Very useful.
The best application I've ever used. Very useful.
Frustrating
I have been using this app for my kiddo's daycare but it is really not very well maintained, there has been multiple times the app stoped functioning, the latest is that it takes me 3 tries to sign into the app to check in on my kid. It is slow and generally frustrating to work with compared to other apps I have used.
Does the job.
I enjoy this app, despite the occasional bug. Our daycare has trialed two other similar apps and this has worked for the best for us. I dislike that it is not supported by Apple Watch. Extremely convenient if it could so I wouldn’t have to carry my phone for an emergency notification.
Videos won’t play in iOS app
Audio works, but not video
Notification
Notifications have no sounds and badges
Good for busy people
I’m very busy but I can see my children at my workplace thanks to Kindertales. Many thanks to kindertales.
Need actual “hands free” sign in and biometrics don’t work
We are having to sign in using the “hands free” option but in reality it not hands free at all, as we have to scan a QR code that’s on our phone on the iPad at the school and then complete a few questions on the school iPad. The parent portal should have a QR scanner to scan a QR code on the iPads app, to sign in via our own cellular devices. On top of that it seems that every time I go to sign in, my Face ID isn’t working. And it makes me manually sign in with a user name and password every time.
Pretty good
Works pretty well and a nice way to keep up to date with the daily happenings at the daycare. Would be nice if there was a photo/media view where you can see all the photos and save them.
“Working on updates” for 3 years now.
The very core basics seem to work. I can add my credit and pay. The lack of Apple Pay is unfortunate, but it doesn’t affect my rating. After 3 years, I still can’t see my transaction history. They’ve been “adding new features as fast as possible” since we started using the app almost 3 years ago. My son is going to be out of daycare before any actual updates happen.
Video downloads not working
Video downloads don’t work anymore…
Love it
I’m regret not downloading this app earlier. How amazing it is!
Doesn’t work
Our daycare switched over to this app after 6 years of using a different one (that we never had problems with). We’ve had this app for 6+ months now and is terrible. Would not recommend. Some days I have to log in multiple times a day and other times I cannot click on features within the app. I even directly reached out to Kindertales and told them the countless problems me and me and every other parent I’ve talked to has. They told me I needed to adjust my settings and update my app. Things I’ve already done and check regularly. The problem is not me and the other parents the problem is the app. It’s like I’m trying to use an app built in 2005 and they refuse to update. DO NOT RECOMMEND
Great app
Just wish the photos posted would be higher quality with the ability to save them directly and added compatibility with Face ID unlock. Edit: I figured out how to view the higher quality pictures, still wish I could download directly, though.
Needs Work
Coming from using a different app (brightwheel), this app leaves much to be desired. That said, some relatively simple key improvements would bring up the functionality of this app from abhorrent to good enough 1. It would be so nice to stay logged in. It feels like the app is safety theater since if someone is already logged into my phone, they will likely be able to fill passwords from the keychain anyways 2. Notifications have options for text and email but not for app notifications. If this could be fixed, I’d be able to see the updates I actually care about and not go the whole day without updates since there is no point in my repeatedly logging in (point 1) for a high chance of no updates I’d say more but I can’t navigate through the app for a full critique since the last update blocked most of the existing functionality by introducing new bugs by making the navigation menu inaccessible
Just ok
I’m really glad to have the app to be able to check in on my child at daycare, but there is some stuff that is lacking. The app is not optimized for iPhone XS, and doesn’t support special characters so my name is all messed up (gimme that é!). The staff at the daycare also lack options to customize the amount of water that has been consumed or edit how much food my child has had. He most definitely did not eat the whole snack, but that’s their only option if he’s had more than a bit it sounds like. More options/customization would make their life easier and would be more accurate for parents as well.
Good
My son used to regularly cut his class until I install Kindertales. This app is very beneficial for parents like me to keep your children well behave.
Frustrating update
For starters, accessing documents to print from my child’s daycare is a PITA. It requires visiting the website via desktop to even view the documents. Even in my mobile browsers “view desktop page” mode, it will not allow you to view tax document information. More so, my wife and I share the same account for our child. When either of us signs in to check updates, it constantly requires entering the username and password to log into the app..Every…Single…Time, whether my phone or hers. At one point, it required resetting the password.
Need major changes
The pictures are the worst, you don’t see the whole thing unless you click into it. In order to see the next one you have to get out and go back in. Notifications don’t say what they are, so you have to search for something that might be new, making it really easy to miss messages until we figured that out. Messages don’t show the whole thread, you have to go back and forth between inbox and sent to see the whole thing. And my husband and I have to use the same login, so sending messages looks like it’s all from the same person. Also just general slowness with the sign in and out process.
Hopefully this app can safe the photos
This app looks pretty good. However, we hope it has a function to save photos. Please consider it for next update version.
Wow. Awesome tool
I love it. I relieved seeing my young children all day. I’m very busy and don’t have enough time stay with them, so Kindertales is very beneficial to me 85. Thanks // Thanks to Kindertales I can watch my son all day and make sure that he don’t cut his class
New update is horrible!
