Great during travel
I usually use their PlayOn home software, and it’s nice to see a cloud version is available when away from home. I especially appreciate the sales they run ever so often on the cloud credits, which makes building up and storing those easy. Overall, my biggest issue is the lack of full “channel” support when comparing the cloud and home versions of the software.
Glad I did the free trial first
I would have been upset to pay for something that barely works.
Good service, horrible app
To prep for some international travel I wanted to record and download some movies and TV shows to view offline and cast to chrome cast while I’m in the hotel. This has been working flawlessly until last night but now whenever my iPhone dims/locks the screen or a minimize the app the volume mutes and I have to go back to the app to increase the volume again. I use other apps but don’t have this issue and there have been no changes to IOS settings. It’s annoying so unless it’s fixed I’ll need to cancel my subscription

Was good - not anymore
Was a great app but has many problems right now! Channels are gone, problems with available channels! Can not recommend! They just made the most horrible changes to their once great service and worst of all - they do not communicate anymore, answer questions and solve their problems!
Why is YouTube not on the app anymore
I love this app I have spent so much money on it but the main reason I got it was to download stuff from YouTube and now I just went on the app and I don’t see YouTube. What’s going on?
Not very worth it
Downloads everything ok, but fails to mention that you have to wait over an hour for each download. Even if your download is only 30 mins long, if you don’t open the app and stay checking on it you won’t have it downloaded. There are times when I transfer the cloud videos to my phone where it tells me 6 mins left to transfer, so I walk all the way to my train and by the time I’m on it the app tells me there’s 10 minutes left so I’m left with nothing. Very disappointing and it’s this bad and is not free. I’ve already wasted about 5 credits with this whole 1-2 hour download debacle
Decent service, but obnoxiously poor app
The basic functionality of the app is here, but it is marred with a poor layout (giant icons using up space), and having entirely too many popups, liking constantly telling me to turn in Full HD mode when it is already turned on.
Best app for movie and shows!
I begin my downloads on my iPhone and store on my old android or laptop to watch when I have time to relax it’s wonderful catching up on shows and downloading them for later ! It’s a life saver! If only my laptop was as reliable as this app!!
Can't record DVR recordings on Hulu
Lacks ability to record programs already recorded on Hulu. Useless.
It’s a great app, and a great service…
It’s easy to use and works well. My only real complaint is that there is no way to delete an item in your queue list if you subsequently decide you don’t want to record it. The Android version allows you to do this, but the Mac version doesn’t.
Clunky & Slow
THe UX on this is horrible. The downloadI wanted to watch took SOOOOOOOO long to download (over an hour) and i have fibre.
Works well but has a problem
This app works well to record programs you are paying for, so you can watch them if data or wireless is not available. But has a persistent bug — you can’t turn the subtitles off. You go into the subtitles menu and choose “off” and go back to playing but the subtitles are still there. It’s very annoying as I hate watching with subtitles.
Great affordable service
I have a ton of streaming subscriptions and am frustrated that they don’t allow you to download movies/shows to watch offline- or if they do- they are limited and most of them expire within 48 hours after you start to watch them, and you can only watch them once. Playon Cloud is easy to install and once you place shows in your queue- you can just close your device and let them download in the cloud. You can either set them to auto download to your device or go out using the downloader and put them on a PC. I chose to download them to a PC as MP4 files because I want to be able to move on and off my device as space is needed. If you download them to your iPad/iPhone - it places them inside your app where you can watch them, but you can’t move them- all you can do is delete them. If you ever want to watch them again- as long as they are still saved in your cloud files, you can still download them again, but that’s more of a pain than just putting them on a USB thumb drive. A little frustration at first when it took a couple hours for the recording to start going- but all got resolved. Apparently they do occasional server maintenance which will hold things up for a while.
Was once a good app
This app is becoming useless. First, you couldn’t record from YouTube. Then came Disney + and Hulu. Getting pretty bare bones and I’m stuck with hundreds of credits I can’t use.
It’s good but
I had playOn cloud for a long time now and I watch the same shows on the same channel every week when they come out. This channel is the CW but recently without warning it has been taking off as an available channel. The CW was one of the channel that didn’t require you to log in so now you have to already have a subscription to most of the other channels as well as paying for the recording every month. But apart from that if you already have a subscription to let’s say Netflix and your in the UK there is still the U.S version of Netflix so there is more of a range of shows.
Search not working
When you search for a title it returns all kinds of titles except the one you want. The work around to use my Netflix list is not working too.
Ads, ads, ADS!
You’ve got to be kidding! I’ve been signed up with the app for 5 minutes and have already had—I kid you not EIGHT different in-app pop-ups for deals and purchase packages! This may not be scamware, but it sure feels like it.

Doesn’t work Zero Support
Have used this for a few months now. Initially worked fine but now won’t download jack squat. Not only that once in downloading que position and it won’t download no way to clear it so no way to download anything ever. Support is nonexistent ticket in 48 hrs no response app is frozen in a constant state of trying to download but sites obviously have cut it off especially Paramount. Much better options out there. This is nothing but stealing from Apple customers.

