I love eight sleep
I always challenge myself to sleep on time and I look forward to experiencing sleep with eight sleep because it’s new and better experience for a quality night sleep. Definitely recommend this to everyone. Worth the investment especially if you run hot all the time! Best upgrade ever.
POS still doesn’t work without WiFi
Supposedly they fixed it. Still doesn’t work. 3am WiFi out? Your bed stops cooling. Dumb af
Nice but kinda buggy
I consistently am stuck on the splash screen. Seems the app has trouble loading or freezes.
Must have $17 subscription for any functionality other than Manuel temperature control
It’s really expensive and I’m not sure that it out performs any of the other temperature controlled options on the market
Not a fan of latest update
Not a fan of the latest update. I used to be able to log into my account and have my statistics right there but now I have to toggle over to mine as my husband and I share an account. That means every time I want to change the temperature. I have to toggle over to his and then sometimes I accidentally do his and I just wish I could go back to the old version of the app because I like the product but the app is driving me nuts!!!
Yes
We love our Eight Sleep so much it's gone from Houston, TX where we lived to 3 years in Lisbon, Portugal and tomorrow back to Houston, TX where we're moving back. It's worth 1.5 of our checked bags.
Buggy
I pay way too much for the app to be this buggy.
Pretty good
It’s definitely improved my wife’s sleep as she was always cold before. We are keen to see how it performs in summer once that happens. I like the insights and the data. Sometimes it’s a bit dumb and even though we are awake and have gotten off the bed the alarm still goes off. It should be smarter than that…
Another Stupid subscription
The bed heats and cools as it should. I would have easily given it a five star…but you’re forced to buy one year subscription, which I did. Then, for most people, you realize the subscription is useless and you just need the bed to turn on and turn off. The rest is analytic fluff that your watch or phone or any other of the 13 gadgets around you can do. The only decent feature is a simple “bedtime” scheduling function where you can simply schedule when you’d like the bed to turn on each day instead of having to manually do it each night. But you’ve got to pay for the entire $300-$400 annual subscription to have this feature. Keep it. We’re tired of subscribing to everything. Let’s get back to the, “take my money, give me the thing, and let’s be done with this” way of life.
Nice but plan to spend 800.00 to 1,500 every couple of years to maintain
Nice but plan to spend 860.00 to 1,700 every couple of years as it is a product that wears out. Woke up wet one night wet when the cover sprung a leak….add another $864.80 for that replacement. Hub has gone out a couple times and now onto the third hub which is nearly 1,000. Even with the discounts to purchase the broken aspects, it’s still expensive. I do enjoy the product when it’s working. Just beware this isn’t a buy once and you’re all set. The product needs a longer warranty.
Like Sleeping in A Hug
Amazing. I don’t know how bad my sleep was until I installed the Eight. I’ve worked on sleep hygiene for 2 years and finally sleep. However, using the Eight system is an entirely new level of sleep. As a brain health and Alzheimer’s doc, this is a must for preventing brain loss.
Backend Bugs
I renewed my subscription and was charged $199 but the app didn’t recognize my subscription. I only ever used one email, one account, one phone, so it’s really concerning that their software has these issues. When reaching out to support I got a bunch of outdated instructions from AI that didn’t work. It was frustrating. I get the feeling that their software is heavily vibe-coded.
Life Changing! But where is cycle tracking?
Honestly this mattress cover has been life changing for my partner and I. We sleep at two different temperatures almost 10 degrees apart! It has allowed us to continue to sleep in the same bed where as before we used to sleep separately a lot. Our quality of sleep has improved greatly and we would continue to buy 8 Sleep Products over and over. However, I feel it is a bit of an oversight that there are no options to add in menstrual cycle tracking (basal body temp, or even just where you are at in your cycle) as this greatly affects sleep, HRV, heart rate, body temp etc. It was unfortunate to find out yet another scientific tool lacking data for women. That being said, I would still recommend the pod based on how well it works to increase your quality of sleep and energy throughout the day. I hope to see a version with cycle tracking and possibly a travel version soon!
Recent Versions Awful for Second Users
Instead of adjusting temperature by degrees, you simply have the option of the arbitrary +/- points. If both sleepers are signed in with the same login, you get the benefit of degrees control, but lose your summary on the home tab. You also cannot change your email address without losing your history. It was better before. Still love the mattress. The app needs a little work that would make a lot of difference, especially at this level of investment for hardware.
