Perfect App!
I absolutely love this app! I’ve been using it for a few years and they’ve made some pretty awesome updates!
New app is unsable
So you set up a timer and leave the room while it’s running. Everything goes hay wire the timer resets and just starts beeping continuously So you set up a timer and try to build another while that is running. How about we just shutdown your current timer without warning while you try to run another in the background. This app update only rivals Sonos distres disastrous update in its ability to ruin a perfectly good solution. I have invested so much in this platform over the past 10 years. I can’t run my gym this way so it might be time to go
Updates
I really like some of the updates and some not so much. My biggest complaint is that you can’t revise your previously used timers. After you spend five minutes setting up a mixed interval timer and realize you made a mistake part way through the workout, you have to re set up the whole thing mid workout.
Glitches
Timer was working absolutely amazing i recommend it to all my trainer friends!! But ever since the update it has been horrible…Glitches every round stops in the middle of the countdown!! Please fix because i dont want to have to get a new timer I love this one!!
No more rep counter
Just a regular timer app now. After the big update they removed the rep counter feature. That was the best standout feature of this timer. Nothing special Or different now.
Updated Review!
I was amongst the many people complaining about the update. Thankfully Gym Next listened to us and gave us the option to keep the original simple interface! Maybe one day I’ll continue to try out the new version but I honestly appreciated the original. What I want to note is the customer service. Not only did they respond to my comment on facebook and Instagram I was also emailed about my discrepancies. This led to us finding a bug in the update which will be corrected in the next update. I always appreciate not only a company willing to listen to its customers but also one who’s willing to make sure the experience is pleasant. Gym Next remains my favorite gym timer app and will continue to be the ONLY app I use !
Trash-App Update Ruined Perfectly Good Product
I use to recommend and love these clocks and app. Not anymore. I was finally forced to update to the latest version and it’s terrible. Very glitchy, not user friendly like before. No one asked for this update! And now a subscription for certain features. Give us the old version back.
Once I figured it out…
Detailed directions for rookies would be helpful (don’t have any kind of training in physical fitness). After lots of trial and error, I got it figured out and saved my two favorite programs. It’s fabulous and way easier than trying to time my intervals with a stopwatch.
Worst Update of the Century
Why ?
War schon besser
Seit dem Update überlege ich eine andere App zu nutzen. Vorher wars einfach in jeder Hinsicht. Auf den ganzen schnick-schnack hab ich keine Lust und sehr für meinen Zweck keinen Mehrwert.
Flex Forever
I’ve used Flex forever- from my college coaching days to now as a full time garage gym goer. It’s user-friendly and fits any type of workout you may need. Couldn’t recommend more.
Update is terrible
This app was Perfect before they went in and re-configured the entire app. Nothing was the same, colors, buttons, formats - all different. I dont even know how to turn off our clocks anymore at our gym with this new update. It’s complicated and over programmed. Prior to the update, everything was seemless, easy to navigate and easy to read. They did way too much, I wish there was a way to revert back to the original version.
Feel the burn
Slowly they’ve been updating app and as of 12/19/24 it’s a lot better. One major flaw is they have no volume control. What they do have is an audio boost select. So either it’s a whisper or your music is barely audible
Tabata rest interval
The rest interval between tabatas is not working correctly.
Customer Service is great!
This timer was given to me as a gift. I didn’t use it often and was surprised when it stopped working. I reached out to customer service, via email, and explained what was happening and to my surprise, person who helped me, without delay, said, it sounds like you need a new power cord. First of all, I was surprised to get the quick response and secondly, it was sent to me free of charge. That blew my mind! Looking back I think it might have been my fault because we have had multiple power outages in this area. Now I unplug it when I am done.
Not a good update
We lost the ability to cast up the timer to bigger TV screen when we do sparring training. Now we need to pay to cast up. Very frustrating and disappointing of the developers update.
Nice app
It would be even better if the work:rest ratio could use 0.5,1.5, etc as rest
Welcome to the new bloated UI
New UI is awful. So much extra stuff no one needs. Who needs planning and an account and class management and videos and heart rate tracking. It’s a timer for crying out loud. We just need the different types of timers and that’s it. No need for the extras. Especially when they make it impossible to quickly fire up a timer for a workout. Just such a waste.
Great timer, poor app
Love the actual timer and the original app. New app update is much more confusing to use and has a clunky interface. Wish I could get the old app back.
Fantastic
I put this in my home gym because I was tired of using my Apple Watch for everything and not being able to see things. The app works perfectly and connects to the timer every time.
Ruined
New user interface completely destroyed this timer. Used to be pretty straightforward and user-friendly. Now it’s overcomplicated. Buggy. Why on earth would you reinvent the wheel it was working just fine.
