Apparently can only get History Hits videos through this subscription. If you want podcasts I guess that is a different subscription. 😡
Mostly excellent
I think the only things that need to change are to make it clear whether the programme is visual, a podcast with a small image, or as you have already an oral programme. I get a bit fed up with going onto a programme that looks like it might be of interest to me, only to find it just someone sitting in the top right hand corner. Also could you have a setting whereby we can delete anything we no longer want to watch, rather than keeping it in the continue section. Apart from that, I’m finding it an excellent site with lots of content.
Fibs?
Poor Lucy. Her series is full of lies. She shouldn’t have done this to coincide with our 250th because we all have thoroughly learned our facts. Her own and her nation’s prejudice against America is unveiled!
Excellent content, but not user friendly.
The content is excellent and covers all periods. However, I find it fiddly to use. It is not immediately apparent how to switch between programmes and the podcasts cut out regularly in the car. Also, if you pause or stop a podcast and leave the app it doesn’t always go back to the same one.
A show for every era
Ancients, Gone medieval, Not just the Tudors, can’t get enough! Keep up the good work.
Useless
If I could access half the content it would be great. Can’t access website says have no subscription! Can only access the App. But that’s rubbish! I’m supposed to be able to access advert free podcasts! No links sent when requested. Or if links sent they are broken!
Worthwhile TV it's better than Pbs for the most part it is, but I still like my Pbs.

Great content, broken subscription
2 stars because the annual subscription fails to remove ads from all podcasts. Older episodes (2019-2023) still have commercial breaks despite paying for ad-free content. The History Hit team brings genuine expertise, PhDs, years of study, deep historical understanding. Historia magistra est. Fix the subscription issue and this is easily 5 stars.
Really good
It’s really good, although I’d enjoy a bit more content revolving around military history (specifically medieval). But hey who wouldn’t?
World history for dummies
The documentaries available to stream have opened my heart and mind to so much of the world’s history that I had never explored before. There’s unlimited history from every corner of the world. The hosts of the documentaries are incredible. An underrated feature I wished I had found earlier is all the History Hit podcasts. Almost all my podcasting is of one HH podcast or another but having them ad free along with all the documentaries is really cool. Dan Snow is my hero!
App stinks
Simply want to change credit card. They refer you to options that don’t exist
Variety and Quality
Love the variety of content and the quality of the videos and podcasts. Great hosts and guests. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the sound is inconsistent in some videos and I have to turn the volume up and down to hear what everyone is saying.

Great to have captions available now. The amount of content feels a little thin but more being added regularly - and the content is well produced and enjoyable 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Please please please remove the auto play though - every time you want to read about a piece of content, the content automatically plays. I have a very long list of partly watched videos 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

Gone Medieval
Please get rid of Janega; her personality is grating and her comments, though substantive, come off as unserious in terms of her weird American/French/mystery affected accent. Comments like “girl’s gotta get down” when discussing a serious female figure is jarring. She apparently thinks she’s cool with her diction; she’s not. Moreover , the shift to Eastern European topics feels like a bait and switch. This show was ONCE GREAT but NOW IS AWFUL!!!! I and my friends can’t make it completely through one of her podcast. Love all the other podcasts!

Podcasts do not work
I love the documentaries but the podcasts do not work. This needs to work or stop advertising it. It isn’t me. It is you. Plus folks shouldn’t have to log in again if they don’t get email to get it working, then go through the whole process again… for it to NOT work again.
More cinematic docs please
More ancient Egypt BEYOND king Tut. There WERE other pharaohs and queens. MORE ancient docs. The Medusa one was great. LESS podcasts and people sitting in a room talking having said that they are still pretty interesting Also there were OTHER monarchs than Henry the. 8th and Ann B. finally the app needs more work as far as navigation for example thr toggling on Apple TV is a mess. Same with the iPads where I usually watch it. New content is rare. More new stuff more often would be great

I don’t watch enough to justify another streaming service, but can’t cancel on the app and keep getting server errors no matter what browser or how clear my cache is.

