I Use This App to Teach My Students!
I teach Milky Way and Landscape photography on my western workshops, and find this to be the best app for producing star trails images. It’s all the most versatile app! Hoping it remains available to my students!
Keeps shutting down
Attempting to use the stacker on an iPhone 13 Pro Max. App continues to shutdown when you begin to stack. Not many options out there for an iPhone to stack.

Worked for about a week
Worked perfectly well for a couple of compositions and then suddenly, boom! Crashes every time I attempt to stack the images after choosing the ones I needed. Wasn’t sure how to contact the developer as no website listed unless I’m missing something. Noticed it’s not been updated for a couple of years so the developer should take it off sale or update it more regularly to work with future iOS updates. Be happy for you to allow me to send some logs if available so we can get it working? If no updates forthcoming I’ll request a refund.
Crashes but decent
Pretty good for a mobile app and does what it says. However, it does tend to crash a lot making it hard to use consistently. I would also love the ability to align the stars across all shots to create one image with very clear stars would be amazing, I think there is currently no apps that do that for mobile.
Simple Program without much documentation
The program seems to have little to no documentation on use and or file formats it can work with. It stacked almost 300 jpegs, but gave me no options as to what I could do to improve the blend mode or appearance of the star trails. The program did stack the images, but Adobe Lightroom did most of the heavy lifting in prepping the images. I guessed that jpegs would work as it would not allow me to select raw files. I give it a 3 Star rating which is a C as it is about as basic as it gets in stacking and does not assist the user in getting more out of the program to achieve a archival finished image. I would only recommend this program for the hobbits who has low expectations and just wants to stack frames.
Doesn’t work on my iPhone
Used this app on others iPhones and worked well. I buy it and it will not upload any of my photos no matter what I do ( well it will upload and work if I limit to only a few photos but what good is that when I have 1000 overnight photos? I have done more than 1000 photos before on another iPhone no problem)…wasted my money. And yes I have full access given to Star Stacker for my photos. So frustrating. I also can’t find support to help.
Good and useful
The app is good and useful especially the video import and export part. Reason why I put only 4 star because the help info to explain different options of stacking is missing. Also the speed of stacking is slow as compared with other star stacking apps.
can't select photos
Follow directions very carefully. I didn't see this: "For best results, allow access to all photos. If you allow access to specific photos, you must only select these same photos from the photo picker." I selected "specific photos" bu I can't actually select ANY photos now and there appears to be no way to go back and select "all photos". And "contact me" doesn't work to ask for help. The only way I can see around this is to delete the app and pay for it again. Why even have the "specific photos" option if it doesn't work?

I can’t load more than 60 photos for stacking…. I used to love this app

I’m a astrophotography hobbyist since 2009 with my Canon T1i, 2014 Canon 70D, and since 2023 with my Canon R5. Widefield astrophotography allows creativity, capturing foreground with sky objects. Stat Stacker is a great tool for the any astrophotographer. Mike Rosinski, located SE Michigan, USA

Crashes
The app instantly crashes instantly when I try to render video using the 'individual' mode, which is the mode I was interested in. I'm using 75 high resolution .tiff files. I tried changing all the other settings. I tried only selecting a few images.. it still crashes the app immediately. Be happy to change my review if we can figure it out! Cheers
It needs to be suitable for astrophotography
The Idea of the app is good but For it to be worth the money and not have things that meet the astrophotographers needs? The app needs manual stacking and editing software for it to be suitable to be used for astrophotography. For both planetary and deep sky objects. Really cool app
Super easy to use and love the trail options and the option to create a short star trail video. Overall really happy that I got this app. I am using the GoPro 10 to take the night photos.

Can’t find how to delete and start again as I upload a wrong photo and it stacted it on a photo I had started with :(
Just Amazing
I got this app yesterday when I figured out how to do a star trail. I am so happy I got this! I used Night Lapse Photo from my GoPro and it was the easiest thing to do on my iPad. Really enjoyed the photos being stacked and seeing the progression. I am so happy with this app I highly recommend!!

I don’t like paying for apps. I rarely do. Tonight I got this one, and I don’t regret it. Easily stacked 130 images, and result makes me want to get out there and take more pictures. To the creators of this app, thank you!
Won't work on my MacBook Pro
I try to add images and it immediately crashes on my MacBook Pro, iOS Sonoma 14.0.
Simple to use and great results
I have been collecting Star-stacking apps for years. They are often complex, quirky and give mixed results. (They might give great results but I've never been able to figure out how to use them) Some have been around for years but don't run on Apple Silicon. Here's an app that's reasonably priced, gives great results and is easy to use. The bonus is that is runs on Apple Silicon Macs, iPads and iPhones. Great combination. I am very happy with this app. Well done.
4 bucks for it not to work

Where has THIS been all my (picture taking) life?
So I’ve been using StarStax most of my star trail taking years. I happen to be in Ireland, next door to the most amazing ruins of a Franciscan Friary. The clouds actually went away, rare for Ireland, so I grabbed my camera and set it up for a couple hours to shoot star trails, thinking I’d have to wait to get home to stack them all together. Then I saw this app, and it’s AWESOME! Love the JPEG and MOV options and I’ve been playing around with different sets of images for the past few days. Way to go creating this app, and well worth the reasonable cost. Gone are the days I have to lug my laptop around to see the payoff of a long night of picture taking…thanks!
