Missed too many meetings
Overall, I use this for work, but it’s missed several teams calls not joining. Everything was set correctly. It just never logged onto the teams call the tab is blue supposed to join never joins or somehow it turns itself off, so you have to go back every week and turn on which ones you want on or not what’s the point I want all the meetings recorded

Needs work
This is not the transcription app for you if your meetings are heated and people are talking over each other or if anyone mumbles or speaks too fast, or has an accent. In the 56 meetings I recorded and used this app to transcribe, all but one had to be edited, line by line. However, compared to the other transcription apps I used, at least this one let me edit the speaker names and what they said.

This picks up every word, gives suggestions and everything, even in a noisy environment it picks up every thing. So far I am amazed by this app
Warning! Lost meeting minutes, no help
Do not rely on this app. It’s very glitchy and you’ll receive no help from customer service or Apple. I’ve lost so much time and none of my meetings were recorded.

Wow. This is how former kings fall
Otter was the king of AI transcribing before ChatGPT was a thing. The secret weapon. Then like many lazy kings they do things at 50%. Example: I had a dozen meetings last week so I paid the quite expensive monthly subscription cost. Now I need otter to do what every other AI platform can do today: go through each of those 12 meeting scripts and take notes for each meeting in the following ways: then I take the time and give the AI about two paragraphs of specific requests. Easy stuff like for each meeting use the contents to title the meeting in a more helpful way then the otter AI meeting titles. “Chuck” “Bob” should be “met with Bob to discuss sales trends over last two years”. Ok? And I include mention like use subtitles for “person speaking” and put what they say under their name per each convo. So what does dodo do? I mean otter. It just puts “person name” thirty times throughout the notes. Bro. Really? ChatGPT 3.5 turbo was great but 2023 is the past homie. Somebody at otter is pinching Pennies and thinking shortsighted when they should be claiming ground as king of kings using at least sonnet latest. Not running a home made LLM on a Mac Studio cluster to save money. Because no way bro. I am definitely finding a better transcription solution from here on out. For 20 bucks or whatever paid for this that’s a bad value these days and there’s even a limit to the number of minutes I have. Fight over crumbs and you’ll be fighting over crumbs for sure in five years when you’re down to the two original founders again running things. But hey. I’m just one guy. ✌️
Helpful app
This is a helpful app that records your conversations. I like the AI option where I can ask it…” did we talk about XYZ?” It would be great if the app filtered out non-pertinent information… Such a small talk. I would love to see in the future where I can copy and paste the summary.

Did not record the entire meeting
The only thing that was recorded was the salutation. Missing The entire meeting. It didn’t record anything at all.
Great app. Increasing cost
This app is excellent. I’ve been using it for meetings and taking personal notes and found it really handy. However finding that the cost seems to be increasing or the subscription seems to be more restrictive.
Underwhelming for a specialized tool
I’ve been paying for otter for around a year and a half. It’s hard to persuade myself to stay with it given the evolving options in the market. Transcription inaccuracies are surprisingly high, even after adding custom vocabulary . Sometimes when I go to copy transcript, I realize that a large section of the conversation just wasn’t recorded. Even when it does record everything, it takes too long to transcribe files, so when I get back from my morning walk where I dictate my action plan for the day, I still have to wait five or more minutes. Otter needs to be an obviously superior tool or it will lose out to Claude App, ClickUp Brain Max, or similar tools.
It is okay, but not the best
I work in the medical tech field and I used the app to take notes from interviews I had with physicians about their challenges with their current system. I found that the app’s summary of the meeting was very repetitive and not as detailed. A lot of the names of the systems that the provider mentioned were transcribed incorrectly, as well as some medical terminology. Also, important sections of the interviews were completely missed in the summary, there was a portion of the interview we spent a good 10 min discussing and the summary had no mention about this subject all.

It’s mid at best
Do you want an entire UI to have to interact with and learn. If so, this is your app. If you want simple and easy this isn’t great. There’s no way to edit audio lengths or transcripts at length so if the app picks up any other noise it’ll add it to the recording and transcription.
Note taking for a book
So easy to take my ideas and put them into a simple structure with this. To actually help me write the book that I have already wanted to write.
Copying the texts from here was a real hassle.
This is a great app and also useful. But the copying function didnt seem at all user friendly due to the way the UI is designed. The total experience was so hectic, for copying. Made me feel like an old boomer who doesnt know how to copy. Let me tell you, when i copy i just want it to be as simple as like default ios. Or what so ever. If i get to copy here there is always a pop up with the copy and what to do with the selected texts, these kinda options also it constantly swipes to left and right when you copy and if you miss somehow you will have to start from the top again no matter what section you are in.
Widget broken with Liquid Glass
Great app but I’ve been relying heavily on the Home Screen widget. Recently updated to iOS 26 and the widget appears broken now with the Liquid Glass feature.

