What people like
- Messages automatically disappear after twenty four hours
- Feels safer than basic messaging apps
- Very simple and easy to use
- No ads interrupt your conversation
What they complain about
- Support never actually helps
- Messages have a very short length limit
- Photos and videos often fail to send
- App crashes frequently or won't load
Better than Signal
I found this app to be a better option than Signal because the messages automatically disappear in 24 hours you don't need to use your name and it's very simple to use.
Done with this app, crippled by message length max
I’ve used this app for years. And while it’s always had a pretty ugly interface and not great UI and it hasn’t kept up with modern functionality or seemed to even make an attempt at that, I did like that I trusted it and it felt secure. What seems to show an almost willful abhorrence or unfathomable negligence for users is the fact they have weirdly capped the message length at a very short amount. Worse, is that if you are doing voice dictation, it allows you to keep talking and shows the words that you’re typing and it seems like everything is fine and then it’s not until you stop talking and go to hit send that it deletes however much of your message is over and above the maximum. If you were trying to generate customer anger and rage clicks and taps and just create an overall frustrating experience, this would be one of the top ways that I could imagine. It’s enough for me to stop using the app after years of use. I would assume that it had been abandoned from a development standpoint, and perhaps Apple had made a change that they simply hadn’t kept up with, but I’m seeing an update from a month ago. I’m at a loss on this.
App
The App is ok. What I don’t like is you do not get a notice that you have a pending Chat or a Chat response. I have to go in app constantly to see if I got a reply to a Chat.
Notifications
You don’t get a notification when you send a text? Or get a text
Meh
It’s probably by design, but it’s very difficult to get the same UX on both the phone and the MacBook. For example, can’t paste in a screenshot from the MacBook into the Mac app for Dust (an iPhone app that can be installed on Mac) History (up to 24 hours) is tight enough, but this app is most definitely more friendly on the phone. My issue may be unique, but I control my phone through my MacBook for most of daylight. Won’t presume to make any suggestions, but this is a bit of a thing for me.
Cyberdust is the way to go
Fantastic way to communicate. Feels safer.
Can’t log in
Used to be good but now says can’t log me in because of my region. Sent emails to support no response been on five years
screenshot flaw.
whenever you swipe up and view your recent apps, you can still screenshot the messages without it notifying the other person. i suggest blurring the app or add a screen it once it’s closed so this is unable to happen. this would make the app perfect.
Awful since update
This app was great until the latest update 1 month ago. Then I couldn’t sent pictures or videos. Then the amount of text sent as once went down. It eventually got to where we could only send 2 words at a time and now it doesn’t work at all so I deleted it.
Cant send pics
Used to work fine, then it stopped.
It’s the best app you didn’t know you needed.
See above
Password
I would like it if this app could be password protected. Great app other than that! I would also like if I could send pictures/videos and if the messages could be longer.
Paste from other site
Love your app. But can’t copy from other place and “paste “ at your app. Thanks !
Cannot upload photos
The newest version will not let me update photos. They fail every time. I’m on the latest iOS. Help!
Problemas
No deja enviar imágenes, los mensajes tienen que ser cortos o no salen el rato es perfecto
Light Mode?
Please a light mode? Otherwise, perfect!
Dust fell behind
I used to be able to copy and paste links in dust but after an update about 2 years ago that function went away making dust useless for me...now I can just text or attach a picture...used to use it all the time but now rarely use it...some friends still do so it's the only reason I occasionally go on...I Find it useless now
Options
So far enjoying this.. some colour options would me nice
Notifications
L’application a été mise à jour. On peut enfin se connecter. Mais maintenant impossible de régler les notifications. L’application se ferme dès qu’on les ouvre Du coup impossible d’être prévenu lorsque l’on reçoit un message.
Notifications!
I’ve been using this app for years now…we’re all grown ups here, so why can’t we turn off notifications if we want to? Bring notifications back! I keep missing messages and reply much too late…
I tell all my friends to use this
This is the only app I use for private conversations. It’s very reliable, and way safer than basic messaging apps.
bug everywhere
my first profile pic stayed forever even when i chose another profile pic and when i wrote something in the parlor section and then close account to start over without erasing the stuff from the parlor section the app crashed and remained unusable
Good app
Good app. 1 bug: Even after msgs are dusted, the timestamp in the conversation list stays.
Blocked
I already have an account but every time I try to login, it asks me for a username and it says my username is already taken, BECAUSE I TOOK IT!... Now I'm blocked from even verifying my phone number.
Worked great til update required
Dust wants me to upgrade but when I hit “upgrade” it takes me to the App Store and says “open” but then when I hit “open” it takes me to the Dust app which asks me to “upgrade” and it seems to be a never ending loop
Asset Entities Inc.
All of us at AE love the Dust App!
Ehh
Used to be great. Now I can no longer send pictures. Tried to contact support and still no help
Great.. But..
Absolutely love the idea of the app. Really good idea. Only suggestion: add a group chat feature, msgs expire 24 hours or whatever. Thanks so much, keep up the great work.
No funciona
Nunca encontré s ninguno d mis contactos y nadie pudo dar d alta a otros es una reverenda porqueria.
Emojis
The inability to use some emoji format is discouraging; example Birmoji.
I AM NOW A TOP PERFORMER! Michellelo67
Mark Cuban actually text you and gives inspiration everyday! Who wouldn't want him close by! The owners of cyberdust make you feel like part of a family! I feel like I personally know so many busy famous people they all treat you like friends! I must get 300 text a day!
Not secure!!!
Screen shots are available, replaying pics and video is available. They think it’s secure cause they delete your message after 24 hours. So do most apps! Horrible excuse for safe chatting. Had to give 1 star to submit this.
A good app
Good app but would be nice if the last message I sent myself didn't disappear. 👍🏻 so I can know what I said and when I said it
😂
Por screamau❤️😍
Awesome app but need improvement
Best app for the private messaging.! But need improvements like Change thi contact name Dont dust for specific time like 1-2 min after reading..! Need improvement in ui a lot ..! But other features are awesome
Great app
Deletes after 24 hours doesn’t collect data like other never once seen an ad overall 10/10. I’d say just download and delete Facebook messenger!!
Horrible
I’ve been message them for weeks with an issue. There are different alert sounds but none of them work. No one has responded to me or fixed the problem!
New update not working 4 me
I really do like this app but I can't even open it up anymore without it crashing and kicking me out. Not sure what to do. :( Please fix
Bueno
Solo la uso por screamau💝❤️😂
Does not work
Used to be a good app, does not work following recent update
Video
Here’s hoping videos can be sent that last longer than nine seconds.
Please send me notifications
It used to send me notifications when I got a message. It no longer does. All of my permissions are. Also I can’t even find it in my app settings to do so. Also it won’t let me rate it 0/5. But I guess it does do what it says and sends messages that deletes so I guess 1/2star
Awesome app
Does what it says it does.
Crashes on iPhone4S iOS 7
Loads friends list every time, crashes when selecting 'invite'.
Neat
It's okay, good UI. But no one will join as people are not looking for snapchat alternatives. We are content.
Where did the allow notification button go?
Previously I would see a banner notification when I received a Dust message. Am I missing something?
Can’t send pictures?!? How lame!!!
It won’t send any pictures which is super friggin annoying!
Almost Perfect
Great app. Nice features. Except it could be more secure with a passcode lock. This is an essential feature for a "private" communication app. Will change to 5 stars once that feature is added.
Good
Seems good and simple to use
