It’s a good game. Doesn’t revolve around ads. And it’s a game that takes a while to complete. Theres many chapters in the game.
Support sucks
I lost 200 lava stones and 2 forge buckets (among other things). The game freezes all the time and when it does even if I’m logged in it takes stuff from me all the time. I contacted support and after days of fighting they finally gave me back the forge buckets not the 200 lava stones after I already made them so now I spent all that time making more and now have 2 I can’t even use. It’s stupid. Plus you’ll have to watch videos everytime you collect anything you make after a certain level. You’ll also just be playing and random videos pop up. It’s really not worth it. I almost bought the bird and lemur cause they are helpful then all this mess started and I realized I’ll probably never play this game again after all this so I never purchased them. Good luck!
Fun but….
It is a fun game and I wish that there were better explanations of the puzzles but the one issue I am constantly having is with the crafting hut. Whenever I craft items, and I go to collect them, the game freezes and will not load my items. I have tried closing the game and reopening it, but nothing seems to work. Every once in a while I will get lucky and I can immediately collect my item.

Almost all of the things I “craft” I have to recraft because the game glitches and it deletes my progress/item. The goals are unclear, you need a cheat page in order to know what you’re even supposed to do. Pointless and annoying.

Edit: Been “playing” this for a while bc I don’t learn my lessons. One of the necessary challenges includes making 12 clay bricks, which take 2hrs 45 minutes to make each one. That’s 33 hours minimum for ONE CHALLENGE. But only 11 hours if you pay $20 for the other crafting slots ofc Ignoring the unskippable ads that pop up at random, it’s a pay to win. All crafts required for puzzles take anywhere from 45 minutes to 48 hours and you can only make one thing at a time despite puzzles needing 4-5 ingredients. You can, however, pay $9.99 for each extra slot. It’s a slog otherwise and is nothing like the games you grew up loving. Sucks

I liked the other games more. I wasn’t not a huge fan of the how you can upgrade villagers. Okay game but kind of felt different from previous ones
Still pretty buggy(update)
But I keep coming back. It’s still buggy lol but I recently got a second iPhone and transferred everything via iCloud, and some of my games didn’t lose any progress, but this one seems to have and I am unsure what to do. If you guys know pretty please tell me, and thank you for all the cool games over the years. You guys are awesome <3

Disappointed
I was getting along really well in the game I was playing in survival and regular, and I needed to switch phones so I hooked my account to Facebook so they’d link. From that point forward I could no longer open the app on the original phone or the new phone without it telling me there was a network failure and refused to load the game regardless of what I did. I cant access my game anymore. I don’t want to start over so now I just quit. I don’t want to play anymore
Fix UI space and size
Like the game but the UI is to close to the edge of my phone. I cannot read the text at the bottom of the screen.

I love this game and it requires time and patients. But I’ve recently had a big issue and they were able to resolve it immediately once I sent an email to their help support. They actually responded within record time and solved the issue in the blink of an eye. I love the work team that maintain this game and improve it for us the players.

Edit after response*** I say the push of microtransactions is one of the things killing this game and yall tell me to buy stuff within the game lol ok then. I just uninstalled it completely. I first started playing these games on my laptop in hs back in 2007 so I’ve enjoyed them for a long time. Never dealt with ads or anything like that and I know times change and when you get mobile games people are bound to throw ads in them especially if they’re free but this is just too much. Yall have ads that pop up and can’t be closed out of- either you have to close the entire game and restart it or you’re forced to interact with the ad so the little x appears. The ads and micro transaction push has killed this game.

I love this game, it is nostalgic for me because I’ve played virtual families and got my mom and older brother hooked on it for a while when I was yougg by er. I still play and would like more random events where I can pick a choice. It makes it more fun. Please update the game!!
bugs. not playable.
i can’t get past the crafting hut level. everytime i cut the tree root, my game doesn’t let me move my villagers around anymore. it’s stuck saving. i restart the game, i cut the root, same thing. i would like to be able to play after completing a level. thanks.

Game started out really cute, fun and interesting. Then suddenly I open the app to check on the ‘village people’ and there is little time to play~check up on everyone, as I’m being forced to watch ads literally every two minutes. I’m not sure what happened. If there is a fix for this problem please let me know. Other wise I have to delete this, I don’t have the time to sit through all these ads and try to play the game.
Screen
I can’t adjust the screen size in game settings so it will fit my phone screen. So anytime an ad pops up I have to restart the game.
Decent but takes too long to complete anything
Majority of the game is just waiting days to complete crafting items at the crafting hut to complete puzzles. Takes the fun out of completing puzzles. Anywhere between 4-48 hours to produce some items, and nothing else to do while waiting on those items to craft. One item can require crafting multiple items, taking days to complete. Way too long. Virtual villagers 6 fixed this problem and requires way less time to produce crafting items. I Would recommend shipping virtual villagers 2 and just play VV-6. The game also seems to have GLITCHES where I’ll take an item to complete a puzzle and then “network failure” happens and makes that item disappear after the game resets; meaning you have to spend another few days re-crafting the item you just lost. Kind of frustrating.