Great bed, garbage app
I love that my bed cools down, but what I do not love is that I literally cannot turn the light off on this hub and so it’s glowing all night long - which is the opposite of helping sleep. The new app version has no option to adjust/dim the hub light (there used to be!!), despite “customer service” continuing to give me ridiculous answers like look for the menu icon and tap hub light. But lol. Honestly. If it was there, and I mean right there, I would have done that by now. They keep telling me to update my app version, despite me telling them on repeat that I already have. Besides that the app is so wonky. The bed settings are in 3 or 4 different places, and not in a way that makes sense. Just let us adjust the temp of our bed. The sleep details are all wrong and useless. We don’t buy it for that. Thats what my Oura ring is for. And I’m all for AI, but real people need to check in on customer service issues if they are still going back and forth still after 8 replies. These things are supposed to make our lives better, not more stressful.
Top 10 purchase ever
Eight Sleep is amazing. I've been using it now for about three years and I can't say enough good things about it. The product, the app, and customer support have all been 10 out of 10. I don't generally review apps but this one deserves it.
Fix app please
The app is very buggy and this is unacceptable for an app that requires such an expensive subscription on top of an expensive product. If you’re marking quality make software that actually works.
Good app
Good app but because I work shift, I would like multiple options for sleep schedules, so I can have my sleep and wake up times on different days and at different times. This currently doesn’t allow enough options
Expensive Subscription Paywall for Basic Features
If you do not pay the minimum of $200/year basic features become disabled. Features that require no extra cost to EightSleep to make available. You cannot use bed alarms, varying temperature step adjustments, access locally stored sleep data and more which all can run locally and require no cloud compute. The app without a subscription becomes very dumb. Please make the simple features available for an already expensive product your customers have bought. Not everyone wants AI autopilot. Learn from what’s happening with Whoops subscription model and Google Fitbit air.
Nap scoring is inconsistent
Good for tracking the bulk of a night’s sleep but if you have more than 1 nap per day it seems to get confused.
Best decision we have made for sleep!
My husband and I were both not sleeping great. We chalked it up to getting older and perimenopause for me. A friend suggested we try Eight Sleep as it has drastically changed how they sleep. We reluctantly made the purchase and boy or boy were we shocked. It has drastically changed how I sleep every night. I used to wake up at around 3:00 every single night. Toss and turn and was super hot all night long. This system has allowed me to get a FULL night sleep every night. My husband’s side can be at a different temperature and it still allows me to use blankets which I love. This has been a true game changer for us and the expense is a drop in the bucket for the quality of sleep you can get at night. 10/10. Just buy it.
Why?
I love my 8Sleep, but for the love of all things holy, why did you makr the app default to the home screen on launch, instead of the pod controls? It's like picking up the TV remote and first having to read an AI generate essay about the shows I watched yesterday and how they are affecting my mood and how I can improve tonight's TV watching experience. Why? All I want to do is to control the product I bought. If I want to read about my sleep performance (which by the way contradicts Apple health and whoop), then I will navigate to it. Why would you force that to be home? I love my 8Sleep, it's a remarkable product, but you get 1 star for the app. You need to hire a UX expert who designs for the user, not for a shiny feature you developed that nobody asked for and is inaccurate.
One Week Review
Going to bed with a warm bed is lovely, equally as an alarm waking up warm is great. I am still awakening up in the middle of the night 4 am more often than not to hot and am trying to figure out why autopilot is not adjusting the temperature 🤒
Updates
For the love of Pete could you just put an on/ off button in the top corner and leave it there???? Every update I get you move the damn thing and it takes me forever to figure out where it is!
Notifications no longer working
Great product and app was working well enough. Now notifications are no longer working for alarms and maintenance. Please fix asap
Temperature Regulation Dialed In
This has changed my life. Eight Sleep has found a way to keep me comfortable all night. No more waking up soaked from a heat flash one minute and then freezing 20 minutes later. The temperature regulation has been a game changer for me. Worth every penny!
Mandatory 200 bucks a year for privilege of using your own $2000 device
Doesn’t even turn on without a subscription. You have to manually turn it on. You have to unlock phone in the middle of the night to change the temperature. Hundreds of dollars every year for the privilege of having it be used as an alarm in the morning or be warm when you’re going to bed. The paid app barely does what it’s supposed to. Without extortion price paid over and over it doesn’t do squat.
DL
Great App. But it has progressively changed over the years. Some things are improved. Some things are not as intuitive. What happened to the breathing and stretching features? 4-7-8 breathing tool was amazing! Where can I find it? Also the stretches. Oh the stretches!!! I would love these to be a bit more easier to find. Love the products though.
