Finally
I finally found an app where I can track food macros consumed daily that is reasonably priced. It’s similar to what my wife’s WW app does, but I didn’t want to join.
TRASH not for precision tracking
Absolute trash. I’m so upset. The search for food is terrible no brands ever populate, then when u try to add manually and update to grams, it won’t. It’s broke.
Good but missing stuff
I cannot adjust my exact BMR or import my workouts, so my caloric intake and deficit are off every day. Get an actual health nerd on ur dev team, bro

Double Check Everything
Mostly very useful, but the barcode scanning is comically off on most foods. Routinely gets the calories right, but then hallucinates sodium or sugar content to an absurd degree. Trust but verify.
Great easy app
I’ve only been using it for a day but so far easy to use and motivating. I am in great shape but I just want to be a little lighter and keep building muscle.
Poorly configured app and trap to pay.
Took me 30 minutes setting it up, at the end it say to subscribe otherwise it is stuck on that screen and won’t go any further until you pay and subscribe.
Cool but one big issue
I’d say good app mostly, but a few things need reworking. The whole macros estimate system is a huge mess. I try to ignore it, but it saying one needs to consume 300 grams of protein when you do your steps + a workout, is just wrong. And setting daily macros doesn’t work when 3 thousand steps changes it all. Whilst I just know to ignore it, other users may follow it wholeheartedly and miss out of gains by eating redundant protein

Food choices are way more limited than I expected. Typing in a food, especially if more than one word, gives options that are not even close to what I typed. Choices for foods bought at restaurants or take out just aren’t there. I wish the food database was a lot larger and varied. Would also be great if the fat was more specific to include saturated amounts. Would be much better when you want to reduce your saturated fat intake.

Absolutely horrible app. AI just guesses and is not accurate. And it doesn’t let you cancel the free trial. It just leads you to an error message. So predatory. Customer service team is not helpful in giving refunds
FIX HEALTH SCORE
Wonderful app, tracking works great, it adjusts your daily calories by syncing data with health app which is genius, but I only have one complaint. The Health Score doesn’t always accurately depict what is actually going on in the tracker. For example it told me my score was a 7/10 because I needed more calories and protein, but in reality I was over for both of those, so it should have been telling me carbs were my issue.

I like it but
I like the foundation of this app but it’s not worth a subscription imo it would be if the AI could get the calories accurate but I’ve had to go over least 7 meals I had yesterday n today and correct the calories for them… Another thing to you can only food and how much water you’ve had not any other drinks n that also adds calories into your diet I might buy the subscription if it was a lot cheaper but 29.99 for a whole year for something that’s inaccurate? No thank you. Can add my calories up myself and accurately!

Used this app for less than a month in 2025. Cancelled and deleted it off my phone because it was inaccurate garbage. Guess what I see today on my card today? A charge for another year’s use. What a scam.

Good, could be better
I have used this daily for nearly two months. Better than others I’ve tried. Easy to scan foods, track progress, monitor daily calories consumed & expended. I have tried to adjust macro goals and it always reverts to those calculated by the app. Seems an easy fix. Support could be better. Each time I bring this up in detail I get multiple emails saying I didn’t provide info about the problem. Responding directly to the email leads nowhere. I’ll still use because it’s better overall than others, Pal. But it could easily be excellent.

I’m enjoying the app. On days when I use the app it holds me accountable to what I eat.
Terrible app
This app is genuinely terrible at guessing portion sizes. What should be an 800-900 calorie meal says it’s 400 every single time.

Calories are way too low
First of all. It says they’ll notify you before the trial ends. They did not so I apparently paid for this for a year. Sweet. It’s WAY low on calories with every meal. Remember it doesn’t know what you cook with so all butter and oil is not accounted for. It’s not just these guys, but conceptually the problem with photo calorie trackers. You will get fat if you followed this to a T and they should be clear about that. The one star is for the $30 I paid you that I didn’t want to.

Good app, HORRIBLE customer service
I downloaded CAL AI and started the free 3 day trial, signing up using my Apple account. Immediately, I received an email saying that I could take advantage of a deal that would make the annual cost for the app $19.99 instead of the advertised $29.99. I clicked the link in the email, and was charged that $19.99. 3 days later when my trial was up, I was charged AGAIN for $29.99. I wrote CAL AI and kept going back and forth with them. I wrote to Apple. Apple said I had to contact CAL AI. Who is to say they won’t charge me in a year $19.99 and again for $29.99? I sent them screenshots of the transaction, and all they asked me for. All I want is my $29.99 back that they stole from me. As soon as this year is up, I’m done with CAL AI. BE CAREFUL when paying for this app!!
Needs Work
The app doesn’t recognise fibre I just ate Cheese, Spinach and High Protein Seeded Sourdough. According to the app I had Zero Fibre. I’m sure its teething problems but they all need reporting. Its actually quite good but has a lot of learning to do.

