What people like
- Great for planning trips and finding ideas.
- Self-guided tours are wonderful when they work.
- Simple design that is easy to use.
What they complain about
- Can't book campsites inside the app.
- App crashes or shows blank screens often.
- Maps and trails are missing or broken.
- Location feature blocks access to other info.
Idées de visites.
Ce site regorge d’idées de visites et de randonnées. Et le classement par région permet de se situer facilement. Merci à ces concepteurs !
Not functional on iPhone 12 mini
In the Location function, when choosing “Near me” or “Map”, a pop up in the app blocks access. The pop up is larger than the screen, so can’t be dismissed on an iPhone 12 mini running iOS 26.5. There is no X in the top right or left to close it and the text box is not scrollable, making the Location function inaccessible.
Camping reservations
Love the app and ability to research parcs. Would be wonderful to be able to search and make camping reservations in app.
Guided tour
The guided tour is really bad, clunky and not ready for prime time
Great App…When it works
When I can use this app, it is great. The self guided tours are wonderful. The problem is if you use the app, then attempt to use it again, all you get is a blank white screen and one word: loading. It goes on like that forever. Sometimes it takes until the next day before you can use the app again. I wish the self guided tours were available on the regular website, if this issue cannot be addressed.
Cool app
Can you make maps of the trails? For example, in Oakville, there is the sixteen mile trail. It would be nice if the different routes on the trail were mapped out. I would love to see all the Ontario trails mapped :)
Wanted to book camping
Why can’t you book camping sites for national parks with this app? Is this just purely an information app?
Optimize your app for display on iPhone X
Hi. Could you update your app to correctly display on the screen of the iPhone X ? There are ugly black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. You’ll need to do this update for the three new phones coming in September 2018 as well as the new upcoming iPad Pros. No more home buttons and no more bezels means adjusting the way apps will look with the increasing screen restate. Thanks.
Requires location sharing to see map
I can’t get over the location requirement to browse the map. Why should you need to know exactly where I am (down to neighborhood) in order to plan my trip in another province? Why would a public agency not allow us to just get information about our parks system that we have paid for? Could not get past this requirement to use any desired app features. Will eagerly re-review once fixed.
Please restore “save my trip” and offline mode
I had started using this app to save my upcoming trip to Western Canada. After the update my app data for the trip disappeared, I can’t favorite parks anymore, and I can’t save my trip offline. I like the content but it is a bit slow to load certain pages. It seems like this is now an app viewer for web content. My understanding is that some parks have limited cellular so having an organized trip with offline content would have been very useful. I will need to rely on ebooks and other apps now to reference my trip.
Good app
Now that the bug when viewing trails has been fixed, this app is really going to come in handy for our upcoming vacation.
Almost… :(
Every attempt takes me to a “Page Not Found” Error 404. Really want this app to work… I’m rooting for it but it’s crap currently.
Thanks for the iPhoneX fix!
Update solved the problem and now it is fully functional!
Travail de fonctionnaires
Difficile à naviguer, pas vraiment d’informations utile ergonomie catastrophiqueTout juste bon a remplacer une brochure papier. Très décevant.
Map inaccurate 06/08/21
You still need to update some of the pins on the map. Some are missing and last I checked “Beaver Pond” was not a National Park.
Great description of parks
Used this app during a trip to locate a park near me, it was awesome in describing the distance and the activities.
Pointless app
Useless app, that redirects you to the awful website. If only parks Canada’s site was like Québec’s SEPAC site.
App ne s’ouvre pas
J’ai installé l’application sur mon IPad .Toutefois, incapable de l’ouvrir, l’app se referme tout de suite.
Booking / Reservation
When can the app allow us to have the same capability as the website to reserve camp sites? Otherwise I don't find the app useful.
Great app for Canada 150
Kept it simple which makes it easy to use.
Bring back the trails map!
I used to use this app all the time to choose trails for our family while in various parks, as it used to be super easy and I could do it quickly. Now that that feature is gone, I can’t think of any other reason why I’d need the app, if all it’s ever going to do is take me to the website. Please bring the trails map back!!
Aren’t we Canadian?
If so, why is the official Canada Parks App, which I assume was commissioned by the Federal Government, using standard measurement units instead of metric...distance should be in KMs, not miles!! Please fix this as only the USA uses standard!!!
Small issue...
When Im trying to look at the trails, the app unexpectedly quits... Apart from that, good app for looking for a good camping site!
Great app for Canadians or people visting national parks
Love the app. It doens't try to do too much and it features key Parka (the mascot) content.
So much potential
Love the idea of this app and it is designed well however nothing actually works. So frustrating that filtering doesn’t work so you can’t narrow your searches. Too much for a phone screen to manoeuvre without filters.
No improvement
Useless waste of taxpayer money apparently an update to previous Parks Canada app, with no real improvements to usefulness, so reduced rating by one. Documentation on the parks is limited, a functioning search feature would be nice. Might be helpful to new campers, The only feature that is absolutely indispensable to this app is the names and number of parks themselves, and it has a woefully incomplete list. So, needs some improvements, but I'm sure they will be along soon.
Parks "Canada" made in USA?
Why are the distances in miles instead of km? You would think for a Parks "Canada" app it would be all Canadian. Not very Canadian if you. Happy 150 to us?
Great app from Parks Canada
Happy 150th birthday Canada! This app is awesome!
Poorly designed
Not a very intuitive app. I found it more confusing than helpful. It is better to go straight to the website.
Location problem
Why can't I change my location? All the travel distance is wrong because I'm from the west coast and it's measuring from the east. Great app otherwise.
Great app
Super cool look and great for planning trips. Thank you.
Very Basic
Expected something much better that we could book sites with.
Best parks app
Perfect for planning my trip to Canada this summer!
App pour cultivateur
Elle plante toujours!
Ne fonctionne toujours pas
Même avec la mise à jour ne fonctionne pas
