After the last update I have lost interest. The ship upgrades have been divided further to create monetary gain. I see upgrades available but the only way to obtain them is to pay money. It’s whatever, the whole world is like this. I was just looking for a break from the world, I guess I’ll have to keep looking

Its a rly cool and fun game. Streamlining the end screen, like just having the credits and whatever else, then the leaderboards, rather than having to tap 4-5x would be nice, and being able to organize ships in menu

A genuinely top tier mobile game.
I have never written a review for any game, let alone a mobile one, but this one deserves it. The lack of ads, buttery smooth gameplay, and a fun yet not overly complicated game make this top tier. For the devs, please don’t stop working on this, you’ve made something great.
Unacceptable Engram system
I am really disappointed on the recent update. I have all 100 ships and fly 10 of them frequently. Which means, now when I complete missions every day for maybe five days to pull a red Engram, you only have 10% of chance to hit the right ships.Then, there are maybe only 2(1 if you all ready have the another, yes, you can get a duplicate) out of 7 Engrams are useful. In conclusion, a five day hard-working equals to 3% chance of hit, the other 97% is totally useful, because you can only get 10% points back if you vaporize it. I don’t know what’s the point, just force people to pay?
Needs tweaking
The most recent update was a bit of a step sideways. It’s an interesting change, but a bit frustrating for veteran users who now have to reassemble the capabilities that they already had. That said, the frustration I think happens when adding a rare or legendary mod only repeats one that has been previously added. How does that help? This needs to be fixed.
Newcomers, don’t play
8.0 update made the new-player experience dramatically worse. Before, you could slowly but reliably max 1–2 strong ships using free currency. Now the “modules” system forces all ship abilities into random gacha pulls, including abilities that used to be obtainable in a targeted way. With ~100 ships and hundreds of modules (each ship has its own separate pool), the chance of getting the right module for the ship you want is tiny—often close to 1/1000. Veterans can farm high-tier rewards and whales can buy specific modules with real money, while new players in low tiers earn a fraction of the modules and can’t build strong ships on purpose anymore. This is a nearly 10-year-old game living off a fixed veteran playerbase, and it shows: updates are clearly designed to serve old players and payers, not newcomers. If you’re not a 3+ year veteran or willing to spend, don’t bother.
Was a Great Game
The game play has been and still is fun. They still have the game grind-able so you can get most of the powers up if you really try. They however implemented bundles that offer deals but you have to “act fast” I dont like when mobile games exploit FOMO. So I unfortunately had to uninstall.
Longest ever
I must admit this has been the longest game ever I’ve ever had in my life. I love it and will not stop playing had it for many years and it has evolved so much.
UX needs work
User experience needs work, sounds are good, Ui makes sense. Tell me why I just got a modification chip for A SHIP I DO NOT OWN YET. Just give me the ship? This references the free daily loot box, and it can just give a secondary trash currency. Boring feature, I remember actually wanting to use this.

