Doesn’t work
Bought this for cubasis 3. It doesn’t work, either in cubasis or on its own. Suspiciously disappeared from the app store immediately after too.

I love how it sound.. I haven’t use it as a plugin yet.. just messed around with it a few times.. that’s why I haven’t gave it all stars.. I don’t play music.. but I can imagine the possibility for someone who do know how to play
Modulation not assignable to midi cc
The app sounds worthy for the sounds it contains, really wide collection of sounds. Unfortunately looks like (I’m using logic pro) the mod wheel inside the interface (unlike other parameters like attack/release) is not assignable to a midi controller, this makes all the sustain sounds unusable. Would be pretty to fix it.
We need install options
I have a 64gb iPad and I ran out of space so I need the option of installing the sound on a sd card in order for me to use this app until then I can’t use the app.
This one is a Must Have
I recently bought this app and use it a lot. The sound quality and features work really well on my iPadOS and iOS. Wish there were better searches that would have lead me to this easier. I was rounding out my sound library and ChatGPT search found it.

Great but a few problems
Bought this for iPad as an alternative to the Spitfire BBCSO plugin I use on Mac. Works well on its own, and in the Sessions app I use playing live, giving me access to multiple instruments at a time on different MIDI controllers on the stage. I’ve run into a problem, though, when using it in Logic Pro for iPad. I can assign a different instance of Iconica Sketch to each track, just like on Mac where I’d load up whatever I need and orchestrate across instruments. However, I’m finding that only one track actually sounds, which is very frustrating. I’ve had to freeze tracks to limit Iconica to a single active instance in order to playback or export with all instruments. It really kills the workflow. Don’t know if this is a Logic Pro problem, or something within Iconica. I’m on an M4 iPad Pro, and CPU doesn’t seem to be the issue.
Sounds great, when working
In the few times I have opened and played the library of instruments in the Iconica Sketch standalone app, switching from instruments has shown an unfortunate flaw in the app. Previously selected instruments will carry into new instrument selections, instead of clearing the selection to load the new. This requires closing and reopening the app to resolve.
No Piano?
I searched for a piano, but it’s not to find. Orchestra means: No Piano??

Excellent sounding minimalist app right to the point I love this app truly Only wish it had choral voice like opera singers & French horns Other than that I highly recommend it Thanks for such a great app
No Sound
I cannot get it to produce sound. I’ve tried stand-alone and as auv3. Tried deleting and re-installing but there is no way it is re-downloading samples because it only takes a few seconds for it to “install”. And yes I am deleting app, nit just shortcut and also all related files. If its user error its something subtle because I use other Auv’s every day. There is no link to support requests anywhere in the app, only a manual that does not address this issue. I don’t know what else to try and I think it’s too late for a refund.
Great sounds but cpu spikes
Hi… firstly I really like Iconica Sketch! However I’m seeing DSP spikes when running in AUM. I’ve got a simple loop running using midi coming from LK to Iconica in AUM. It’s triggering the staccato celli patch. When left looping it sits around 16% DSP (monitoring using AUM’s node statistics) then goes up to 32% then spikes to over 70% and glitches the audio (iPad M2). It then settles back down but cycles round again. Seems to be a build up of CPU being used due to the loop? Appreciate if you could take a look please.
Not what I was expecting
I was expecting layered orchestra sounds, massive, beautiful sounds. It’s just a bunch of individual sounds, like clarinet, bassoon, etc. It’s very, very, very basic. I have no idea why I bought this, I kind of want a refund.
I wanted this to be something more..
This app is essentially a wrapper for an AUv3 that is a solid, if not underwhelming, sample playback engine. I would have liked to see the ability to play whole sections, etc. but as it stands, it is a good orchestral plugin, with a novel way to add articulations. I think it faces serious competition on the “expressive orchestral” plugin land, GeoShred with SWAM instruments comes to mind, but it is solid enough to warrant a purchase if you regularly use orchestral sounds.
very good sounds missing solo strings ensemble patch
This is a very good app, but it's missing just a couple of things. Solo strings like a violin and cello would be great. And how about an ensemble patch that is for strings, brass, woodwinds. That would make things a lot easier.
データが一括ダウンロード出来ない
うちの回線では1.8Gを一気にダウンロードしようとすると30分かかっても半分行かずにタイムアウトしてダウンロードに失敗する。こんな雑な設計にせず、Appleのガレージバンドのように細かい単位でパッチをダウンロードさせてもらいたい。 と言うかcubaseならライブラリなどのダウンロードの一旦停止と再開ができるのだから、その程度はipadでも出来て当たり前では？
Cannot save presets..
The sounds are great, but unusable for me. I want to use the app live, but it cannot save the presets I created. I wish the developer would allow this. For me, it’s a waste of money :( This limitation should have been clearly mentioned in the app description.
Good sounds... massive download
The first thing to mention here is that the stated download size is a con. On the App Store you'll see an 18.5MB download but the first thing you'll see when launching the app is "DOWNLOAD 1.8GB CONTENT". You cannot use the app at all unless you get this, so be warned. Sounds terrific though, as both a standalone and particularly in AUM with some reverb added.
Doesn’t work in AUM
Buggy install had to install content again in cubasis after 1.8 gb install. was able to get it working on iPhone but no dice 🎲 on iPad iOS 17 2nd gen iPad Pro. Works in cubasis not in AUM only on my iPad for some reason. Restarted again to no avail. Sounds good from what I have heard of it will change review once that gets sorted! Update: Latest update fixed this deleted the original app- reinstalled and redownloaded the library- i believe it didn’t download the factory content properly originally. Love the sounds glad it’s working on my trusty older iPad now as well as my phone which never had a problem for some reason.
Useless
It does not even seem to work with Steinberg‘s own Dorico. And it does not include essentials such as solo strings, harmonics, sordini, not even an alto flute. The dynamics are very crude, most instruments just start to blare upwards of mp. Many instruments also have a restricted range that cuts off notes that are often used. I can play quite a few that are not possible here. There is no A clarinet, both clarinets sound tinny and ridiculous. The harp sounds good, but without harmonics?
Good sounds; weak app
Sounds are solid and I’d like to use them, but the app simply does not do what a live keyboardist needs. I want to use the sustained string tones and control the dynamics with key velocity. No problem, every app can do that, right? Not this one! You MUST use an expression controller (wheel, pedal…). Which I don’t always have in live settings. Infuriating, as it should be just a few lines of code to add a switch for that. The app also seems to fuse release and reverb into one control, which is not ideal and I’ve never seen before. Conclusion: unusable for me.
Worth everything, but one minor/major flaw
This is so worth it, the only problem I’m facing on iPad is that there should be an option to route velocity to modwheel on sustain or others that use it as dynamics, as the scoring program (flat.io) I use uses velocity, not mod wheel, and I can’t figure out how to do it, if I can even switch it, besides that, perfect (figured out how to fix this) Update: ok so I really like this but one Issue or suggestion: I wish you could more intuitively select instrument based on placement like in BBC Symphony instead of the list which would also make the UI Looks a bit better, just a suggestion (kinda like iconica ensembles)
Black Screen
Nach der Installation funktionierte die App fein. Nun bekomme ich seit zwei Tagen beim Öffnen aber nur noch einen schwarzen Bildschirm. Keine Ahnung, wie ich die App wieder zum Laufen bringen kann.