I’ve been playing these games for years but I don’t like that the full paid for version of this game has pop ups and you can’t play it off WiFi and then the game sound stops when an ad plays so I have to exit it and start again so then it’s a never ending loop of ads and having to exit again.
By far my favourite game of all time!
Love the puzzles and the villagers you look after, name, dress, reproduce. I love simulation games that you can look after things over time and create something of your own! I just really hope there’s going to be new updates of new places and worlds or even different versions of this game to create your own world with animals or something and more creatures or unique places! Love this game I hope there will be more added and things to do, I’ve downloaded this for the second time years later to do again because there’s no game like it!
Villagers aged to death in an hour?
I was playing and all of my villagers were in their 20s I closed the game went to bed and got on in the morning and it says all my villagers are dead and when I click on their dead bodies it’s up in the 170s for age I don’t understand how this would happen?

Glitching a lot
I’ve noticed a few glitches happening pretty often, first I go into the game as usual and it’s fine I exit the game and went back in and suddenly al my villagers are dead after I actually made a purchase of 3 villagers due to all my females being too old to have a baby and that was a waste since I went back in to them dead. Second while trying to decorate the tree I had the flowers on the braids but it wasn’t letting me put them on the tree (no longer have a chief due to reason 1 working on another) no biggie stopped playing to cook kids dinner sit down and go to check on my game and now the braids and the flower bush have disappeared and they aren’t on the tree! But the water well that I completed while waiting for my villager to master the last skill is still completed thankfully. So my whole point is if your game reloads or you exit out of it expect to have to redo something or have to start over cause of these glitches.
Absolutely love this game
Absolutely love playing this game but do get carried away and forget how long I’ve been playing and I love the fact u can earn rewards for watching ads as it at least gives you chance to get gems and technical points for those of us who can’t afford to spend money atm

I’m highly upset I’ve reached a point in the game where the crafting hut is built but I cannot move any villagers or anything! It’s very frustrating all I can do is replay the instructions but nothing else PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP!!!!!
Impossible to get Master Gatherer
I generally love virtual villagers and am overall happy with this game. Some of the bugs people have mentioned do apply such as the white bar over the action descriptions, but it's pretty easy to live with that imo. (I can see how itd be a turn off for most though). My biggest issue is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to 1) get a master gatherer, 2) get a master healer if you increase your medicine at all, and therefore 3) get a master in all skills. Would appreciate the opportunity to make gathering a focus or alternatively not a required skill for master of all. As i said though, pretty great game overall
Almost impossible to enjoy
I really enjoy this type of game and used to play the first virtual villagers a long time ago. Recently thought I’d try this one and it takes so incredibly long to craft things and to raise the required tech points. The extra crafting baskets cost a ridiculous amount of lava stones and it’s insulting that after grafting and waiting to complete puzzles, you win a whopping 3 lava stones per puzzle. Ads play even when you ask them not to. I basically sit with it on in the background watching constant videos in order to progress at all. I’m going to find a similar game that I can actually enjoy rather than ad after ad for not very much gain.
Too many bugs
Will be good game when the bugs are fixed. At the moment, too many bugs, ads, things can take 48 hours to craft which is fine if you’re patient, but I’m not. It’s the kind of game that if you only have 5 minutes a day, is perfect. (Or if you pay your way forward through the story). Will come back in a few months to see if things are fixed.

Great game but
It force quits every time I try to get the resources I craft when they are ready from the crafting hut. This is in normal and survival mode. I have tried uninstalling and installing again and force quitting it my side but nothing helps the glitch. Apart from that a very entertaining game; albeit a bit slow
Where’s the ending?
Started alright, but after doing the second chapter puzzles, there seems to be loads of things on the map that seem to have been stuff (a crater, the boulder, etc) but are unactionable. Beyond that, most of chapter 1 seemed to have a reason, while lots of the chater 2 puzzles seem pointless. Why do they need a reservoir? What does that do? And then there’s the “last puzzle” which is just “…” and I couldn’t find any info on that anywhere online. It’s also a bad idea to make a puzzle game and not provide an official walkthrough. Finally, to echo what others have said, the prices are extortionate. I would’ve spent a lot more money buying in game items if they seemed more reasonable.

