What people like
- Clean interface with no clutter or ads
- You can pick your own weather sources
- Very affordable yearly premium subscription price
- Design looks stunning and beautiful on screen
What they complain about
- App rarely refreshes without force closing
- Radar loads slowly and lacks location dot
- iPad version ignores landscape orientation completely
- Temperature data sometimes shows wrong numbers
Informative, elegant, data-driven
From a purely visual and design standpoint, this weather app remains nearly unparalleled among the over dozen I have tried over the past 16 years. Add on top of that the numerous varied government and non-government forecast sources, some customizability, and a near complete database of the world‘s postal codes for local and hyper local forecasts, and this app remains among the top 3 I have ever used, surpassed only by CARROT and possibly Hello Weather, depending on your particular needs. Finally, when it comes to bang for your buck for premium, this app is the clear winner, with even its new higher USA price of $2.99+tax a year (no, not monthly, YEARLY) an absolute STEAL compared to the aforementioned apps and others as well.
Beautiful BUT Geo stupid
Geo locations are suddenly screwed up, BUT only this app. My others are super accurate. And customer service? 😴😴
Almost perfect
I love this weather app and interface! Worth it to pay to get rid of ads. However, the radar is horrible because it won’t show your current location dot. The android app does! Please update!!
Wrong a lot lately
Showing full sun symbol and 50% rain for today’s forecast. Reality is all clouds today. Also the predicted high temp has been inflated by 5 degrees much of the time lately. Setting you up with false hope the day before.
Needs some fixes
It shows time from the wrong time zone. A phone in MST shows time in EST. Data sources seem to be broken, API hooks are probably desperately needing an update. Weather.gov updates are only every 6 hours. No way to manually refresh updates other than switching data sources.
very nice app
love the app
I paid and now they want me to pay again
I had paid for lifetime some time ago and now I am seeing ads and apparently need to pay again. Highly disappointed
Widget
Please add lock screen “feels like” widget
Loved it until it stopped updating
Stuck on four days stuck and counting. Miss Dark Skies more with every passing day. I would pay for a reliable replacement, and had great hopes for this app. Will be watching closely to see if developers respond.
Won’t refresh
It would be good app except it won’t refresh when opened after some time again. Is it only free versions bug? I’d buy it if it is fixed in paid version
Always Improving
Great layout. Let’s you pick your sources and always accurate. They listen to feedback. Wish the buttons were placed at the bottom of the screen like a taskbar and the search/+ button was hovering in the bottom right corner above the taskbar
Where do the widget go?
The widget was blank today. I deleted it and went to re-add it and it’s no longer an option. Super disappointing.
Good solid app but some issues
Edit 12/17/24 - The app was updated at some point so that it usually automatically refreshes the day and time when the app is opened, however the location for the automatically detected location does not automatically update. You need to force close the app for the automatic location to detect changes in your location. Original review: I like this app a lot for the relative accuracy, clean look, features (including being able to pick the source for your weather data), and low cost to remove ads (I paid $4). However, the app doesn’t always refresh unless you force-close it, and lately sometimes even that won’t get it to refresh. As I write this, it’s past midnight, and no matter how many times I close the app it still shows me the weather for 6pm. Also, the moon phase for the current day is accurate, but for some reason it gives the wrong days for the next two phases. And the radar is only so-so.
Nothing like android app on iOS
Chose this app on the recommendation and function on a family members android device. Complete disappointment on iPhone. Radar map doesn’t show your pinpoint and just seems dumbed down to me.
Radar is slow to load
Radar is slow to load and there is no marker for your current location.
Minimal beauty
Still my favorite app aesthetically after years of use. I wish more UIs were this concise, clean, and clear of clutter while also allowing configuration on top!
Broken! 0F issue
Had been a great app over the last year or so without DarkSky. Now over the last week, ALL of my locations show the current temperature as “0 F” (no degrees symbol available on review page). When in reality it should read anywhere from 50-80 F App simply doesn’t work and I’ve gone back to Apple Weather as a result.
Not 100% accurate
It gets the weather wrong sometimes, but do get it right most of the time. The hourly weather icon and text are too small on iPad Pro 12.9, you have to look closely to tell the difference between cloudy and rainy. Where should this app improve: - Add support for iPad landscape mode - Optimize the iPadOS UI, now it’s more like a stretched-out iPhone version. - Weather background for Widget, like Yahoo Weather
So much potential
So much potential if this app was just maintained. The app doesn’t refresh properly (if you don’t force close it doesn’t update the temp/hours/etc if you look at it later). Also, currently the “current temperature” shows 5 degrees lower than the daily low, but in the hourly graph it shows the appropriate temp.
No pollen count
The android version has a pollen count but iOS doesn't. Please correct the description on the app store.
Awesome App..!
Thank you for your time in creating this Fabulous Weather app...
App not updating
Like the app overall, but within the last 2 weeks the temp is not updating, it show “0” across all data fields. Please update your code asap!!!
Changed the widget
Some api stop working and you have to change service which is fine, some weather services are better then others. The widget changed after an update, looks very stock. I liked the black theme better. Looks broken now, maybe has to do with the gov update.
