Bless This App
I’ve been using this app for probably 8 years, and I swear I will die if for some reason I can’t use it and have to switch to another. Other more “popular” apps are great for people who eat junk and thus want to scan labels of ultra processed foods and need detailed restaurant menu nutritional info at their fingertips. But those other apps really don’t do what I want. This app is a lot better for people who care about macros and other measurements like fiber and vitamins/minerals. It works a little better for cooking from scratch or eating whole foods and definitely is superior for tracking macro and micronutrients. And it’s streamlined-it’s not busy or obnoxious. They also have the best customer service and were very responsive the single time I have had a problem in the 8 years I’ve been using them.

Meets everything I need (Free Version)
I’ve never had to pay for anything in the app na duet everything I need is there. It also automatically adds my workout when logged from my Apple Watch. Data is also connected to Health app so you can have more analytics
The meal times don’t pop up
The meal times don’t pop up like breakfast, lunch, or dinner none of it is there
Decent counter
Some aspects missing: **More variety (few restaurants/foods are missing) Ability to log fluid intake or workouts Otherwise, In the couple of weeks or so using this app I am pleased. By far the most annoyance comes from the fewer choices as compared to other apps, such as MyFitnessPal.

Add a liquid option
There should be an option where you can add juice, or smoothies to it. Like if i make a smoothie, i put the items that i put into the smoothie into the app and it calculates it all. Other than that its perfect
Not working
I have had the FitGenie app for 6 months. Right now it is not working at all. It just flashes in and then goes off. Please fix! Hopefully the bug is fixed. Otherwise I like the app. I count macros and utilize grams to measure which makes my macro and calorie counting more accurate.
Good but far from perfect
One of the main reasons I purchased was to get a deeper insight into my micronutrient intake. A lot of missing micronutrient info for a lot of foods. Also a timestap as to when you tracked certain meals would be helpful as well.
Great App
This app is very easy to use and very helpful in helping me better understand my nutrition and daily intake. Being able to scan labels and have tons of popular foods and brands included makes tracking simple. Customer support is very quick to respond as well (even on a Sunday!). Using this app has made me much more mindful and helped me lose weight much quicker than I thought possible!
Hiding macros behind a pay wall
How ridiculous. At least give us tiers to using features. Something as essential as adding a food should not cost so much.

Lots of weird bugs and limitations
Works ok but there are lots of annoyances. Calories and macros are often inaccurate when scanning a label. Weird bugs, like when I open the app to weigh in first thing in the morning, it’s sometimes stuck on yesterday until I change it to today. Accidentally changed my weight from the previous day a few times before realizing what was going on. Also the points on the weight graph don’t line up with the days on the bottom axis. If I look in my nutrition summary, for some reason it says I ate 45 grams of trans fat... must be some weird math going on behind the scenes since none of my foods contain trans fat. It’s very strange that you can’t make saturated fat one of your focus goals. You can’t see your weekly caloric intake, either the total or an average. There is apparently no good way to review your diet from past time periods; you would have to go back one day at a time as far as I can tell. Good luck if you want to revisit what you were eating on a cut last year or something like that. When copying meals from a previous day, you can’t actually see what they are and you’re limited to copying the same meal (I.e. you can’t copy yesterday’s breakfast to today’s lunch). If you save a meal it basically becomes a new food, instead of adding the individual ingredients to your day. That makes it hard if you want to adjust the amounts on a given day. I thought the meal planning / recipes would be cool but it’s just a gimmick that I gave up on after a day. It just spits out random meals that fit your macros for the day but don’t make a lot of sense. One meal will be like 200 calories and another 900 instead of evenly distributing the calories and protein. You can’t even get an overview of the total macro content for all the meals like you can when entering manually. The shopping thing doesn’t even work for me since I live in Atlanta... although I wouldn’t use it if I did. Overall I’m only still using this app because I paid for a one year subscription and it’s ad free and it was cheaper than the ad free version of MyFitnessPal. The functionality is worse though in terms of tracking. As far as letting the app adjust my macros for me, I don’t even use that feature because it’s so simple that I’d rather just be in charge of that myself, especially since the app doesn’t let you pick a target weight/date which is another thing that leaves me scratching my head. I’ll probably just go back to MyFitnessPal at the end of the year and put up with the annoying ads unless there are a lot of major changes to FitGenie.
Buggy
My custom goals won’t save & also can’t change portion sizes because the keyboard keeps disappearing.
Convenience and relief
Trying to cut weight for jiujitsu competition always left me in anxiety. Tracking my calories on the app instead of my head gives me a sense of relief. I can actually log my input and output and see where I stand throughout the day. The meals are also a plus! I’m always on the move. They’re actually delicious.
Trash app
Bought the year subscription and i want my money back!!! Its not saving anything that i put in at all. So upset. DO NOT waste your money

