PLEASE DONT ABANDON — I’m still loving it
I’ve been using Unibox for years, it’s still my one and only email client for all of my accounts. It’s simple and powerful. The person centric email threading modernizes emailing to be more like standard messaging. Under the hood the view option, to select a person, and just see all the attachments is an incredible tool. My favorite tip to anyone: Buy Unibox even to use for this one trick. Rapidly delete hundreds of spam emails or junk by trashing or junking all the messages from one sender in one step. Or select multiple senders and delete thousands at a time. Whatever it lacks (in support of specialized features or a given email provider) can be accessed visiting the providers site, such as gmail. So I don’t take a star off for the simple interface or any lack of features. Plain and simple, Unibox has every feature you’ll absolutely need, and nothing at all that is less necessary which is why I love it. I also love that it’s footprint on my Mac Application support folder is much smaller than Mac’s mail.
Fun while it lasted
This app was great, but it was abandoned by the developers. It stopped working with Gmail and no updates in 5 years.
I wish they continue updating this app
Excellent app, unfortunately not updated for years.
A sad day
This app was great on release I could control mail clutter and read very easily.now this app no longer works..All the good apps are dis’s appearing 😢I miss the app😢😢
Needs an update
It stopped working for my mail provider more than a year ago. Nice app if it works for you. A bit basic though and it could use some extra features.
Main email app
I'm downgrading my review from five stars to two, considering one. When re-installing, the iOS keyboard doesn't show to enter the account password. Account access from Unibox becomes impossible. This is a serious bug that fenders the app unusable. Please fix. Univox is my main email app. The threaded aspiration makes fast mail processing a reality.
Great app but no longer works
Loved the app but it stopped working. Reached out to developer or support but no response.
Best email client you will ever need
I’m a type of a gadget freak, and like to test out new things… so I’ve tried almost every email client there is. This is by far the most beautifully organized email client you could wish for. It collects all the emails of one person at one place and segregates them by subject. So you’d have a roll of all correspondence no matter through which account it happened, and yet you can expand a whole separate thread you were discussing. Still you keep traditional mail look, not some chat form. And you have all the attachments in one place. It’s a dream to work with, I can not ever use another client after being so spoiled with this one. One remark for a lower score is inconsistency in fetching email, as they don’t keep passwords on their server for the point of security, thus it’s not push, but fetch. And they seem to be very irregular. Other than that, it’s incredible that I don’t even mind paying for two separate subscription both for mac and iOS. Wish they will come to senses and continue supporting this app with a bit better advertisement, I’m sure they’d make it essential!
Doesn’t work
Cool concept but can’t add my gmail Doesn’t seem to be actively developed
Nice features.
It won’t check for my email unless it’s open in the foreground of my iPhone. I like some of the features, though.
Great way to organize messages
Puts all the information I need right where I need it. simple interface. I like that I can assign multiple addresses to my contacts under one entry, such as "newsletters" and then it all pops up under one group in the inbox so I can quickly prioritize my emails without having them disappear into folders.
Used to be great but it’s abandoned
Unfortunately this app seems to be abandonware. It does not support 2FA which makes it pretty useless for Gmail now (the desktop version still works).
Best email app.
It’s so easy to find emails. Only 4 stars because there is no dark mode, which frankly, gets on my nerves.
Captures mail from more than one address
I loved this feature, getting both addresses blended and delivered in date order. BUT one day I noticed UNIBOX had discontinued one of my accounts. I’ve tried and TRIED to re-add the second address with no success. I tried to go directly to that email account to see the activity there but I can’t access it because UNIBOX has control of it. This is my fervent cry: Unibox, please contact me or re-activate my second address! I’m begging you. I need to setup TeleHealth & I’m sure it was sent to my second address. All UNIBOX subscribers should have access to a website that communicates answers to question AND an email address when the website doesn’t cover the issue.
Wonderful Concept. Very Promising, but buggy scrolling
Very Promising and a wonderful concept, but there is such buggy scrolling that makes it impossible to read many emails. If all you want to do is archive mail, this is a great app for it, but it is not stable enough for full-time use.
Awesome concept and execution
Finally found an email app that respects security and privacy and helps me keep my inboxes clean. Overall a very well rounded app.
Abandoned App?
App has stopped sending - last update was 3 years ago - is it still supported by its developers?
