What people like

What they complain about

Better Photos, Period
For better photos that are not over-processed, this is the camera app to own. Gladly paid for it, and using it for months now. Many film styles to try out, and can be set up to just point-and-shoot, without having to overwork photos later. Learning how to use this app is fun, like finding a new camera to try out, and understanding its capabilities and limitations. The developer is dedicated, constantly improving the app and listening to customers. I expect to keep using mood.camera for years to come. Highly recommended!
Bad
Focus issues on 16 pro
Fun, unique
This is a fun, unique app with a great UI design, and the option to create custom looks. The developer is committed to creating a great photography app, and has successfully done so.
Great point and shoot… but bad for some quick memories!
I get the philosophy of “revealing” your choice of look only in post, and I am all for it. But not having the option to save the raw file has wasted many good memories.
Interesting & fun
I’ve been using the Mood app for a while and overall it’s fun. My main issues with it are I wish it allowed saving the files in a RAW format so I could process them in Lightroom CC to help get looks neither tool produces natively. I wish the button for flipping to selfie can was down the bottom like it is in the main iPhone camera app as I often switch between both modes. I also wish there was a manual focus dial as the autofocus often struggles when I’m trying to do photos through glass etc. I applaud what the dev is trying to do and hope to see the app continue to grow.
Makes IPhone Photography Fun
Fun, and easy to use app for those that want to try alternative looks and film simulations.
Scam app
The application is initially free, the developer indicated that there is no "In-app purchase" in this free application. But when you download this application, it turns out that you have to activate the trial subscription period for 7 days, and then switch to a regular subscription.
Love this app
Made me fall in love with my iPhone camera again. Very nice depth to the settings, as a professional photographer myself, I love how I can get amazing pictures very simply through this app. A nice addition would be to have a Mood a widget so we could access the app directly from the lock screen. There’s also a white line of pixels that appears on the side of the pictures when I post them on other social networks, not sure what you can do about it.
😱 Whouaaaa 😱
The best ‘filmic’ camera app bar none
Great processing, great film modes, lots of customizations if you want to go that route, and a fantastic developer who is very active in Reddit.
Updated
[Edit 2] Seemed to be working after the latest update, but it’s back as soon as I try to use the camera when I don’t have an internet connection. Uninstalled.
99% there
The BEST film simulation app there is. But I REALLY wish there was an option for double exposure. Dev pls make this happen.
nonpopups
Pls don’t interrupt trying to take a photo with a dumb what’s new ad. If I cared I would check the update notes
Need a bit of polish
Great app which has the potential to be even great. One annoying thing is that changing filters doesn’t apply it to the live preview, it’s when you’ve taken the image you get to see the results.
A must have for iPhone users!
This app is made with love and it shows. Give it a try, and you won’t be disappointed! ps. The option of a lifetime purchase is a plus!
Completely useless free tier
There’s a line between giving a preview and cutting off basic functionality. This crosses it. If the free version only exists for a quick tease, it should be made obvious upfront. The developer made sure you don’t get to have a slight bit of fun once it runs out unlike other apps
best simulation but missing something
i love mood camera. , the kind of simulation and results it provides is just mesmerising, this was my first ever purchase of any app in my life , but everything has it pros and cons , if only along with simulation, it gave us access to mannual controls like , shutter speed , iso , focus and wb etc, it would have been my blinded replacement for my fujifilm
Exciting, until it wasn’t anymore
I was super happy to get an App for my older phone simulating images from my fujifilm. I was stoked to use it. THEN, I noticed there‘s a 7-day-trial to it. After it ends I’m unable to use them anymore and asked to get yet ANOTHER subscription for $1.99/month… or pay $17.99 once for lifetime access.
Awesome camera app but
Awesome app which takes exceptional shots but processing time is too slow i wish we could have a preview option before taking any photo.
The best getting better
Wonderful app that is a lot of fun, keeps getting better!
Stay away
Haha this app got famous for being excellent with no Abo. Guess what … after using it for a while, there now is an Abo and I got set on 7 days free trial. Sad, but just another greedy app, again. It was nice for how long it lasted.