Excellent app with one failing
This is a great app. Super easy to use, great widget, and I love how it looks and feels. Something that really bugs me tho, is that my recently scanned barcodes don’t appear in the recently logged food, and searching for them doesn’t make them appear. I end up having to photo my yogurt pot every day despite the fact it’s identical every time. I can get around this by adding it to faves, but it makes more sense that I can search and find anything that I’ve logged before. Seems a real oversight. Would give it 5 stars if it had that

Not good for fluids
This is good if you want to just take photos of your food to get the information, I have no issues with that but if your looking to track everything including liquids then can not recommend. It’s not easy to log the liquid and the measurements are fixed to fl you can’t change to ml (or any other format). So if your looking to track all your intake then can nit recommend dorty
Amazing Results
I have used Cal AI for about a year now and have lost 25 pounds! It helped me keep track of all of the calories, carbs, fat and protein to lose weight without pills or shots! I feel great and on track to get to my target in a few more months!
Get rid of streak notices
Don’t like being notified of breaking streaks. Makes me not want to use the program just to see that I didn’t log in yesterday and broke a streaks focus on positives or give the option to control these notifications.

The problem with this app is you can take numerous of photos of the same item and will give you multiple different macros disappointing would like my money back
My fitness pals younger brother
I accidentally purchased the premium version so thought Id give it a go since ive already paid the money. And i think ill just be going back to using the free My fitness pal. The suggestions are rubbish and the lists are small. The barcode scanner doesnt always work. And often find im having to correct macros. Shame really cus it looks the part but i just dont dins it as easy to use as other apps of a a similar nature.

Good app but missing things
This is a nice app at a reasonable price, however it is missing a few things. Notably, the online functionality is quite buggy and doesn’t preserve data. All data is supposedly stored locally, so if you don’t restore a new device from backup then you’ll lose all your data!
Extremely slow
Good AI functionality but the app performance is appalling. Really bad.
Not for UK
The app appears to have the makings of a good product, but is very clearly based on the US market, a great many products and food descriptions common in the UK are simply not recognised. It is ok if it is a factory produced product with a bar code, but a home cooked meal often goes wrong if you describe it. It doesn’t know the UK word for Chips, so you end up having to write French fries, and other times it tries to advise you of a factory made US brand equivalent that we don’t have, the AI assistant often doesn’t recognise the food , it turned my overnight oats into mash potatoe??? Cancelled my subscription, will wait until it has matured or find a UK alternative…
Versatile and feature packed
My main gripe with the app would be that the food database isn’t as exhaustive as MyFitnessPal for instance, especially for staple supermarkets in the UK such as Waitrose. Apart from that, I have thoroughly enjoyed using the app and feel the price for the premium subscription is fair. When the food database is lacking, the data extraction and OCR from a photo of the food label is quite accurate. I was also pleasantly surprised by the accuracy with which ingredients are extracted from photos of foods. All of this makes up for the somewhat lacking food database and I recommend using the premium features to make the most of this!
Issues
I’ve been using this app for over a year and have always loved it. I’ve convinced other people to use it as well. However, since the last big Apple update, the app crashes way more often than it works. I can’t believe they haven’t fixed it yet. I check everyday for new updates, but none of the updates have stopped the crashing issue. I’m getting frustrated. This has been my go to app for so long
Great app, but with a few bugs and yes it costs money
Generally the tracker is correct on macros if you scan foods either by photo or barcodes or whatnot. Only issues is obviously that you have to pay, but it’s the cheapest one out there. Sometimes the macros are just completely wrong too. One MAJO issue I want to see fixed is the issue of not being able to log exercise. That really sucks because it will have a red circle around the day which doesn’t mean much but it’s annoying nonetheless
Keeps changing my weight
I’ve been using Cal Ai for about a year now, then all of a sudden it’s started to change my weight. I’ll put in my actual weight then I look on my progress and it’s changed. I got the app to track my progress in the gym as well as my meals but now my past year of tracking progress has gone down the drain. Not happy :(
Inaccurate/buggy
I’ve been using this app for over 100 days now and it’s good to track weight/progress and the macro tracker is a good idea but it’s not accurate, even with the barcode scanner, if you take a pic of the barcode scanner 2 or more times it will always give a different macro breakdown. For the macros you need to manually track it for ideal accurate tracking don’t rely on the photo taking and barcode scanning