Best bullet hell game on the phone by far. Only reason why it’s not 5 stars is because new content hasn’t been added in a while.
Unplayable levels?
Latest ship missions have a level where only one ship can be used, it’s a ship I don’t own and there doesn’t even seem to be a way to purchase it as if I’d want to. Lame.
Addictive, but with some frustrating bugs
No more duplicate mods!! So frustrating, and makes getting mods such a crapshoot!
Best Arcade shooter I’ve seen
While the whole market is oversaturated with games like this, just search Galaxy attack and you will see why, this one is genuine. Genuinely so many classes out there and so many good ships that are viable no matter where you are. You do only start with 3 basic ships, having to buy the rest with credits. Any pay to win is completely optional, same with watching ads for credits. No need to worry about energy either, even if some sections of the story are rank-gated, and you do have to increase rank to access, meaning clearing so many daily quests each day to unlock, but that’s my biggest critique, the rest is perfect. This is one that, though it may seem identical, is just so different that you really do need to try it if you want to see what makes it good.
The biggest update
Is a failure in some ways, but likely a huge success for the revenue department. The people behind the decision are gleefully filling their pockets with cash while the gameplay and legacy of the game die. I liked Phoenix 2, it's a shame that this isn't that game any longer.
Supers aren’t well implemented
Overall, this is an OK game. I’m not a fan of being locked into three levels, a day, and the way the ultra weapon/shield/teleport works where you have to lift your finger and let it charge makes it almost useless on a busy fire fight.
Engram system too harsh
I've cherished this game for 7 years. I am not even a purely competitive player but I can agree with many player sentiments. The engram system is so random that I get mods for ships I don't even have. There isn't even a pity system like in other gacha games. In addition, why am I seeing lots of players getting duplicates and preload cells? In addition, nova cores give an unfair advantage to players because the engram system isn't reliable for getting the mods you want. I'm patiently looking forward to the next update. If the game keeps heading towards a p2w direction, I am unfortunately going to stop playing.
New Update…
What was the point of me updating my ships to there Apex forms? Only for an update to get pushed that made them weak ASF so FIRI can make you work for Engrams? Why didn’t you make the Engrams slowly make the already upgraded Apex forms more powerful and capable? You guys are str8 garbage! Anything to get players to pay to play more. BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO 👏
Amazing game
My only complaint is that there are no new levels to play after completing the campaign, daily, and community missions. I created a new account to have the experience of working my way up through the ranks again and I can’t complete the campaign missions without increasing my rank. I’ve been playing the same four levels all day
Space Shooter Hero to Zero
This used to be an excellent example of a mainly skill-based game. Yes, it took time to grind up ships and some apexes, but you controlled what ships to upgrade and which apexes. And you could respect amazing runs by skilled players using EXACTLY the same thing you had. The biggest flaws were a poor risk/reward system, and very limited daily content. The latest update, however, is a master class in how NOT to update such a game. New mods to ships (engrams) are purely random as to what you get and for which ship, and have multiple rarities of most. So after grinding for a week, you may get enough stuff to make a few higher tier upgrades …which gives you a 1/100 chance to be the ship you want them for, and might not even be a mod you want for that ship. Oh, and no duplicate protection, either. It’s sad. But that’s ok, you can still play like you used to, right? Nope. To make room for this update, they blanket nerfed every ship in the game by eliminating the final upgrades of each ship, specifically the weapons (all fully upgraded ships do less damage post update). The ones many of us spent thousands upon thousands of credits for (1250 per ship on just the main gun). For context, fully playing all missions each week gives you roughly 5k credits total. So about 6 months of grind was nerfed into non-existence for fully upgraded players. No refunds given or even acknowledgement of the loss. That’s before getting into SPECIFIC ability nerfs, like to arrival EMP, which is so useless now that relying on it is pure suicide. And with this new upgrade system, ZERO new actual CONTENT was added! Same three daily missions. Now with more material return on higher difficulty, but same credits. Nothing new. Just a blanket nerf and a new, broken upgrade system with blatant P2W (stacking high rarity mods trivializes some content with several combinations). They communicated on Reddit that they would be fixing/balancing things post Xmas, but in the month since, mostly more nerfs and some bug fixes. No sign of duplicate protection or anything else to redeem their colossal failure with this update. I will gladly update this review if it changes. However, I’m giving it one more month, then leaving if massive progress isn’t made on the community’s issues. I recommend no one start this game until they put out the dumpster fire it has become. It’s a true shame.
Great game, semi small bug.
The game is incredible. 5 stars. Found a pretty bug bug though If perchance, you were to watch the refresh timer on the warp gate screen tick down to zero; you will find that the remaining time gets set to “-1”. This leads to the game locking you out the next time that you open it, claiming that there is no connectivity with the servers. Aside from this minor game breaker, fantastic work.
Major downgrade
I used to love this game and played it every other day until the latest update, and now I don’t even play the game anymore. It made the ships noticeably weaker and the mods are just the benefits you’d get from ultimating the ships. I’ll probably delete it in a few days
It's gotten worse
You want a specific ship? Too bad. Check everyday for 2 months and maybe it'll come in rotation. Revives used to be optional after you die, now, for some reason you have to pre pick the amount of revives to bring on a run.
WD’s PHOENIX 2 REVIEW
I love the music. It’s very uplifting and the game is very easy to play, but sometimes it can be a little anti-climatic for the prices.
Buyer beware!!
The most recent update removed the final upgrades from all ships. If you already had those upgrades you were given the associated “mods” as compensation. However, the main weapon max upgrade was taken with zero compensation. If you bought those upgrades with real money, oh well, the devs thank you for your donation. I would highly recommend you spend ZERO dollars on this game, and refrain from watching ads. They may steal your stuff at any time.
Amazing customer service + game
I recently redownloaded this game without having previously made an account and not playing for years. I emailed Firi with my account username and some details about my account progress I remembered and they got me back my account in AN HOUR. This has to be some of the best customer service imaginable. The game itself is very high quality, as it has great graphics and lots of ships to choose from, all with unique properties ranging from the primary gun, ability and special ability(as I’ll call it). The game also, despite being free, has little to no ads and bugs are virtually nonexistent in my experience. I would like to see an offline mode though, as this would be a perfect game for offline play.
Really Disappointed
I’m honestly so sad with this new update. There was a point in my life where I was going to get a tattoo of my favorite ship but now I don’t know if I want to continue playing. I used to love how simple and easy it was to pick up at anytime, and now it’s complicated and the business practices feel a bit scummy. I also paid for VIP for the past few months trying to get enough credits to max out each ship which feels like a complete waste now. Pretty disappointed, more sad than anything. Didn’t have the heart to rate 1 star with how much I used to love the game. Maybe something will change, but the illusion of respect the devs had for their played base is gone now.

