Drums
Best app for playing drums
Garbage listening
So I was trying this out Becuase I was told it will teach better but the app is garbage like I hit on the right timing and it counts as red and I am like “what the heck is this?” FIX YOUR LISTENING FOR THIS APP
4 stars
Wish they had more songs like linkin park and three days grace otherwise really good app
Inaccurate
It’s a cool app but it’s just reacts to anything like I play kick when it wants me to play snare and says it’s right if it was correct with what I’m doing I would of used it but it’s not but it’s still cool to learn ig
uhm
i put practice pad as the thingy magicy but the guide is asking me to play the kick nd stuff like broo i dont have that.. it had me hitting the drum pad again nd again acting like it was sum kind of real drumm but its a good app ngl
gave it another chance
Making some progress in fixing what many of us saw as issues in the latest overhaul of the app. Long time subscriber that is considering giving it another chance. update(aug. 3) - the playing window, which comtained most of my main gripes with the recent major new version, seem to have all been addressed. i will go back to my annual subscription, thanks for listening to user feedback.
Drums
This app is good for like ten minutes and then you start to realize that to be able to do anything really at all you have to buy the premium which it isn’t super expensive but it’s just super annoying to have to spend money to do anything on the app.
Great. Still being updated
Would love full iPad support please!
Timing off
I’m playing at the exact timing as the song but it says I’m missing notes even though I calibrated it every time I open the app
So much fun
I’m an absolute beginner. Been following tutorials on YT, reels etc and found it hard to mimic those things, and would struggle to keep myself entertained for more than half an hour. This app makes practicing much easier to stay engaged. The only negative which has come about after paying for 1 year standard subscription is that there were some songs available. Now there are no songs at all, unless you pay for the premium subscription. Like why take all songs away?
Amazing
Im in middle school and I have had the app for 1 day and my band teacher is already congratulating me on improving so much
Super glitchy. Doesn’t Grade Right.
This app randomly does the weirdest stuff and seems to get glitchier not better.
Needs a Left Handed Option
My sons left handed so we’ve swapped the drums around so the Snare is on the right side. It would be nice if that was an option in the app.
No music notation option
This would be a great learning tool if it had a music notation option. Not sure why that’s not available since this is just midi. Other than that important detail, it’s a fun way to learn some beats and practice rudiments. Hopefully they’ll add music notation in the future.
Needs different colors for each part of the drum
The app is great, but I was expecting each part of the drum you hit to have a different color. Snare is blue and then everything else is yellow? That’s a huge miss. So eventually your screen is full of yellow blocks scrolling by but they each can mean a different thing.
very good app
i use it every annd it help with my drums everyday awesome app
Monthly fee has increased dramatically for very little new content.
I don’t have time to practice constantly and have no need of an annual plan. Since I last subscribed the stand-alone month by month fee has increased substantially. I assumed maybe a ton of new content or new features but it appears to be typical SaaS greed trying to get me to sign up for more and longer. I bought the premium version of koala sampler and all the packs for less than a single month of melodics.
Great - but app and interface need a lot of love
So the app is great in the sense that it teaches you to pay the drums but the interface is really funky. It doesn’t work near the edges of the screen. The menus don’t make sense. You have to go to different places to go back to the same place depending on where you are.
Pay the extra money for drumeo
It’s fine for what it is. Really limited song selection and no actual instruction. I’d just pay the extra money for drumeo instead if I was starting over.
Snare doesn’t work
Everything connects but the snare so I can’t use the app how do I fix this issue
Good but UI needs work
It makes not sense that the Explore section always puts you back Grade 1 every time you open the app. Also, we need some feedback about whether the midi device is connected. It’s frustrating that the only way to tell is deep in a menu or just to start playing and find out nothing works.
Does not have the Donner ded-80
I can’t do anything I don’t know if the drum itself won’t connect or the app but it is not an option for a drum to connect to can u guys add the Donner Ded-80
Great! But….
