- Rest timer stops in background.
The best, definitely the best fitness tracker
I used this app for many many years. It’s doing exactly what you are expecting from a fitness tracking app. Tracks your progress. Shows 1 RM max. Has pause timer. Workouts. All you need. No cloud login or any Bull.. needed. Great app. This one I will really miss on Android
Difficult to use
Poor interface. Definitely not worth $20. Immediate delete.
Session Handling
I’ve been using this app for years, and it’s easily my favourite workout tracker. It’s clean, easy to use, and has everything I need to log my workouts. It’s one of the few fitness apps I’ve never felt the need to replace. The only issue I’ve noticed is that workout sessions can behave inconsistently. Sometimes, if I switch to another app during a workout, the app ends the session in the background and saves it before I’m finished. Other times, if I accidentally leave a workout open and don’t come back for days, the session is still running when I reopen the app. I’d love to see more consistent session handling because it would make the experience even better. Other than that, it’s a fantastic app that I highly recommend.
Volume progression graph malfunctioning
The bones of a great app, took a while to get used to but once I did it was straight forward to does almost everything I need. Just one problem. The progress graph it generates based on my workouts does not work correctly. For example the values on the axis don’t match the data point values, for example a 8,000kg volume workout is showing above a “10” on the vertical axis and perhaps most frustratingly of all, my workouts for a number of weeks of increasing volume are not showing an increasing trend line, despite when clicking on the data points you can see the volumes are actually correct. I.e workout 1 is 7,000kg and workout 2 is 10,000kg volume yet on the graph workout 2 data point is lower Pretty much renders the app pretty useless for me. It seemed to glitch out at some point because it didn’t always do this. Anyway regret spending the money on it. I requested support and got no answer.
Great app but a few bugs and not sure it is supported anymore
Love the import txt file feature. Wish it was able to import exercises and amend the exercise settings via import. Having issues with the body weight automatically updating and applying to exercises. Hasn’t been updated in a year.
Best value in the App Store!
I’ve tried over 10 different lifting apps and this is by far the best that you can get out of a free app. I went ahead and paid for the lifetime option which is also the best value compared to everything I’ve tried.
Outdated
App hasn’t had an update in over two years and now does not function as it used to. This app used to be the best thing but now keeps closing, resetting and restarting in the middle of a workout. I’ve contacted the developer several times with zero response or feedback. At this point, I wouldn’t recommend paying for the upgrade.
Still one of the best
This is still one of the most feature rich apps for serious lifters, even with lack of update support over the years. There’s plenty of ways to modify your splits that other apps are simply lacking, and you can customize individual exercises such as unilateral counts, syncing BW for calisthenics, etc. If you don’t care about social media or apple watch integration, this is as good as it gets. I hope the devs haven’t completely forgotten about this app.
When did they start charging?
I’ve been using this app for years. I took time off for a shoulder replacement and now I have to buy it to use for more than 2 workouts?
Open, select workout, crashes.
Used this for 5 years, just crashed when I open now
Great app
Great app to create a good routine that breaks up muscle types
Stopped Working
I made the mistake of upgrading to version 2025.1 and now the app doesn’t work. And the support page link goes to the wrong page so I can’t reach out to the developer. Hoping this review will encourage the developer to reach out or fix the app.
Promising!
I really like this app. It has a lot of useful features in it that make my gym workouts more organized and gives me more focus in my sessions. I feel it could use some refinement to make things more simple to use. It can get a little confusing at times, but it’s not already so complicated that it’s unusable, just feedback for the future to the developer. Would be awesome to sort exercises based on volume group, or even add mobility/warmup/cooldown/stretch exercises to it. Overall it’s solid, and i’m looking forward to future updates.
No support & missing subscription
I used to love this app and I still use it occasionally, however somehow it got rid of my lifetime subscription that I purchased. I tried restoring it but the app says it can not find a subscription to restore. I’ve tried reaching out to the support multiple times to clear this issue up and I have gotten no response which is extremely frustrating. If I could get a response & get this resolved, I’d highly recommend this app because it’s an easy/intuitive way to track your lifts.