I’m tired of being killed by off screen projectiles.
Your new update has many flaws. Fix teleport. Fix REMP. Fix off screen projectiles. On 01/20/26 mission I have been repeatedly killed by kamikaze invaders. When did this awful change take place? I have plenty of video to back this up. Either your game has been hacked and losers are playing as invaders against other players or your new directives for invaders to immediately kamikaze into players is atrocious.
Amazing Game!
Seriously one of the most polished games on the App Store, in both presentation and gameplay. If you like bullet hell games, Phoenix 2 is perfect for you, and pretty fun regardless. Only 4 stars because of encouraged in-app purchases to get the best possible upgrades, but easily a fun time for casual play as the other upgrades are fairly reasonable.
New update is a major downgrade
Listen, this game has been my favorite mobile game for years. Progressing was straight forward and rewarding. It feels like the recent update has completely turned it all upside down. Fully upgraded ships have lost their unique perks and now have to be purchased using “gacha mechanics”. I’ve lost all motivation to keep playing.
Too expensive
I really don't like how they removed the live revive feature, 5 to 3 The game was alright but it gets boring quickly, there are only about 9 types of level circulating around. Some items in game (apex) are extremely costly, sometimes takes up to 2 months to obtain a single one. fmp the apex needs to be cut down to a quarter of the cost

Became P2W
Used to be a fun game to play and now with these mods and the amount of grinding to then get dupe mods more than once on the same ship… not good especially since trashing the mod to recover some of the spent currency is a joke on the returns. This definitely needs to be fixed if not plenty of people will be quitting this game.
Great game but
I love this game but it’s only 4 stars because of the warp gate. You wait 12 hours hoping for a new ship or something good but instead you get a supply drop. The problem with supply drops is that they only give you 50 credits, which only buys you half of a level 1 upgrade. I would give 5 stars if you maybe increased the amount of credits the supply drop has.

Removed Features
They removed features in their updates to try and monetize more. Monetization is fine, but removing features for how gameplay works is silly and pushes existing players away. Not worth the download, there are much better games with more attentive developers. This game only releases updates that make paying them more worth it, whereas other games focus on delivering value to people before demanding money.

It has its flaws like not enough ways to earn money, but if you can appreciate it for what it is, it’s a great game.

Terrible control, lack of game modes, with average replay ability. The grind for upgrade is also insane. Ofc you can try and get by without by spending cash, it’s gonna be tough. Should have just kept the game paid instead turning it into this f2p trash
Lack of Replayability
Overall, this is a pretty decent game. However, there are few fundamental flaws with the replayability of the game. There is a limit to 3 mission a day (in which you can make money), and you can only get money from these once. Essentially, you play this game for 10 minutes, and you’re done. The clan feature is very lacklustre. There’s no communication function, and there’s no search option. So it’s basically non-existent. Only allowing you to play an extra mission per day, allowing you to make a bit more money. The one thing I do like is how each ship has its own set of abilities. This makes customization to your play style fit nicely. Although there are a lot of ships you can collect, it feels more like a tycoon where you can barely earn any money, as there’s a very big lack of content in terms of actual gameplay. This game has a lot of potential, but most of it is wasted on the poor decision making where it comes to replayability. Who would want to wait 24 hours just to get a new mission, when you can only play up to 3 per day? Through and through, I do recommend you try the game. At least for a bit so you experience it.

Love it, hate it
I love this game for starters. I think the game play is right were it needs to be. However I’m only writing this to talk to the devs. Cons: - 1 level every 24h yea kinda bored after the first day. But game play brings me back on my commute. - at lvl 8 an another level a week? if you create/join a clan... but no way to search clans so you just have to make one and play be yourself. Spend most of my time on this level. - at 16 a 3rd level but only if you have the required ships... which aren’t selling in the stay that day!? Kinda wasted opportunity to sell ship/currency. Can never play dont have ships. Give me a couple levels a day PLEASE!! Hell i want to even buy a pack and get your shop some money but what am i gonna buy? Revives i never... k 1 a day maybe use? Nah sell me something better.

I was playing the game and within my first hour of playing I ran out of playable content. Getting further is only a matter of playing the same level multiple times or waiting a few days. But it kills the game. The few levels that could be played were fun but without enough content the game just isn’t worth playing.