I love this app that’s so usual. I don’t know why but same times when I scan a product the macros don’t make sense with the product. If you guys put a EDIT option gonna be good.
Logging issue
Just had trouble logging meals, I would search food and then click on food and screen froze. Had to close app and re open a few times
I have to add too many foods
It’s a decent app, it’s just too inconvenient for me as I’m having to add too many foods.
Great app
Love this app very easy to use and if there is not a food or brand you can’t find, you can easily create your own. I just wish you can delete old ones or just edit and fix them.
Regret spending my money 😞
I was really excited to try this app but now I regret spending my money. It never finds the items that I scan (which are big brand names) for nutritional info. The free version of MyFitnessPal works much better for me. If the owners of this app are reading this, please return my hard earn money, thank you.
App Crashes
App crashes whenever I try to add a food. Other than that, works perfectly fine. But I use this daily so the app crashing is a nuisance.
Do not like new update
The reason I liked this app was because as I was entering in a food it showed how that impacted your macros for the entire day so I could make adjustments. I just bought the year subscription and with the update that feature is now gone. I do not like it and wouldn’t have bought it if I’d known I was going to loose the one reason I bought it.

Most recent update
Might be the worst bug I’ve seen on this app so far. Days are getting meshed together each time you enter the app and when you input macros it doesn’t register right away. For example, I’ll input a certain food, it won’t register so I’ll exit out of the app, and when I go back in it shifts that food to the prior or future days until I repeat this process 5 times before it returns back to normal. I switched from MFP to Fitgenie basically during its inception and I think the past few months have been the time where I’ve only encountered any problems like this. Still trying to work around it so I can continue to support you guys and not have to input all my foods again but lately it’s been getting harder to not switch back to a more reliable format. Hope you guys can get this problem sorted.
Recomping option
This app is very good Better than 90% of other apps but an option of recomping dieting is needed where there are several days in the week where your calories are in a surplus and the rest where your calories are in a deficit.
Used to be great before update
This has been a go to app for over a year. Since the recent update, the app no longer recognizes any custom foods that I created previously. I now just get an endless load screen when I select the recent food. Hopefully this get fixed as it is extremely frustrating.
Brasil is waiting!!!
The app is amazing, but it isn’t better than MyFitnessPal because FitGenie doesn’t support local products and our language. But apart from that, very good.
Great tracker and customer service.
Fell off the wagon for a while but back to tracking again. I’ve used a few of the “popular” tracking apps over the years but have found Fit genie to be better. I also had an issue and emailed them for help I got a reply back in a timely manner and also went back and forth a few times with more questions. Nowadays to get emails back from customer service in short order is great. Keep it up !!

Not able to view old data
Beautiful and awesome app. Only 4 stars: I can only have access to data 2 weeks back. I can’t view any older data. Please help fix this. This is kinda annoying where you can’t look back what you recorded/tracked.
Horrible syncing with health devices
I like everything about this app except for its inability to sync with health apps. There’s no way to keep track of progress when it’s not connecting to my Apple Health and calculating burned calories.

