Can’t use the new AstroShader
Used to take T-CrB (mag 12) nova everyday, while weather permits in the past more than a year. Ever since after version update, since late June., the updated app can not produce good enough picture. Can you provide the older version such as the 1.0.38, the version just before the v1.2.0, so that I can continue to picture the T-CrB. Thank you.
Save doesn’t work
When I try to press save on iPhone 13 Pro nothing at all happens even when I tested it on an extremely basic image with no editing

Hi guys! Great app! Love it. I’ve got some great photos, but have a few suggestions… Forst of all, where can I select dark flat and light frames??? Could you implement that as a SEPRATE setting? It’s convenient as is, but would also love full manual as an option. Also, could you select where in the exposure are that you want to stack based off? Otherwise a great app! Would encourage! Now it’s no Nicon and telescope, but it gets the job done. Would benefit from a good tutorial… just saying. Can’t emphasize how game changing this was and still is! Have a good day!
Malfunction in app on iPhone XR
The app works well but as soon as I try taking a photo, the app just closes by itself and glitches out. It also lags my phone Only works under 10 exposures :(
I can’t take clear pictures of the planets anymore, yet it still works a bit
I used to be able to take good clear shots of all the planets with this app such as Jupiter and Saturn. Nowadays, whenever I try to do Saturn again in the morning, it would often appear very blurry no matter how hard I try to change the settings in the app. But it would work for some of the other planets such as Mars, Neptune, and Uranus. Sometimes even Venus too. I’m curious if there is a specific setting besides changing the ISO and exposure time to make them clear again or if there needs to be some additional update to compensate for this problem. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do because I want to take clear photos of the planets with my telescope like I once did before. Thank you so much for your understanding. And please fix it to make it the same good old version again. I beg you developers, please!
Please restore unlimited RAW capture
Please remove the 1000-image limit. Previous versions allowed unlimited RAW capture. I use AstroShader for deep-sky imaging and stack thousands of RAW frames in Siril. This new limit breaks my existing workflow. Please restore the previous behavior.
Ruined by update
Before AstroShader was reliable and a general great app to use. Now the update made iso so DAMN SENSITIVE, they RUINED THE UI, you need to scroll so much more now, and you don’t display the time anymore. Now every time I need to check the time I have to exit the app and what do you know? All my settings get erased. WHY DID YOU REMOVE SAVING?? Now I need to spend 3 more minutes changing settings with ultra sensitive and huge ui. And when I try to screen record? FREAKING ERASED AGAIN. WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO YOUR PERFECT APP??? ATP just use the default camera 🥀
Save feature
Worked great, but saving file after each round of pics causes vibration. I wish I could set that up beforehand and make it automatic. That way I could use remote to start next round and never touch phone.

Very good app, but need bug fixes, astroshader can only be used 1 time and the rest of the taken pictures from then on are all black

Update
The last update broke the app for me, all the pictures I take are just completely black, no matter how much light is in the picture. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Almost Perfect
The apps work great and the processing settings are excellent. But I have noticed the app doesn’t utilize the full resolution of iPhones with >12 MP cameras. Even using the main camera of an iPhone 15 pro, all images are 12 MP when it should be at least up to 24 MP.
Buggy on 17 Pro
Great app and have had wonderful results in previous years, but extremely buggy on iPhone 17 Pro. Frequent crashes right before the image capture is finalised! Nowhere to provide feedback or to contact developer through app…
Only use for taking pictures
The automatic stacking is diabolical for untracked photos. Doesn’t align stars if untracked. I’ll just be putting the images I take into sequator to stack instead

Awesome, powerful; useless
Camera locks up after a certain amount of time requiring a phone restart, which makes it sort of useless in the field at night on a small mount. iPhone 17, iOS 26.2.1
Great, remote support would be good
This app is amazing! Primary issue is that when I touch the screen to capture, it causes instability. I bought a remote that works over Bluetooth, but it expects the volume down button to map to the “capture” button to work. If you could program support for volume down to capture image like the built in iPhone camera utility does, that would make my four stars a five star review! Also, there’s no other way to contact the developer, other than to post this request in the review section. For the record, this app worked better than I expected! I love the preview feature when it starts building a stacked view in real time, which helped to verify I was on target before the actual capture.
Does not support wide camera on iPhone 16 iOS 26.
Can only shoot with the main camera, does nothing when choosing ultra wide mode which is important for astrophotography. Also, the wide camera sensor has a larger pixel size which should be able to capture more light. Please developers put this on your bug fix list! Thank you!
Works fine for single captures, crashes on multiple
Multiple attempts to capture multiple 30s exposures. Works fine for 1, anytime I try to select more than 2 the app crashes
1 Year later…
It’s been 1 year since I used this app, and my experience was overall amazing. There has been some bugs, but these new updates are getting increasingly better. I love to see this getting updated more, and I hope the developer keeps making this better. I have gotten some amazing pictures from AstroShader, and I will continue to use this app. Definitely 5 stars!

App crashes when trying to use any of the features.
iPhone 16 Pro
Hello, I really use to enjoy using this app on my iPhone 13, however since upgrading to the iPhone 16 Pro my screen will either go black while still being able to access the settings. Or the camera works fine but won’t take a photo. I contacted Apple and they suggested I reach out to you about this issue. Is this a known issue so far with the new phones with AstroShader or will there be a new update coming out to fix this?

