technical reason, but why does this app go through a different ID verification process instead of connecting to myID?
What’s the point?
I use this as my primary ID since auspost keypass was retired. But the damn ID isn’t loading. What’s the point of a phone wallet ID if it’s not reliable?! I still have to carry my damn card just in case.
Why?
Why is Government doing this forcing us to find cheaper fuel rather than Government controlling fuel prices. Onus on us I don’t think so…..
What sort of idiocy is this?
I have an existing version of the app on my phone. It says I need to download the app to get the new Servo Saver functionality. Puzzling. And annoying. But not entirely unreasonable. Except the App Store doesn’t ask if I want to update. It only gives the option to Open. That would be, Open the existing version. Not Catch-22, but similar circular logic. Do we have to delete the existing version to get the new version to download? I’m not used to having to delete a version to get a new version to download and install. Even the AFL app doesn’t require that, and it’s the clunkiest app known to Victorians.
Poor app
Incredibly frustrating app. I tried to create a login to access the rego rebate. But the entire website keeps on crashing, and cannot get through the entire login set up. Each time it crashes, the email address I used to create an account gets blocked. I’ve used up all my email addresses, and still cannot get an account set up.
Ridiculous security questions
What’s with the weird security question options? What’s my first injury from playing sport? What’s my dad’s favourite pizza topping? This makes a lot of assumptions about what people’s lives look like.
Too hard to login
Repeatedly asked to setup security even though I’ve done it before and the password forgot questions are too hard. Also want to add license to device wallet.
Locked out from my self
Thank you inauthenticator
Unable to link COVID vaccine certificate
Still unable to load COVID vaccine certificate on iPhone 6 iOS 12.5.5 Service Vic version 1.15.0, safari pop up allowed.
Unreliable
There’s a lot to like about the SV app. It’s small, it’s fast, it works on all devices. It isn’t invasive! But, it also needs to work reliably. - The QR codes are too complex (too much data!) and so are hard to scan in anything but perfect light - The app slices are inconsistent; when they don’t appear (which is often!), the website is opened instead… and there’s no way to checkin on the website - The “skip” button on first launch doesn’t actually work
Lies
App says my phone is compatible but my phone is too old to upgrade to iOS 16. Once again the government favour those with plenty of money who can afford new phones.
hard to login in
Tried to login in via the app, as well as website. Both failed. The screen just frozen without any notice.
