This game used to be simple, straightforward, and rewarding for me. If you like feeling constantly disappointed then this game is for you. The game itself is not bad, the base of it is to your daily’s try to progress the story and all while doing this you unlock new heroes and upgrade them. Pretty alright. Where this game really fails at is simplicity. The art is simplistic, the concept is simplistic, however the constant barrage of updates, watering down the hero pool with way too many elites, and endless events that are pointless in the grand scheme of things is frustrating. It’s supposed to be an uninvolved type of game. You would think the name “AFK arena” would be mostly a time waster and you’d be correct. Not in a fun way though. The mechanics are set up to make you want to progress. To be the best. No problem with that. Where by concern lay is with the sheer amount of money you have to spend to be competitive. If you’ve got the money, good for you. It used to be easy to use redemption codes to get varying sums of diamonds or hero shards. Not anymore. They contorted the system so it’s a pain in the backside to get anything “for free”. After you level up enough you will be stuck for weeks if not months on a certain stage. Every diamond you can get helps. They are however greedy with their diamonds. Hiding the vast majority of them behind pay walls. It becomes an unenjoyable grind to play this game for free. Most of the useful characters are so impossible to attain because a singular one of them (you need about 40 elite cards to max out an elite) is only attainable by pure luck over hundreds of thousands of diamonds or one small payment of 99.99$. What a steal. This is a game for people with an insane amount of cash and if you don’t have 100k to blow on this game, you are just whale food. Take it from a guy who was running 10 separate free accounts before he quit. There is some fun to be had but it’s few and far between after a while. Ps. They really cheesed me off when they changed the redemption system. The game is a solid 3 star even with all the nonsense tho.

A game that wants your money but will take your time
At it’s core the game is still a Pay To Win (Faster). Putting money down quickly shows you how much more you can succeed and at a much faster pace. That said, it’s also obvious that the game can be played on its own without money involved and still be enjoyable. The story isn’t all that compelling but the characters have personality and some depth which makes them more enjoyable to collect. The art style is also clean cut yet still expressive without looking choppy and offputting. All in all it’s good. It’s just better when you pay.

Spiel hat viele Jahre Spaß gemacht….
Ich spiele AFK Arena nun seit über vier Jahren täglich und hatte in dieser Zeit wirklich sehr viel Spaß mit dem Spiel. Die verschiedenen Helden, Events und Spielmodi haben mich lange motiviert, jeden Tag einzuloggen. Besonders positiv fand ich immer, dass man auch ohne große Geldausgaben gut mithalten konnte. Wer bereit war, viel Zeit in das Spiel zu investieren, konnte sich über die Jahre einen starken Account aufbauen und mit anderen Spielern konkurrenzfähig bleiben. Leider hat sich das Spiel meiner Meinung nach in letzter Zeit in eine Richtung entwickelt, die für F2P-Spieler (Free-to-Play) immer frustrierender wird. Gefühlt erscheint mit fast jedem Update ein neuer erwachter Held. Das Problem dabei ist, dass die benötigten Embleme zum Ziehen dieser Helden extrem schwer zu bekommen sind, wenn man kein Geld investieren möchte. Bis man einen erwachten Helden überhaupt auf ein konkurrenzfähiges Niveau oder sogar auf Maximalstufe gebracht hat, sind gefühlt bereits mehrere neue erwachte Helden erschienen. Dadurch hat man als F2P-Spieler ständig das Gefühl, hinterherzulaufen und nie wirklich aufholen zu können. Das finde ich sehr schade, denn AFK Arena war für mich lange ein Spiel, das auch ohne große Geldausgaben, aber mit entsprechendem Zeitaufwand, sehr fair und motivierend war. Ich hoffe, dass die Entwickler künftig wieder mehr Möglichkeiten schaffen, damit auch langjährige F2P-Spieler mit den neuen Inhalten Schritt halten können.

Decent game
The game itself is pretty decent, but it’s highly repetitive. You do the same things over and over again with absolutely nothing changing. Besides that, the gacha is pretty fair and you get to rank up your character at a decent pace.

I say this game is kind of addicting to me. Its pretty fun to play and I love it. Been playing for a couple of years but just return to actually playing it now.
Lots of Reworking To Be Done
This game used to be really fun and enjoyable to play, but now all of the levels have gotten significantly harder and is especially more apparent when you only have a few elite heroes. The compensation codes don’t do very much as the lower the level you are, the lower amount of resources you will receive. Also, you need tons of elite heroes to progress further, but with the current odds, it’s challenging. One final thing is the character diversity. Most heroes are either white or an animal; there is no diversity. Please take these into consideration to enhance the game experience and the enjoyment in it.

Good game ! but overpriced for a very low odds , used to spend alot in the beginning I had to delete it for almost a year so I give up spending loads of money almost in the air , back on now and love it but after 2 years of playing 432 days away I’d say 3 star , 1 star off coz over priced and second u need ton of materials here and there too even if u have the hero and the materials slows u down way more

I honestly do love this game it gets better and better. every time I get bored of it I see something cool like re zero or a new awakened hero and i get the want to play it. I made this comment years years ago. And still i keep returning to this game every year. It may be hard as a FTP but its still fun.
New update ruined it
This game is super fun but the new update made it even harder to progress without spending money on the game. Before the update I had enough to ascend one of my characters and now I have to wait and farm even more?? As a free to play player this game gets more and more impossible so I wouldn’t bother.

okay, okay. so, at first, the game was REALLY fun and addictive at first, but then it kind of got a bit boring and i got burnt out and deleted it. allow me to explain… pros / pretty character designs generous gacha good for f2ps no tedious grinding required cons / can get boring after a while character dupes become harder to get SOME players can be really problematic overall, it’s a good game, but the burnout is inevitable… BUT i’d like lesbians :3 also scarlet and nevanthi are QUEENS

July 1 2025 Update Glitchy
The game has been struggling lately with keeping people active. BUT the latest update on July 1, 2025 has made the game so glitchy. Some things are not loading or you’re on a map and then the directional buttons disappear and you’re stuck on the map with no way off it other than to shut down the game and reboot it. Please fix it.

This game used to be incredible, and I have logged in almost every day for the past 5+ years. Lilith were very generous to F2P, and as a low spender ($30 pm) I was able to compete well in a lot of content. Now, Lilith has pretty much abandoned any new events, refuses to fix broken systems (collections), and given up on new 4F heroes. Disappointing to see Lilith step away from their core gameplay/creative vision to bleed every remaining $ out of this game.

As much as I would love to keep playing, the game has gotten so big and the events and even the rewards bug it out. Not even my iPad can handle it and it’s way newer than my phone. I’m stuck on loading screens for what feels like hours. As a long time player I would love to keep playing the game but if the game won’t load it makes it hard to even get past the loading screen when you even open the app. This game is unique and I love playing it when I can, I’ve had it since 2020 and it really is a good game. Just know when going into the game that it takes a newer device to run it and at least a good chunk of ram on said device.