Great Concepts - Needs Tweaks for Pro Status
I absolutely love how many ways Unibox helps me become more productive. He organization by contact is brilliant—with a quick glance I can make an informed decision whether to stop what I’m doing to read the email or wait until later. This works well with the option to display emails from only one of your email accounts. When an email comes in while I’m working, and I’ve set Unibox to show only my business emails, I’m not tempted to read and attend to emails from my personal accounts. I understand that Unibox is meant to be a stripped-down, simple, no-frills email client. And that is one of the things I love about it. Having said that, there are some features that I’ve been making do without, but would add value to the app without overcomplicating it or trying to turn Unibox into something it isn’t intended to be: 1) “undo” and “redo” options for actions taken accidentally, like deleting an mail or moving it to the wrong folder. Ideally, the feature would allow the user to undo and redo more than one action in a sequence. That way, when a user accidentally deletes or moves an email to an unintended folder, the action can be undone with one click, instead of navigating to the folder and moving it back. And if the user changes his or her mind, that action can be undone and the email will return to where it was prior to the “undo”. 2) A limited number of quick buttons for actions that are used frequently but take multiple steps to accomplish: A) simple formatting options - bold, underline, and italics B) a setting that would allow users to paste a hyperlink as a hyperlink by default, or including in either the edit menu or the right-click paste menu the option to “paste as hyperlink, or a quick button that would toggle the hyperlink on and off. The existing prices of navigating to the Format menu, finding the hyperlink option and pasting it into the box provided after one has already pasted the hyperlink can sometimes feel redundant me inefficient. As to these next proposed features, It is possible that they they are available but I’m unaware of their existence. If that is the case, I offer my sincerest apologies and I will remove the content. Final proposed features: 1) the ability to create directly from Unibox folders within any connected account that can sync with Unibox instead of having to se them up separately in each account’s app. Alternatively, the ability to create labeled nested folders that exist just within the Unibox client that a user can drag and drop emails into. 2) Related to this is the ability to set rules and filters directly from Unibox so that incoming emails could be distributed to designated folders automatically. (Of course this might work only if the rules/folders feature is feasible.). 3) Resolving the issue that requires deletion and setup of gmail accounts whenever the password to the connected gmail account is reset. If the problem is triggered by something on Google’s end, would it be possible to find a way for users to preserve or backup their account prior to changing their password and import it into the new account so they don’t have to spend their time deleting emails and spending time trying to the newly created account to look like the one they had before they changed their password? 4) A more comprehensive, searchable knowledge base that includes enough information for users to troubleshoot complex issues, and learn how to use the most obscure/least used features, and instructions or links to articles on creating or using workarounds for the absence of features that may be in high demand, or steps users can take to mitigate the resulting pain points that can’t be resolved at his time but may be in the future. . 5) A separate menu option to save an email as a PDF (that’s readable on the page) and download it to a location selected by the user, which would cut down on the extra steps involved when doing it through the print dialogue. 6) An empty trash button and/or a feature that would allow a user to select a bunch of emails in the trash folder and delete them all at once. Ideally, the user would be able to select multiple consecutive emails, and they also could highlight one or more consecutive emails, skip over one or more emails without unselecting any of the emails already selected, and select one or more emails that are out of sequence and/ornon-consecutive. 7) A button that would to whitelist a sender with one click upon receipt of an email from the sender the user wants to whitelist. (Sometimes, I find that many emails from senders that I’ve added to my contacts list get sent to my spam box). Now don’t let my wishlist of features make you think that Unibox is anything less than wonderful. I’m always checking out new software, and I have yet to find an email client that I prefer more—including those that have some or all of the features on my wishlist. As a person with ADHD, spending time reading one nonsense emails can turn into a a whole day of reading and chasing down nonsense emails, and ultimately losing an entire workday and a day’s pay to needless distraction. (where I get paid by the billable hour, which are only those hours spent doing billable work). With Unibox, I read just my work related emails, which has allowed me to spend more time on work. I love what they’ve done with the app so far and I’m looking forward to using it as it continues to grow and improve
Great concept but needs better execution.
Despite having the full version of the app, the basic functionalities are severely lacking (the ability to not crash). I had to reinstall the app several times (which annoyingly deletes all your associated accounts). The app is great and intuitive, as in the concept of it. Needs better execution.
Good, but doesn’t support Advanced Protection
Excellent app, however they don’t currently support Gmail accounts that have Advanced Protection enabled. Please take the steps to get the app approved with Google for Advanced Protection users.