Revoked Access To Progress and Purchases, Logged Out + Unretrieved, Lack of Accountability
I have been dealing with this since the end of January 2026 and it is now nearly a month later. I am writing this so other players understand exactly what can happen and avoid the extreme frustration this has caused me. I have been a long time player of LDW games. I played back when they had to be downloaded onto a desktop before they were available on mobile. I have never experienced anything like this, and after reaching no resolution, I highly doubt I will ever return to these games. I have purchased the Starter Pack three separate times over the past year. I also purchased the Lemur on three separate occasions. The third time, the game offered it to me for free because I had already purchased it. When I selected that option, the Lemur never appeared in my game. That is why I originally contacted support at the end of January. After multiple emails back and forth with Keegan from LDW Support, the Lemur was finally restored and I was given 900 Lavastones. Those 900 Lavastones were not random free currency. They were tied to the fact that I had already purchased the Starter Pack three times and the Lemur multiple times and had to repurchase content due to it not appearing correctly. After that resolution, everything was fine. I had 33 villagers, was near the end of Chapter 1, had all three Craft Hut slots unlocked, and about 250 Lavastones remaining. To be clear, the second Craft Hut slot cost 300 Lavastones, and I paid for those Lavastones with my own money. The third slot cost 600 Lavastones, and I unlocked it using part of the 900 Lavastones provided after the first issue was resolved. I still had around 250 Lavastones left. Then on January 28, I opened Virtual Villagers 6. Immediately after, I was logged out of Virtual Villagers Origins 2. When I went back in, my village was completely overwritten and irretrievable. My 33 villagers, my progress, my Craft Hut upgrades, and my remaining Lavastones were gone. That same day I emailed support explaining that tapping “Sign in with Apple” did nothing and that there was no option to import my saved progress. I was repeatedly told to choose “Import progress from your Apple account.” That option never appeared. I deleted and reinstalled the app, followed every instruction, and reset settings exactly as directed. Nothing changed. I sent multiple screen recordings clearly showing there was no import prompt. Later, I was told attachments could not be opened for security reasons, despite Keegan previously referring to those same videos. Throughout this process, Keegan blamed this on “user error.” He questioned whether I followed instructions even after I provided recordings. I was told it was an Apple security issue and directed to contact Apple. Apple informed me they have no control over third-party apps and sent me back to the developer. When I provided that transcript, I was told it also could not be reviewed due to security issues. I even sent a screenshot of another App Store review under this exact game from June 4th by Shelby Shelbs describing the same thing happening after logging into Virtual Villagers 6 and being logged out of Origins 2. This is not isolated. Yet Keegan claimed I am the only person experiencing this. Eventually I was told my old save was overwritten and could not be recovered. I was told durable purchases like the Lemur would return, but anything purchased using Lavastones was gone because Lavastones are “consumable.” Yes, the Lemur reappeared. The second and third Craft Hut slots did not. The 250 Lavastones did not. I was told I am not entitled to have anything restored that was purchased with Lavastones. Keegan even stated I was not entitled to the 900 Lavastones initially provided, which raises the question of why they were sent at all if they could effectively be erased by being forcibly logged out for simply opening another LDW game with my Apple ID. This has been nearly a month of emails, being told it is user error or an Apple issue, and providing proof only to be dismissed. I am waiting for this to be escalated, but I have little hope. I also appear to be unable to log into the LDW website after submitting another ticket, as password resets never arrive despite trying multiple devices and networks. So I am guessing they revoked access from there as well. Imagine going from a long-time avid supporter for over a decade, to being treated and dismissed in such a way/ Until this is resolved, I will not be playing any LDW games. I will continue sharing this experience so other players understand that permanent upgrades unlocked with in-game currency can disappear if a save is overwritten and support may deny responsibility. I genuinely loved these games. That has completely changed. This game has caused me more stress than ANY other game I’ve played EVER, and it is not because of the challenging gameplay. It is due to being ran through the wringer, lied to, blamed, and dismissed. DO BETTER LDW AND KEEGAN.
Crashing during crafting :(
Love this game but the app keeps crashing as soon as I go to collect the items made in the crafting hut. The items are then gone and the products Ive used to create them are also gone. This is a little frustrating and I’d love feedback to try and fix this issue :)
Once Fun Now Commercial Central
Used to be a fun and addictive game. Now game has too many ads and pop-ups. Also, the game has become more challenging to complete and not in a good way. It’s obvious that you must spend money in order to advance or you’ll be waiting a lifetime to complete the old-fashioned way. It’s almost crazy to think this use to be a free & fun PC game. Don’t be fooled, the first few plays there’s little to no ads and once you reach a certain milestone or time played the ads are super frequent. Profiting off of nostalgia SMH
Fun game but some fixes needed
I own this game in x box. I enjoy playing but the iPhone version set up does not let me see the bottom line information that relates to the action happening. The fix is needed. Please advise if there already is one.

Wanted to love this but…
Sadly, it’s nearly unplayable on iPhone 17. Most of the things you need to tap on are so far on the edges of the screen they are unresponsive when you tap them. I couldn’t figure out how to pause the game. I’m really bummed.

Not bad version. Having a little trouble with the crafting. Knowing that 2 items combine and when it’s mixing for 8 hours to then just disappear..? No outcome and no resource left, slightly annoying

So you can’t see any of the writing of what they are doing because the home bar is in the way of all of it and you can’t take the home bar away, on iPhone please fix that it don’t make sense if you can’t see parts of the game you need to be able to read and you can not it’s really not helpful just started playing and have no idea on what’s going on
