What people like
- Videos are short and easy to watch
- Lots of free content available
- Clear explanations help you understand concepts
- Customer service is very helpful
What they complain about
- Keeps crashing and freezing often
- Video speed resets when you pause
- Ads interrupt your vocab practice
- No captions for the videos
I can’t believe it’s free
It is everything I could ask for. It’s like I have my own private teacher.
Playback speed does not work
The playback speed does not work!!!
1.5 playback speed feature request
Thank you for the app! It is really helpful! The only thing I miss is the possibility of watching videos with a 1.5-playback speed. The videos are too slow, and I’d prefer to save time by watching them quicker. Thanks!
Can't use question section
Questions won't load when I enter the sections, both verbal and math. Please fix.
Missing word definitions and unintuitive interface
The app is OK overall; however, it could be significantly improved with a few UI/UX changes. 1. Some of the verbal questions offered definitions for the words, but others do not. It would be great if all such questions defined the vocabulary words in the answer choices. 2. I clicked the linked definition of a word which sent me to an Internet dictionary. I then could not return to the app without restarting it, thereby losing my place in the questions. There should be an obvious way to return back to the app from the online dictionary. 3. Similar to the above, there is an exit button where there would typically be a back button. Pressing this button will send you back to the main app homepage rather than the previous screen. I think such a button should be in a different location and should have a Home icon rather than an X icon to prevent accidental exits from the study questions. 4. I’ve yet to figure out how to review flagged or previously missed questions; I think there might be a filter for it but I think it could be more obvious. 5. After hitting submit on a long verbal question, I shouldn’t have to scroll all the way down to see the results. I’ve already read the text at that point, so hiring submit should just load the answers without changing the viewpoint of the text and available answer choices. Regarding content, some of the questions have absurdly long answers. I’m unclear how we’re supposed to answer such questions in any reasonable amount of time.
Good value
This is a good value GRE Program with excellent customer service support!
Slow
The app doesn’t work on IOS. There are many glitches and the app hangs a lot which makes it near impossible to use effectively.
Good app but room for improvement
Great app for studying on the go but the videos should have the option to watch it in double speed like the desktop version.
More detail
So far no detailed info regarding equations just generalized info I already know
Great but accessibility issues
I have to start testing for the GRE in about a month and paid for premium access to this content. It’s very thorough and comes with excellent strategies for the numerous types of questions. My only complaint is that this app lacks accessibility features that is not fair to those of us with disabilities. I am lucky enough to not be deaf, but I do have an audio processing disorder so I struggle to understand what is being said without captions or by reading lips. Most of the videos are useless to me because there are absolutely no captions available. Luckily a handful of videos show the narrators thought processes via drawing on the screen or detailed notes. But I feel like I am missing out severely on important strategies that I paid a LOT of money to get access to. It’s honestly not fair and if I didn’t have such a short window of time to prep for this exam, I’d demand a refund but I need access to the practice exams and questions.
Free & great!
Just what I need to do this GRE prep! So far the only annoying commercial bit is asking me if I ‘know the word magoosh’ over & over in vocab practice. But this is VERY nice content to get for free with only a little bit of needling. Thank you!!!
Expensive
Expensive
Taking notes on the phone should be available as well
Magoosh is definitely a great platform to do your preps for GRE, I’d appreciate if they add the take notes feature on the phone as well!
The app is just a blank page after the update
Please check into it. The app is just a blank page
App keep on crashing
I have surfed the app only little bit i haven’t explored more After watching lesson and if we go back to switch next lesson means the app crashes I dont know what’s happening there And another thing when entering into lessons for the first time it says no lessons currently for few seconds after that me lessons are loading I can understand that u are fetching the videos after the api call gets success but until that u have to show loading or progress bar or message like getting ur lessons. If u say like that it will be more relevant
Love Magoosh! App is great
I find the app very useful and accessible. Video tutorials are in small chunks which make them easy to fit into my busy schedule.
Broken app.
The app doesn’t work at all on my device.
Good.
Magoosh as a system and as an organization were very helpful for me. After being away from math for 20 years, the program helped me hit my goal score on the GRE. The app itself is fine, not great. The flash card apps are really helpful, and the practice questions are good too. I wished there were lessons I could read because I had a lot of study time where watching a video wasn’t ideal. Magoosh was helpful when I needed to extend my service a couple weeks. Affordable, effective way to prep for a test. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to never take a standardized test again!
Freezing
This app is constantly freezing. The only way to fix the issue is to close the app completely, therefore losing my previous questions answered.
Amazing app!
Love it.
Lacking lot of features
It doesn’t have dashboard support as available on the website version that makes it irrelevant to use . We have to go back to website to do custom practise and for watching lessons or as for daily planned videos . Please update it .
