Das neueste Update hat unglaublich viele kleine Quality of life Verbesserungen hinzugefügt. Mittlerweile ist die App wahnsinnig gut geworden! 5 ⭐️
I bought a ticket in the app Fall of 2025 and now it rejects my Visa card.
So I deleted the app, logged back in, and had the same problem. So I deleted my Visa card thinking I could enter a new one during purchase and it refuses to complete the payment process. I bought the ticket on the Swiss train app instead. ÖBB needs to fix their app!
Gute Grundfunktionen
Im Detail wäre aufgrund meiner Erfahrungen folgendes nützlich: - Im ICE eine Sitzplatzauswahl zu haben. - Bei der Reservierung die Option „Plätze nebeneinander“ zur Auswahl zu haben, da man sonst bei Reisen mit Kind auf eine solche Zuteilung hoffen muss. - Wenn ohne Sitzplatzauswahl reserviert wird, eine Information, ob diese nebeneinander, gegenüber, quer zueinander, etc. liegen, andrucken (eventuell mit Grafik), weil sich das aus den Platznummern für den Laien nicht immer leicht ersichtlich ergibt. - Falls ein Reservierungswunsch nicht erfüllt werden kann, nicht durchbuchen (es steht beim Buchen, dass die tatsächliche Reservierung vom Wunsch abweichen kann), sondern eine Option zum Suchen nach Alternativen anbieten. - Falls eine Reservierung für eine ganze Strecke und bestimmte Sitzplätze nicht möglich ist, eine Option mit Reservierung verschiedener Plätze (im Idealfall im selben Waggon) so anbieten, dass man nach Teilstrecken die Sitzplätze zwar wechseln muss, aber immerhin reservierte Plätze für die Fahrt hat.
Security Check...
Seit dem letzten Update mit dem Security Check kann man keine Tickets mehr kaufen, es steht, dass die Verifikation nicht geladen werden konnte...
Expected so much more
Ease of booking was good. No text alerts to changes in schedule. Minutes on my train running 45 minutes late. Translations only worked on some pages. Expected the level of DB app but got much less
Works fine for me 2026
Used in 2026 with no issues. Both for (1) tickets purchased from a computer and accessed from the app, and (2) tickets purchased through the app. (Note: I was paying with a card from an Austrian bank). All worked smoothly for me.
Won’t let me lay
Unable pay for booked trips. I tried Apple Pay, my Cc and my friends CC from a major bank. Then when you go back a page, everything is erased and you have to start over. I tried everything including the website. I have been all over Europe and never had this issue. Please just Mimic the DB app

Nicht durchdacht
Warum wird erst während des Zahlungsvorgangs geprüft, ob eine Sitzplatzreservierung möglich ist??? Warum wird die Sitzplatzreservierung während der Buchung angeboten, obwohl sie nicht mehr möglich ist??? Nicht sehr ausgereift, dafür dilettantisch!
Sommer Ticket
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, als ich und noch 3 Freunden von Innsbruck nach Wien gefahren habe, haben wir uns mit einem Missverständnis getroffen. Wir haben alle Sommer Ticket und haben die Plätze in 1. Klasse Ruhezonen reserviert. Kontrolleur ist zu uns gekommen und hat um eine Umsteigen gebeten, weil wir 1,50 € dafür bezahlt und es "kostenlos für 1. Klasse" und dann komme ich zu einem Frage wieso man überhaupt solche "Angebote" in App sehen kann, wenn man das zumindest nicht ausgelöst werden. Wir hatten Glück, dass es noch freie Plätze waren, aber die Frage lautet: wieso sieht man solche Angeboten und das sogar kaufen kann, wenn man das nicht benutzen kann und macht unangenehme Situation für die Gruppe. Entirely decent
The app seemed pretty good to me, similar in quality to the Swiss railway app and better than Amtrak’s in the US. It doesn’t seem to handle local transit well though.
Does not work
This app is awful. When you try to pay for the tickets nothing works. Apple Pay doesn’t, typing in your card doesn’t. I almost missed my train because I had to go buy a ticket in person as this horrible app doesn’t work. Please fix it
Macht was es soll
App macht was es soll. Widgets zeigen bei mir aktuell jedoch nichts an, unter Android aber schon. Alternativ wären auch Live-Aktivitäten cool. ÖBB Live oder generell Wagenstandsanzeiger und Abfahrtsmonitor bitte direkt in die App integrieren

