NextUp - Watch Stand-Up Comedy reviews
4.3 out of 5, based on 122 reviews.
What people like
- You find new comedians you wouldn't see otherwise.
- Huge selection of British stand-up shows.
- Works well on phone and TV.
What they complain about
- Support never actually helps with login issues.
- Five pounds a month feels too expensive.
- Auto-renew charged you without asking first.
Live Streams!
Always enjoyed watching the odd stand up especially from new British and Canadian comedians on the app, but the last year of live streaming is why I’m now reviewing. It’s epic! Pretty much a new live show every other night, catching all the shows from various festivals, even the fact you can see the finalists of all the new act competitions live on the night is just incredible. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for edinburgh!
Auto renewal of membership a con
I did not sign up for auto renew and now they’ve taken £60 of my money that I can’t afford.
Great app
Lots of content - worth the money
Can’t subscribe on the app
Used this up a couple of years ago it was really good, now you can’t subscribe on the app anymore, oh well
Alright
I don’t even watch stand up comedy so it was pretty unlikely that I would give this app a go. But, because of the monopoly McDonald’s event, I got a free 1 month subscription to this and I tested it out. There’s quite a lot on offer, for what you’re getting. I probably won’t be using it constantly, maybe just once in a while. But it’s sort of worth it
So damn good...
I just binge-watched Andrew Maxwell, Daliso Chaponda & unexpectedly brilliant Bec Hill. And I’m afraid I might do it again tonight. Help. Loving the look and feel of the new app. Waaayyyyy smoother experience than before and finally I can create a watch list. Thanks whoever built this!
Complete scam
Got a years gift card for them to retire the Samsung tv app so couldn’t watch it on anything other than phone. Complete waste of money, very disappointing
RESOLVED and access restored
EDIT The specific problem that I complained about in this review, of the free trial ending days early, was actually not resolved before I the week ended and I was charged for a full year’s subscription. HOWEVER after a complaint on TrustPilot I got a response and I’ve been granted access to the subscription I paid for. I’m still not happy but I have a comedy show playing on my laptop so my mood will improve. ****** I’m in the middle of the free trial week. Updated my password. The app and the desktop both say I’m logged in yet I’m now locked out of all content. Support said they would try to have it sorted in a few days, which will be too late. Not a good way to convince someone to buy a year’s subscription.
Great idea but
To expensive, would be happy £1-£3 per month but £5 I think is to much for what this is.
Gold mine for lifting jokes
Although they are getting more and more comedians you recognise, what’s great is that there are so many unknowns... and that is fantastic for pinching jokes to use down the pub. Every goon goes on about “out out”, but everyone knows you are quoting someone else. But use the thousands of jokes, stories and one liners from NextUp and the whole pub will think you’re a comedy god and you get to take all the glory. Genius
Bad Content
The app is 96% British comedians. No thanks.
Add subtitle, please!!!
Some of the videos I played don’t have subtitles at all. I am from Southeast Asia. I want to explore this new(for me) kind of comedy which is standup comedy. Therefore, please add the subtitles for better experience. Thank you!
No trial, all content is locked
It says you can trial it but every single video is locked 😐
Great service
Been looking for a service like this - amazing british comedy updated all the time
Pretty crap
Price is good shame there is around 3 good comedians and zero N.I comedians even thought there the best around right now
Yh man
The has had me watching all morning but after a month free I'll have to pay for subscription, I don't think so I have the internet where ever I want so i can watch what I want. I just think it should be free. But good app for a month of fun.
Best comedy app right now
Easy to use, great content when on the old commute. Thank you!!
Too Expensive !!! Available on YouTube Free !!!
Good idea but too expensive for what you get, you can get loads of clips from most comedians on YouTube.
Great comedy on demand
Loads of titles and some genres of comedy you won’t find anywhere else online
Can't access anything after signing up
Signed up but still showing all videos locked and app keeps just crashing. Great idea but rubbish implementation
Comedy Gold
Great app for a fantastic service... the only good way to get a huge selection of Uk comedians on your devices, perfect!
Lots of good stuff.
The app works very well on iPhone and via airplay to an AppleTV. The interface could be better (a minor gripe). What is most impressive is the range of comedians - many are relative newcomers but worth a watch. The subscription means that if an act is not to your taste you can move onto another. My hit rate is about 2:1 good v bad. Going forward it will need to add more shows and I hope comedians are getting on board with the idea. The fact that shows are filmed as live in a small club (in most cases) means it's 'warts and all' but lovers of proper stand up will know this is very much part of the fun.
Comedy one stop shop
I'm really enjoying NextUp. It's a great way to watch the shows of comedy favourites as well as take a punt on someone you've maybe never seen before.
It's great!
Great app! Stand up shows from acts I might otherwise never get to see. Looking forward to seeing what new shows get added in future.