Lacking full support on sleep data
I don’t understand why you don’t allow the app permission on Apple‘s health to read Sleep data from other devices such as an Apple Watch You have the option for setting away because people travel or sleep away from their pod at different times for different reasons. So that means you understand that Sleep pod cannot always gather all the data it needs from a person when they are away obviously If they could read Apple health sleep data from other devices, we use when we’re not on our Sleep pod, it could take all those metrics into account and keep the personalized algorithm up-to-date with sleep patterns and data You can always add a pop-up for new users when they are setting up the sleep pod to prioritize the sleep pod data in Apple health
Current temp not showing
The update at the end of June 2025 has eliminated the display of the current temperature.
Great insight
So far we’ve been using the eight sleep since 2023. I like how it summarizes your sleep data. It tells you about your REM sleep, heart rate and more. So far I would say a lot of it has been accurate and it’s great insight to how much rest we are getting and what to look out for
Too many bugs recently
This app is suffering the vibe coding syndrome. Too many silly bugs recently. For instance, I would set my temperature to 66, it would not save and keep setting back to 69. Tried like 3x, restarted the app, etc. Then my bedtime, which is the same and was set months ago, disappeared from the settings. Many other examples like this. Hopefully soon someone will publish an open source app to control my pod.
Lacking in some areas
Great app with excellent UI. Would like to see proper Siri (Shortcuts) integration. Having to use IFTT is buggy at best, fails most of the time. Apple Watch app would be good too. Bug: Widget doesn’t use ‘actual temperatures’ even if set in the app. It uses the unitless numbers.
Could be a lot better
On the whole it does basic sleep tracking analysis however there are bugs and time to fall asleep is always 100% inaccurate if you read in bed. You then can’t edit the time to bed as it says it’s an invalid selection. Support is non technical and does nothing other than state the obvious or not test themselves
New UI Rebuild
This review is about the app update and the new UI at the time of publishing this review. The overall look is not aligned with the branding across other platforms. It’s missing the mark. The new design feels and looks cheap. Not at all what Eight Sleep is. The previous UI looked good and worked well, I don’t know who thought this was a required change for the better. I disagree. Not necessary. The font choice is poor, and dated. Not modern or sleek. Looks very stock and cheap. I’m spending more time searching and trying to find information now that was previously intuitive and easy to get to. Some info has now been removed or is so hidden that it is inaccessible. I can’t find daily sleep data from my history anymore. Just an overview with a press and hold and averages over bigger periods of time. An unwanted update from the visual and user operation side. I can’t speak to stability or whether the inner mechanics of connecting and communicating to the hub have been improved.
Wish I had gotten the 8 sleep sooner
Has been a game changer for consistent good sleep. Love how it makes auto adjustments to improve my sleep quality. Getting the sleep data in the mornings has been really helpful too. My only regret is that I didn’t get this sooner.
My sleep is worse with this
My partner has this and my sleep worsens when I sleep over
Please add Napping function!
As the title says :)
Stupid interface update
What a stupid interface update. I can’t find any statistics anymore. The days are constantly rotating and changing colours. It doesn’t make any sense. It used to be simple and clear and now I don’t use it anymore because it is useless.
Ok
Decent product. I’ve had the 8 sleep Pro 2 since release and I had to get it repaired on warranty once. Would be better if integrated with Philips Hue and HomeKit for lights and home heating. As for the new spring 2025 app. Absolutely terrible.
Fantastic
Love the app. The UX/UI is fantastic and the updates are improving the sleep monitoring on a frequent basis.
TEMP SETTINGS
Where did the ability to change the temperature controls from degrees to just numerical values go?! Ex: “-55°, -60°” vs “-10, -9, -8” ?!?!
Decent sleep tracking
Would be better if it stopped nagging me about a review.
latest update needs improvement
not sure why the developers felt the need to make an update. the last version was easier to navigate, more pleasing to look at and see your info. this new version is sub-par. the option to end tracking seems to have disappeared, too, which is impractical if you wake up before your alarm.
App forgets logins and settings
Application periodically forgets my login, temperature settings (we use metric in the rest of the world), and sleep labs settings (prefer it saying real temperatures vs some offset of deltas). Supporting Apple logins so I don’t need to fish out my passwords would be nice, and remembering my settings would go a long way.
Unbelievable
This product is incredible. While I am not sleeping longer (my fault) the quality of sleep has improved 100 fold. I have so much energy, my mood is better, it’s just miraculous. I know it isn’t cheap but wow it’s worth it
Awful, Awful Support
My hub has been bricked in setup “updating firmware”, and the the best their support can do is *literally* one email back and forth every 24-48 hours. If you’re considering dropping $3k on one of these… buy literally anything else.
Love it
Looks great but still waiting for reintegration with the health app
New app update is mid
Feels like we went back in time to a worse version with the new app update. The font is worse, everything is harder to read, and there are several glitches a few of which they fixed recently.
Battery usage
The battery usage is very high for the background