Daten stimmen nicht überein usw. , auf einem anderen Handy geht es genauso wenig. Absoluter Müll

I was having an issue with making a payment but my friend was able to buy the ticket on his phone for me. When he removed the extra ticket from his app it showed up on my app. Overall the app feels polished. I just wished the payment worked for me.
Ausbaufähig
Wenn Züge verspätet sind, bitte die neue Ankunftszeit für den Filter verwenden! Beispiel: Wenn ein Zug statt um 8:00 erst um 8:45 fährt und ich um 8:30 nachschauen will, sollte ich nicht auf “Frühere Züge” tippen müssen bloß weil die ursprüngliche Abfahrtszeit vor 8:30 war. Das ist so nervig, v.a. weil die Züge ja ständig Verspätungen haben.
Fehlender Apple Wallet Support
Leider gehts im Jahr 2026 noch immer nicht seine Tickets ins Apple Wallet zu exportieren. Da kann jetzt aber auch keiner was sagen von wegen, da gehts um die Ticketsicherheit, wenn man eh trotzdem den Ausweis mithaben muss.. Im Kino gehts auch, in anderen Ländern sowieso. Weiß ned was da so schwer ist ehrlich gsagt. Wär ein tolles Feature Update.
No Problems for a US Traveler
I found this app to be easy to use, quick, and informative. I purchased tickets using my US credit card without issue, immediately received confirmation emails, and was able to easily access my tickets from the app home screen. On the day of travel, my app updated as changes to my train’s schedule occurred. I’m very pleased with ÖBB.

Good for planning, Ugly for purchasing
The Good: Easily see many options for departure station, departure time, and price. There is a way to search with a lengthen the transfer time for intermediate train changes (the wine glass symbol in the top right corner), but it’s not a default, it must be applied for each search. The Bad: The tickets may say they are refundable, but that’s not entirely true. Standard OEBB business practice is refundable only until you download the ticket as a pdf, printed the ticket, or saved an e-ticket. The true useable ticket is more like an airline boarding pass and it’s not refundable. Also, the e-ticket is just a pdf copy on the app under My Tickets tab that requires several steps to reach. There is not a way to put any OBB discount pass or ticket in Apple Wallet. It’s best to download the pdf, save it on your phone (Folders in On My iPhone, if you have an Apple phone) in case you don’t have cell service and print a hard copy before hand. The Ugly: It’s 99.9 percent impossible to purchase anything through this app or the OBB website with a U.S. issued credit card. OBB uses a third party card processor called SaferPay. It automatically declines 99.9 percent of attempts within microseconds. My wife and I tried dozens if not hundreds of times over several weeks and were only successful twice. This with multiple credit cards, all with the latest 3-D Secure. The work around is PayPal, if you are okay with high fees and their find print trickery, or using a third party vendor app such as Trainline or SBB. I think DB might also work. Even those apps at the very end redirect you to the OBB app to download the e-ticket or the pdf (you cannot do both).

Simply go session stopping does not work. It says no gps when I have perfect signal and gps location. New journey cant be started

What’s going on?!?
The app used to work pretty well but for the last month or so it hasn’t worked. I get all the way through the process of getting a ticket, when I get to payment it says my payment didn’t go through. I’ve tried with other cards and it says I need to contact the merchant. ÖBB please fix this! I travel with you all the time and this is becoming a major hassle!

How do you pay? All my cards have declined
The app seems ok but I failed to pay for the ticket. The app redirects to something called saferpay that always tells me that my card was declined and I need to contact the merchant. What merchant? I tried it with 3 cards and all have declined. And neither of the apps for those banks showed any declined transactions. The only payment that worked for me was PayPal, which charged me a hefty transaction fee. How does OBB make any money with that kind of an app?