So Sad
Paywalled out of seeing the last 19 minutes of an enthralling conversation because I didn’t press stop at the 89 minute mark to start a new one. My fault for being engaged in the conversation. It was a very unpleasant feeling seeing the message that Otter has it transcribed but if I don’t pay up to upgrade to Business from my 99.99/year Premium subscription, then I can get lost. Even funnier is how it promises 90 minutes, but I was cut off mid sentence 12 seconds before 89min. I want to be mad but am simply sad. Is this what they call late stage capitalism? Goodbye Otter and good riddance.
Good possibility
Otter seems like a good option. I have notused it much yet. I don’t like the way it opens immediately on my Mac when I choose the app. It’s not that easy to clear off so it feels pushy.
Just problems recently
I’ve used Otter for years. More recently I have been recording through the app because there aren’t enough uploads provided in the pro package. However, if I am without signal the recording doesn’t upload, doesn’t transcribe and I can’t access it. It takes a long time for client services to resolve and I end up wasting my allowance trying to transcribe it if I am somehow able to play it on my phone for the desktop app. This is not a real-time transcription issue: the recordings aren’t uploading or being transcribed and can’t be accessed.
90 min limit nightmare
An alarm to warn when the 90min limit is approaching would be useful! Otherwise it does a remarkable job of making sense of the gobbledegook.

Needs watch app
I love otter.ai but it needs a watch app badly. Pass the message to r&d and customer service teams that an apple watch addition is much needed so customers don’t have to switch to competitors like wave
Helpful, but not very precise
This is a helpful tool, but its precision when determining what’s being said and who’s saying it is quite poor. It’s not very good a tracking speakers or clearly outlining what’s being said when it’s summarising meetings. I wouldn’t pay £17 a month for it.
Not yet ready for prime time
It’s useful. But the quality of transcription is still not great. It’s good enough but if transcription is Otter’s bread and butter then I think I think they’ve good some investment to do. I am still going to keep my subscription because I am confident the transcription quality will improve over time.

I’ve tried a handful. This is the best.
Nonsense
This app was transcribing all sorts of nonsense in a meeting. Luckily I checked early on to make sure it was on and saw it otherwise I would have utterly screwed. I’d really appreciate my refund asap I’ve left the transcribing in the app if you don’t believe me. Absolutely rubbish
Great app missing languages
Live tha app and functionalities but likely will switch as it does not support native languages like Fireflies or other solutions
Non-existent customer support for paid clients
I’m a Pro (paid) user. I submitted 3 support requests over the past 3 weeks about upgrading several accounts for my work team, and have not received any response from customer support. This lack of customer support (for someone who was looking to purchase a product) is pretty remarkable.
Dealbreaker privacy policy
It works practically flawlessly. But if you read the Eula, Otter trains their tech with your voice recordings. As a creative, this jeopardises the confidentiality of my work. I prefer on-device alternatives which are, admittedly, leagues behind Otter’s transcribing performance, but also offer total privacy. In a perfect world, Apple Intelligence will someday match Otter’s level of live transcription and we can get all the goods, all the privacy and none of the exorbitant subscription fees to boot.
Simple to use, excellent results
Otter is my go-to for transcriptions. One tap right on the home page, and you’re transcribing. The app then offers numerous ways to export the data. I’ve used it for years, excellent app.
Fraud charges
I’ve been charged two times on two separate cards. Contacted this app twice on the contact form on the website and had no response. All subscriptions were cancelled. Developer asked me to send a request through a link - this has been done 3 times already.
Good but disappointing
I paid for the app only to discover I am limited to 1200 minutes a month. UNLESS I pay more to upgrade to 'business'. Considering the recent improvements to Voice Notes - I won't be renewing with Otter- Ai
Australian English
Having trouble getting it to transcribe in Australian English and AI insists it is already in Australian English but it is not.
It needs to build a headphone device urgently
Otter.ai doesn’t have the ability to record meetings with a headphone on, the speaker has to be blast out and recorded off record. Otterpilot that they have will attend meetings and record meetings but it will alert everybody that their call is recorded and will alert people on security issues. They need to build a headphones that integrates live recording like what HiDock H1 is doing!! If not i’m switching
By far the best transcript option
I’ve tried to use several of the services and all of them are complex and confused. Use different devices and don’t have as easy an interface as otter.ai I use this prompts that automatically populate with key stroke, actions that make more concise but list and found this two have been a miraculous improvement in my workflow
Terrible don’t buy
Bought a subscription and I’ve used to try and transcribe notes. Awful results and have had to manually record them onto my iPhone and use their note app to transcribe. Which is free and 20x better than Otter.

Play button doesn’t work
When trying to re-listen to a call, clicking on the transcript tab and pressing the play button does nothing on the iOS app, it works fine in the browser on my computer, but refuses to work in this app
For deaf
Otter is good but it is not suitable for deaf as they need unlimited minutes free of charge. Can consider that option please?
