I gave it 5 stars on Mac 3 years ago…
Everything looks OK but at some point it lost the ability to speak on Mac. I have not evaluated the ability to do set up on the Mac and then backup and get that to an iPhone or iPad (and yes I know it is not certified for Mac but this is still kind of sad). There are other apps for Mac but this was at one time a great option for people like my son.
So disappointing!!
Great layout, with all the potential. But, go to the voice selector and no option can be used! Even if they are already installed on my phone!
Great app for MOST - Works on M1 Mac
Really useful app, simple clean UI, easy to customize, works on M1 Macs and iPad with intuitive touch interface on iPad and with simple easy mouse integration on both. Speech is clear and the rate is easy to customize. In many ways the app has a very professional feel well suited to anyone from adults to students (perhaps as soon as they can read). I would go five stars except for some minor things about the UI. First, if you can read this is a fantastic UI that feels clean and intelegent but if you can't you may have challenges - I can't find a way to use icons, pictures, or colors. Second, the main screen is what it is - I couldn't add additional custom "sayings" to this screen - HOWEVER, there is an archive feature which is not exactly intuitive but does let you build up and recall what you want to say - worth checking out and taking the time to learn. As I said - the app has a simple clean UI and changing it (beyond maybe the ability to choose different color themes) could ruin its professional feel. If you require colors, symbols, pictures - look elsewhere.

No mans voice anymore
I just recently had throat surgery and this app was great and now the one mans voice that worked is now a woman’s voice after the recent update.
Excellent for autistics
I’m autistic and sometimes can’t speak. This app is simpler and easier to use than symbol based alternatives. This is my favorite speech app by far.

Issue with custom buttons
When filling in the custom buttons you cannot see the text as you type it in the white box Otherwise great app
Doesn't play as background app
Not useful if I'm required to have my phone open and this app open to hear the text read. Needs to function while in the background.
Major limitation
It seems a good program except it is missing the one feature that would make it what my sister needs - a way to answer and speak on the phone. There is no setting or option to route the voice through the iPhone’s transmitter, only out the speaker. There is very little help available for a non-speaking person that I’ve been able to find researching online. This got my hopes up, but disappointed.

After gaining a moderate speech impediment from oral cancer I needed something to help me communicate. Particularly while speaking on the phone which was a nightmare. This app is a godsend. And it's free. It's not ad-supported, it's completely free. Thank you!

The app often crashes when I press the button to let it talk. They should fix whatever causes it.

God-Send for Vocal Chord Disorders
I use this every single day, all day long. I have a vocal chord disorder called Functional Dysphonia. This is how I communicate with everyone. I can even type to speak on the phone by putting my phone near my ipad to hear the words. I don’t know what I would do with this wonderful app! Thanks so much to the developers! I would love to hear more voices that sound more natural— but still thankful for this way to communicate!

Great, but please make it work with dark mode
As it is, if your phone is in dark mode, you can’t see anything typed into the text box because the text box remains white but the text turns white as well. Other than that, super good.
Good, but how exactly do you archive a sentence??
I got Talk for Me today and like it so far, but I can’t figure out how to archive a sentence. I am wondering how to archive a conversation. 11/23/21-I figured out how to archive a sentence. I really like Talk for Me. Thank you for making it. I saw that there’s a new update and I’m curious about how you’d use the update.
Invisible text
I really like the app except I can’t see the text I am typing. Maybe it is in some kind of white font? But I don’t see any way to change it. :(

I rarely take time to review apps. In fact this is my first but I had to commend the developer for making such a functional app completely free. Works flawlessly.
No audio after only a week
App stopped using audio after a week. I have been unable to find any settings or support for this app. Looks like it could have been a good app but there’s a complete lack of support. I will have to find another app to use since I can not find a solution for this issue. None of the other apps on my brand new iPhone are having this issue please add some info on your app at least for FAQs

My best friend had a stroke six months ago and although she is doing miraculously well she can’t speak. This is helping her get her thoughts back out into the world. She smiled all day today as we learned how to use it. Thank you so much!
Perfect For Thyroid Surgery
I’m preparing for a thyroidectomy next week and was told that I might not be able to talk for two weeks, or much less above a whisper. So I was looking for an app to help. Sure I can get a wipe board but who wants to write all day? I found this app and it was super super easy to install and set up! I LOVE the fact that you can pre-set 48 custom phrases! Really great job! Yes it was all free! No stupid ads or asking me to premium upgrade. Whomever designed this- thank you!
Invisible text?!
It kind of works, but when you try to type something for it to speak, the text is invisible. You can’t read it. That’s kind of useless...
Needs emotion
I really like this app. It has helped me a lot, but I wish there was an emotion you could set with a phrase so people better understand how you mean something.

I just can’t...
This app doesn’t give real instructions how to actually use it. I am confused because I change the voice to a male but remains female. So I will leave it at a one star for wasting 10 minutes of my time. Also don’t send me a link to a website to help, I won’t look at it so I don’t waste your time.

Get rid of the custom buttons
We don't need this additional buttons, we just need clean and say it. The others aren't needed and they take up too much screen we could use to read longer texts. This is not practical at all and the icon is horrible. It need a lot of improvement.