Purchased tickets with no problem!
I was able to order tickets without making an account first, and paid with my Visa card with no problem. Confirmation was immediately sent to my inbox. I was unable to do these things on my laptop, and very happy it worked on my phone.
Trash app
I tried to purchase a ticket in multiple ways: a saved card, Apple Pay, new credit cards, bank transfer, every possible way. I tried to do this multiple times a day for a few days. NOTHING WORKED. I went to the Salzburg Hauptbahnhof and talked to someone at the ticket desk and she said the 19,90€ ticket I see on the app she couldn’t sell me. She could only sell me a ticket for 77€. Worst app ever!!

Gute App aber verbesserungsbedürftig
Es wäre super, das Punktesystem, in die App zu integrieren. Derzeit muss man immer wieder auf die Website gehen oder teilweise werden Gutscheine in der App nicht angezeigt. Wird daran derzeit gearbeitet? Ansonsten funktioniert die App für Buchungen und Routenplanung sowie Updates zu Verspätungen und auch zur Ansicht der Zugreihung, gut. Danke dafür.
Great for airport runs!
I’ve had no troubles with this app! It works well and it’s nice to be able to purchase tickets at the Austrian price and not pay to use a different service. I especially like using it for airport transfers from the main train station to the airport.

Funktion topp / Datenqualität geht so
Ich nutze die App recht viel und bin mit den Funktionen zufrieden. Ticketkauf funktioniert perfekt. Gelegentlich stimmen Störmeldungen, Anschlusszüge etc. nicht. Das hat mich schon viele Stunden und einige hundert Euro gekostet. Die Qualität der Informationen beim Planen und Prüfen ist also nicht immer optimal.
Unreliable
So often, the app will not allow payment. It’s entirely unpredictable, but seems most likely when you’re in a hurry. The purchase that worked fine in the morning will not function that evening. Enormously and unnecessarily frustrating.
Könnte besser sein
Es gibt leider immer noch keinen Support für Apple wallet und auch keine tablet Version. Könnte man auch mal mit Scotty zusammen legen keine Ahnung warum man da zwei Apps braucht.

App ist oke, hab zwei Verbesserungsvorschläge
- Beim kauf wenn keine Plätze zum reservieren verfügbar sind, bitte ein Hinweis schreiben, dass man halt den Platz mehrmals eventuell wechseln muss. War mir nicht klar und war verwirrt wenn Leute meinen Sitzplatz genommen haben - und war in der 1sten klasse 🥲 - Live view von den reservierten Sitzen und zB mit Farben oder Nummern anzeigen wie lange der Platz frei ist, bis man wieder wechseln muss

I find it very frustrating that the app lacks updates. It does not notify you of train delays and doesn't provide train numbers.
Could be more complete
Easy to buy simple tickets for immediate use. However, some trips must start within 2 hours of the valid date & time. Adding a discount is difficult, and if you reserve a seat you can’t reserve your partner’s seat where you want it. You could be next to each other or separate. Unless you buy two separate tickets. You do save money over buying tickets at the station, but sometimes the savings aren’t worth the hassle of this app. And, of course, finding schedules, etc., requires you to use the ÖBB Scotty app.
Fantastic App
Dumbfounded at the negative reviews. Unless there were issues in the past that were since corrected. This was fantastic for a traveler from the US to book ticket, upgrade, see schedules and monitor changes in the timelines for connections.
Terrible user experience
This is by far the most frustrating experience I have ever had purchasing tickets. Why would you allow selecting seats if you can’t purchase them? And if you can’t reserve seats why don’t you say so instead of showing a general error? If I don’t understand what is the problem I can’t fix it.

Very confusing application - ticket generation and format VERY confusing
I think a YouTube or instruction manual should accompany this app. And requiring these is the definition of a POOR User Interface. I am on an Austrian Train now and it is comfortable clean, on time, and the staff are pleasant. It is a shame this ÖBB App and OBB website are so bad. Really really bad.
Recently reworked and not everything works
The location services setting doesn’t seem to work and tracks your location even when the app isn’t targeted. All of your route favorites will be removed after updating. The new ticket window is a big improvement because you don’t need to scroll down for the code when the conductor checks tickets
