Generally speaking this app is somewhat adequate, but account retrieval and transfer to new devices… is significantly less than substandard. As of late, I find myself questioning the integrity of the data security and privacy of application…?🤔🤷♂️
Individual Notification Settings would make this 5 stars
I downloaded this just today and used it all day. The user interface is lovely, intuitive, and I appreciate the soft colors and edges. It was great to instantly share updates and pictures with many, apx 30, people. I do wish there were more settings options for individual conversation notifications, or “only me” notification settings. My phone is hot; I’m using it out in the field; sometimes I can barely see the screen, and then I didn’t even need to read those 10 messages… u know. Thank you for considering this. Thanks for a nice app
Notifications are Kind of the Worst
Signal on iOS can’t hold its pings. As soon as you open the app, poof, away go the banners. And now you can’t even hold one down to reply from outside the app anymore. Privacy, maybe, but to the point that even I don’t know what my messages say. About as annoying as all get out.

I love Signal; however, too many troll/ghost accounts have popped up in my feed. It causes the accounts I want to read to speed past where I can’t read them. Thank you for protecting my privacy.

Ich habe es bereut mir die App runterzuladen und diese über ein paar Jahre zu nutzen. Beim Wechsel auf ein neues Gerät war alles weg. Die Datenübertragung ging absolut nicht und wurde immer sofort abgebrochen. Einfach schade, da jetzt die Nachrichten und Gruppen alle weg sind. Nehmt Signal bloß nicht!
Good when it works
This would be a great app, and it is, when it actually works. Myself, and several other friends have all had the same issue. Signal either won’t notify of a new message, or messages will be sent but not delivered. It also doesn’t ever seem to auto update, it feels like I have to manually update it every few days. It would be a great app, if I could ever rely on it to actually send and receive messages.
Such a Clutch App to Have On Your Phone
This app is so amazingly reliable and relieving in that it values and protects your privacy and those of people you care about. I’m very grateful for the Signal app. Over the years it has been rewarding to see so many friends, family members, and acquaintances be willing to adopt regular usage of Signal as their preferred method of communication. More people need to open their eyes and realize how much of a rare treasure it is to have polished products that protect your privacy, thoughts, and sovereignty. This app and the SimpleX app are must-have communication resources.

I have signal but it’s completely unusable I’ve been added to 300+ groups by randoms -I can’t turn this off- and also I tried leaving groups but my phone was bugging out from the amount of texts from All the groups please add a button that just deletes any group you didn’t join

I’ve turned off notifications. Now every time I open the app there’s a pop up asking me if I want to turn on notifications. No. Like I told you. And that should be good enough. Where’s the option to turn off being asked if I want to turn notifications on?

copying and pasting google maps onto signal in the late evening.. sometimes doesn’t work when clicking on the link. it says unsupported
Solid communication
We use Signal the private messenger system because it's reliable. It keeps all of our veterans connected and all of the many small chats we have set up. We are a 501 C3 helping veterans stay connected and we take them hunting and fishing for free and it works with T-Mobile satellite, which is what I'm using now

The reply options (Reply & Thumbs up emoji) have completely disappeared in recent updates. Please fix it.
Great Messaging, Needs Better Video Calls
I really appreciate the App’e focus on security and privacy, and the messaging features work well. However the video call experience has been inconsistent for me. During video calls, there are often delays, choppy audio, weird feedback noise and video, and frequent “connecting … ” messages even when the internet connection is stable. Sometimes the call quality drops significantly, making the conversations difficult. I don’t experience the same issues with other video calling apps using the same network. I hope the team can improve the stability and reliability of video calls. That would make a huge difference to the user experience.

Keeps expiring, messages get missed
I don’t open Signal regularly, only if I have a message notification. If Signal expires then it doesn’t tell me, it just stops notifying me of new messages. It can be days or weeks before I realise it needs an update and that people have been trying to reach me.
Missing Major Features
The app is wonderful and my family and I are all switching to it. However, there should be an option to automatically save media in the gallery rather than having to do it manually. Moreover, when recording an audio, a single tap on the microphone button should start recording without having to leave our finger pressed on it, or swiping it up. (Just like whatsapp’s implementation works) PLEASE CONSIDER THESE CHANGES🙏🙏

Beware of this freaking company In Service because they don’t verify names or pictures or anything else on the accounts and there’s so many fake. Unbelievable when somebody says they’re Joe Schmoe and they sent you a picture that Sandra bullock well guess what? Obviously it’s not Sandra Bullock it’s Joe but when they don’t verify names on accounts. Somebody needs to come out with a service for Dan verified as well as pictures to prevent fraud other types of problems. This company hasn’t figured that out yet.

However Signal has unfortunately made some poor choices over the years, and they seem content to stick with them. MobileCoin? Location metadata included with profile photo uploads? Continued reliance on phone number registration post usernames implementation? Hello privacy? I guess…

Where I live, we have a lot of group chats, and it would be great to have channels like you can for Slack. It’s annoying every time you want to message more than one person you have to create a new group rather than just a shared message. It would also be cool to be able to ‘pin’ things like on slack. It would also be great to not have to make a group name every time you wanted to message more than one person out once
