Better than a metronome

I’ve had this app for a bunch of years, and it’s great to be able to adjust the BPM. The selection of genres keeps me from getting bored and the mixes are well done. I’m surprised by the lack of recent reviews, so I thought I’d leave one. Most people I talk to have never heard of this app, which is a shame!

Great Variety- Interface Needs Work

Great variety of upbeat playlists for fitness coaches. However, the most recent update has removed the ability to preview songs on each playlist, which is not ideal for selecting appropriate playlists for classes. PLEASE revert back or update the interface to be more user friendly!

Not for iOS 16

My iPhone 8+ cannot go past iOS 16, & the adjustable BPM in this app (the WHOLE reason I got it) does not work on this device. Tap the adjustment up to 110BPM & it matches, for that moment. But then tap the “Set” then “Set & Play” & the music immediately drops back to too slow for the pace I’m trying to maintain (while recovering from STEMI). Also, iPhone itself is accurately tracking Steps Per Minute, but this app under-reports significantly. The DJ work seems fantastic. The tech fails completely.

It gets me through, when legs are dying…

I find this app great. When I start to tire, put it on and it keeps me going during training or races. However, recently, my Shokz Open Runs can no longer control the music. I cannot pause or skip. Please address and get back to being a 5 star experience especially as this is a paid subscriber.

I have been using Rock My Run for over 7 years now and I have loved it the entire time! They have the best mixes out there for pretty much any activity. I use them for running, working out and even studying. Thank you so much for continuing to keep the app updated over the years!

Ridiculous & Disrespectful!

This app is a freaking mess, I wanted to listen to my music in peace while doing any workouts, but no, you guys had to charge me $79 almost $80 almost $100, the worst is that you guys will charge some money if they have enough balance for one they bought it like I did after the two week subscription, I recommend you guys don't get this app, because I was forced to almost buy this thing instead of listening to music in peace, TOTAL MASSIVE RIP OFF! 👎 😠

Great until the May update

Update: sound issue is now fixed!!!! Previous review: Any percussion now just sounds like farts. I was really happy with the app until the music quality tanked with the May update. I thought my ear buds were broken, but it’s just the music on the app. Very disappointed.

Went from 10 ⭐️ to 2 after I bought a lifetime membership

When I bought this, you could skip as much as you liked. They also had the artists and song titles listed for the entire playlist. This provides better information when selecting playlists. Combined with the limited skips, removing the song title list significantly degrades the usability of this app. Sometimes I find I don’t care for the first several songs and then it gets good. Now I can no longer jump ahead. So in a 3 hour playlist, maybe I prefer than last hour but I can no longer get there. It also seems like some songs have been removed from some of my favorite playlists though the playlist is still there. I know I contacted them about the skips change and was told this was a licensing requirement. Given these restrictions, $8 a month (which I saw someone say was their cost) isn’t a reasonable price point.

Good running music, poor app experience

I used the android version last year and really enjoyed it, it really helped energize my runs. I ended up canceling it then because the playlists began to feel repetitive and too similar for the cost after a while. I wanted a little more motivation on my runs recently and now have an iPhone so I figured I’d try it again. I don’t know if it’s my phone or my cell provider, but it was a terrible experience. The first 30 minutes the app was great, but then it kept crashing and I wouldn’t be able to change playlists mid run unless I completely killed the app and reopened it. There is no option to download playlists if you sometimes have spotty service like me. It will just keep trying to load the next song, glitch out and tell you there are no more skips left even if you didn’t skip songs. It then appears to play the same 4 songs that are cached no matter what playlist I select. Good music though! Try it, if the app works correctly for you and you have decent signal it is worth it.

Best workout music

Ever get tired of choosing a song to workout to? This solves that and so much more. I’ve been a lifetime member since 2015 and love the variety of pop/ dance/ edm mixes that can be slowed and sped up to meet your pace. Really awesome app that keeps workouts interesting!

Stupid watch app

I specifically tried this app so that I could leave my phone behind while I go on my workouts. C25K uses Rock My Run and can't play music through your watch, so you have to either carry your phone so you can hear the interval instructions or use your watch, which supposedly gives you better tracking information, and forego the music. I tried downloading this app to see if maybe it would close the gap, but it doesn't. What is the point of having a running music app for your watch that doesn't actually play music through your watch?

Like the Music - Distance Tracking Way Off

While the music element of the app is great for a run, the metrics are all way off as it incorrectly lengthens the distance traveled. The worst disparity happened today when my run was .7 miles longer in Rock My Run than it was in my other running app. I mapped the distance in Google maps and Rock My Run is the app that got it way wrong. Hence, your pace, steps, etc are all incorrect to.

Overall, love the music selection and the search function to get what I want. However, the app is slow to react when you want to search or play. It crashes A LOT. I thought it was an iPad issue, but it crashes on my iPhone as well. It did on my XR and now my 13.

Missing some key features

I like the selection and filter of playlist. I wish you could see the full length of the playlist and how much time is left in the given playlist. I use this app and FITRADIO to teach group fitness, and it would make the app better than FITRADIO if it could add that feature! Instead, it just shows a total running time for how long you’ve listened to music, no matter if you change playlists!

I can’t play a song from the beginning especially if I’m pumped to run a marathon, so it starts in the middle of a song. Disappointing that you can’t use the app with the Apple Watch to play music. It’s only a remote to control the music on your phone. It’s OK app

It’s an OK app for the moms out there going to Orange Theory but there are needed improvements to get to a useable level. 1. The UI for this app needs improvement. Sometimes the app is slow to respond, buttons get obscured by popups, it’s hard to really understand what music you’re going to load up and due to licensing you can’t cycle through songs even with a paid subscription like, say, pandora. 2. Like I said, this is tailored for mass audiences like single mom going to spin class. Totally understandable but because of that target demographic you won’t find DJs that play music with any level of profanity. I typically listen to rap/hip-hop/alternative rock at the gym which is laced with profanity which I love. For me, removing that or replacing it is distracting like watching dubbed video. All these are personal things. I’ll explore a little bit more but I suspect I will end up sticking to Spotify.

Good But Could Be Better

I really like this app but find the same songs in lots of playlists. Shame as there should be lots of different songs. They obviousy don’t want to pay the royalties for lots of songs so keep using the same ones over and over. Gets repetitive after a while. If it wasn’t like this it would be 5 star. Should have the option to put playlists into folders too.

Great App!!

I got this app a week ago and I've now used it for 5 workouts and on several other occasions (like walking downtown, grocery shopping, etc). I love it. The app is exactly as advertised. Seamless musical progression, tons of musical variety. There are features that I haven't tried yet but I will update as I do. There are really only 2 things keeping this from being the best app I've bought in years: 1) I haven't seen its effect on my data plan yet; and 2) the subscription cost is pretty steep. I will say that for pure functionality, this is the best app I've gotten in a long time. Great job! Great app.

Just okay…needs improvements

1) Skipping restrictions 2) Unable to shuffle playlist or ever fully listen to a playlist because it just restarts every time you play it so you hear the same songs when you launch the playlist every time in the same order. Disappointing

I recently got back into running and wanted some extra motivation. I got the app and liked it for the first few runs. The “DJ” effect of playlists is nice, but after several runs, I noticed it was just playing the same 5 songs over and over. I changed playlists and the same thing happened. At least it’s tracking your progress right? …well maybe not. It tells you the dates and durations of your previous runs, but I can’t find more details (minutes per mile, route, etc). All that to say, if you’d like to save your money: download 5 songs on iTunes, set them on infinite repeat then buy a cheap stopwatch and time your workouts on pen and paper.