Very educational learning new facts bout history better than you can get of random facts really good documentary’s
Podcasts
Wayyyyy too complicated to listen to podcasts through this app!!!! The topics for the videos are very interesting are too much like infotainment. I expected more in depth and weightier content. I don’t think I will renew. Great idea for anyone who hated history in school and now feels like getting a grasp on it.
Categories and subcategories, please!
I'm on my second, possibly third, subscription over more than a couple of years, now, and am again remembering why I keep unsubscribing: 1. Every video starts automatically when we have just clicked to see the description, which is an annoyance but not as fundamentally problematic as; 2. the Explore/browse functions are devoid of menus with categories and subcategories to allow us to make sense of our options. Sure, you present us with rows and rows of various compilations over which we have no choice, as Netflix and the others do, but yours seems to use an algorithm based on "just show all the things", rather than on any previous viewing. When the algorithms fail us on other streaming services, we can turn to menus based on categories, then subcategories that we can use to filter down what we want to watch. And there is so much I'd love to watch, but without an exact title to search, it's closed to me.
Accessible, thought-provoking content
I’m in awe of the consistently high quality of History Hit’s content. The presenters frequently draw parallels between the past and present, which is why I initially became interested in the subject. I particularly appreciate their citations of source material. Whenever possible, I read the books or visit the online archives to increase my knowledge of the topic. History Hit is a valued resource in my pursuit of lifelong learning.
Terrible app that just doesn’t sync between the Apple podcast app and the HH app.
The content is fab but seriously, someone needs to sort out the apps and how they link (or rather don’t). If I could give this app zero, I would. If I subscribe to the HH app, I get ads on the Apple podcast app. If I subscribe on the Apple podcast app, I can’t access the HH app as it tells me my Apple ID is not the same. I can’t restore purchases and can’t link my Apple ID to HH. Considering the level of technology in 2024, this set up is utterly rubbish and inefficient. Exasperating.
Great content hard to navigate
I love the content of history hit but the app is hard to navigate. Maybe a section to distinguish audio and video content, and better arrangement of the episodes.
Fussy access
Great content but the access for things like podcasts is fussy. Needlessly so. Also my email and password accesses the app but not the website. The link to reset my password doesn’t send an email either. I would expect better.
Such good topics and experts
So glad this steaming service exists! I wish I could get the app on my tv but current app mirrors just fine. Also please more shows than podcasts plz plz plz! every service is just turning into a video podcast site. I hope that doesn’t happen here too.

Future generations
As a family with deep rooted ancestry in Northern Europe and living in Australia. History hits has be an absolutely fabulous platform for our children to learn about their heritage and culture.
Good content, poor app
This is a review of the app rather than the service. I have had to constantly change the password, because each time I login it doesn’t recognise my last password. It then says it will send a link to change the password but it doesn’t appear. And no, it doesn’t go into my spam folder. They really need to fix this or I will have to stop subscribing.
History to Last
History has long been my favorite subject. History Hit allows me to listen or watch while doing daily tasks. What a gift!
Okay…..but
After just four weeks of a paid annual subscription, I began receiving adverts in the podcasts. Then I realised the subscription-only content was no longer available. The only way to contact Customer Support was via email but after nearly a week of slow exchanges I still haven’t resolved the issue and to this day I’m not sure what went wrong. I then contacted Apple and within 24 hours I was fully refunded. Overall, the podcasts are quite good but the customer support is very poor.
Excellent range of presenters, guests and content.
Love the range of topics and the very high quality of presenters and guests. I also appreciate the mix of audio (podcasts) and video material. A little more focus on the wider “modern” world - and I don’t necessarily mean the 20th century - outside Britain would be appealing. But everything produced is excellent. I especially enjoy Prof Lipscomb.

Every host is superb and authentic about their fields.
Will not work
Paid for this for a stay in hospital. It will not work on the hospital Wi-Fi even though all other apps do. Waste of money
Nice videos
Videos are easy to absorb. Presenters are knowledgeable. Brilliant content and descriptions across different period and aspects of topics. I hope more people would enjoy and appreciate this app.
Price Increase
History Hits offers a good range of topics and in-depth documentaries. But it is not worth the massive price increase. It’s not in the same price range as the main streaming apps, which it proposes to be.
Best programming
Keeps me entertained for hours. Also they have Dr Eleanor Jenaga who is amazing!!
Customer care?
Great content and variety so I chose to pay for a subscription. First off I was being charged twice which forced me to restart the subscription, now I can’t access any of the subscriber content and never received my links for the podcasts. Customer care is non existent and I’m left paying for a service I haven’t been able to access. Such a let down
Searching
Love the content of History Hit. Find the search function a little cumbersome. When I search “podcasts” I’m presented with a long list with no way of searching for what I want or am easy way of seeing what’s available or promoted. Other than that History Hit is brilliant