Looked somewhat promising, however I wanted to see if I could stream videos directly from my photos library. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. I guess the intended purpose is just to download and stream from popular streaming sources. I'm not able to cast my videos to my tv without apple play lag. Not going to be too harsh but I also would have liked a better description of the product before downloading. Application screenshots mislead me to think it may have been available to stream from your device files.

This app is TRASH
Have nothing but problems since downloading it. Can’t sign into any of my streaming services. Makes me go through the run around each time only to tell me “error”. Then when I decide to just continue as guest, the movies I choose to download just stay stuck at 0 with it saying, “your recording will start shortly”. Piece of advise…don’t waste your money or your time. This app is complete garbage.

I really liked this app at the beginning but... the owners deleted the Channel CW so now I can’t watch Dynasty :(. So I will probably delete this app and cancel the subscription.
USES ROSSETTA AND SEEMS VERY SINGLE-THREADED
I was concerned it needed to install Rosetta to run on Mac Silicon. When it started to download my Cloud recordings it could do nothing else. An already downloaded one could not replayed. There is a spinning wheel on the downloads screen and I cannot even select the Device tab.
Exactly what I was looking for!
It’s a slow process but exactly what I needed to be able to play movies on the go.

Crashing issues
For some strange reason, even with a couple of deletes and reinstalls this app continually crashes whenever I go to the recordings/settings tab in the app. I kinda feel the company has got enough money out of me and turned it’s back on me, when I’ve got like over 80 odd recordings left in my account.

You removed Vudu and YouTube... Why? Will they be back?

Truly atrocious support
They typically don’t bother reading the ticket, just throw out a snotty “solution” presuming the client is an idiot. They’re currently experiencing a login issue with Vudu not saving my credentials. So the error message tells me the app only works on ad supported channels (such as Vudu!) and I would need to purchase a plan to record it. I figured out on my own the message was incorrect, logged in again, and it worked. Hence there are two problems, the incorrect message and the failure to save login credentials. Rocket science, no? So after reporting these errors several times, going into increasingly great detail because they don’t understand me and keep giving me the runaround, they’re still asking me to recreate the problems. And report them under separate tickets, but in response to the original ticket. No answer to my request for clarification since the actions they’re requesting are mutually exclusive. It’s been over a week and they still can’t seem to grasp what the problems are. Now really, who’s the idiot?

Missing Episodes?
I have noticed that when looking at entire series on CW eg The Originals season 5, there are whole episodes missing and you can’t download them. Sent a support query 3 days ago and still waiting for reply. Really annoying.
My movie is not downloading
I have waited half an hour for my movie to start downloading, and it is not. I need this for my flight in 2 hours and I am worried it won’t be complete in time.

If you’re outside the US forget it
If you’re outside the US and were enjoying US programs that aren’t available in Europe etc then forget it. All the US tv networks are gradually disappearing from the app. NBC, ABC and FOX have already gone. I was stung for 100 credits and all the series I was following I can no longer watch. Still have over 70 credits left and hardly anything worth recording, I expect CBS and theCW will be next. Their customer service is lousy no emails replied to since services started disappearing from their app. Stay well clear

Not what I wanted
It didn’t have a lot of the tv shows or movies that I wanted. The ones it did have only had a couple random episodes.
Good app but
Like that skips commercials. Problem with after the show starts the volume always keeps going up on its own. Need to keep remote at hand to keep turning it down. After a few minutes it stops.
Excellent App!
One of my favorite apps ever! I have recorded favorite streams from every platform in their inventory! For years! If there’s a problem, the support staff finds the issue and solves it. Over one hundred downloads and counting. Out of these numerous successes, only one stream lost. Not on their end. The streaming platform had removed the program before recording! Consistent programming on behalf of PlayOn! Thank you!
Good App but appalling customer support
When the app was working, it was very good although issues with some Paramount +. I then one day lost my credits and cloud space and play on customer support had been incredibly poor. Not responding to enquiries, it been over two weeks without response from play on support. Very disappointed
Good but not great
I know that this app is a great app and it gives me a chance to watch my shows but it only lets you download one show which is frustrating since you’ve got the app and shouldn’t have to pay, for example, I watch shows on the CW which is a free channel in America so therefore it should be free to watch and download as many shows as you want. Also when downloading the shows it takes up to two hours just to download one show. Good app but a few things can improve
That was a lie...
I got the app and super exited when I noticed there was CW on it but... once I clicked on CW and the show I wanted to watch it only had a episodes I was super disappointed in that they had said watch your shows all the time when there was not even half of the episodes there was just random episodes so I HATE THAT FEATURE
Good…but very US oriented
This is a fine app & I have used it quite a bit since downloading it. However, there are some drawbacks. It only covers the US versions of Netflix & Prime, so if you are in the U.K. you can be in the position of being able to watch a program on the U.K. app but not download it on this! Similarly, there is no UK specific coverage, so no Sky, ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 ability. Contacted customer service only to be told no plans to include these. There is also a problem with downloading non English language programs sometimes as the sub titles are not always captured.
