Great Service
Excelent and very efficient way to send money abroad
Utterly utterly awful
Extremely frustrating experience My experience with Wise has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. I transferred a substantial amount of my own money through Wise to Thailand. I fully understand that Wise has a responsibility to verify the source of funds, but the process has become a complete circus. I have spent hours providing bank statements from three banks, payslips, tax returns, rental income evidence, pension verification, savings evidence, and UK, Chinese and Norwegian bank statements. Despite this, I have been repeatedly asked for more documents and, incredibly, for information I have already provided. There seems to be no coordination and nobody can clearly tell me what will finally satisfy their requirements. The delays caused serious problems with my Thai visa and banking arrangements and have caused an unbelievable amount of stress. I have cooperated throughout and provided extensive evidence. After this experience, I simply cannot recommend Wise for transferring substantial amounts of money internationally.

Best exchange rate available, fast and efficient. A lower transaction fee could make it more attractive to use on a regular basis.

It was difficult to upload my passport
It took me about 12 times to upload my passport as each time it gave errors. After reinstall twice and get help from the helpdesk, it started working. After that is was easy to send money with the app.

You have taken liberties with holding my money while you “ check “ my details. I am awaiting approval of £2000 transfer from my credit card plus payment of ££2000 from my wise account to the my bank - while you check the payment. Previously payments took minutes to go through now they take at least 24 hours!! I’m seriously upset at your delays, Richar Evans
Wise’s Tax Return Information.
Historically Wise has produced information to assist with tax returns shortly after 5th April. This year they announced that this information would not be available until 15th July, then 30th July, then 31st August now 2nd November. This raises questions about deeper issues and the reliability of previous information. The accounts concerned are not straightforward interest bearing accounts and only Wise can produce the income and capital gains information required for tax returns.

I have moved money with wise over the last 10 years on a regular basis. Always good value and always fast and efficient. On the very few occasions I’ve needed support its been there immediately

Cba leaving a big review. Brick & Mortar Banks is the only way to go. Somewhere you can walk in and sort the problems. It’s very unlikely that they will shut your accounts and hold your money for a month. Nice one Wise. Thanks for closing my accounts and holding my funds for no reason 👍

Very disappointing experience with Wise after around 7 years as a customer
My account was suddenly closed without any clear explanation, despite being used legitimately for many years. I am a medical professional earning over £100,000 a year and had a significant amount of money held in several currencies. I now have to submit an appeal which can take up to 30 working days, while access to my funds remains restricted. I find the lack of transparency and the length of this process extremely frustrating. Based on my experience, I would not recommend keeping significant funds with Wise. I would personally consider alternatives UK based banks such as Revolut or iFAST Global Bank, which I have found more professional and competitive for currency exchange.

Slow transfers
It says that it’s sending your money, you believe the app and then after a day or two nothing arrives. So you check your app again to see why and there’s a message saying that it’s held up at review and it needs some more information. Revolut is much better than Wise.

So easy to set up, with really excellent customer service! I used this card in Colombia for the first time, and within minutes I got a notification showing exactly how much I’d spent in GBP. It’s far better than my regular bank card—plus there are no unexpected or hidden charges. Highly recommend—thank you!

Unreasonable pauses in service
After being a client of this bank for 4 years and fully compliant with my documents, they still temporarily blocked my account for three weeks (so far) for additional checks without letting me know in advance and without asking for any documents or way to speed up the checks or even ETAs

Becoming clunky & unreliable
It sucks right now. When I first started using the Wise app it worked perfectly. Now, every time I try to add money from my bank account, it starts with “let’s get your bank account reconnected”. Why was it disconnected? Every time now! Then we go through the whole Flink runaround going back & forth between the Wise app, my banking app and Flink. At the end of it all, it errors out with “unable to verify the bank account is mine, please upload bank statement, blah, blah. All this to add $400 so that I can send money to a family member. Think I’m going to try doing transfers directly from my bank account

Poor support for people with pressing questions such as “ where is an incoming transfer?” AI might help.

I had the chance to speak to an engineer at this company named Dominiqué recently and he gave me a full in depth tour of the app and I must say I am impressed. Coming from nation wide the difference is Nite n Day

The exchange rates fluctuate, which is understandable, but Wise’s fees seem to fluctuate too—and the more money you send, the higher the fee becomes. Most people pay attention to the exchange rate and may not notice how much the fee has changed. I recently tried to repeat the same transaction I had made before. Even though the exchange rate had moved in my favour, the recipient would actually receive less money because the fee was higher this time. That’s frustrating. If the exchange rate goes against me, I lose because of the rate; if it moves in my favour, the higher fee can wipe out the benefit. I think Wise should be more transparent and consistent about how its fees change