Why did you get rid of biometric sign in? Now I need to manually type in a 12 character update every time I want to view a classroom update. You don’t even have password saving. So annoying! Brightwheel has it all over you guys.
Super Buggy and Not Intuitive😏
This is the 6th childcare reporting app I’ve used, and by far the worst. There are so many functions/features that do not work unless I close the app entirely and re-open. Not a huge effort, just an annoyance that should be an easy fix for development, but for some reason is still a problem in 2025?? While the menus are very listed and viable, doesn’t always seem like the most intuitive flow (ex., I have to click in to each posted picture/video to save, rather than just being able to save a set from my feed; not all email notifications work, when all email notifications are selected; I get an email stating I have a new message, however not always able to see the message directly from my email, rather have to access via the app; etc…I could go-on). Overall just doesn’t feel like development understands their target audience, but rather feels like the least expensive option for an already inflated priced industry.
A useful tool for busy people
I’m too busy working, thus, lacking time taking care of my children. Fortunately, I found this app and be able to watch my kids all day now
Garbage
Whatever the latest update did already made a useless app even more useless. At least before I was able to navigate and had biometric sign in.
Lack of Options and abilities
I have a love/hate relationship with this app and the overall setup. As someone who as multiple children I hate that I can’t do anything with their profiles in an easy manner. The app does not feel user friendly. It’s nice having the updates. But to not be able to access the more crucial parts of it, like BILLING. Is super frustrating when I do not have constant access to a desktop. And the fact that it will not let you login and do anything through the mobile desktop is a massive irritant as well. The layout is not the best. I don’t like how everything is grouped together the way it is. Or when I click on photos and videos I can’t scroll through them. I have to close the one, scroll to the next and tap on it to view the whole photo/video.
Good
It’s good to see such an awesome app. It’ll have tremendously positive effecs on our children’s development.
Update killed app
This app was working perfectly fine until two days ago; the update destroyed the functionality of the app, for not just myself but several other hundred parents who use it. Please get this fixed.
A buggy mess lacking convenience features
This app seems to not refresh, and instead requires you to force close and sign back in to get updates, especially when it’s the next day. Posted photos have to be swiped and then tapped on to view, when instead they should be able to be swiped while viewing full screen. The left slide-out drawer has an odd interaction area and requires you to swipe it away in a very specific area. I’m sure there are other issues, but the lack of polish makes me not want to dig further. Overall, the app needs massive quality of life improvements, and from a usability perspective, this is a pretty steep downgrade from the app our center was using before this one.
Great job
My son used to be bullied in his class, so I use Kindertales to watch him everyday. Since I used it, I’m relieved my son are safe and well treated.
Yuck
Having used another app before this one, this one stinks! It is so hard to stay logged in, have had to reset my password more than several times since starting to use it just a few months ago. And the updates are horrible. Messages come through strangely. Sending messages to teachers is awful - my husband and I can’t see each other’s messages. And billing is horrible.
The App consistently locks parent out
For almost every updates from my child’s school, I have to log in over and over again even after updating the app. I think this should be looked into such that I should be able to view at a glance.
Watching children 24/24
By using this app, I can see my son 24/24 and make sure he’s well behaved.
Awful user experience
This app makes me want to switch out of my current daycare. Awful experience across the board.
Blank spaces
I have been using the app for more than half a year. I always keep it updated so as not to miss anything. I am set up to receive email notifications and notifications on my phone when there are updates to review. Most times, when I click the phone notification, it takes me to the page and nothing is there! Nothing in the newsfeed. Nothing in my messages. The pages are blank! No amount of refreshing helps. I then have to login on my computer to view the message or photo. Some days it’s fine and works as expected. Other days, it’s just all blank.
A useful assisstant
Young children are so fragile, so I want to keep them in my sight all the time to make sure they are safe. And I found Kindertales on Appstore, this is an app for me, highly appreciate.
Horrible app
This is seriously one of the most inefficient and inconvenient apps I’ve ever been forced to use. My child’s daycare switched from brightwheel to this app when they were bought over and it’s been one of the biggest strains in our relationship with the daycare because it is basically dismantled communication. We can no longer make our payments on the app. I have to go on a desktop now. I’m constantly being locked out of the account and having to update my password. There is a constant lag on notifications and postings between the app and my push notifications. I had payments charged without my consent, even though I did not enroll in auto pay. It’s a shame we couldn’t stick with Brightwheel when it worked so smoothly. It feels like we downgraded from Apple to Windows 1997.
Nice but needs some tweaking
First impression is that the app looks nice. I like the news feed and seeing the pictures the teacher uploads, but you can not save the pictures or change orientation to landscape. Going to activities there is nothing showing. I would imagine that would be way to much work for the teacher to have to do on top what they are already doing unless there was just some easy way for the teacher to log those tasks. I would imagine they would need a dedicated tablet on the wall (mounted high enough so the kids don’t touch) and displays a grid with the names and activities so they could easily just tap it to keep track. Reading messages is very cumbersome. You have to scroll left, right and up and down. Can not zoom out to see the whole message. Font is large so there is room to zoom out. Feels like it is a pdf but won’t scale right. Probably not going to use the app. Will check back in if it gets better or useful