It’s just ok
It’s an ok app, but not a total replacement for Dark Sky that it needed to be a year after use. Out still lacks many features that I’d hope would be in one main app by now.
Not good
My other weather forecasts say it’s colder And this one always puts 5 degrees higher than all my other ones NOT ACCURATE
Good weather app
Good app.. many options to choose from and it’s s an easy app to use. Been using it for a few years now.
Slow to load
Very slow to load especially the radar. Doesn't even open to my correct location.
Will Be 5 Stars With a Small Change
There needs to be a pull-down-to-refresh option. I always have to force close the app to get the current weather, the update every 30 minutes doesn’t seem to work well at all. If this change was implemented, easily a full 5 stars.
Looks great, but…
App doesn’t refresh, which makes it useless. Bummer.
Great app but cannot rotate to landscape in iPad
Have paid membership and very happy with iPhone app, but the IPad app does not allow for landscape mode which is how I use my IPad (with magic keyboard, etc)..
Most accurate weather app ever!
This app is stunningly beautiful and stunningly accurate! I have removed all other weather apps from my mobile phones and iPad. It is the perfect app. And the app I would have created - if I had created a weather app. I am so grateful that the exhaustive search for an accurate weather app finally now over.
Not nearly as good as the Android version
I had an Android phone and this app was great. It had over 20 data sources and would refresh by pulling down. This iOS version only has about 10 data sources, lacking my favorite, and won’t refresh by pulling down. I bought it based on how good the Android version was and I regret it. Please make it as good as the Android version by adding all the data sources and adding the ability to refresh by pulling down.
Love the app
Two things I think it needs though. First the ability to pull down to refresh because it doesn’t auto update sometimes. Lastly the radar definitely isn’t the best, hopefully over time it can be better. One last thing, please have if you tap near the top or the time it brings you to the top
Nice layout, but app won’t refresh
I gave this app a 2 star review because I like the layout of the weather info, and the weather info it provides. Unfortunately the app usually refuses to refresh when I open it. This makes the app unusable. Hopefully the developer will fix.
Almost awesome
I love the appearance of the app, and being able to choose different data sources is a major plus. The app falls short in 2 places: currently, you have to restart the app to refresh the weather data for the current date, and family sharing doesn’t seem to work if you buy the “Forever” option.
Just Awesome!
Love the layout of this app. It’s accurate and easy to navigate.
Needs Work!!!
The refresh issue has been adequately addressed in other reviews & is a real issue for me. But what is up with the moon phase feature? Today (4/16) it correctly shows a waning crescent. However, it then shows a full moon tomorrow & a new moon two days after that! Ummm….not happening from my perspective on Earth.
I wish it would use Landscape mode in the iPad
I only use the iPad in landscape mode. Please fix.
Pull down to refresh?
Nope it’s interval so if you don’t set it to refresh more frequently you could be looking at the weather an hour ago. Where I’m living an hour can mean 10 degree difference. Today it was a 5 degree difference. Pull down to refresh would be nice. Also horizontal scroll for temp hourly is very bad on another device! The slightest upward motion will cancel the horizontal motion in favor of upward. They should just code that part out. Devs are also very unresponsive for issues and honestly I don’t recommend this on any device/platform.
Beautiful app...
And a very accurate one. But please fix the updating issues (I have to close the app and restart it for current temperature to update) and fix the constant disappearing of the bar graphs in the daily view.
Thank you
Thank you for fixing the bugs. Works much better. Gave you a five star. Have been using this app for many years. Most accurate forecast for weather in my location.
Don’t Bother
This app was great sometime ago and now it’s crap!! Have to purchase this app, no thanks!
Just wish it would auto-rotate
I prefer landscape for my ipad and it is the only app that I have that cannot accommodate that. Otherwise, it checks all of the boxes for me: it is accurate, informative, easy to navigate, has multiple sources you can choose from for the data and the graphic design is elegant.
I thought I found a better weather app without advertisements. Wrong!
This weather app is better than many, but today I found out that the temperature it was showing was 7° off. Today Weather showed 88°, my car thermometer showed 83° and weather.com showed 81°. I clicked on the app and found out that I was in the “off-line mode.“ Why is there an off-line mode? That’s ridiculous and stupid. There should be one mode, which updates every 10 minutes, or less. The shortest this updates is every 30 minutes for some reason. When I clicked on the little gear in the upper right hand corner, it showed the correct weather of 81°. Why don’t they just show this to begin with? Unbelievable!
Missing iPad optimisation
Loving this app’s interface, but the iPad optimisation is not great - if you can add support for horizontal rotation and Split View I’ll be a happy man.
slow
very slooooow refreshing on iOS,version on my android device is not slow at all
Too many issues
App does not work in landscape mode on iPad. It loads weather data slower than Apple’s app.
Where is the pollen count?
Love the app, but while I got the pollen count on my old Android phone, I don’t on my iPhone
Beautiful. Doesn’t refresh well
Looks good. Decent data sourcing. Horrible app refresh capability.
Oh dear, a subscription app
I liked the look and functionality of this app, and may well ave bought it for under a fiver. But I am not interested in renting software at any price. Deleted. Nic