Amazing app with a few yet annoying problems
As the other review says it has tracking problems when any objects are in the shot and my main concern is the application crashing when you swap to a different app this is very annoying when trying to use digital star maps. Edit: Also made me miss imaging comet C/2025 Lemmon when the app would nonstop crash no matter what I did. Good app with many annoying bugs

WHO THE FREAK MADE THIS?
So I download this app and thought that this app can help me get better photos since now I’m an astrophotographer and I’ve been waiting days to try this because I’m trying to wait for a clear sky in my area. I try this and this app doesn’t make any sense. so whoever made the seconds, area, please fix it because one I’m trying to make it to 30 seconds instead it looks like it’s gonna take 30 hours. and second, I’m trying so hard to think is it 30.000, and the other part is the exposure which doesn’t make any sense either because I’m trying to make it at 50 photos stacked, but I don’t know why it says saving on my photos which is why and this app clearly said and I heard from a person talking about this that it does it for you by stacking the images for you. Somebody please fix this I think it’s a bug.
Great app! One issue
This app is the greatest free astrophotography on the market by far. The UI is easy, and it takes amazing photos when used right. One issue. The thing crashes when taking long (like 40 sec+) exposures. After a certain amount of time it just kinda quits. Still an amazing app, and I would absolutely recommend to others!
Very annoying pink tint
Using and iPhone 13 Mini and just get completely solid pink or white photos no matter the settings at night. During the day it just shows up as normal photos but with an extremely pink tint. Please fix!
AstroShader with a telescope
While the standard iPhone app is better for full night and landscape shots, it’s not what this app is meant for in my opinion. This app works best when using a telescope, as the standard iPhone camera app has no stacking software, so there would be large star trails if you try to take a long exposure on the standard app. Excels at taking photos with quite a lot of stars, and nebulas.
Doesn’t work
I have an iPhone 14 Pro and when I open the app, it immediately closes. I’ve restarted my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled it. I went to the “support” page and nothing on there will open nor do I see contact info. Good thing it’s free!
It needs to be a little functions.
In my opinion I think that it is missing some more functions. Such as automatic white balance, iso, and exposure time. If you could make it set the white balance by what filter you are using. Also the app really need’s better editing and the ability to stack photos manually and automatically aligned stacking. But this is a very good app for of what it is and it has so much potential. Thank you for reading and please make these features!
Almost happy
AstroShader exposure can not be triggered remotely with a Bluetooth trigger device (instead, sound volume goes up or down). Other than this the delay trigger helps prevent some wobble (but not all). Overall the app helps clean up telescope images somewhat. A stacking/overlay function might also be helpful. The functional layout is great.
dead devolper
Keep updating the app. It has so much potential and i’m new to Astrophotography. I don’t want nothing bad to happen to this app. So much feature Astroshader has and i thank you for that.
Unstable
When you choose and try to download a photo to edit from your saved Photos app, this app just shuts down. It Probably needs a fix and updating, otherwise it’s pretty useless at downloading and editing photos in your photo library.
Great free app, needs Apple Watch trigger
Very cool app but operability with the Apple Watch would make framing and triggering a lot more convenient.
No merging.
There doesn't seem to be a way merge the stacked photos. The point of taking multiple pictures in low light, which is a key feature in this app, is to combine them into a single picture to multiply the light gathered by several images.
Great app but one thing I seem to have a problem with
This app is great and useful for astrophotography. What I seem to be having trouble with is that whenever there’s a tree in the view of the camera, the app starts focusing on the tree rather than the sky itself, and continues to stack pictures on top of the trees. This same thing can be said to anything close to you or slightly into the distance poking into the frame. So if this problem were to be solved, it would be great.
Ceased to work
I’ve just updated the latest version on my iPhone 16PM today. Unfortunately still doesn’t work. Automatically crashes as soon as you open it.
great app with a few bugs
the app is simple and straightforward. the ui is easy to navigate and it shows you the important stuff without obstructing the viewfinder. the first few tries have worked extremely well on my 14PM, with andromeda galaxy visible in a bortle 6 area, but recently, the images have become blurry and low res. the first attempt got me 12MP but now i get a resolution of some 192x256, which isnt even 1MP. it happened when i turned on pixel binning and left the phone outside for about 10 mins in subzero (34F) temperatures. pls fix this since im really looking forward to seeing this app succeed
Worked good, but crashes on my 15 Pro
I used this on my iPhone X and got some pretty impressive photos for what it was, but I upgraded to the 15 Pro and now the app crashes whenever I start it.
Photo stacking
I’ll be honest, I would pay money (and I’m assuming other people would as well) to be able to have your app stack imported photos…I only have an iPhone and iPad Pro, and the lack of non-computer based stacking applications makes me super sad. :’-(

Great app. Would get 5stars if there was an apple watch app
This is a great app but the one thing I wish it had was the ability to remote trigger from my apple watch. I can do this with the iphones built in camera app but not with astroshader. I would prefer not to touch the phone and cause any vibration. At least there is a delay you can use but an apple watch app would make this perfect
Good app overall, but one bug that I cannot seem to fix.
This app works well, apart from it randomly crashing on you. But this is not what this review is about, for some reason, I can only take one second exposures at a time. I don’t know if I messed something up but that is the max I can take no matter what. If this is a bug, please fix! If it’s some feature, please help me turn it off, thanks!!