Great app but would love Apple Watch compatibilty
Loved using this app. Recently got an Apple Watch and wish I could use this on my wrist. Will look elsewhere for the time being.
Best Gym Tracker on the Planet
Everything I need to do this app has me covered. Very intuitive.
New update stops musics
Hey team, love the app. But somehow my music stops now, whenever I hit “Log”. Can you fix that please? 5 stars afterward
Great user interface for performing routines and hugely customisable
Some help for newbies without loosing customisation would be great. Also, when adding exercise, adding a links field accessible in the routines which use it would be amazing. I wanted to add links to YouTube videos on how to perform them. Also, you should shout about giving your routine import syntax to chat gpt ect, he had already built my routine so giving him your syntax made it easy to import ai created routines into your app. A huge selling point.
Awful and useless
App doesn’t even allow you to type each sets rep count, just allows you to put a minimum and max rep count for 1 set total No Iwatch app Clunky, not intuitive UI Expensive for what you’re getting
Almost there
I like the app overall. I think it does a better job of tracking long-term progress visually than the Strong app. However, I would like an update to remove the time limit while the app runs. During a set, the screen locks. There is an option to remove this during the timer but not during a set. It is not convenient to unlock the screen every time I am doing a new set.
Amazing
Amazing app love it. It would be even better if there is a version available for my Apple Watch.
App is getting worse
They got rid of the import feature
One of the better trackers
For me this is a mostly positive review. The app itself is great. It does what most others do, all be it a bit differently, and has some extra features that are welcomed such as rep AND set ranges. I can tell the history will be vast and useful and I like how easy it is to get to. And the cost is affordable. I do however have some reservations, the creator does not respond to questions or bug reports, I had a few issues and received nothing back at all. The app also has not been updated for over a year. These together give me pause in terms of paying for the pro version. Which is a shame. I do think that long term this could be one of the more useful resources
Crashes after long time use
I like the app a lot, and have used it for all my workouts for over a year. After long time use the app started to become unstable. Crashed every now and then. Now it’s reaches a state where it crashes at startup all the time... Be sure to export your data often! Now all my progress history is lost...
Ok app
Let’s you create custom exercises. I’m an advanced exerciser so I don’t need advice or fancy videos within the app. However I find the app is pretty basic when it comes to giving you stats for your previous workouts, PB’s etc. The major advantage of an app over pen and pad is when the app provides statistics regarding weight lifted, frequency etc and compares values with your last workout. This is an area where the app struggles/fails. For £12.99 it’s pretty basic.
Best workout app
For the ultimate trainer: Allows for custom workout design, easy to use interface and resilient (no crashes). Can’t recommend enough for those who want to track workouts with no thrills/useless bells and whistles.
First impressions
I gave it about 3 mins when I realized it’s a shell designed for you to buy and nothing else
Heavy Set
Only complaint is I can only see how well my final progress is after the workouts are complete. I’d like to see sets, weight, and reps from previous workouts right along side the total volumes. As it is I have to finish the work out and go to the history to see one session against the last.
Mr
The app itself is okay. But the battery usage is absolutely killing. Shows its doing some background activity doing god knows what. If you care about battery health avoid. 2 stars cos the app functionality is pretty okay.
Poor ability to audit app
Would be better if you had a week full access. It looks like it has potential but I’m hesitant to buy as it’s a little complex and I can’t play about with it as it lock you out if you try and input data more than twice
Great app
Wish they had a way to track planks and timed body weight exercises
Rest timer now useless
Rest timer stops sometimes if you are not in the app.
Best workout app with one flaw
This app is amazing for tracking my workouts. It has everything you need and is very user friendly. My only issue with the app is the timer. I noticed when I switch apps the timer does not continue. So the only way to have the timer going is to stay on the app which is disappointing. Especially when I have a 3 minute rest period and I can’t switch apps during that time to keep my rest period consistent. I just ended up using the iPhone timer instead.
