A decent reader for HN
This has been a great daily reader for HN. I’ve never logged in through it, but the read only experience is excellent. The design is clean and highly readable, looks great on my OLED screen.
Latest update sucks
The app's latest update sucks. I only want to copy the link but it keeps copying the thread title alongside the URL which is so frickin annoying. Please remove this and return it to the way it was. I only want to copy the URL, not the superfluous text. I’ll change my review to 5 stars otherwise.
Cool app
It is a nice looking app, pretty simple. One request I have is if it’s possible to show the actual post instead of just the title
Doesn’t work on iPad
Not able to see the comments on iPad.. mobile is perfect but wish iPad worked well
Good reader
Can’t seem to login to my account even after resetting my password. No VPN on either. Otherwise, it’s a good app.
Beautiful UI
This app looks absolutely gorgeous and so native in iOS 26, could’ve fooled me that Apple made it. Huge props to the dev!
Broke a few months back
This app no longer loads comments and just says can’t connect to hackers news. Been going on for months. I’ve moved on.
Almost perfect
Missing feature: replies!
No reason to use
Worse than the mobile version of HN
Nice overall with small complaint
Very nice app, looks very polished with black mode. One problem — the app is too sensitive to sideways movements when scrolling up or down. This results in either the left or night options being pulled from the side rather than actually scrolling. I’ve never experienced this on another app so don’t feel it’s just the way I scroll? It enough creates minor friction with enough frequency to move to another app unfortunately.
Reliable
Simple and reliable. Thank you for no ads.

Beautiful design; missing features
This app is only a reader. It’s a good reader, but that’s all it does. There seems to be no features for making posts or comments, so if all you want to do is lurk, this app is fine
Used to be good, but…
Killed iOS 14 compatibility in a bugfix release, now requires iOS 15 just to have a critical bug fixed. You could fix it for iOS 14 And release iOS 15 only version after that. No good attitude.
Nice UI, but hugely frustrating scroll
When you’re scrolling comments it keeps opening the swipe left/right menu, meaning you need to be very careful with how you scroll thereby removing the focus from actually reading
Unnecessary permissions
Recently it requested permission to connect to other devices on my network, this is completely unacceptable for an app like this. I can only assume this is for invasive and intrusive analytics and telemetry gathering, which is very gross. This app would otherwise get a five star.
No posts loading
No posts loading again
Simple and to the point
It’s very useful but lacks some features.
Potential but slow
Comments load slowly
Used to be good, lately very buggy!
This app was almost perfect, and a great way to read and interact with hacker news.. However lately it’s been a mess. The share link it’s getting duplicated and finicky. The recent issues loading post and the bug “fixes” don’t seem to be working (it’s still not loading for me) has sent me off to find something else.
Honey I swear, it’s not Hinge!
Great app. Just be careful using it late at night!
It’s not loading
Blank page
Good... but
I really like the design and usability of the app. However I just really wish there was a place where I could save submissions for reading later.
There are better options
This app seems to lack many of the essential components an app like this should have. Some examples: - ability to comment - ability to favourite posts As well as this, the sensitivity of the sliding gestures is too high and makes going through comments more difficult than it should be.
Great app but it’s broken right now
It won’t load any results.
cozy app to browse hacker news
W updates keep it going man thank you.
Janky and unreliable
The app works well about 50% of the time, the rest is one of the worst apps I’ve ever used. Full of UX bugs and terrible network handling.
Where is best?
Would easily be the best HN app if it had the best feed!
Recently bugged comments
Most of the comments are recently (past month or so) filled with junk markup. Makes comment section unreadable.
One big flaw
If you want to open an article’s comment page in a web browser (eg. to post a comment, bookmark it, etc), you have to go through a weirdly long series of manual steps: tap the share button, tap “Hacker News link”, and then wait several mysterious seconds (even on an iPhone 12 Pro) until the share options appear. Then you tap ‘Copy’, then manually open your browser and paste the link and visit the site. It’s very odd. And it’s even worse if you want to open a specific comment, as the app doesn’t offer a way to go straight to a comment, so you have to manually find the comment on the web after completing the above steps. It’s a great app in most other ways. I just find the above issue significantly annoying, to the point that I really resent using the app. I wonder if it’s a deliberate design decision aiming to reduce reactionary outrage comments, by forcing people to ‘take a breath’? If that’s the intent, I think it has the opposite effect on me, because I’m not taking a breath when I’m jumping through hoops.
Literally the best Hacker News app
It’s not even a contest. This is it.
No pocket support
Not the best reading experience as advertised
Great but...
Needs full commenting.
Broken and buggy
Doesn't work well on iOS 7, animations are flickr ring and it's almost unusable.
Simple but name is misleading
I’m looking for a more specific ‘Hacker’ or ‘Cyber security’ based news app to keep track of recent issues to learn with them and keep up to date as a whole. This platform seems to have a very broad selection of topics which are not in this field.
Fantastic reader
Simply the best hacker news reader available on iOS. I can’t recommend it enough :)
Great
It is great to view. I wish it had a way to comment and vote.
Links are weird
Nice app, however frustrated with that links open if you touch them while scrolling.
Exactly what I was looking for
I don’t write a review often but when I do it’s because I either really like something or I really don’t like it. In this case, this app is what I needed: simple, easy to use, and free/no ads. You should get it now if you’re on the fence.
Quite good! Need a way to control font size.
Font size can be too big (I’m on a Xs Max).
Bug with links in comments
Since the last update, the slightest tap & scroll will trigger URLs to open in the comments view. Also, the slide to upvote triggers mistakenly when all I want to do is scroll down the list of comments. Please make it optional!! Otherwise great app
Excellent
My favorite way to browse HN by far. One kind of annoying thing: tapping on a link inside of a comment will immediately open the link in a different view, even if I’m just trying to scroll past it and accidentally tap on it. I think it should probably open the link only if you tap and release on the tap target, not just tap. Forgive me if I’m explaining it strangely.
Not bad
Nice interface, clean and simple to use. My only gripe is that I cannot log in to comment or post stories via this app, which makes it more of a newspaper than a forum.
Almost ready for iOS 13
Dark mode is awesome but doesn’t follow the system and it would be great to have contextual menus with haptic touch. Other a pretty solid app with loads of potential
