Still a MegaTen Game
Been a fan of MegaTen games since Nocturne. Above all, I love the OST and steady drip of new designs for all the figures of myth. As for gameplay, it’s the classic formula - until you get to the higher ranks in competitive play. The usual considerations for damage resistance and weakness becomes moot as all the meta-characters have pierce, swapping demons mid-fight isn’t a function, and the innate abilities that made weaker demons viable in SMTV’s recent remake limit the scope of effective team builds. Aside from the sweaty ranked matches, the game is fun and offers a story that mainline SMT fans will enjoy and offers plenty of free resources to help get new players up to speed - you’re only ever a few pulls away from a good team anyway and your odds are as good as anyone else’s with that. Not to mention you’ll be bankrolling SMT6. Not a bad deal.
New update makes it unplayable
Connection error, random Japanese error, random error that had no text, got in once and I couldn’t close the events pop up so had to restart, now it just won’t open at all.

I really wish the developers would just add the version of Satan from Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse and Shin Megami Tensei V Vengeance.
Abysmal 5 rank drops for the past year
Ive been playing for a few years, I used to get a good 5 rank demon somewhat consistently. For the past year maybe more I have got nothing but the bottom of the barrel and decided this isnt worth anyones time or money. The new demons look haphazardly thrown together and usually break the meta or just arent worth even looking at. Used to be an OK game now is pretty bad and predatory with microtransactions. Play SMT V and avoid this slop.

A total scam where you spend 2 $70 packs to get a banner character only to get nothing. It’s insulting the level of disrespect this game has for its userbase, I hate it

Concept: A+, Greed: Off the Charts
It’s a great time if you enjoy the smt or persona series and want to casually collect some demons. Don’t let that lull you into a false sense of security though. The gacha wall will be hit, and it will be felt fast and eventually and you’ll feel it if you’re trying to go free to play or even if you try and spend light. Upgrading demons past a certain point becomes a Herculean task and I’d recommend free to playing it to those who have some masochistic tendencies. Supporting this game with the amount of anti player decisions Sega makes does make me feel actual shame whenever I boot it up. Be warned, Sega will not throw you any bones here.
Dx2 WAS ONCE a wonderful SMT game!
Dx2 is a true Shin Megami Tensei game - at least until they became greedy. I don’t mind paying real $ for some things, but they JUST added a paywall to some rewards that had been all-player rewards. They got rid of ECLIPSE - a cute idea using 2 categories of demons for battle at a increasingly challenging scale. It’s gone now & those rewards are locked behind a paywall. The plot is engaging, NPCs are distinct & demons used are from the SMT pantheon - with some media tie-ins. It is infuriating that player demons are limited to level 50, but enemy demons keep scaling up & UP & to insane levels - like 90+ - & probably higher. I have some nice demons, but can’t afford to BUY the most expensive ones. $80 for one demon is stupidly expensive. I wish Dx2 hadn’t gotten so greedy.
I Iove this game but gotta fix duel
In duel a lot of players are complaining and even I’m a witness to it press turns icons not being consumed and glitches and bugs all across the board on fights that shoulda been won
Game is unplayable
New events force “cuts scenes” with no SKIP option block the screen when you boot up the app. 3 minutes of button (screen) mashing to speed it up and they’re STILL TALKING?! You want players to spend money but won’t allow them to play! #fail

Incredibly average.
I played this game for about 3 weeks. In that time, I realized this game had a boring, no-stakes story that made no attempts to establish any characters or, god forbid, develop them. The combat is fine, but you will probably be disappointed if you come looking for mainline SMT gameplay.
Please bring SMT 1/2 to modern platforms