Not worth it
I am really disappointed in this app. I have been using it on and off for two months. I don’t see the point of it to be honest and keep thinking I am missing something. The work outs it gives are pretty basic and to me are a ‘token’ gesture. The history tab is pretty basic too. Don’t waste your money. There has got to be best ways to record your training which are more motivating and considered. Sorry! I really wanted to love this app. So if I am missing something maybe the developers can get in touch.
Paid for full version out of faith
Sure it tracks nicely but they don’t have the majority of exercises on the app. I mean it seems like users probably add exercises and it updates the data base instead of the developers having to put thought into it to make it comprehensive. Bulgarian split squat is not on here among other exercises that would require an ounce of research. Very dodo basic. Poor effort creators. Not even military press is as an option for selecting exercise and that’s a basic move.
Great app…but…
Would be nice if this is available in the iPad as well.
Hard to use
It’s very hard to navigate. Sorry
Great tracking app, but room for improvement
I really like this app, and use it to track all my gym workouts. It’s easy to use, has handy features such as plate calculator and pre-set workouts. There are however a few minor issues that I wish the developer would fix: * It doesn’t calculate calorific expense, so workouts are always logged as zero calories. A bad estimate would still be better than none at all in my view. * The graphs could be improved. I would like to see my set history as I workout, not just against the final exercise history. * Plate calculator always assumes I’m using my first bar, even if the numbers don’t work out properly * it should be able to track incremental updates from the previous workout (progressive overloading) If the above were implemented, this app would be unbeatable.
Drain battery as hell
Left my phone 100% tonight before sleeping and I’m 17% at wake up. Looking at the batterie usage: heavyset eats 99% of the batterie power during that time frame and in the day drops at 25 cause I’m doing other stuff so it flattens out. What’s the point of having a gym app if one can’t bring his phone to the gym because it has no battery? I do not recommend anyone buying it in that state.
Request for Apple Watch entry
I must say if this app becomes compatible with apple watch then it becomes the number one gym log app, ever!
For lifters who know what they’re doing and who know what they want to do
There are plenty of apps for helping people make programs, but few for people who (1) already know what they’re doing and (2) only need a a net app for tracking. For the latter, this app is for you, and it’s very good at it. The generously sized controls and clear UI are great for using in a gym. Exporting workout data, backup, and importing programs via copy/paste from a text file is brilliant. There’s a surprisingly deep feature set. I’ve tried other apps but always come back to Heavyset.
Warning
11/7/23: This app suddenly started to continuously crash. After reinstalling, my purchase no longer worked and I’m being forced to buy it again. The developer hasn’t even updated the app in a year. They are trying to force money from people without working on the app. Stay away.
Love the app but would like one addition
I am not sure if the developer still works on this or not, but it would be nice to have to ability to create a pyramid (or inverse pyramid) type set. For instance- say it’s arm day. Using a set of dumbbells you do one rep curl, one rep hammer curl, two reps curl, two reps hammer curl, three… up to five. That would be ONE set. Do three sets of the above for arm day
Good App
Good app I WAS using it daily on the improvised work out until they limited it to 2 work outs per week on the “novice” setting, now I don’t use it at all.
Not sure
I get that this is a lifting app, and it’s a great one, but I usually incorporate some cardio into my workouts. I’m not going to shell out £9.99 for an app that doesn’t give me everything I need.
Fantastic logger
I’ve started using rpe more. Would really love it if it was easier to record rpe logging a set and have the e1rm calculator take into account the rpe of the set. Other than that, it’s a great app and the only logger I use after trying a few others.
Was good until they updated
Was good until they updated the app to pause the music every time you LOG a set. App is useless now because nobody works out without music. 1 star
great app BUT
i wish they would make an apple watch companion app, id definitely be willing to pay more for that!
Very promising, but crashes are a showstopper
Easy to use: took two minutes to get going. Unfortunately the app crashes frequently, e.g. when registering sets. Stabilize it, and I will be back. iOS 11.1.1 on iPhone 7.
Volume max
Love the trophies.....keeps me motivated to break my previous record with each workout. Entering routine the way I want was a bit of a struggle at first.