Fine stars for the great sounds! ONE star for for USER INTERFACE. Grey on Grey colors? The top row of items (undescernable, due to little to NO contrast. Also, whats's with the super small text sizes? Are you afraid we might be able to read it? You want to save the company some money? FIRE all the Qualty Control Dept., Fire ALL the Supervisors in the chain of command, fire the Artsey-Fartsey Dept. , fire ALL the VP's and give some of that money back to the developers. Its a WIN-WIN! Five stars if you fix the visual problems. Absolutely inexcusable for a company of your calibur.
such a cool app
this is the orchestral app I have been waiting for on ios. the only thing that is a bummer is it does not work with GR2 DAW yet. hopefully it’s coming soon in a future update. also a midi learn function could be a great future update, so one could easily map midi knobs to controls. still giving it 5 stars though. because it is perfect for ios
App when opens is completely black
It doesn’t run on my m1 ipad pro not showing in logic pro or in camelot pro. When opened standalone i get a completely black screen.
Almost impossible to see anything on this interface!!
I just bought this, and I want to love it, but it's virtually unusable because it's so dark I can barely see anything. Please, Steinberg, remember that functional design is way more imprtant than someone's idea of a cool look. I'll amend this review when the developers clean up their interface so that everything is easy to see. For now, though, this app is literally unusable.
An easy to use orchestral library
IIconica Sketch how’s a reasonable set of orchestral instruments and articulations readily available upon picking the instrumentation. Some people have objected to what they consider to be a small library. Considering that the most typical playing skills are right in front of you I strongly object and think that you get extremely good playing instrument that sounds real. the problem I have with Iconica is there requirement that you download the 1.8 gig library if you use it outside of Cubasis 3, and in Cubasis 3, you’ll be downloading the 1.8 gig library as well. It’s a lot. Currently I’m dealing with Wi-Fi. That is super slow and him to waste hours getting the program. Downloaded is a real pain in the neck. I will not write something low when it’s capable of doing excellent work. Could it be better, yes, but if you can compare it to what’s available for the iPad it is a stunning, high-quality set of functionally high quality timbres. If these are something that you use, and it definitely goes beyond the orchestral mindset many people have, hip-hop, rap, rock, all use orchestral timbres and these are well suited for what it is. I hope they expand it, but seeing as creed plays a big part in everything available for the App Store I would suspect if they did expand, it would probably be a part two and honestly, I would probably buy it. Well, worth your consideration, recommended.
No hay sonido
I bought it, installed it and there is no sound, all icons in the application respond but there is no sound... other instruments are fine. I don't know what's going on?
A very useful AUv3
I have a lot of AU’s parked on my iPad with little use to me. The quality of this app is pretty stunning, for me. Sure, I can see that if the rods are going out in your Retina, the app may be a little too dark. However, will this app be in my live playing and mobile recording? Absolutely!
Almost there!
Great to see an AUV3 with good orchestral sounds! It has enough instruments to sketch a decent score, the articulations are few but well chosen, and the sounds are great for arranging on the go. It also has a very clear interface, which is a plus. It has just come out, so there are a couple of things that could be improved, though, like the mod and pitch wheels effectively stopping you from pressing keys on the screen (big problem for orchestral playing), and it would be nice to arrange the presets by instrument type (strings, woodwinds, brass, etc) instead of alphabetically. I'm sure we will get there eventually. Definitely worth it at this price.