Having being familiar with the megaten series, this game was a nice little addition to the franchise, and is a good distraction till “Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance” drops. It still has it’s classic themes and tropes of the occult, apocalyptic, philosophical and even minimalistic aspects that makes the series stand out from other JRPGs, and I love that for these games, they’re not afraid to tackle heavy stuff, and the gameplay is pretty solid too, plenty of demons from all SMT games and even collaborations are there in their full 3D glory. Overall SMT Dx2 is a very solid mobile JRPG that I have been playing since its release, 9.6/10.
High hopes from a smt lover but
Impossible to enjoy the game properly when every min you got tutorials thrown on your screen or other pointless information, you finish one bunch of tutorials that pop up by spamming them away just for more to pop up! You will have finished one tutorial on a new area of the game which is fair enough since first time going on there but then more pops up and when the instructions are done it kicks you back to game Home Screen it’s so annoying, after hours in the game they still popping up for stuff asif we don’t have common sense to know what to do anyway Mayswel just turn the game into a movie since all I seem to be doing is watching and spamming away pointless dumb written instructions.

Decent but nothing like the original
The game is decent for what it is but when compared to the older pc game that got shutdown it is a let down. There is no real community or customization. In the pc version it felt like the demons you trained and worked with were companions like pokemon. The social factor was better too with customized outfits, marketplace, and common third areas
Pretty good, but I like more darkness
I played shin megami tenses way back like 25 years ago, but I remember it having a much darker tone that I liked more. Recently, I beat soul hackers 2 and it totally sucked me back into the series, downloading smt 3 on steam right now, and can’t wait. Still have barely touched the persona series but I am looking forward to it. I love long games. This game seems like it has a lot of potential and good strategy. There’s soooo much to learn though it seems, which is cool, just hoping I don’t get too confused
SMT in name only
Aside for the presence of all the demons of SMT and the press turn battle system, it’s just a generic turn based gacha full of predatory microtransactions, simplified « gameplay » designed to be automated so it of course become too easy as only power truly matter compared to mainline where to survive, you have to exploit weaknesses, do the right choices when fusing, use buffs/debuffs, in a nutshell think strategically(a word that mobile developers love using but clearly don’t understand). Also the story of what I saw try too much to be the worst aspects of Persona instead of the dark, twisted nature of mainline that make them feel quite unique as RPGs.
Good, but greedy, like EA greedy.
I think the game is well designed and has a good concept. Except for the start of the game and any time I attempt to summon. The offers that come up are egregiously greedy. I wouldn’t be so turned off from a game if I wasn’t greeted with “BUY MY $150 MICROTRANSACTIONS” any time I started up the game. It’s honestly disgusting, especially with the recent commotions of these practices. I’ve uninstalled the game and will not come back to it out of fear of clicking and being charged for a $100 bundle I didn’t want by accident.

Customer service is the worst and only wants to make you spend more money
I have attempted on multiple occasions to recover my original account which i have have answered the questions that pertain to identifying a player to their customer service but the customer service want you to answer questions that will not help identify who you are for example if you last played this game say 2020 or 2021 and we in 2025 bout to be 2026 why would you remember your last login date, your defense team from years ago, all of your demons, a transfer ID and an account ID from years ago. Then the kicker what actually would help identify player they disabled with meta but have instruction on how to recover the ID that would identify you as the user of the game account. Instead they rather you answer the questions about a defense team, last login date, transfer id, account id, O and let me not forget i even gave a screenshot depicting my player name, demons i had at the time. Which they even said my player name is incorrect but i have a whole picture that shows it is correct. I don't know if it certain agents who has a problem or if the company is actually just trying to make you create a new account to help its numbers stay relevant, make player spend money for no reason when they already have an account they spend a lot of money on before. But they need to rethink how to recover users accounts and remove the questions that literally has nothing to do with identifying a player in they game i am not happy with the company or developer of this game if they end up only wanting money and just money from player instead of fixing its backward recovery process. Might as well go back to play tensai online in the private servers at least they not gonna hold your account for ransom or to male you spend more money on a game that you already spent a lot on. Also their is a whole Reddit post showcasing player getting they account back by just showing the Facebook ID that they again gave instructions for. So its very contradicting and feels like you have some employees who want the game to just get bad rep for its horrible customer service and recovery process. Hope I'm not the only one who went through this and still could not recover they account I will not change my rating till you come up with a better way to recover people accounts