Sharing Issue
When i try to share from my ipad pro M1 12,9” it crashes every time. It doesn’t happen on my iphone. Seems it’s related to imessages so please check it.
Overly complicated now
I like the old app better. Maybe I’ll get used to this one, but my first take after this latest overhaul is that it’s overly complicated and I’m confused why I’m looking at a bunch of videos now. I liked the simplicity before and it was a go to timer app for me for years, but I think I’m going to find a different app now.
UPDATE
Until this last update. “More” is not always better. The simplicity of the previous version is what made this app amazing! Now, I can’t even find the button on the app to turn off the clocks… UPDATE. Their customer service team is spot on and quick to reply. They pushed out an update which fixed my issue. I still think minor improvements to the previous version would’ve been more welcomed and received instead of a complete app overhaul.
Does what I need
Got this as a gift. Been using it for 7 months. Love it. Does everything I need, and always finding new timers and settings.
Please change back to old design!
As a fitness instructor I need to quickly be able to work the timer app - and now this new version comes along and frustrates every coach in our gym! It is not simple to use anymore. The designs are difficult for the eyes to follow. Overall, it’s a huge miss!
Looks great, but no Multitasking
I’m really looking forward to using this app with the wall mounted timer. This is indeed the only product that does this well. I saw it online and purchased one sight unseen. The only issue I have is that the app does not support iPad multitasking/split view. I’m actually using the timer to communicate with performers on stage in a l show, but need to have other AV apps on screen simultaneously.
Recent update ruined
The most recent update as of 4/24/26 has ruined what was a great easy to use app. It is now has a confusing layout and of course they want to charge you to use it.
Recent Changes, Paywall
Look, I get it, companies need to make money. Updating the app to make it less functional and putting features behind a paywall was not a cool move. I’m not interested in paying to use an interval clock I already paid for. Not everything has to be a subscription—sell more clocks, they are great.
Perfect
I use this app and timer every single day. I use it for my clients in my personal training studio and I use it for my boxing workouts. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone.
Update after update. Still trash
User interface is slightly better. Still won’t even attempt to pick up my timer. This was not an issue before the update. Still trash.
Keeps me motivated
Hardest thing for me is keeping time while focusing on exercises. This takes that onus off you and lets you just focus on working hard
Please fix
One of my favorite saved workouts has been really inconsistent. Sometimes the audio cues just stop and it goes completely silent. I end up having to close the timer and reopen the exact same one for it to work again. My phone volume is on, so it seems like a glitch. I really love this timer, which is why I’m asking you to please fix the inconsistency.
Used to be great but now has deal breaking bug
Lately I’ve noticed that the voice announcer just disappears after a while or the voice cues just don’t work at all. This kind of ruins the app as I need this to be able to hear when a round ends.
A+
Solid
Dear God roll back to V5
Autoplay launch video on by default? And a subscription?!?! For a timer app - Are you insane!? I don't want an "experience" I just want to control my timer as easily and quickly as possible. Nothing was broken on V5, this new UI is a step in the wrong direction. Looking at alternatives now that use a remote.
One of the best ones and for free
This is a pretty unknown app and after trying and buying a few of them, I can say that it’s the best available. It needs some fixes to be great, such as: - Better scaling for iPhone X - Next and prev controls for the workout. - Workouts without timer. - Improvement in the workflow, can be confusing. But it’s still worth it and it’s my main timer :-)
So close!!!!
This is the absolute best timer app for trainers if you own the clock. The one thing they need to fix that will make this a 5 star app is the watch app. Where I coach I can’t always see the clock and I want to make my cues. There needs to be a way to sync the watch with the phone app. Right now you can not adjust the watch timers at all. But if they just made it so you could have it mirror whatever you set up on the phone this app would be unstoppable.
Good but not as good as it promised
I use the timer for my daily exercises. Really great app because you can set your own timers. And I mean all kinds of different timers. All the different kinds that I can think of. So it helps me perfectly with my own sequence of exercises. but .. every time I have to indicate that I am not using an external timer. Why not a possibility as part of the settings (switch with or without external timer on/off). And I do my exercises with my Appel watch. There is an app for the watch. But even after the latest update (dated 20210422) it does not work (says there are no active timers, while a timer is running on the iPhone app). so 3 stars and not 4 (5 would ask a lot more effort in the look and feel and intuitively of the app).
Perfect!
Perfect app, can’t recommend enough
Was great until it was updated
I used to love this app, but I can’t stand it now it’s been updated. I get videos that I don’t want. It’s harder to navigate and it’s not nearly as user-friendly.
Awesome ring timer!!
Very easy to use and a lot of options. Best I’ve ever used.
THE NEW LAYOUT IS TERRIBLE
Please give us an option to go back to the old layout. This new layout is AWFUL. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Trash. Switching clocks.
