Greatest Game on the App Store but…
This is the greatest game on the App Store I have played in years. Let me be clear this game is pure gold if you are looking for something fun and addictive to burn time. The only issue I have with it and why I can’t give it 5 star is that there is a bug in the IOS version that bug is that the growth stats don’t work so you don’t have access to the advanced class which is frustrating. I also think that there could be a lot more of content the talent tree could be more vast because once you have all the stats maxed out and have 10-20 gems you don’t really have anything to spent gems on. There could be more formations and more classes. I am opened to change my rating once the bug is fixed.

This game honestly surprised me. I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I bought it, but it’s well worth the money. The controls and the UI are REALLY strange, though. I ended up scrapping my first clan because I thought it was bugged (it wasn’t bugged. I just didn’t realize you *pick up* things with a tap, and I didn’t understand why I couldn’t put my dwarf where he needed to be). And the HUD just doesn’t feel natural to navigate. I feel like the tab orders don’t make sense (I find myself tapping other tabs before I remember the tab I want is completely opposite side). And I end up accidentally selling things I don’t want to sell because you have to RE-tap the coin bag in order to end it. I’d also love QoL improvements, like being able to my dwarves” growth stats WITHOUT going into the tavern (and then the next tab is the crafting screen? And then the tab after that is your dwarves again lol). There are small annoyances and frustrations, but the game is just so incredibly fun and addicting. I love it and I’m so happy I bought it. Note to people also new to this game: where you choose your next battle determines which location you’ll end up, so consider that when you’re choosing battles! (You can also reroll battles, btw!) The location determines what items and with what affixes an item can have. Ex: Caves (purple gem color) give dexterity, crit chance, and poison resist. So you probably wouldn’t want to craft a shield while you’re at the Caves!
Limited Replayability, Poorly Designed Menus
This game is worth the price, and I enjoyed it for several hours, but it became repetitive and lost its appeal halfway through my third run. I don’t expect much more for $5, so I do recommend it to anyone who’s on the fence. The first time playing, the poorly explained menu mechanics will make you want to start over and play again once you’ve figured them out, but that’s where the replayability ends. The menus are poorly laid out, disorganized, and buggy, which wouldn’t be as big an issue if there was gameplay outside of the menu system. There’s a large skill tree to explore and tons of equipment options to use to optimize your group, but the gameplay itself lacks the variety to remain engaging otherwise. So, if you love grinding to get the most optimized gear and min-maxing your skill tree, this game is for you. Just don’t expect any action. Your dwarves fight the same handful of enemy types over and over again and do so automatically. Your only role is to manage your team and equipment. I will still play this from time to time until I’ve unlocked all the equipment, but it has lost its appeal for now.

Item names are confusing
I would give this game a 5 star but the names of items are too confusing for new players I tried making the “starshard” for a quest, I had the “white death” and the “storm forage” and the “staff of lightnight” But I needed the “staff of thunder” so when I tried crafting it, it gave me a shield instead of the starshard, I didn’t get my quest and there’s no undo button for crafting Why TF do you need two staffs with such similar names?!?!!?!?!

Pleasantly-surprised to find one of the best and most-addictive (pay-once!) games on iOS!
Boring
No strategy really needed. I pick the hardest battles and never get close to losing a dwarf. I have so much money and nothing to spend it on because I have all the loot I need. It feels like there is no point in playing this game.
Hooked
This game caught me by surprise. Very grind worthy.
If the game gets erased you start over
Not having any cloud saves is pure garbage - also the veteran percentages are absolute lies.

Started Out Fun
This game started out really fun and addictive for the first few hours. Then the difficulty spike of the levels jumped up like 3x out of nowhere on level 90. Theres nothing i can do to progress as this isn’t the sort of autobattler where your units gain experience when you aren’t playing. They don’t even gain experience if you aren’t winning. With nothing left to do but either let all my dwarves die in battle and get game over I am deleting this app and leaving this review.
Phalanx management sim
A deceptively complex game where you manage the weaponry and tactics of a company of dwarves. There are tons of viable builds and more open up as you progressively move through the between run skill tree. If you like Caves of Qud or other deep games with simple art styles, this could be for you.
A real Game
This game is so refreshing fun and addicting! I have hated the scam the mobile games have become. It’s nice just to play a game, not get spammed with micro transactions! I just pay and I got a full game!

First day with my Dwarves
I was just looking for a game like this. Something like a turn based rpg, with real depth that isn’t full of garbage adds. This feels like exactly what I was looking for. I’m especially happy to support someone publishing a life long goal game as a solo developer. Great work on this project! I’m excited to see where it goes!