it looks like last update broke the game, I am stuck at the first disclaimer with a loading logo looping over and over. Great game so far
Great game, but a glitch makes it unplayable
Sometimes the actions I can do don’t show up at all, meaning I can’t choose what my selected demon does. This means I either have to use auto or use an item. This isn’t too bad in normal levels but when you add pvp in the mix, you find yourself losing a fights you could’ve won if the glitch didn’t occur. It’s infuriating. I really hope the develops fix this glitch because I can’t play the game with this glitch messing with me.

I have played the persona games and then I heard that they were a parody of shin megami tensei but those games cost money while this one does not and the game all in all is quite fun with the battle system along with the story.
Possibly the Worst Gacha Game I've Ever Played. A Honest Review
If you genuinely like being treated like a 3rd class citizen, feel free to install SMT: Dx2. You could grind your life away for currency to get your face spat on. Not whale friendly and the game feels like it constantly hates you. It's very PvP oriented which is very convoluted and frustrating for its players. Horrible and painful powercreep and absolutely not F2P friendly. Expect spending at least $100-200 to get one copy of what you want.
Amazing game with achievable gacha elements but…
Special demons (like Sonic the Hedgehog) would come only once and disappear for what feels like forever with no hinting at a return.
Why did you think this was ok ?
I see little no reason to lower the PAID summon to 1%, people would be more inclined to spend at a higher chance. Have more items in the shop. For everyone who farms the event like crazy. What are we supposed to do with all these orbs sitting there. DMC is a fav series of mine and I’m sad to see that the art was just ripped from the game assets and not drawn like the bayonetta ones. Dx2 is a series that I’d really like to keep playing and occasionally spend money on. I see little no reason though to continue if all these new demons are going to be locked behind all these paywalls and LOWERED rates.

The game can seem greedy but it is actually easy to run and pretty fun the crossover were and are still awesome going to devil may cry bayonetta berserk and now sonic is insane and yeah its hard to lv up at a certain point but its really rewarding

I love Shin Megami Tensei
I’ve loved this series since I was 8 years old, so my opinion may be biased. Like the rest of the series, this game is extremely fun and addictive to play. It’s fast paced JRPG combat with highly customizable team building and monster collecting elements. The story reminds me of a mix of the Devil Summoner series, Devil Survivor, and mainline Shin Megami Tensei series rolled into one. The characters are fun and OST is full of bangers, as usual. The ability to battle other players and their teams is nice, since it hasn’t been seen since the MMO. I also love that this game brings back a lot of demons that haven’t been featured in the series for YEARS, with some even getting their first 3D model in this game. I will say that I do wish that the summon rates were better for 5 star demons, especially newly added ones and ones featured during events and crossovers, but otherwise I absolutely love this game and I hope it continues to get updates and new features and improvements in foreseeable future.

This game is great, and I love it so far. The only thing that peeves me currently is that i can’t turn around in Aura Gate. Aside from that, great game.
Disappointing
I am a big fan of shin megami tensei games but this one is so boring; combat system is too repetitive, the “story” is almost absent. Also, what’s the point of having multiple characters in this game since there’s no team strategy? also it seems like one of those game that you need to pay your way up to the top.
Depends on what you are looking for
I’m going to try and write an honest review. There are good and bad things about this game. Pros: The game is beautiful. Great idea and very fun. A lot to do so it rarely gets boring. Cons: the game gives your virtually NOTHING to work with. Give me a free 10 summon or the option to get enough gems to summon a strong monster. The summon rates are putrid which is fine but at least give me a chance to summon without paying a crazy amount of money to get a good monster. Bad summon rates are only bad if you need to Whale the game just to be on par with the better players. For that reason alone is why I deleted it.