Updates PROGRESSIVELY WORSE
I have been a supporter of this app from day 1. I’ve recommended FitGenie to so many friends and family. The app has become progressively worse from the last major update to its minor updates in between. There is an area on the home screen of the app that allows you to input 3 ‘nutrient goals’ to track on the home screen, when I go and put in Protein, Carbs and Fats to track and press save, the app either freezes or saves the wrong nutrient goals. i.e. Instead of saving ‘Fats’ it will save ‘Sugar’ instead. It’s been super buggy since the updates. Another issue I have and this is probably the worst. The app is so inaccurate when scanning foods or searching for them on the search bar. I spend most of my time manually inputting the nutritional content because the app has it wrong at least 60% of the time. I saw that they partnered with another company’s database, but I’m not sure if you guys use this yourself... but your yearly subscription customers should not have to manually input their food. We pay you for efficiency and accuracy. One day I checked the accuracy and I could have eaten more than 500 extra calories because the app had the info wrong. Another issue with efficiency is the older versions of the app had an area where you could see how many macros you had ‘left’ in the day so you didn’t have to do the math yourself. Clearly it’s simple arithmetic, but again... if I’m paying you a yearly subscription why would you want to make your app less efficient for your customers? That’s definitely REGRESSION. Let’s keep it simple. I’ve been a huge supporter of this app from the beginning, because I’m a huge supporter of Eric Helms’ work. They use his algorithm to calculate the nutritional needs of their customers. When I first encountered an issue I emailed FitGenie to get help, and one of the founders responded to me with great customer service etiquette. Very friendly, helpful and kind guy. But their customer service has seemed to have also regressed lately as well. I’ve tried to reach out several times via social media with no response. I’m seriously considering parting ways at the end of my yearly subscription if these issues aren’t resolved. I’m just not satisfied with what the app has been producing and hope they will be addressed swiftly. At this time, I can no longer recommend anyone to get this app in the state it’s in. Until the inaccuracies and bugs are fixed... it’s not worth wasting your time until things are improved.
Beautiful design, but missing key UK food
I've been looking into alternatives after getting sick of MFP's clunky design and came across FitGenie. The design is beautiful and clean, exactly what I was looking for, but unfortunately there are two big features that MFP has that mean I can't make the switch just yet. 1. There is nowhere near enough UK food available. I'm happy to help populate the system with my own food, but even the household brands are not available. The scanner doesn't seem to function on any of the items in my fridge currently. 2. MFP syncs with my Withings scale automatically which saves me having to copy my weight and body fat %. It's a relatively small task, but convenient enough that I'm willing to put up with MFP's clunky design for now. Given four stars because fundamentally it's a well designed app that I suspect is perfect for the US audience. Hopefully they offer better UK support moving forward.
Not ready for the UK yet
Great app and has good potential, but just does not pick up many UK foods. Also app support rather unresponsive. Clunky MFP is the answer at the moment unf

App was working fine till this morning. Tried to change my macros and it said couldn’t save because of profile problem. Signed out to see if that would and now it tells me problem logging in. I’ve already emailed support.
Great freshening simple food tracker

I got this app when it first came out because i wanted to support the people behind its creation. It just wasn’t where it needed to be so I went back to MyFitnessPal. I decided to come back and see if it had improved. It had but not enough. Within 10min of using the app it froze. Plus I couldn’t find a way to view weekly averages for calories and macros even after searching the FAQ and google, which is something super easy to do with MFP. Lastly many of the big name brands are still not in its database. Also Since it forces you to let it design your calories I chose low-fat. I was shocked it had me on 110g of fat when i chose the low fat option. I want to like this product, but it seems to still be plagued by inadequacies. Sadly I’m going back to MFP.
Used to like it more
Still a good app, but not a fan of some changes. We used to be able to quick add calories and macros for free but now you have to pay. I’ve been waiting & asking about getting weekly average calories for 2 years now. They used to answer emails but not anymore. I’d even pay for this feature. Still hoping to see it. Those complaints aside, the app runs great.
Won’t sign in
Ever since your newest update now it won’t let me sign in. Keeps saying there was a problem. Please fix it because otherwise it was my favorite tracking app.
A great app but...
This is a great app; easy to use, simple and to the point...when it wants to work. It consistently glitches out, preventing new info to be added and existing info from being edited. This is the only real complaint, although it would be nice to be able to include serving sizes or weights when inputing "quick add" food items.
Doesn't work as advertised
My tastes aren't taken into account. I told the AI I didn't like fish and it's recommending fish. It's not using my pantry at all (which does have clean food in it), and recommending meals I don’t have ingredients for. Doesn't sync calories or steps from Health (there’s no option for these). The pantry doesn't have the same capability as adding what you ate with scan code (I can't scan the specific brand I eat). I see value in recommendations, but everyone else is doing that. I wanted to get recommendations for meals I would actually eat. The app is beautiful, somewhat logical to use, but I don't see the value. Sorry.