I really like this app as a learning tool. My biggest issue is that once you’ve found a song or lesson, then completed it, it filters alllllllll the way back to grade 1 material instead of leaving the menu at the last song/lesson chosen. It makes the app laborious for long sessions.
Helpful
It’s the best way that I have found to help me learn drumming but there isn’t much free options past the first couple of lessons
The feeling
It feels like I’m actually doing good and playing the drums
The last update is so counter-intuitive
I used to like this app but the last update is so aweful and go against every human behavior intuition … First, make the score calculation so convoluted (instead of a straightfwd 100-score system) Second, hide the best score in the guided path page I understand the intention is try to gamify the practice to incentivize people to use it more so I can assure you what you did is the complete opposite of what you wanted to achieve Best making the scoring more convoluted and opaque, you are disincentivizing people to play more. Pls don’t destroy this app. Now seriously reconsider my subscription
Missing one key feature
Excellent system for learning more precise drumming! But it’s missing one key feature. Well maybe more than one. It should have a setting to make the note precision more demanding because it’ll give you a green even with strikes that would sound sloppy. Auto bpm should let you go above the lesson’s BPM. A tagging feature would let you group and return to skills that you care about. Songs should be easier to heart. As an educational tool it sure would be nice for it to have some path to learning regular drum notation. And how can you drum without caring about dynamics (see the Purdue shuffle lesson ouch)? All this said, Melodics has a brilliant method of letting you play along and instantly reflecting your precision. The one BIG thing it’s missing: letting you enter and save your own one- to four-bar phrases (like some of the lowly metronome apps out there) and then use the feedback and tracking capability. This would be invaluable for mastering exercises found outside the app, and for the songs in your band’s set list. Pleasepleasepleasebabyplease add this feature.
Good - but could be easier to use
While I’ve given this 3 out of five, please do not take this that I am not enjoying using this app and would happily give this five out of five – if only it worked reliably enough. The issue is the relationship with the microphone and earphones on a regular basis, and I have tried a wide variety of earphones and microphones now The app will suddenly stop playing anything to the headphones or won’t pick up items from the microphone or or sometimes react to noise around it as if the stick restart when the stick restart sometimes not even turned on this can mean that I have to restart the app couple of times until this works. if the app was both faster starting and more reliable with its pick up and use of headphones and microphone this would be 5 out of 5.
Awesome
This app is awesome! It really helps me play and feel better about drumming! 👍
Amazing
This is sooooooo good! Oh yeah,I love how you can do this cool feature and haha just kidding it sucks
They keep adding
The iPhone app is getting better and better as they keep adding. Thou there are the occasional hiccups and somethings you can only access on iPad or computer
Sheet music notations!
I wish the there were music notations or tabs that light up and change color for accuracy instead of blocks. This way you could subconsciously learn sheet music while kinesthetically playing the notes. There should at least be an option for it anyways.
The is the best lesson app
This game helps me do different drumbeats.
Not good
It keeps restarting over when I’m in the middle of my lesson!😡
Happy customer
I’m 9years old and this app helps me a lot with drums
Meh
This app is not that good for training, although it’s pretty funny sometimes
We need Chinese
We really need the Chinese version. Thank you, developer. Even the machine version is acceptable.
Doesn't support pad or keyboard controllers
Downloaded this and bought a USB adapter in hopes of a more portable replacement for the desktop app, to use with the finger-drumming and keyboard modules I've already unlocked. But unlike the desktop app, which works with MIDI keys and pads, this one only works with drum sets.
This will change your musical life
I used Melodics to begin to learn finger independence on Ableton Push and now I’m at the point where I can play nearly anything in my head. It brought me finger independence in manageable steps. Just getting into using it to learn drums and I feel confident it will take me where I want to go.
Half of the songs don’t work
Great app at first until third lesson didn’t work. I thought it was a fluke kept going to only find out half of the songs and lessons on the app. Don’t work. After I signed up for the subscription😔 not happy.