Almost perfect!
Everything about this app is perfect. The only feature that I would love to see is live previewing. I have 13 mini, in same lighting condition at times a simulation works, at times it doesn’t. It would be such a great feature to live preview how the photo would look like with that simulation.
From Passion to Profit
I used to enjoy this app a lot. You could take photos for free, customize them however you wanted, and choose your filters freely. It was simple, creative, and driven by passion. Now, adding a payment system and blocking filters that were originally free feels absurd. I’m a real photography enthusiast, and I was genuinely happy to find an app that seemed to be built around passion. Now, it feels like everything is just about money. I completely understand that a company needs to make money to survive and grow. But there’s a difference between smart monetization and taking away the core features that made people love the app in the first place. A better approach would have been to keep the basic features free and introduce new premium filters as paid options. Instead, it feels like something has been taken away from us. Honestly, this change takes away the soul of the app.
Good app but there is room for improvement
A fantastic app that gives your photos a more natural look and more soul than the stock iOS camera. However, I noticed that the app is quite heavy and even on iPhones that can easily handle multiple photo inputs in sequence on other photography apps (14 Pro Max). The app tends to heat the phone up a lot and "boil it" and in my experience with multiple close-up shots there is the problem that the app is very slow in processing the photos taken and prevents you from taking the next shot thus missing the perfect moment for a photo. It's a shame, I hope that on newer iPhones, even if a 14PM is still capable of good performance today, the app is able to guarantee better photographic performance.
Highly addictive 😄
I took 500+ photos within the first days of using mood camera. Now I occasionally use the default camera app and my action button is configured to open the mood app.
not unable to open camera on the app
not satisfied
Love it!
I really enjoy using this app. great work! However, I’ve noticed that it seems to consume quite a bit of battery. Would it be possible to look into optimizing the app for better battery efficiency?
Disappointed
Can't edit photos already taken, only the ones you take from app camera directly
Not working on iPhone SE
I use my iPhone SE first gen as my quick snap portable camera. But the app is crashing when I tap the shutter button. Please fix it.
Fun & Beautiful
One of the most fun film emulation app for IOS. The possibilities are endless and the results are simply stunning!
Nicht benutzen!!
Meine Kamera ist dadurch kaputt gegangen
Fun to use. But, App crash
I’ve used many apps that mimics film / digital cam. But this app turns to be one of the best among all. Bought premium membership as well. But in portrait mode app crash and close every time after shutter click.
No option to import old photos
I respect the developer position on this, but it put the app behind competitors nonetheless.
Great app
Incredible app, and that new constant app updates are all incredible
not in the mood !!!
don’t buy it, unfortunately, camera crashes each time you press the shutter ; i own hundreds of apps, it’s the only one which behaves like this…
Issue with the shadow
I use this app for normal photos also. But from the latest update i'm having issues with the shadows.
dznutsz
i love the app filters i prefer using this over than other simulator apps but too much cost to pay just you can use the filter you like, its so random especially when the photo is good but the filter nah jusy random
Retro camera app that feels illegal
Absolutely loving the retro nostalgia. If i were a smartphone manufacturer, i would buy this app and put it on the product. I love using it every single day. I wish the owner would keep some features free after the trial. This is so good that it feels illegal.
Terrible filters
Free version uses random filters with max values making your pics unusable. You can’t also import from gallery.
Camera bug
Focus issue with tele lens on iPhone 16 pro
Cool but too expensive overall
The app itself is cool and the pictures come out looking quite nice. I think the total price is too much for what it is for me and can't really justify buying it. If there were an option to buy a single filter I would consider it since that's what I mostly used during the trial.
I Can’t Say Enough
This app makes taking photos on a phone fun. Oh yeah, and they look incredible. Full of life, not over processed, and a joy to use. The app interface is well thought through and easy to learn. Go get it.
How to edit photos from camera roll.
Great app, but i can't find a way to edit my camera roll photos, how can i do it?
Awsome but HEIF files generates are poor quality
Love everything about this camera but low quality files really let it down. There should be an option for hq files that take advantage of 48mb sensor on iphone 14/15 pro max.
