Tin Can is Lifechanging

We have had a tin can since last fall and my 11 year old uses it daily. It's in the living room and when it rings its so cute to see my younger kids rush to the phone to try and answer it first just like in the olden days. It has really kept my tween connected and given a lot of independence without having a smart phone. I feel like we could keep the no smart phone rule going for many more years all thanks to tin can. It's also super cute. Thanks so much for this great idea and making it happen!!!!!

Comically awful to set up

I have spend days emailing back and forth with Tin Can trying to set up this phone, adjusting my WiFi settings, being told I need to work with my ISP to reconfigure my network, this process should not be even a fraction of how difficult it is. My child remains terribly disappointed with their excitement dashed. It’s shamefully brutal just how ridiculous the issues with simply connecting to WiFi are with this phone

Works, but…

Setup was quick and painless, just minutes to connect to WiFi, choose a plan, and pick our number. Adding the first set of approved callers was easy too. But now, when I try to add more callers, I can’t find the setting. I searched online for a fix and couldn’t find anything. I’m not sure what I’m missing. I would like to add more approved callers…

Good but…

So I can call people 24/7 as long as the people I call are available. When I bought one there were random symbols in the top right corner. Then I realized that it was for speed dial. Really good

Garbage

This product is garbage. It’s very difficult to setup and then extremely unreliable after that. I’ve got >100 devices on my Ubiquiti network, all of which are happily connected to the internet except to the Tin Can phone. I’ve reset it multiple times, connected to different networks, yet I can’t even record a voicemail greeting that isn’t cut up due to the connection dropping. I can download and upload files at 50 MBps, yet this stupid phone cannot make a voice call. I haven’t dealt with technology this poor since the 2000s. I got my nieces so excited about calling me and this has turned out to be a complete disappointment and waste of our time.

Great concept

The concept of the Tin Can Phone is great, and overall we’ve been happy with it. We have two, so I do wish there was an option to change the ringtones to make it easier to tell which one is ringing. We also had some connection issues at first, but customer service was very helpful with troubleshooting and got everything working properly. A few small improvements would make it even better, but overall my kids love it!

Happy with our Tin Can

We received ours early 2026 and have been happy to have a landline the kids can use. We keep in near our living room. My son loves to call Dad at work in the afternoons to see when he’s coming home. :) Tim Can has been great for our family. Thank y’all for making it!

The phone arrived July 27 2026. Promising idea, but unusable so far

I bought Tin Can phones to help our grandchildren stay in touch safely, but registration has been blocked for over a week because the app cannot find an available phone number in any area code I try. Support confirmed the issue and said it was escalated, but there has been no resolution or meaningful technical update. The concept is excellent, but a server-dependent product that cannot be activated is of no practical use. I’ll revise this review if the problem is resolved promptly.

Bring back childhood

We absolutely love our Tin Can. We’ve had it about nine months now, and the ability for our kids to connect with their friends in a simple tech freeway has been amazing. The phone is easy to set up, I love the feature of an app to provide some technology and parental monitoring. But the simplicity of it is what makes it so amazing. The company is fast with customer service, handled their explosive growth in a way that was honest, professional, and endearing. I highly recommend the Tin Can for anyone tired of coordinating. Their kids play dates for them, who wants to empower their children without giving them another high-tech device

Fantastic for kids!

We are thrilled to have a tin can phone for our kids to use. They can call to chat with friends, arrange play dates, and talk to grandparents. They love the speed dial and speaker phone features. Such an amazing product for our young kids and growing tweens.

Slow and unresponsive

Frustratingly slow, takes forever to load. Click buttons and nothing happens.

Not enough stars possible

We could not love a product more. I originally purchased one for my kids and one for the out of town grandparents as a way of keeping in touch more often without using my phone. The kids (7, 5, and 3) took to it immediately and call almost daily. So I was already a big fan. Then this summer several friends also purchased and they began to call and get calls from peers. Some of the cutest/funniest conversations I have witnessed. I especially love the connection with our out of town friends. I have since purchased two more as gifts and plan to get more in the future for other families. I know the landline is not a new invention, but this new take is amazing. Perfect that it just uses the WiFi. For now we just have can to can but as our kids get older we will definitely add on the party plan.

Grandparents on speed dial

My parents and in-laws love getting phone calls from our kids (8, 5, and 3). Even the 3 year old can figure out which button calls which grandparent. Sometimes they have something to say or they ask for presents. Sometimes they just like to hear themselves talk. It's a lovely world of independence for all of them. Highly recommend.

Bring back the good old days!

We love Tin Can and it has been great for our 8 year old. He loves connecting with friends from school and family. We’ve had no issues with the technology itself!

My kids’ new favorite thing!

The Tin Can is nostalgia to the max… Remember how novel it was to hear a phone ring in the middle of the house and not know who was calling? My kids LOVE staying more connected to friends and family, and my wife and I love that it’s screen-free. It’s amazing how much more engaging conversations are with my kids when they’re not staring at a screen – total fame-changer. This has been one of the single best purchases we’ve made for our family in recent years. The phone, service, and app are all top-notch and the TC team has done a wonderful job pushing updates to continually improve the experience. I recommend the Tin Can to everyone and am grateful for this incredible and fun way to stay more connected relationally!

We have really enjoyed using tin can in our home. The app is easy to use (and has a very cute, aesthetic look as well). We have recommended to many friends and so many are also enjoying their tin can experience!