The best email client anywhere, ever, world without end
I’m mystified that Unibox’s approach to email is not the standard for pretty much everyone. Great on all platforms and totally reliable.
Broken!
I tried it several years ago and just now--it's useless! Needs update for iOS17! I delete and delete and everything comes back again and again. Impossible and frustrating! It's a shame, because prior to 4 years ago, Unibox was an excellent app and such a great way to clean up my Inbox.
Best email app I’ve used
I really like this app, I hope in the future there will be colors and themes added in so I can better customize the app to my liking.
Good idea but flawed execution
The idea behind this app is great but I find that it takes a long time to load up messages from my accounts, which defeats the purpose of having an app that is supposed to save you time.
If only this wasn’t abadonware
Come on, developer. This is by far the best email client on iOS and macOS. Why have you abandoned the project? The desktop client has become unusable since it doesn’t support proper authentication methods that many email servers nowadays require. I can no longer use it at work as a result where we use Office365. Please update these apps. Make it a paid update for all I care.
Love love love
I love Unibox. I’ve been using it for all my important business emails for years now. I love that it keeps track of email threads according to email address and not subjects. It makes following email conversations with clients so much easier. The look of it all is easy on the eyes and not confusing.
Can’t setup and email account
I am unable to set up any email account. I keep getting mail server settings error the data cannot be read because it isn’t in the correct format. I have tried automatic, set up manual set up an even the Gmail set up. I have found no way of reaching support or emailing developer to see if they still support the app. Their Twitter account has not been updated in a few years.
Best email concepts
From all the emails that I have used, this is the best. I love how it groups all the emails under all the same senders. This makes it very easy to locate any emails under the sender. The issues that I have are that it won't pull any emails until I open the app. It s scheduled to fetch every 15 minutes. Many hours passed, nothing was pulled. Then I opened the app, New emails showed up. I purchases the app to show my support. I hope the Developer does not abandon this l project. It has been a year no new updates to fix the the issues.
Sorely needs updating for iOS and iPadOS
Looks like this app hasn’t been updated in over a year. As a result, many of the new iOS 13 things are missing: prebuilt shortcuts for one. Other things like authorization errors and other niggling issues make we want to throw the app away, but the organize by sender feature, is legitimate a game changer. Just wish this app was given some attention to bring it in line with the latest operating systems and devices in the Apple mobile device ecosystem.
Missing dark mode
5 star once it’s implemented
Best way to email
I don’t think I can ever go back to an email client that does not group messages by sender. Unibox is absolutely the best way to email. I typically want to take the same action per sender, so I save a ton of time with Unibox. 1 less star because I wish it had an iOS 13 dark theme and was able to set it as the Default Email app (iOS 14).
Doesn’t work with Yahoo Mail
Tried multiple times. Logged out and in manually on PC to confirm I had my credentials right. Tried manually configuring the account, nothing. It simply will not allow you to use a Yahoo account. Tried my Gmail and that worked. Don’t want the app for that though. Downloaded Chuck email. Looks great and worked immediately.
The best way to handle your e-mail.
I had a brilliant idea, searched the web, and found this app which already does what I wanted to do: Sort your mailbox in a way that’s actually useful - something I every other mail client seems to fail to do. It’s missing keyboard commands and doesn’t make the best use of my iPad Pro 11” display, and it needs an update. I hope it gets one soon. I just bought the Pro upgrade. I’d be more than willing to pay a subscription in the area of $6 / year rather than $6 once if it was updated regularly to fix any bugs, support new devices and versions of iOS, etc. It doesn’t need many more features! It’s great.
No good with Yahoo mail
Getting errors trying to setup Yahoo account, gmail and outlook are fine. No response from dev
Been using Unibox for 8 years
I LOVE this app! I love how it groups emails together by sender. But I’m taking two stars off because of NO DARK MODE??? Come on guys I love you but it’s 2020 and dark mode is basically a requirement now a day.
Ground Breaking
This is the most unique email program i’ve ever used!! It has very unique characteristics not found in any other email client. Glenn
Pop3 support.
I host my own server on my intranet and I use a pop3 server and I’ve been using your app for years. Every so often I have to delete your app to free up over 7 GB of temporary data that never clears even when you reset the app. Today I uninstall the app and reinstalled it and I can’t seem to create a pop3 account, I remember I had trouble before but eventually it worked but now I can’t seem to get it to work, what am I doing wrong there’s no support email contact.
The Best for Two Features — Needs Update!
