Great app for selftapes
I would not use any other editing tool for self tapes. This is so easy to use. My workflow is film self tape on phone, trim and crop video on my iPhone. Grab the edited clips on this app, make title page and combine the scenes. Order the scenes and then upload. Files go directly to my agent. It takes me less than 2 mins to put together a self tape submission (vs 30 mins using Final Cut Pro or iMovie). No more having to download the clips to my computer, the onto an editing software and then making the self tape.
COMPLETELY USELESS!!!
I’ve tried downloading the app over again, restarting my phone, updating my IOS … the app just never works. Anytime I click anything it just crashes, all I can do is sign in and look at the screen. The moment I touch a button it crashes. If I could give less then 0 stars I would
The app needs work
I think the app needs some major updates. The filters are very awful finding acting jobs. You have to manually add them everytime. then on top of that, there is no way to break the filters down by ethnicity or race which makes it very difficult findings roles as you have to manually search through them all. I do hope it is updated soon to make things easier for people especially given the costs.
Not good
Lots of fields but many don’t work. Won’t update, sure, you can see what you’ve submitted via computer but otherwise it’s a waste of time b/c you can’t upload or download from phone.
Gradually Getting It
Frustrating at first, but I started to get the hang of it. It took some playing around to understand it, plus I'm following Casting Workbook on twitter, so they were helpful in answering a question. I even attended a brief and free seminar a few months ago and it's gradually coming together for me. There was a couple of glitches when I'd turn it sideways and it wouldn't get rid of that silhouette for me at first. It's either my iPhone or the app itself, but I've submitted auditions with it and even practices an audition (I got the part!).
Amazing app!!!
This app is so easy and a great tool for actors in this self tape landscape!!!
wouldn’t let me sign in
i wrote in my email and password and then tried a different email and password of mine and it all said it was a code 407 and would not let me sign up.
Useful but kinks to work out
This app has definitely made my life as an actor easier, though there are still a few glitches to work out. When I upload, if my iPhone screen goes black the app will stop running, so I need to keep my finger on the touchscreen throughout the whole upload sequence, which can be a while at times. Also, once uploaded, the audio disappears on my clips, so if I watch a self tape after submission I can't hear it. Couple other buggy things, it's crashed on me a couple times during takes, but beats paying a studio to shoot my self tapes, that's for sure! Four stars. Keep updating it! Cheers, Noah
I can’t find any jobs that suit me.
There’s no tv series that are made for kids/teens it’s all adult shows and movies. :(
Silhouette problem solved
Oh I call d a while back and unlocked my rotation. Problem solved. Thanks!!
Go back to the drawing board, please
The app would just stop recording after a few seconds for no explained reason (my phone had lots of storage, so it wasn’t that). Sometimes after a few seconds, sometimes we got lucky and got to record for a full minute before it crashed again. Then the “trim” function wouldn’t work. Would say that it’s “trimming video”, but the nothing would happen. Super annoying. We all know how important self-tapes are. Please take down this app and fix it before letting us waste valuable time (that we won’t get back to audition again!).
Brilliant
If I can use this app anyone can.! Perfect for the “new normal” auditioning.
Won’t allow recording
This app hasn’t ever worked for me? My information is all there but every time I try to record, the cancel button is superimposed right over it, so I can’t ever press it properly. A lot of people I know also have this issue with this app. It sucks, everything else about it seems cool but I wouldn’t know.
total game changer!
this app is incredible. you can shoot, edit and post auditions right to a breakdown within the app. takes all the headache out of self tapes and allows us to focus on putting our best foot forward. thank you casting workbook for everything!!
Why???
Terrible app. Couldn't edit my videos. Kept getting errors. Server kept crashing when trying to upload. When I tried to fix it by deleting the app and re-downloading it my self-tape was deleted. Thanks a lot.
Incredible tool for actors!
Casting Workbook’s Actor App is an amazing tool that actors can use for self-taping. This app helps you with the recording process, automatically compresses any video files, normalizes all the audio to boost the volume, and you can even send your recording to people outside of Casting Workbook. The team has done an amazing job bringing this app to market. Thank you so much!!!!
Wow! Amazing! Huge time saver!!
Thank you CWB for this robust app! In under an hour I was able to compete my whole self-tape from a friend coming over to run lines and tape, to selecting the best takes to combining clips, uploading and getting immediate feedback from my agent. This app is a god send. Great job!!!! I will never go back to download from SD card, edit in iMovie, export, upload, email, etc., etc., What a huge time saver!!!
Casting workbook app
Love the new updated app! Works awesome and easy to use! Recommended! 🙌🏽😎🍻
Sweet!
Oh wow, I love the new version of the app!!! I can record and send my self tape audition to my acting coach before I submit. It’s super handy! The interface is pretty too, I like the pink :)
Casting Workbook Self-tape App
The app is so convenient. It simply streamlines the whole process of submitting self-tape auditions. I can only imagine how it frees up Casting Director's time, lol; "Next!" In all seriousness, it frees up my time too, as an actor. Self-tape video submissions saves me having to commute to studio auditions, battle rush hour traffic, search for parking, pay for gas, etc. I love it!