Awesome to learn
The UI and the layout of options in the app are perfect. It doesn’t hassle the user with too many options. The explanations are just crisp and concise. The only question thing is how do we access our previous practice sessions?
Media player very glitchy
The media player is so glitchy that it increases the screen brightness at odd moments. But most importantly though if you pause a video that is not playing at 1x speed, the moment it’s unpaused it goes back to 1x speed, where in one needs to go back and play the video again from scratch to get 1.5x playback speeds etc.
Fantastic Content for Free
This is an incredibly useful tool, especially considering that it is free. The app itself is a bit buggy, and pausing a video and playing it again removes any video speed increase you may have assigned in the settings. Still, I am thrilled that I found this app, and I plan to purchase more materials from Magoosh because I have enjoyed these free materials so much.
Videos won’t play. Keeps crashing
Using the app on my iPhone XS max. Videos won’t play or play late. Touch doesn’t work sometimes and sometimes the app crashes
Magoosh is the best
Just started my preparation of the GRE with Magoosh and it is very good app for the preparation having a wide variety of topic covered in simpler and understandable manner.
Good app but missing essential bits
The Magoosh program was great and for 14 days revision I scored really well using this only. The videos are very detailed and te site is user friendly. That being said, the app lacks the section specific quizzes and the option to customise your quiz. Also it doesn’t allow you to download the videos for offline viewing which is really handy if you’re in the underground train.
Amazing Review Material
I finished my Bachelor degree 25 years ago. This app was a wonderful refresher of the stuff I already knew but had forgotten. The videos were short and to the point. I could watch a few at a time or a lot at a time, depending on my schedule. The tips and tricks were VERY helpful. I haven’t taken the GRE yet, but I scored well on the practice test I took. I feel well prepared because of the app.
Waste
It’s is not intuitive, basically watch videos and move on, no practice to see if you master the skill. Basically a GRE text prep book with videos.
Great app for GRE prep
Very useful vocabulary cards
Best in content, UI keeps hanging and lagging
Best in content, UI keeps hanging and lagging. Apps suddenly crashes or video gets paused in IOS. I am using iphone 6s.
Best GRE study resource! and it’s free!
Get this app!! Magoosh was the only resource I used to study for my GRE. I can’t believe it’s free! The practice questions, writing section videos, and vocab builder were super helpful. I scored very well on my first GRE attempt and don’t have to retake it… thanks Magoosh!
I am unable to read articles and watch videos
I would love to use this app as expected to use, but I am unable to read articles and watch videos, hindering my learning.
Superb
The new UI is awesome. The app is easy to use. I find it more useful.A great tool for competitive exams.
Magoosh IPhone App
Magoosh Team/ Bhavin, You've built a very intuitive app although it is missing some strengths that exist within the online platform. Please develop "English" quiz content for the app as it is fairly easy to develop and deploy. Also, it would be great to have the "Math" quizzes but you would have to incorporate a "whiteboard" or paint like application that would allow users to solve question on the screen. The iPhone has a calculator but it would be useful to have a calculator module within the app, eliminating needless switching back and forth between apps. These features will make the app just as good as the online platform. The app itself can also improve in some areas. Speaking from a human factors perspective, the app restarts videos everytime I leave the app. There should be mechanism or controls to ensure it starts where it was last left off. Make the bottom black console with icons scrollable horizontally as you add more modules. Lastly add an internal one-touch screen capability so I can capture notes without having to re-watch an entire video. Develop a picture library module within the app that will store these notes for future reference. Develop a similar feature on the website and synchronize the two library or at least provide the option for people like me who like capturing screenshots as reminders. Continue the hard work, your team has a great business concept which I am hoping will gain popularity. Please add more "English" lesson content with examples. I wish your team the best of luck. H
Great site
Test questions and solutions are awesome. Videos are very helpful and extensive
Bugs!
I upgraded to premium, recently, but can't play any of the videos. Tapping the play button returns no response. Kindly fix it!
Magoosh GRE Review
Awesome App
practice tests missing
This is a great tool to watch the online tutorials but I cannot find any practice tests on it-would be great to add them. The online version is much more comprehensive and offers a lot more that this app.
Great!
This app is extremely helpful in studying for the GRE. The videos provide detailed explanations of concepts that are covered in the GRE. Totally a lifesaver!!
Wrong app
Once the app is installed and then opened it shows magoosh toefel prep and not gre prep!!
Review about the app
Good app, it gives a good insight about the GRE, the time for each section, the pattern of exam, etc...
Good - with room for improvement
The videos are useful. I like that it's available on iPod Touch, not just the iPhone. I'd like to be able to write notes as I watch the videos, though (as is possible on the desktop version of Magoosh). Including practice questions on the app would be nice, too.