Feature one: sender’s entire history rises right to the top upon receipt of new email from that person. This is much more useful than you can possibly imagine. Feature two: see all of that person’s attachments in either list or icon view in one screen with one tap. It is ASTOUNDING to me that no other company STILL has not offered these two features in the year anno domini 2019.
Problems
I love this app if it could stop giving me headaches. I can’t send an email. I get an error message saying “token revoked”
Great concept, no updates.
Update: 1 star to 3. I stopped using Unibox but left it on my phone just in case there were any updates. After a great while and update happened and then another. Would be super happy if the Dev. Would continue to improve because I love the concept so much. Hoping for more development, overall the app still needs some work but I still like it. Still like the concept and wish development on the app would continue, but minus the once a year update when iOS changes, there is nothing going on with this app from the developer. I wish another developer would take the concept and expand to make it a true email powerhouse. Still love the Unibox concept but the app just does not work well. Slow to update, emails not syncing, infrequent developer updates to the app and notifications that simply don’t work. I don’t use anymore but keep it around just hoping someday the updates will fix most of the issues and get push notifications working. If you are coming from the Mac app that also has many issues, I would save yourself $5 and walk away. Version 1.1 update: Had deleted the previous version as the updating just did not work for me. I still use OSX version and love the concept. I want to like the iOS version. The search function is much improved and also spotlight search is a great addition. For this to be my everyday email client, and I really want it to be, I need them to add an option for push notifications. I simply have to many emails that need to have attention quickly. I will keep using it, but still some bugs to work out. Overall good improvement from V1. Hoping for more updates with a quicker timeline than 1 per 8-9 months.
Finally... Personal Best
OK, I have tried every email client available. I’m pretty sure that’s not even hyperbole. For the past few years I have been ping-ponging back-and-forth between Spark and Airmail, with Outlook thrown in. I used Unibox about five years ago (MOL) when they were just starting out. It had some interesting abilities as it groups emails by contact, but it also had too many features that were missing, especially mass delete. No longer. This is the best client for someone who uses email primarily for personal or small business reasons. All the other email client are bloated with features designed for teams. When I worked in big(ger) business, there was so much email on which I was simply copied and the daily deluge was ridiculous. If that is your email life, a client that focuses on sorting email by conversation will probably be more relevant. Unibox works very well for a small-business, self-employed person. If you are looking for a client to keep your personal email separate from the morass of business emails (which is a very smart idea), this is the ONE to use. And the UI is gorgeous, the onboard help cleverly done, and the desktop version is free. The iOS price is right (I am happy to pay a small one-time fee to support development like this. Heck, I’d even pay $4.99 per year.) Congratulations, Unibox.
Please fix swipe
I like the app but I can’t get my swipe preferences to save
So close!
Trying to get to an empty inbox. This app is close to having all the tools for me to do that. Two wishes: 1) Yes, emails are grouped by sender. But they are also grouped by week. Wish the date grouping could be edited. I coud do some serious clean up then. 2) Also wish there was a move to folder swipe option for contact like there is for individual messages. Combine my two suggestions and I could really stay on top of my inbox and keep it clean. And I would give you 5 stars!
Needs updates badly.
Super buggy. Scrolling through a thread of emails and the page will jump around seemingly at random. Hasn’t been updated in a long time.
Solid and reliable but...
Been using Unibox for years, simple and nicely formatted both on the desktop and iPhone. Easy to see emails grouped by client/person, with attachments easy to see. It’s beauty is it’s simplicity.
User for last 3 years. Best by far!
Best Mac email client by far.
Used to work great
This app organizes your email by sender, which was helpful. But it started taking several minutes for messages to load, and now the navigation buttons aren’t working. This app has gotten worse and worse every month. Deleted and went back the standard email app on iPhone.
Good idea but buggy app
I really want to like this email client; I love the way emails are organized and there are a decent amount of settings so you can set it up how you want it. But what kills this app for me are two things: 1) This app does just one background sync a day, not every 15 minutes like I have it set up. 2) Links/buttons in some emails (like Amazon shipment ones) are unclickable and have to be long-pressed to bring up the menu for you to open it. I also don't like that Firefox isn't on the list of browsers but that didn't effect the rating as much as the other two issues.
Great but gmail says cutting off 7/15/19
I have enjoyed but just received an email from Google that they will be rejecting access to email 7/15/19 because of security concerns the company hasn’t fix/addressed. Is there a new version coming soon that will address these issues?
